To be honest this is not just a Canada problem, I work in recruitment in Canada across from Ontario to Vancouver remotely from South Africa. Its pretty much the same here. Most people live paycheck to paycheck. I manage to save despite also studying still and working, and life, but if i was working like my peers jobs here. I'd still live at 33 at my parents. That a lot of people do. \n\nI think its an international issue. But the reasons like safety, winter and cold, religion, definitely look at asian countries for sure. \n\nWent to Vietnam last year, the level of safety was amazing there, if you could keep Salary from Canada and move to a country like that you can live extremely comfortable.

Remember refugees and asylum seekers aren't supposed to work until their claims are approved. How many businesses are paying the migrants in cash? It's one thing if the immigration process was well organized and all the immigrates were working and paying taxes. But now the provinces are begging for funding to deal with all the new comers and only Quebec is getting support from the federal government. Most mirgants just come here to try to have a better life but in reality the politicians don't care if they end up on welfare. It's super sad Canadians are dying of drug addictions on the streets and the federal government is still insisting massive immigration is going to keep them in power or solve Canada's failing economy or prop up Canada's pension plan.

And other Canadian cities could stop collecting garbage all the time and not fix their roads because many people can't afford to pay their property taxes due to high employment. The globalists want 15 minutes cities. The federal government is assuming massive immigration will solve Canada's aging population. It won't. Health care is actually better in 2nd and 3rd countries if you have the money. Even if your home country is at war, it's still better than the drug crisis in the major cities of Canada. No joke. Now, does everyone get it? Canada can not afford to pay for any social programs, even with taxing the middle class to death. This isn't about racism or blaming any mirgants it's about corrupt dishonest politicians who will increase the number of children living in poverty. Canada is the worst place to immigrate to! There’s just no good everywhere. I was born in the U.S but sick of the crime, politics, inflation so I have considered Canada and now all this crap about Canada. There’s not a ton of countries where all you need is English. Australia is way too expensive and in the middle of nowhere. My children and me are multi-racial never fit anywhere. So sick of life.

I never voted for Trudeau. EVER! And before you think I am a CP supporter, I am not. I am not a Conservative. Yet when he came to power I knew it would be a disaster for this country. In the last 10 years Trudeau's Administration--or considered lack thereof--has just devastated us. His Liberal Government is absolutely disgusting. 500,000 new immigrants a year, bring them on we have plenty of tents, parks, alleys and food banks for them to have totally miserable life just like the rest of us. To be honest the immigrants (truckers mostly, I'm a shipper/ receiver) I've talked to have told me that they would not recommend Canada to any of their friends and family, and that they can't save enough money to leave themselves. Highly skilled immigrants from India are always welcome anywhere, like in the US where they have added tlmutiple times to the economy. Canada, unfortunately, is importing from Punjab ,low skilled labour that eats into Candian quality of life. These youth from Punjab can't integrate and is a burden to the economy, as they rake up zero value adding jobs. Truck driving and RE realtor don't add any value to the economy. I am from India, came here to do Masters. I was well placed in an MNC in India and was enjoying a good life. Now that I am in Canada, I anticipate that the standard of living I had in India, I had to earn min 300k in CAD to match. I think I am being duped with this Canada hype.

I moved to Canada last year, I repent now .. life was so easy in my country. I cannot think of buying 500 sft house here. The prices are skyrocketing , I cannot think of doing savings .. My life standard was much better back in my country. I think this Canada is thriving on immigrants money.. now that I already have spend my hard earned money from back home into Canada, I am now good for nothing , no use to this country.

Is not just house prices , that's nothing compared to many other problems with Canada. Its a simple thing. Folks are trying to leave for a better life, they then got to know about Canada giving 3years postgraduate work permit to international students who studied for two years and, there are permanent residence programs you qualify and can apply for after getting one year Canadian work experience. This is what encouraged many international students to head in this direction. Unfortunately, half of about 800,000 international students admitted to Canada came from India (if i'm not mistaken), many of them had to borrow the money to pay fees or their family sold their ancestral land or used it borrow money with the hope that when their child who they sponsored with the money is done, he/she will be the family's hope to not only pay back, but help them relocate too. However, the picture is not looking like it anymore as the demand for jobs surged and many are not able to get jobs or can't find the kind of jobs that can make them get PR and, their current work permit is about to expire, which means they may be faced with going back home with nothing so, they are pulling every string they can to stay back because, returning will mean they are a failure and can even cause their family a lot of emotional damage. Infact, i have heard of some of them who committed suicide as they are not meeting up and are not ready to go and face the shame back home. So, what you are seeing is the definition of desperation!

Twice in my life I got hired to do a job and was not paid for my work. Both times it was Indians who hired me. This was in Calgary. One of the jobs was for an Indian-run startup. New immigrants dont integrate in Canada or Canadian life. The priviledge of going to school is for study not PR. Its not a back door immigration program. You dont go to any other country and make demands or protest. Few if any go in the needed trades so time to go home. The numbers are unsustainable and its killing communities with housing and jobs as well as limited resources like healthcare and education. Governments and post secondary have failed Canadians who have had enough of paying the price and need borders closed. Clearly somewhere along the line these students are coming with false promises and expectations. With housing crisis if Colleges and Universities cant house all those they bring over on campus and provide the housing then higher caps to meet who they can house. Failure to do so close them down. Most communities are in emergency state for homelessness so of course no sympathy or tolerance for protests. Schools are for study only not a back door.

Foreign students do not give 3 or 4 years of their life for Canada. They spent this time either to get education or training or pull off an immigration scam.

Sorry, but I didn't know 'so many people' were leaving Canada. In fact, my European friends living in Canada, LOVE Canada. Their number one reason? The government is for the people. Their numerous benefits, programs and services (employment Insurance, child benefit, pensions, benefits for housing, student aid, family benefits, grants and funding opportunities, disabilities and their recently implemented dental care plan), says it all. Sure the cost of living is high, but where isn’t? Especially after covid and especially if you want a decent quality of life. Their car insurance and phone plans are also expensive but they're getting better. Stay out of the big cities if you can't afford it. There are other parts of Canada that is affordable. \n\nBtw, the healthcare industry, particularly the long-term care sector is a good place to earn a decent living. They are always looking for RNs, PSWs etc. \n\nIn the end, the positives outweigh the negatives. Besides having free healthcare and the many generous social services and benefits, Canada is also a progressive country with strong social policies, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights and environmental sustainability, (we’re drinking out of those gross cardboard straws now. Hello?). Then there is our natural and breathtaking landscapes, our four seasons, our excellent education system, diverse communities, friendly people, our cool festivals (The Calgary Stampede, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Caribana, Toronto International Film Festival, Just for Laughs Montreal, Pride Toronto are a few that come to mind), our great air and water quality, strict gun laws, legal cannabis… I could go on and on.\n\nIf you're able to afford living in Canada, consider yourself fortunate.

Corporations have too much power in Canada, and they are able to get away with too much. This amongst other things have brought the quality of life downward in Canada quickly. The greed is substantial, next to criminal and unethical.

And because housing and life is not affordable in Canada Canadians are leaving to other geographies in the global south (particularly latinamerican) to live their Canadian dream and in doing so they are really destroying the social fabric of these places. What they are doing to the Yucatán peninsula is really nasty. Local people cannot afford life at home because Canadians and US-americans are raising prices everywhere. People should demand their governments to solve the crisis, and at the dime they should organize in communities to gain back their self-determination, instead of flying to other places and continue to spread crises.

Yes!!!! I'm an RN who fled Canada due to the insane tax rates and cost of living. I now pay 24% income tax, have a higher quality of life, employer paid benefits, and access to health care within hours / days rather than years. Meaning the sub 3% rates that were acquired during the Covid years will balloon to the new 7% to 8% rates. Luckily was able to purchase a home 6 years ago in a smaller town on the outskirts of the city. Now my commute is 2 hours a day and my gas bill has tripled and all my expenses. \nThen I drive into work as an educator and can barely make it through the day bc the school system doesn’t support the amount of students. Classroom sizes doubling, no supports, classrooms taking place in hallways. Had to go on stress leave awhile back, but could barely get medical attention. Had to literally beg a doctor to take me on.. only reason I felt I got medical attention was bc he was my mom’s doctor. Yup this is life now and not fair to anyone. Problem is I feel I don’t have anywhere to “go back to” \n.. I’d leave Canada too now if I could, def. Not what it used to be.

I love that we are transforming Canada into a space for fellow South Asians. As soon as we start expanding our population and slowly introduce our culture and way of life, it'll be a safe haven for people like us. My perspective is a bit different…I grew up in Canada, I lived 4 years in Toronto, 1.5 years in Waterloo, 14 years in Ottawa and 3.5 years in Calgary…overall, just little over 23 years in Canada. I graduated from University of Waterloo and Masters from University of Ottawa. I have a strong educational foundation from Canada, which I am very proud of. I moved to Houston, TX in 2016 and my last 8 years of living in US has nothing but AMAZING!!! While living in Canada, i was never able to save any money. In my last 8 years of working and living in US, I am 90% done paying off my mortgage on a very nice 5800sq feet house in Sugarland, TX. I owe very nice 2024 Lexus and 2023 Mercedes SUV that I can only dream of in Canada…so Canada is good in so many thing (I do have a soft corner for Canada in my heart as I grew up there) but when it comes to opportunities and life style to its full potential…USA is way ahead of the game.

The problem of feeling locals as immigrants in their own country is due to addiction of drugs. So question that first. Secondly, immigrants are back bone for Canadian economy. So if we live in Canada that means we are paying taxes in our high paying jobs like physicians, IT software or establishing stores. So better not to cry on immigrants, and get a life!
