Hi Jason, this is a very nice video that you have put up. I am going to begin the entire process. However, I would be grateful if you could clarify on below points.\n\n1.In the British council site there are three exams for IELTS, Book paper based and computer delivered ielts (academic and general training), IELTS for UK visas and immigration (academic and general training?, IELTS life skills (A1 and B1). Which test should I take? \n\n2.If my application has been rejected can I apply for it again?\n\n3.Based on your experience what would be the Canadian equivalent of a three yr course of B.com in India?\n\n4. Do these crs scores fluctuate? like at times they are high and at times they are low\n\n5.Will my score increase if I happen to do a masters (part time) after I submit my application? \n\n6.Also I am doing a one year diploma in freight forwarding (its validated by an international agency called fiata), will they accept that score as well if I submit it?\n\nSorry for the long post, will appreciate any kind of response. Thank you.

If I intend to apply for express entry, should I be writing academic IELTS or general...? On the other hand if I am going for student visa, which IELTS I be writing. If I write general IELTS and get 8 band, would it be good for both express entry as well as student visa

This is the best journalistic approach I've seen on this matter so far. Yet it still lacks a deepening on the fact that racism and other kinds of discrimination are not exclusively practiced by white people. Had the same experiments been performed in places where other ethnic or cultural groups are the majority, the results most probably would evidence their biases in favor of their own pairs. This evidences that there is an inherent component in discriminatory behavior that goes well beyond of an evil mindset. It’s clear that in general people tend to better identify with those that look like themselves and fear those who don’t. This has been imprinted in our minds all along our species evolution. Could we change that? Yes. Should we change it? Definitely. But it’ll not work if these subtleties are not accounted for and we oversimplify the matter by just pointing fingers to a specific group as the villain.

It is sad to see the results of this test however I believe that discrimination runs much deeper than just colour of skin and or ethnic origin. I would love to see a similar test done that shows how disabled persons get treated not just by the general public but also how they get treated by those of authority such as police forces.

Are ethnic minorities tested? Do these people also have a preference for their own ethnic group? These tests are inherently biased... given that people generally prefer that with which they are familiar.

A good approach would be to enforce the laws that the state follows, in this case harassment. Treating harassers like any harasser would be treated. I don't think targeting specific groups is a good approach. Because when you do that you generalize and punish innocent people also. Attempt to make the laws fair and are capable of being implemented to every offender equally.

Canada is better in many aspects but in general wayyy better , in Usa u can make money ,make good business less taxes ok better weather in some places mayb less boring ,BUT in Canada u r treated as a human being ur children get free education, free health care ,child benefits, welfare, many otther benefits, , see usa worship money ,capitalism , guns, violence, and wars they dont give a shit about human s health or life, see Canadians are healthier than most American .in USa see how they treat Black Africans Americans they never wanted to admit that they are full Americans just like white they worked hard but they wanted to keep them under their feet by keeping them in ghettos to keep the white supremacy !! NO way to compare Canada to USA there no wayyy!!i lived in anada and i can tell even nature in Canada is waay better is amazing !!!

You say that both countries are very patriotic but I must say, as a Canadian, I really don’t see the same level of “patriotism” here in Canada than in the States. It’s definitely not expressed the same way. Maybe being from Quebec is influencing my view on this a bit haha, but no I don’t think I would have used the adjective “patriotic” to describe Canadians in general. I don’t mean we hate our country, but it’s not like at the centre of our thoughts constantly.

So here is a taste of the flood that happens in the US. \nPersonally, I blame media and government in Latin American countries. There is a lot of propaganda, incentive, and encouragement by both to the general populous to travel. The price is thousands if not millions of stories like this involving shattered dreams of courageous people.

People don’t understand the reasons why people flee their home countries in the first place. They’re seeking refuge from public threats that their governments have failed countless time to crack down on. My grandparents and my own mother came here from Mexico illegally, but they eventually became naturalized US citizens through hard work, hope and determination. They left because of the rampant crime and violence taking place in the streets of Monterrey, Nuevo León. I was born here in this country in 2003, by sheer fortune alone. But that couldn’t have been possible if my family didn’t sacrifice all they had, just to be able to feel safe. It’s not lack of security, it’s lack of compassion and being able to understand what other humans go through. Fear-mongering and generalization of a certain group is atrocious, and should by no means be tolerated. Only through fair evaluation and hard work should a person be judged.

I don't know why people are shocked that illegal immigration is frowned upon. The days of looking for warm bodies to settle a frontier are over. There's a backlog of LEGAL immigration and any time a country needs more people they can generally turn on the tap. Illegal immigration has no benefits for the host nation over legal immigration.

As a Canadian-American I can only say the majority of Canadians are not nicer as the big cities such as Toronto are terrible but people in more suburban and rural areas are generally kinder than in the states

In Los Angeles, many, many, many African Americans work in the Library system from Librarians to Social Workers, to General Workers to Security to Maintainance to trash details to teachers, to landscapers.\nAs an African American, I do feel WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST LIBRARY SYSTEMS IN THE WORLD!

Good neighbor, anyone who is a visible minority shouldn't feel fear in their home nor Canada in general. It sickens me to see this behavior taking place here.

Introduce policies for double blind testing procedures since doing so would be a great first step. This helps to remove bias in certain fields and a great example is in orchestra's. Since it's implementation they've seen a rise in the diversification and equalization in general. This might be a good way to resolve the issue in education and employment which in turn could spread to the general society. It also helps to ensure that the most qualified individuals get the jobs and not those who happen to have connections.

Watched the full 10 minutes. While I heard a bunch of generalized rhetoric, there is not one single concrete example and proposed solution to said example. What’s the point of that if there is indeed a problem, and you actually care about solving it??

I think Canada’s proximity to the USA desensitized us to its problems. Canadians have a long history of defining themselves by the fact that they are NOT American but that doesn’t shield us from the fact that we have some growing to do. We have generally more socially favorable welfare programs than the US but that doesn’t mean there isn’t systematic racism, it just means it’s shown and expressed in different ways

I've been 6 years here in Canada ... It's the first time I know that when I used to be asked if I need any help, they were actually checking if I am stealing ... I never took it that way .. I always took it positively and that people are being nice to customers ... I prefer to stay in my naivety ... it's easier ... in the other hand as a part time Uber/Lyft driver ... from the middle east ... white riders were generally the best and most polite (apart from very few drunk riders) ... they are miles better than all other races .. including people of my own country ...

think some of these tests should be structured better to make us more aware of our *actions towards different races in specific situations and suggestions to improve collectively. we already know most ppl have a higher pref for whites..most ppl generally have prejudice views but whats ur point?? we already know this and why but what can we do to change as a society??

i mean ive worked alot of retail and we are generally trained to approach customers regularly... retailers like best buy if they are going from section to section will often have different staff approach them simply due to how employees are trained and the fact that generally they work off commission. i can see how this can be seen as being watched. if its the same staff member over and over thats a different story.
|
| 2020-05-30 | 0 |
id say I think it's just a general concept we are all more comfortable with our own then other races I personally think it's just how it is buuuut this don't excuse a professional standpoint either search everyone or don't judge someone your meant to be a pro not a merc

I used to feel angry, when ignored by shop assistants, for whitees ,but I studied things closely, and found that whites dress up .....properly most of the time ,when going to these stores, and shabby looking white people dont get treated, better than blacks......so it gets down to the selfish silliness of the employee....as to who will actually buy their wares, and ensure their pay. Whites generally have a better earning power,so the incentives are aimed at them.

Your using colluculisms that aren't reality. Not to disregard your efforts but your narrative is far from reality. One investigative pursuit doesn't generalize Canadians opinions so what is your motto?

But in general most Canadian are very good human beings . That’s why most of us feel safe and love the place and people here . Bag people are there in every country it’s something to live with .

Police are not selected for intelligence, they are selected based on their ability to follow orders. In the USA, people who score high on police tests are not picked to move on to the next step in the hiring process. Police agencies in general only want officers who can do what they are told and who do not have any issues bending the law.

Terrible social experimentation, also boarders on unethical to experiment on the unknowing public!!!! Racism is bad but provoking sexism, violence and prejudice for the sake of a social experiment. Personally I question if it is even legal to conduct social experimentation on the general public???

|
| 2020-02-20 | 0 |
Great discussion. There are allies. Let’s factor that in to the judgements and division that can occur if the take away from many is implied that all Whites are racist. Because the generalizations breed hatred for large groups no matter their colour. Talk and educate and all of us be kind.

Why do white countries feel the need in bringing over every 3rd world country's people ? You don't see this in China or Asia in general, Africa all the countries there and lets not forget India. So why do we feel like we can't have our own countries, everyone else has theirs

When Islam is being nice, it is so they can be accepted into your country. They are tolerant when they are not strong and don't have power. When they have enough and are strong then they change for the worse.
\n
\nTHIS IS A COPY/PASTE FROM A MUSLIM WEBSITE. Muhammad himself hoisted the standard of killing, looting, massacres and bloodshed. How can we deny the entire history? The behaviour of our Holy Prophet as recorded in authentic Islamic sources is quite questionable from a modern viewpoint. The Prophet was a charismatic man but he had few virtues. Imitating him in all aspects of life (following the Sunnah) is both impossible and dangerous in the 21st century. Why are we so helplessly in denial over this simple issue?
\nWhen the Prophet was in Mecca and he was still not powerful enough he called for tolerance. He said “To you be your religion, and to me my religion” (109:6).
\nThis famous quote is often misused to prove that the general principle of Qur’an is tolerance. He advised his follower to speak good to their enemies (2: 83), exhorted them to be patient (20:103) and said that “there is no compulsion in religion” (2:256). But that all changed drastically when he came to power. Then killing and slaying unbelievers with harshness and without mercy was justified in innumerable verses. The verses quoted to prove Islam’s tolerance ignore many other verses that bear no trace of tolerance or forgiveness. Where is tolerance in this well-known verse “Alarzu Lillah, Walhukmu Lillah.” (The Earth belongs to Allah and thus only Allah’s rule should prevail all over the earth.)

In general: All people are biased, in some form and magnitude. This is something built into our DNA, from millions of years of evolution and experience, of meeting, living and/or engaging whit other people. The human brain, central nervous- and hormonal system have changed very little in the latest 20.000 years. The only thing we can do are learn or at least not act on our biased thoughts. On top of this, we have events in our lives, what we have learned from family, friends and people in our closest environment, political views/trends, our environment in general and personality treats which affects us all. What we can do to minimize this is first admitting to our selves what biases we harbour, and not act to the biases. \nThe thing is, we are all alike, but live, learn and/or act differently. We can treat people as we want to be treated ourselves and treat ourselves with the same principle we treat others.\n\n\nBe nice, treat people with the same respect as you demand.

The canadians are as cold as their weather...poor guy got rejected after such a DUMB MOVE .Generally speaking living in the US is way easier than in Canada ,where you have to be a genius (overqualified) to get almost any decent job.Not to mention the brutal winters (except vancouver) Only 2 good things about canada : it's healthcare and safety . Much easier to have a comfortable life in the US despite being undocumented .You just have to keep a low profile and be a law abiding citizen. The american economy is simply the BIGGEST in the planet .So many businesses : someone will give you a chance ...as simply as that !

Personally, I have the upmost respect towards the percentage of people who practice their religion’s peacefully and with peaceful intent. However, I have absolutely no respect towards the percentage of people who practice their religion’s violently and with violent intent. Instead, I feel disappointment towards the percentage of people who practice their religion’s violently. They have put themselves into a position of being easy targets for manipulation. Through manipulation they are being misguided and eventually radicalized.\nWhich is twisting their perspective upon reality causing them to say and do things that they normally would not say or do.\nPersonally, that is why I generally never became interested in religion.

Very sad to see such disease crawling up from the US to Canada ??. I doubt that guy even understands or read about sharia? He is so flat, even in general knowledge, that can’t tell a Sikh from a Muslim even though both have been there in Canada before he was born! He only heard about Sharia and he took everything into his own hand to rid Canada of the evil sharia forces! And why the hell Is sharia even discussed when Canada has its own civil (secular) laws! Come on the guy is a human being and he wants to rid the entire world of the evils of sharia, in Canada and outside!

I am sorry but You are absolutely wrong.May be its your personal experience but just remember you convey this message to 964,068 people, it means you have to talk about general experience of International Students. Don't demotivate to innocent new comers. I am also in Canada since 2018. As you said about job troubles but you should know about Canadian rules and regulations for work and how conscious they are for any workers.
