Canada is pathetically expensive. Can't believe a country with oil has such runaway inflation and high taxes. Make middle East look like heaven,no rights no citizenship but cheap living and enough earning to support family and future.

Most of this is accurate, except there are plenty of homes in Canada under $400 000. The problem is with the higher rates and stress test (which is another huge factor as to why people are leaving) it's difficult to be approved for enough to even purchase a cheap home. Also the competition for cheaper homes is brutal. Even with an income over $70 000 a year your looking at maybe being approved for $270 000 right now. Not many livable houses for that price in Ontario near jobs. Canada is not the same place anymore. Another problem is wages going down or becoming stagnant due to immigration. I have personally seen both security and the trucking industries nearly destroyed because of this. When entry level and mid-range trained jobs aren't making the wage you need to live, you don't have many choices but to go somewhere you can afford.

England is a country not a religion. We have a government for rule, not a church or anything else. You believe what you want but dont insist that others do the same. You forgot to mention the extremely toxic work environment at least in healthcare where I was employed although I did work in retail for awhile which was just as bad. The backstabbing is unbelievable especially if you're new to the area. Smaller towns are not friendly and even if you're only from the next town over, you are looked as an intruder. Banking sucks.. Still dealing through the mail (Postal mail).. (Mails not e-mails). I simply can't get that.. the tax agency - CRA sends communications through the mail, and the same with any other agency.. Comon.. grow up is what I feel at times..!! Ma'am, you have rightly said its a matter of one's individual temperament, priorities, expectations, and domestic conditioning. I know from experience of living in Canada, China, Japan and Sweden for over 25 years, your take would have been the same in any EU or American country. Of course, all sorts of handymen and cleaning services are available at a single phone call, but they're expensive which is why everyone keeps a tool kit and does most little things themselves. Only for complicated stuff we call professionals. If you can forget the maasis back home, these can be great countries to live in. Think again!

I know he rented it out for 2.200 cad in 2019, today it's probably close to 3.000 cad. That same 500sq ft 1BR.

1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

This is not just a canada Problem but is being faced world over. Its never easy to immigrate to a country. People fail to research and understand the challenges they would face and how to overcome them. They usually have a well paid job and decide to move to canada thinking its easy then cry about the smallest inconveniences. You are moving to canada to live a better life and turn your life around, start by changing yourself first to be more canadian and western ( ideologies). ... And here is why:\n1. Insanely expensive housing with next to none disposable income left in the pocket. \n2. Inability to get into the real estate market unless $$$ was brought in as an investment. This will leave locals and people who were born in Canada left out for good even further. \n3. Extremely competitive job market. Newcomers will have to suffer for a long time to break-in. \n4. Depression and drug addiction is everywhere. It's more deadly than covid but the government can't address the problem because they lose control for good. \n5. Canada is far away from many other places, which makes things worse as you feel trapped in a workcamp with no place to escape. \n6. The cost of living is getting much faster with the salaries significantly behind year after year. \n7. Canada became the country of failed government, failed multiculturalism, too tolerant as a result. \n8. Retirement in Canada will be impossible for 95% unless you agree to live in the middle of the nowhere until depression kills you. \n9. Many who came to Canada 25+ years ago and still around felt trapped. Canada's source of immigration will likely be the poorest communities who will agree to put up with everything listed above just to get out of where they live right now. \n10. Sad, but true. Who in the hell would now want to immigrate to Canada ? Outrageous housing costs which consume most of your income . One has to work at least two to three jobs just to try to keep from completely drowning economically . A healthcare system which is on life support . It is next to impossible to get a doctor . Emergency waits times at hospitals can range from 4 to 24 hours . Traffic from hell in all of the major cities .... particularly Toronto , Montreal and Vancouver . The crushing cost of living . A political leader who is a complete fool who has basically destroyed the country in just 8 years . As if all of this wasn't bad enough ...... 5 months of winter from hell . Living in Canada is now an extreme struggle in every way imaginable . One will always struggle . One will always work like a dog . One will very likely fall into extreme debt in Canada just to survive . One has to pay outrageous taxes on their income leaving them with about 50% of what they actually earn after they have paid all of the combined taxes on everything that they buy or services that they use . Forget about ever being able to save money . Incomes are about about 35% less than other advanced than those in other advanced countries for the same skilled job . One will never own a home . One will never be able to start a family . One will always freeze in the winter . Life in Canada has become an absolute hell . The Canadian dream is as dead as dead can be . It is no longer a country where one can earn a decent living , own a home and live a good life . On top of all of this it has an authoritarian government which keeps passing new laws to reduce free speech and civil rights .

I resigned from a comfortable position in a top international IT company when I decided to come to Canada, only because I saw Canada as a country that was the best, even unmatched in maintaining humanitarian values above any politics or foreign policy. I am now considering leaving like many others, not due to a lack of opportunities or living needs but a seemingly severe lack of morals, disregard for humanity, and undermining human rights for the sake of politics and foreign policies of the government amid the current carnage in Palestine. When you see hundreds of thousands of Canadians, including Jews, protesting on the streets of Canada, demanding that Canada push for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine, and see no reaction from the government because they are afraid to annoy the USA, you wonder if the government really represents the nation's will.

I have worked in the oil industry for the last 30 years and through constant attack from Canadians in places that dont have an oil industry the industry in Canada is a shell of what it once was. I gained employment in the US 5 years ago and moved to the US 2 years ago. I and my family have applied for green cards. I appreciate living in a country where individual rights and freedoms are enshrined within the constitution.

I mean we have people here that can't even speak English or French and are accepted by immigration. Some people openly says that they hate Canada and are only here to send money to their family in their own country. ? We are getting older and that window is closing fast ?

This reportage is totally right. \nI choose to live in Canada in 2005 I became citizen in 2010 but my experience, knowledge and University diploma are no valuable in Canada so I'm planning go back to my hometown where I used to live better than in Canada, lots of Canadians are considered to move there ( En el mar la vida es más sabrosa ) ???☀️?

Canada needs cheap labour !!! has high cost of living and low wages , who in the right mind would go there ?? dead beats only.

Multicultural = Failed. Here is why (in my opinion) there is no reason to move in any big cities in Canada, and in Canada in general. \n1. Insanely expensive housing with next to none disposable income left in the pocket. \n2. Inability to get into the real estate market unless $$$ was brought in as an investment. This will leave locals and people who were born in Canada left out for good even further. \n3. Extremely competitive job market. Newcomers will have to suffer for a long time to break-in. \n4. Depression and drug addiction is everywhere. It's more deadly than covid but the government can't address the problem because they lose control for good. \n5. Canada is far away from many other places, which makes things worse as you feel trapped in a workcamp with no place to escape. \n6. The cost of living is getting much faster with the salaries significantly behind year after year. \n7. Canada became the country of failed government, failed multiculturalism, too tolerant as a result. \n8. Retirement in Canada will be impossible for 95% unless you agree to live in the middle of the nowhere until depression kills you. \n9. Many who came to Canada 25+ years ago and still around felt trapped. Canada's source of immigration will likely be the poorest communities who will agree to put up with everything listed above just to get out of where they live right now. \n10. Sad, but true. I have seen a steady decline in Canada since 1998. Things get worse every year.

this is scary. we don’t even know who we’re letting into our own country. and with everything currently going on, who knows how many of them are sleeper agents or terrorists sent to destroy the country from within? especially with a vast majority of them being fighting age men? islamic extremists, terrorists, all people we’re letting cross into our country FREELY, and supporting and encouraging BETTER than our own citizens?!\n\nmany of them hate the very country, people, and values they’re illegally entering and eventually overpopulating and mass influencing. eventually these same people will hold positions of power, and the sheer number of them is absolutely overwhelming and can’t be ignored, with the number increasing each day our borders remain open, and security and stricter laws aren’t enforced. and with the constant display of weakness and incompetence from our “leaders”, they may just be emboldened. i’m afraid that one day, they may just rise up and commit mass terrorism. looting, murder, are all possibilities. and with the sheer number of them, we wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. they would be the ones in power now. thing is, our country supports and helps the illegals who hate them more than their own citizens. it’s absolutely treasonous. the longer our borders remain unprotected and wide open, their numbers will only increase, and so will their terrorism. \n\nnot only that, but the amount of illegals we constantly let in and those who are already in, are absolutely negatively impacting our country’s economy, living conditions, population is increasing, many of which are illegals and are a danger to our society, their numbers increasing by the day and taking over our country from within and them holding positions of power, homelessness and cost of living is rising, debt and inflation also keep rising, etc. it’s all bad. \n\nmass deportations must be enforced, but even then, im afraid that too many of them have already infiltrated the country. and considering how our own government hates us and spends billions on everything else BUT their own citizens. it’s not looking good and has huge potential to explode into something terrifying. \n\nthis is already a massive ongoing threat in america, and the possibility of it happening here in Canada becomes more likely the longer our borders are open, and the longer stricter laws and more protective and security measures aren’t being enforced. canada must be canada FIRST with the safety, security, and well-being of our citizens FIRST. \n\nthough with the constant numbers, and the continued ignorance, evil, and corruption in our government, i’m afraid they’re already here waiting for the right moment to strike us. \n\nthat’s why above all, we can’t rely on our leaders to do anything or bring us peace. the only one who can, is Jesus Christ. the one who gave His life for us and gave us the free gift of salvation. all we must do, is follow him, pick up our crosses, have faith in him, and have a relationship with him. \n\nwe must all repent of our sins and lovingly follow him. that is all that matters. Yes we are moving away I live in Australia and everybody I know where I live we all moved out of the state because they were taking over domestic violence disrespect to other women as soon as I moved I was like wow what a better environment I can go out I’m respected men are not doing all of that stuff to me and I was like what a better place and everybody I know up here ran away as well we are all trying to live in areas and states where it’s less and everybody is like I said this would happen I said this would happen and it just infect the other men that are messed up and have a domestic violent mindframe it’s like yeah you’re free ticket to take this religion on and abuse more women so it’s not helping our culture it’s giving them a reason to do it more where we are trying to evolve and fight for women’s rights because of all of mankind is dominantly taking women’s power away and abusing women

I have been living in London for 23 years. I came here when I was in my late twenties but I miss india like anything, specially now for last 4-5 years. I keep thinking that wish we stayed in India. Practically it’s all OK but emotionally now I want to be at home with my extended family and my childhood friends. I know many people here living for so many years, but could never make so kind of close friends. When you are older, you start missing home badly and look back and think if it was right to move this far from home. It’s not the perspective of everyone for sure but of many including many of the people I know. It’s lonely here.

Chorkor, I live in the US. Whoever you use as your PA, taking calls on your behalf is a disaster.
