My brother accepted a tech job with a firm in the US. He always expressed his belief that Canada was not up to the US. He was elated to move to the US. Two years later he limped back to Canada, without his job, and without his love for US culture. He seldom speaks of his time in the US.\n\nThis is not to say that his experience is the experience of every Canadian moving to the US, or that it is even typical, but it was his experience for whatever than counts.\n\nI think that this may be a much different experience for US citizens born and raised in their own culture.

What bothers me the most is how Canada prioritizes low skill workers over high skilled. Came here 2 years ago on work permit, both wife and I are tech professionals with over 10 years of work ex in global organizations. I honestly wouldn't mind going back to India or any other country once my visa expires as I know my skills are enough to land a job anywhere (got a job in 1.5 months here). Value add to the economy must also be kept in mind while choosing your permanent residence by the government, how it works in US.

Unfortunately it is not true that a majority of the Indians are highly qualified. To be honest many of the Indian students here have poor communication skills and questionable qualifications. What is needed is a more careful selection process. I know of some Indians who are highly trained well educated and an asset to Canada especially in the health and tech fields. At the same time I see many who are not able to pass basic language tests let alone professional examinations.

The Canada/USA border is a bigger risk to Canada. More drugs come into Canada from USA than the other way around. And almost ALL our crime guns come from USA. Our border has been an issue for Canadians for many many years

If Canada has strong border security and inspect all those shipping containers it would eliminate 95% of stolen vehicles which has become a massive criminal enterprise in Canada that has led to death, massive insurance increases and rampant crime. It should be noted the an International Drivers License can be good to have, but it does not cover dogsleds. You have to take a separate mush test to drive your dogsled in Canada. You would be bringing your own sled, right?
