In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.\n\n\nTheir are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. Well. There are thousands of permanent residents from Canada who got stranded around the world in the pandemic. The travel restrictions Canada put in place for permanent residents are far out of line. I was at the airport the last week before airports got closed. I had even my return ticket printed out, checked online in. At the airport, I was told, with some other PR’s that as a PR we were not allowed to board the plane! Seriously? What country does this? For myself, I couldn’t return to Canada for 1.5 years! Panic in the first couple of weeks. Calling the Canadian embassy every week. Even asking if Canada had a way to extend the Permanent residency visa at the embassy available. No. If you are longer than 2 years away from Canada, you CANNOT RENEW YOUR PERMANENT RESIDENCY CARD! Well. Lucky me, I didn’t had to work. After 14 years of working and living in Canada, I just had enough from a country that is telling none Canadians that we are people of 2nd class. And no. I am not from India. I’m from Germany and we cannot have a 2nd passport like other countries. I just got rid of everything in Canada. I stayed in Panama. Renewed last year my German passport. Got a “lifetime” residency visa in Panama. Don’t have to be worried about heating costs anymore. It is warm year around. Maybe it was a good thing that Canada gave me the “2nd class human” feeling. That’s when you figure out in times of emergency what countries do for immigrants. Canada was one of a handful countries in the pandemic who blocked permanent residence card owners from returning!

5:25 this is absolutely true, and I say this as someone born and raised in Canada. It is even worse than you say, and it affects Canadians too. Many organizations have a culture of meek compliance to rules, which may not make sense. Most Canadians try to avoid standing out, and standing out is likely to be seen by your boss and peers as threatening. No one wants to rock the boat.\n\nThese rules and expectations may differ substantially according to the politics and beliefs of the employer. For instance, overtime may be highly encouraged in one place and discouraged in another. But the veneer of handling things in a highly compliant and pleasant way is always there, with a hidden expectation that you will speak positively about the biases of your boss or owner. In other words, the common factor is that bosses often have fragile egos or are afraid of anything that challenges the status quo. This harms critical thinkers and innovators who often leave to the US or China, but also immigrants who have even larger barriers to working within the status quo. \n\nEven among better bosses I have had, I notice this tendency towards intense discomfort with ideas that come from outside of their direct experience. Though at least with my current boss and one other I had in the past, there is an intellectual curiosity and empathy which helps them gradually open up to unfamiliar things (and they're just awesome people in general). But I still notice this bias sometimes. It's definitely cultural.

I don't even know what to think as an open work permit holder. Where I was from, 2 years ago, i sent like 20 job applications, went to 5 interviews and got 2 offers. Took me 2 months but that was it.\n\nNow I'm starting my 4th month in toronto and sent more than a hundred applications, and I've not even gotten a single interview. I had naively assumed that having a certified native-level proficiency in English would ease things up a little, but i just feel completely ignored in this city. Might have to cut losses and just go somewhere else. Rent is insane.

I was born and raised in Toronto. The Trudeau government has absolutely destroyed our economy and is now scamming poor developing nations to come here and work as wage slaves while packing 25 dudes into a basement. This is deplorable. This is just the Indian student scam (selling false dreams and a poor education), we also have the migrant labour scam in our fruit/vegetable fields where workers are abused. I honestly don't understand how these new immigrants survive here, even our Canadian-born are having a lot of financial trouble. Because Canadian citizenship doesn't give you lots of rights. In the EU, even if you get citizenship in one small country, you can easily move to another European country. I've worked 5.5 years in the Netherlands in an ordinary town. I'm a Dutch citizen now, and I can easily move to Paris/Brussels/Rome. I'm moving in the upcoming months. Europe is kind of one big country, and Canada is a sparsely populated state with a notoriously cold climate everywhere.

Australia is worse, even more expensive housing and much more racist when it comes to job search, also Australia dollar is worth less than Canadiam dollars. Canada bashing seems to have become a fashionable sport, but all those who are leaving never say where they are moving to. The fact is the grass is not always greener on the other side, Sydney housing costs 1.5 times of Toronto and London housing costs easily twice of Vancouver. If you are capable and work hard, you can still do way better in Canada than India.

Students arent the problem here though, the housing market is the issue across the entire western world. Something about it is broken, and the governments need to make housing more affordable - it’s ridiculous we have to work 10 years with no expenses just to pay for the house - in reality maybe we will get the house at 65, IF we even get the mortgage and can sustain paying it. This is ridiculous!

I had to leave Vancouver 10 years ago literally because I couldn't afford to live there anymore. The cost of living was too high even then, and the job prospects simply weren't there. I have a BA and was an ESL teacher with 20 years experience. Tried changing careers as there were no stable jobs in ESL. I wasted 5 years struggling to find new work and in the end had to leave.

As an Indian who moved to study in Canada 5 years ago, It's the best decision I've made in my life. I work in tech and the money I make in a year in Canada, is what I'd make in 10 years in India. I save around 20-25 lakhs every year even after living my best life. Not sure what these news channels are on about.

Many homeowners are paying interest only, there is no reduction in the principal. \nBus service is so sparse that sometimes more than 100 passengers wait for a 38-seater bus. \nInternational students are in a very bad situation. Spend 25-30 lakhs, live 4-5 together in basements and do hard labor jobs (warehousing, retail cashier, security). Toronto resident here. I do agree with everything that Alina pointed out. Those thing exist. But the only REAL problem is the high cost of rent. It now equals and even surpasses the cost of a mortgage. If the rent problem were resolved, and they can do this by simply building more housing (which they are now starting to do - with government programs and incentives), then most of these problems Alina reported on would recede or disappear completely. \n\nAlso, the homelessness is not visually worse than anywhere else I've visited. Homeless encampments are visible in every city I've been too. However, in Toronto, a LOT of homeless people come from other parts of Canada. \n\nThe violence that Alina referred to was just a snapshot in time. She made her video around 4 months ago, and at that time there were several truly shocking incidents on the subway (which even made international news). Those incidents have not continued. The subway system, and Toronto, is still a very, very safe city. We are the third largest city in North America, after LA and NYC, and we had something like 50 homicides last year. Chicago has like 500. Just by way of example. \n\nI love Toronto, even though it is very expensive to pay rent here. But there is so much to offer that I wouldn't consider living somewhere else. Not a chance. It's great that you can live somewhere else if you work remotely, but when you're not working, what do you do?...Toronto is safe, clean (except in tourist season), with limitless opportunities for career and lifestyle. Wouldn't live anywhere else.

Let me say it, u didn't do ur research before moving abroad, abroad life is not for lazy ppl who don't want to work on their own. Didn't u know how was the life abroad wen u have ur relatives there. And the positions u r saying are voluntary for parents, it's not a job,it's called lunch duty. You didn't try to find how life, society is there. Who asked u to hire a basement, looks like that u weren't financially ok therefore u had to hire a basement. Ppl have nice houses there. Madam, ur qualification was not suitable to get a job in canada if u r in teaching. Ur english has to be iltes level. I have relatives who are in IT and have very good salary, live in big houses. So it seems u didn't have proper skills and qualifications to get a decent job there. If u have experience u don't have to start from the scratch. U are not fit to live abroad u seem a lazy person. Ppl like u are only suitable for india. Food options are alot in canada for veggies. Healthcare is good there and free. They have a discipline there. Canada is expensive may be u couldn't cope there. Wow 60k$. I was paying 14k$ Australian at one of the top uni per year as an international student 30yrs ago. Our fee built a new campus. I did work the full legal amount possible. I could only make almost enough to pay for my tuition. And wages has not doubled in 30 years. But US is paying 30k a year even for local. They do come to Canada for education too

You have never been to a consulate to apply for visa to Europe, Australia, Canada or US even you were in a very very very very very rich family in those poorer countries ... so never know why pp wanna move to Canada, US or similar countries .... as a Canadian citizen you are free to go to many countries without a visa, That''s one of the best privileges .... let's be honest as an international student I am in awe of how some internationals can study in Canada when they can't even speak English properly .. when I came here I needed to pass IELTS and get a band 7 for everything all my documents and transcripts were directly sent from the official email of my institution. I need to pass an exam before enrolling for my course, I have criminal, abuse registry, and child registry checks in my country and even when I am in Canada. Did all the immunizations needed and abide by their law i need to submit all these documents every 6 months access. to the policy of the program I am doing. And as an international remember you are coming to Canada they have their own culture so you need to respect and adjust to it, not Canada adjusting to you... even though Canada is diverse they have its own rules so yes adapt to the place where you are. And to them blaming the agency you the people who are using them knew exactly what they were getting into now you are complaining I did all my applications through DIY as IRCC is a direct applicant why need agents for application. Ircc should also question why a person needs an agent to process their applications. If they can't understand basic instruction and basic legal matters would you think those students will be able to survive the education system here in Canada? let's be real a lot of students are taking short-term courses, short like 8 months, and yes to get PR (I wouldn't lie cause that would be hypocrisy all international students have that aim, and if you say no just stay in your country). Now this a lesson to IRCC that they really need to make a thorough background before offering a PR permit ..and please when you are in public speak English respect the people around you... and don't speak too loud in your language when you are in working places.. uphold professionalism again remember you are in Canada a french English speaking country. And don't start with me about being racist.... cause it is plainly common sense.

This gentleman would have lot of issues in Canadian workplace setting ...they want you to be assertive clear and efficient and at the same time they want you to be too nice to an s hole employee...you have to respect their willingness to not work and even promote them.

Cos they get the housing first and free benefit money .drive nice cars..and what frustrates me is you should be learning that country's language and there laws n rights before you get accepted in..cos how they suppose to work if they can't under the language\nAnd how many bad people are running loose in your country with n9 money. Properly no id and can't speak the language..so now because of constant migration problems everywhere. International student fees are paying the way to keep Universities open. They pay at least twice the fees and even if they stay they contribute to our tax base by working.

Fact is, even if they wanted to leave, the neighboring nations would not take them. Nor do they accept any other refugees. That's why so many Muslims come to Christian nations in Europe and co. Irony or Intension. Sad for those in need of a safe place that it is so hard to find and your so called Brothers reject you. I work with refugees...I know what I am talking about. ?

I'm an immigrant and my immigrant friends and I were talking about exactly this just the other day. I'd like to add some context on why so few international students stay: they can't. Schools prey on this very fact. In international recruiting, these schools use the promise of thriving local industries and trot out graduates working locally as major draws to these expensive programs. Then once students are in Canada, many of these schools couldn't care less: they offer little or sometimes no housing support, no immigration advice (or in my case and many of my friends' cases: they give straight-up false immigration advice that can screw you over or even get you in trouble). There absolutely needs to be regulation and accountability for these predatory schools; I think a good starting point would be capping the number of visas they can apply for based on the number of housing units available (either on-campus or via local development subsidy and homestays). Tons of students come to Canada completely unprepared due to false promises made by these schools, and then get spit out into an egregiously inefficient and broken work visa system.\nMy immigrant friends and I are all highly skilled in our specific field. There are only a handful of people in the world (let alone in Canada) who can do what I do at the level I do it, so I would be incredibly difficult to replace if I left Canada. Despite that, and despite being Canadian-educated (Canadian resources invested in me that you'd want to keep in Canada), remaining in Canada has been a massive struggle for me and my friends. We individually spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars every year to apply for permits that have to be renewed annually, but take the government 6+ months to process. Because the government is so backed up, we have to apply for *extra* permits to bridge that gap (more money, and more work added to IRCC's already-long line of applications). I'm in limbo for the majority of the year where I can't switch employers, can't leave the country, etc. It's horrible. \nBut I have it better than most. Of the international students in my year, only I and one other student are still in Canada because the transition to work permits is so needlessly long and difficult. Even a graduate who does manage to get a work permit might have to sit unemployed for 6 months or more before that permit is active. How is a student supposed to survive without work for that long? In order for employers to even apply to sponsor a graduate, they often have to do a lengthy labor market impact assessment, and so these graduates are stuck in a holding pattern, and they're the lucky ones. Immigration is absolutely vital to Canada and I hate how quickly these stories turn to xenophobic rhetoric, but we have to make space in the conversation to take a look at how schools are exploiting students and policy loopholes, and why they're doing it, and address those problems. The current system isn't fair to anyone.

Canada is built on false promises to lure in immigrants to have them work for cheaper while ignoring it's own citizens. Treadeu doesn't care about his job and only uses it now to take tax payers money and fund his lavish lifestyle he's a rich egotistical douche that will only ever operate in his best interest and will lie and say what he has to for people to believe him he doesn't care about Canada or it's people only about keeping himself wealthy off tax payers dollars. If there was more of an effort on infrastructure and technology Canada could have been similarly valued to the states but treadeu ruined all major relationships and is a laughing stock globally it's very clear no world leader even respects the guy and hurts canadas trading potential massively along with how we're viewed. Canada tried way to hard to be it's own thing and different which also helped shoot the country in the foot. The government is extremely corrupt outright denys separate parties from speaking, underhanded tactics to win elections, control over media. Canada is a first world country but a declining one at that and if something doesn't change it will easily become an impoverished country where we will only be used to have our resourced sucked dry and sold to other countries to profit off while the elite remain powerful in Canada. Canada is seriously wasted potential. Canada should have high speed rails that connect the major cities but doesn't, we don't have actually good energy infrastructure due to projects being abandoned under trudeau that would bring a lot of money back. I used to love this country but as it is now I despise it because it's become crushing to live here as a bachelor making 32k and renting

Not a bit of hard feelings about that, they had already done a lot for me, and taught me something in the process. First of all, TO STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR WAYS, since factual evidence slapped to my face that their ways were far more effective than my country's ways.\nI went back to my country after a few years, were I was able to improve my situation thanks to the qualifications they helped me earn. They did not ask me to leave, but I felt I had to do that. I realized I lacked the qualities (energy, initiative, enthusiasm) that would enable me to contribute to and continue their effort in modelling their Society, the very Society that gave me so much. Better go back, lest I may contribute to spoil it, and do my best were I belong.\nThey never asked me to repay their kindness. So I don't think they did not do enough for me, quite the opposite. It was tough, but I shall be thankful as long as I live.

Labour shortages? I have three adult children in their 20's, one has a ft job, the other two can't find work. Hundreds of resumes submitted in the last year, not even a single call for an interview.

i graduated a couple of months ago and it's been difficult for me to find a job simply because there's so many applicants. can't even find retail jobs to tide me over in the meantime bc there's so many international students desperate for work. i feel sick. i did everything right and i'm just stuck in this rut.

One has to assume that we have smart people behind the scenes that have been looking at this issues at length. They have either warned the government, and they ignored it, or there is something else at work. Perhaps the government KNOWS they will cause a housing crisis, and it's BY DESIGN!!! How many politicians out there own, or rent out their properties to gain income. This inflation will REALLY help their portfolio $$$. They are taking advantage of the crisis! If you spin it that way, their decisions all make sense. They do not care about Canadians at all, they only care about the already wealthy, protecting, or even gaining from the high inflation the KNEW WAS COMING. You have all been duped, and all politicians are in on it (red, blue, yellow and green!)

It's not working when they all move to the same cities. South Ontario is so over populated. Especially Toronto. Where I live we are starting to get outnumbered. I know that may sound racist but if we can't even do things bc of international students that is a problem.

Good at the end of the day, we don’t need to defund things like police, what we need is to defund school. At this point, it’s a useless system that’s been overdated. It’s does absolutely nothing for the Canadian and the Canadian working class, and just gives international student a free pass to a PR statue. Which doesn’t nothing but take up resources. At fanshew college it’s basically a place with a bunch of immigrants using it as a holding cell till they meet the requirement and what’s funny is that all fanshew Programs and degree only take not even haft of the minimum effort to pass and get a diploma. So now we are recruiting a bunch of immigrant who are gonna rely things like our society infrastructure which ends up taking away resources for people that actually contribute to this country. IMO it’s a bit of both to blame but Canada need to step there foot down and say enough is enough, I got took advantage but not anymore. I not blame the international student as the fault is the government but at some point I gonna be like can you stop abusing the system students.
