Australians gravititate to the coast, however in Canada people gravititate to the US Boarder where 90% of the population live within 240km to the boarder. Most of Canada is uninhabited. The East coast of Aus is where most of Australians live, so you will encounter more cities there. In addition we have greater diversity in our landscape than Canada. We have the tropical north, deserts in the middle, as well as snow peaked mountains in the south. I think your opinion would have been different if you have lived on the East coast (I happily live in Perth).

I think some people are confused, I think that crossing is a legal crossing through authorities, he’s saying if you cross illegally through a different unregulated crossing then you will be arrested. We have too big of government, too many regulations, too many taxes. Who would do business in Canada? Name a Canadian company other than shopify. Blackberry... Oh wait its dead. Biggest difference USA has was more places to live every variety of climate you could ask for. It has way more opportunity because of the higher population. Way more jobs, way more national parks. They're extremely similar countries but I have to give it to the US is the variety of places to live. Canada may be bigger but most of it is a desolate wasteland. The only nice places to live in Canada are cities directly on the border. As far as how nice people are Canadians are just polite not always genuine. If an American is nice to you odds are they actually like you or they're someone you can't trust. But generally if a Canadian in nice to you they could hate your guts. An American seeing how Canadians act gives them a idolized view of who we are. If an American doesn't like you you'll know it and if they do like you you'll know it. This is the perspective of someone who grew up on a border town.

I have mixed feelings about this. I feel like a total first letter of the alphabet-hole for not thinking of helping right away. When I lived in San Diego, it was a palpable daily reminder. Lots of people have cross-border lives. Family, work, home is on either side of the border. Now living up in Washington State, it's different. Here the border with Canada is all about preventing Canadians from stealing technology from us while allowing them to work for us. Some partners who come visit us often times get searched for technology. Like pen drives, samples, etc. It's a totally different story. Canada probably has less homeless than all of south America. It's an easy claim because literally, if you can't insulate your self in winter you go visit the great gardener Jesus and his weirdo multipersonality disorder. In south America, you just need to eat and not get eaten by things. So the result is that people survive way below the poverty line. Then, the big lie tells them that the US is better so they come over to eventually learn how the others found the three headed gardener the hard way. I feel like maybe if they got a tour of the country and learned how shitty it is to live here too, they might think twice about coming over. There are periods and ways when the US opens it's borders but it's looking like a real shit show right now. We don't have enough jobs and not enough houses to house everyone. At least in south America you can live in the family house and no one bats an eye. People help each other in poverty.

Trudeau needs to shut this border crossing already. It is so hard and competitive already to find an apartment or house to rent, there are canadians suffering and waiting on the central housing list here for years and guess who keeps moving to the front of the line taking the spots, these people who are put up in hotels, given food, money, and citizenship, also all while the people who are trying to immigrate legally have to pay and wait, it's not fair for them. I love different cultures but this needs to be done legally, things are already rough for a lot of canadians and this is just going to continue to strain the system.

I moved from US to Canada the difference that the people are super kinder they don't make you feel left out no matter who you are so that's one thing Canada is expensive (depending on the are) like the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) Its super expensive like $3000+ for house on rent and apartment no less then $2500 so I think That Canada is better even thought its expensive

An important factor as always been for me the different of murders, mugging, rapes, theft, people killed by firearms each year up to 38 000 a year in the US, add other types of weapons, and many more. In Canada we have clean water, lakes everywhere, we have so much more good timber for building, land for farming etc. The cost of health care in the US and schools can easily ruin them, their parents and families. Canada health care is mostly free for everyone, although seemed slow by many, but is it slow or are they worried to see a doctor to realize nothing is wrong with them ?? Going to see a doctor for a cold, a bad night sleep etc are not really worth a doctors time or theirs. The education system in Canada educate their citizens, watching Youtube videos about Americans being asked common questions like : Which 2 countries border the USA?? Sadly most are morons and think it is Europe and France LOL Parents and children's have a way better time when they give birth and spending time with their families ;-) You might get better pay in the US, but then you have to worry about getting shot, robbed or killed, get your car or stolen, house broken into etc. Plus add all the scammers and scams in the USA, that citizens, non citizens and politicians and city officials and even cops do, no thank you.

It is true about all the laws and rules in Canada that interfere in your life. We lived in the Middle East for 5 years and could not believe the difference. Less laws, less rules, less annoyance. It was great. We lived in Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait (though Kuwait had a bit more rules that made life hard mostly when it came to owning a car if you were a foreigner). Also, the weather. Yes, it is very hot in the Middle East but we loved that. I hate the cold here in Canada and there is no guarantee that summer is going to be warm and sunny, so it is hit or miss. Most people who say Canada is the greatest country in the world, have never lived in any other part of the world and therefore, really cannot be sure of their statement.

I am an American. I am looking to relocate to Canada because of the bad experiences I have had as a California Licensed Structural Engineer with 25+ years of experience. This US license is really difficult to obtain because the exam has a 25% pass rate. In California, it is much tougher because of the earthquakes the state experiences.\n\nInstead of being treated with respect for having this Structural Engineer License, I have been treated badly by structural engineering firms in the US. In the US, you can be fired for no reason at all. They use Performance Improvement Plans to lay me off because I am much smarter than the people I work with. Licensed Structural Engineers do not have job security - so expect to work only a few months.\n\nIn the US, you will have a job for 4 months because your boss has decided to hire someone cheaper and give himself a raise. This happened to me at the City and County of Denver.\n\nLicensed Structural Engineers do not have job security at all because employers do not care about their employees. With workplaces like that, the US is not the place to be. American is not the greatest nation when you have morons like Harry Dunn and Lloyd Christmas from the movie Dumb and Dumber running things! Americans are downright stupid! That is why I am considering relocating to Canada.\n\nI started taking structural engineering courses at the University of British Columbia so I could better myself and get some Canadian experience. In the US, this cannot happen because Americans do not believe in bettering your professional career opportunities. In American companies, you can get fired for getting more education. It is really interesting doing these courses because I am learned alot of different engineering skills that they do not teach in the US. Plus I will be getting an award from Canada.

I am pretty sure those people never have been to a country like Bangladesh, average part of India. Otherwise, they wouldn’t even imagine to write down such a bad words about their country. Well Canada is a great country, my grand parents were able to get here in 1957 with their 3 kids, after going through and surviving WWII, work in Europe was scarce and employers were abusing their workers everywhere. My dad was one of those 3 children's, he met my mother here, they had me and my sister. Today i have 3 boys of my own and my sister has 2 girls. Canada has any country as their plusses and minuses, but i wouldn't live anywhere else. I've lived my whole life on the south shore of Montréal, worked in and around Montréal for 35 years. Never ran out of work as long as i was willing and able to work. I've worked in all my life, 65% immigrants and 35% Québecer's. There both are kinda racists in some way and they have there own reasons as well. I was bullied in school till i was 11 years old, i had an accent and dressed differently since my dad made our clothing. Being ridiculed, pushed, punched etc, and then one day the bully of the school approached me and wanted to fight me. I was scared, everyone else were laughing, so i clenched my fist and punched that kid right on the nose. Everyone got quiet and the principal came out, we went to his office and then he asked me straight away : Are you gonna do this again or was it a one time thing ?? I said it will be one time thing unless someone else wants to fight me again, then i will have to defend myself again. He said ok and now go back to class, and that was that. But in the 1970's with the augmentation of people moving here after WWII, people in Canada were scared immigrants would steal their jobs etc. My grand father worked all his life till he died at 82 years old. Worked 6 days a week, 12 to 16 hours a day. My dad had worked all his life 70 hours a week and sometimes 85 hours a week. People complaining about doctors or hospitals, a lot are going in for a cold, the flu, headaches etc, for sure take 2 aspirin or tylenol and stay home, no need to see a doctor for that. If you have a broken limb or were in an accident, you go right in and get fixed up without issue really. Any country as it's inconveniences in the end ?

I think you're highlighting a huge problem. Canada loses so many people. For a while, I lived in Texas, and the difference in after tax income coupled with the lower cost of living was huge. In Canada, at the time, I could save money for my RRSPs but buying a house was out of the question...it's even worse now. In Texas, on the same income, I could live like a king. \n\nI went to a university that was really strong in computer science and engineering. The number of grads that left and never looked back is depressing.

I am a dual citizen. I was born and raised in Canada but eventually moved to the US. I am glad because my pension is now in US Dollars. Both countries have their pluses and minuses. Unfortunately, both countries have horrible leaders. Wokeism and Progressivism are destroying our nations. The rest of the world is laughing at us. Our own worst enemy is our own ways. The figures don't tell all of the story when it comes to physician salary comparisons and tax-to-GDP ratios, for instance. Truly, doctors in the US can earn a lot more, but they also have to spend a lot of that on legal indemnity insurance because the US is the home of spurious litigation. The availability of doctors in Canada being damaged by the attraction of the USA is just part of a global phenomenon - professionally-qualified people will go wherever the money is best, so less-developed nations lose medical staff to richer nations. The UK effectively steals a lot of medical staff from the Philippines and sub-Saharan Africa, for instance.\n\nI notice that the UK is listed just above Canada on the tax-to-GDP table, but government spending is waaaaaaay higher than that (more like 45% and heading for 50%) and honestly to my knowledge the UK has had tax-to-GDP figures above 40% for many years (even at its lowest during the past 50 years it's probably never dipped below 35%). I don't know where the figures in that table came from, but I bet that there are some shenanigans behind them. For instance, the UK personal taxation load is heavily weighted by taxes on goods, but big companies often pay very little tax themselves. Ireland is an even more extreme example of that phenomenon - I note their relatively-low placing on the tax-to-GDP table. Multinationals see Ireland as a tax haven these days.\nLet me be clear - I'm absolutely not a a fan of socialism and fully advocate for lower taxes and smaller Government. It's notable that countries with bigger Government (more socialism) tend to take more in taxes. The USA needs to be considered state by state as well due to the differing levels of socialism. High-taxing states contribute less per-capita to federal revenues, but also note that federal support programs tend to concentrate upon those same states. The loudest voices behind the begging bowl tend to be the most socialistic. It's all a big mess - the lack of transparency does not help the case for high-taxing Governments.\n\n\nLastly, considering the current governing dynasty in Canada, I could never live there. Trudeau is a nightmare totalitarian. The events of 2020+ showed some national leaders in a revealing light. Canada and New Zealand are now two countries I could never consider living in. The USA is not far behind in the league of opprobrium. Liberty is a rare thing these days.

Quebec banning the hijab was literally ending racism. Catholic habits had been banned for decades. They finally said that if one religion isn't allowed, neither will the other one be allowed. That's called equality, not racism. I have no love for Quebec, but the one thing they do get right, is they treat different people groups (aside from French/English division) more or less the same. The big difference between both countries, is that it is slow and harder to find jobs in Canada, in USA you find jobs of all type right away. about health services , Canadian one is great, but in USA, if you are ilegal, or unemploye or if you dont have private insurance the goverment pay your bills , it is called Medicare, it is for low income people. So both countries have different systems and both work well.

30 years ago canada was very different i came when i was 19 i loved the country i did my adult life here but not anymore ,i am soo scared to get sick here healthcare system is worst than a third world country now people here dont have compasion in hospitals they treat you worst than an animal

I have no problem with people of the same cultures living together. The idea that everyone can live together is kind of misleading. There are cultural difference between people groups and some people like to preserve and maintain that culture. It's fine with me as long as hate doesn't form toward another group.

The social experiment with the girl raising money for Syrian refugees..I’d like to see them try it with an Indigenous 1st nations person and see how many people step in? Here in Northern Minnesota a very rural area yes we indigenous get that same treatment,from highschool staff favoring non matches to store employees following us around. Born and raised in Québec City, I think it's really special but each province/city has its own places of beauty. I worked in Toronto as a student and I had a fabulous time there. Different culture to Quebec but still nice and so welcoming. I swam in Georgian Bay, it is so huge, what a beautiful place. I also visited New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and parts of Nova Scotia and I couldn't believe the scenery and how friendly the people were. Unfortunately, it's often easier and cheaper for Canadians to travel south then east-west.

i feel like i take for granted just how ACTUALLY multicultural toronto is. it's not just a city of enclaves like most other big cities, it's all sorts of different people actually living and interacting with each other daily. i think growing up in a place like that gives you a unique view of humanity overall that you wouldn't get growing up elsewhere.

Come to the South. There is some racial segregation by neighborhoods (especially in the very rich and very poor), but there are tons of racially diverse neighborhoods. The most extreme examples of racial segregation are found in the North and the Coasts. Ask the average resident of Providence, RI how many black people they know or share a neighborhood with. I bet it's going to be on one hand and maybe even one digit. It doesn't surprise me that the races self-segregate up North, because that's how it's always been done. Even when the majority of immigrants were European, major American cities had Polish, Russian, German, Portuguese, and Italian neighborhoods. It's just easier to see now that we have a bunch of different skin colors represented.

As a dual citizen, there are so many things that's incorrect about this video. First of all, to make it an apples to apples comparison, I see no attempt to adjust the comparison by population. There is no point comparing Montreal (where I have lived) vs. Columbus, Ohio. Montreal is roughly 1.7 million people or 4 million metro. The correct comparison would be something like Boston. Similarly, there is no point comparing Montreal vs. LA in terms of geographical spread when LA is more than three times the size. So of course your commute will be different.\n\nComparing Montreal to Boston for example, Boston is very very compact. Yes, Montreal does have better food options than Columbus or your random rural suburbs. It doesn't come even close to similarly sized American cities. It's the same reason for example that one doesn't compare San Francisco for example, against London, Ontario. It's a pointless comparison.\n\nAdditionally, the claim that the worst part of Canada is better than the best part of America is laugahble. There is no truly terrible neighborhoods in Canada compared to American ones (where you can tell if you're in a bad neighborhood), but Canadians can't even imagine the wealth and prestige of the best parts of America, let alone compare with it. The wealthiest don't live in downtown New York (where they maintain their work residence), they live in Montauk. They don't live in downtown Boston, they live in Newton or Weston. The most affluent parts of Canada like Bridle Path/Rosedale (Toronto), Westmount (Montreal) or North Vancouver would look like abject poverty by comparison.\n\nOh, let's not also forget other factors for being in the US. The median household income in Canada is $67,000 Canadian. The median for the US is $69,000 US. The typical American is far wealthier than the typical Canadian. Anybody who tried to buy any goods (or services) in Canada and compared their choices in the US, it's not remotely comparable. Of course, the usual, taxes.

Lived in NJ????California ?????? Texas???? currently in Georgia ?????? once i get my finances together, i am definitely back to Texas?. Yes, the environment and people in general are different. I must be a well traveled, native NYer anomaly because I have the most diverse friend groups and whenever I travel to other places I see that is not the norm. Also living in NY, you literally could hop in a car, on the train/bus and visit 10 different “countries” of food in one day. And last but not least, many NY women are equally rough and soft. I think you ladies are way out in left field and you really don't know what you're talkin about. Unfortunately for some people it doesn't work out for whatever reason usually because they do not want to assimilate very well. I grew up in Ontario to a french-canadian father and an Italian mother in my life in Canada was so perfect said if I had to dream up a better life I could not have done so. I grew up playing all the sports and enjoyed all the different sports and the changes of seasons. My parents had a summer home on the st-lawrence river and every summer we water-ski swam fished, play golf in the morning and barbecues every night right on the water. Even though my grandfather was in the hotel business I was all about sports and enjoying everything about it. I grew up in a town of about 50 thousand about 40 miles from Montreal. When I wanted some great nightlife just drove a short drive to Montreal and it had everything did anyone could want in Nightlife. I have lived in United States for forty years and I can tell you that it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Heaven forbid should you get some kind of catastrophic illness you are screwed. I knew a woman who work for travelers insurance for 30 years at the best insurance a money could buy had suffered a couple of strokes and was on the verge of going broke had she not died when she died. People think that insurance continues to pay his long as you're ill and nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was going to have to sell her house to continue paying for round-the-clock care had she not died when she did. United States middle class is getting wiped out. I've seen enough poverty and hardship in this country to last a lifetime. I find greed to be running rampant in this country. When I grew up in Canada there was always the grass is greener on the other side and when I did move over to the other side the US that is I can tell you unequivocally the dead grass is not greener on the other side. There are more millions and millions of people here that are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. And we're talkin 2023. Now let's talk about violence. There is a mass murder in the United States every single day of the year. And a mass murder is defined by four or more people being killed by one person at one time. Killing these so out of control in the United States that now even six-year-olds are shooting their teacher. I find a tremendous amount of built-up Anger from people. Food is very expensive and shelter is also out of control and non affordable to most people. Again I find United States being able to paint a much Rosier picture then does really exist. And there are more con artists and thieves , Crooks, con-artists, bamboozlers, cheats and scammers then anywhere that I've ever been. And I will say this is it it ain't getting any better and I don't see it ever getting better. I find it is everybody out for themselves no matter who they cheat. I live in Southern California and I can tell you that night life where I live is non-existent. Understand that LA and Hollywood they always have to glamorize everything to sell it to tourists. Just remember that things today are not what they were 40 years ago. Middle-class people in Canada would also be just middle-class people in the US. But if your life means anything to you as far as safety and raising a family then Canada wins hands down end of discussion. People that say Canada is boring is because they are boring. That's what I found to be pretty standard across the board. Life is what you make of it. But I will say that you gals definitely need to move away if you don't like Canada. Do not let the door hit your ass on the way out. And just for your information Canada ranks annually as one of the top countries in the world to immigrate to. Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and next to Saudi Arabia has the third largest oil Reserves in the world. Canada has huge amount of freshwater which most of the rest of the world seems to be lacking and having spent my Summers on the Saint Lawrence River one of the Great Rivers in this world. I wouldn't change my twenty years in Canada for anyplace else in this world and I will be moving back shortly.

There were so many people of so many different cultures living there that the crime was so high and the solution the city came up with at the end of the 1950’s and into the early 1960’s was to tear the whole section of the city down and build it up again into something new. So, the first generations of immigrants into the US staying amongst themselves is actually a good thing, it’s because they’re too different to get along. Only the later, more Americanized generations can intermingle with far less problems. Same thing was true when the colonists were trying to live among the Indians, too many cultural differences lead to many, many, MANY conflicts, and they were initiated on both sides.

I always laugh when I hear someone say they don't live in the US because of safety concerns. I've lived here my entire life and never felt unsafe. Personally, i dont know of a single person who's been murdered or even shot. I guess if I was in a gang maybe I'd be concerned or if I lived in a violent area in a big city. But man if you live in more rural areas violence just isn't much of a concern in most places. Seems like people who don't live here just like to use it as a dig against the US. As if the fact that crime is high in some areas in the US means it's a flat out dangerous place to live in. Which is completely unrealistic. There are many many towns in the US who haven't seen a homicide in decades. But of course Chicago or New Orleans or Houston is a different story.

I just found out one MASSIVE difference between the US and Canada. Canada is attempting to force Jordan Peterson to go through social media reeducation or lose his liscense. That means free speach is dead in Canada. This religates Canada to some third world backwater nothing.\nWhile parts of the US are desperately trying to follow Canada's example, there are enough people in the US standing against it that it has yet to happen. That means the US can still claim to be kind of somewhat of a legitimate country.

I’m a Brit who had just returned from a holiday in Mexico. My hotel TEAMING with Americans and Canadians and the difference between them both was IMMENSE! Now I’m not saying this about all Americans at all. Just the majority that were at my hotel. Man those people were rude. Rude, Arrogant, entitled, obnoxious and loud. The way they spoke to staff, other guests and locals was awful. No manners, clicking their fingers, cutting lines, being aggressive, blaming others for their lack of understanding. Men stomping around being rude about other peoples nationalities. Chanting and being very egotistical. I’ve never experienced anything like it.\nThe Canadians though. The absolute polar opposite. So polite, so kind, so respectful, so friendly. I spoke to so many about life and experiences and all were just lovely. Obviously I know that not all Americans are that way, nor are all Canadians lovely. The difference I saw in those 10days day was huge. I’d much rather go to Canada than America now.

I lived in Newark nj and worked and shopped in Newark nj..Only had to take 1 or 2 buses..But then I moved to Hershey pa! The culture was different,the vibe was different and the people was so DAMN FRIENDLY.. I lived in pa and Georgia,they hated me because I had that NJ “attitude” that they say..But the areas I was at had absolutely no transportation!! That part of pa and Georgia I was stranded..
