Great timing given that many Americans are looking to Canada as a new home if Trump wins in 2024. And who can blame them.

as a Canadian who is highly educated and, your list is totally on point. I was born and raised here, and at 40yo I would say that leaving has been on my mind for the past 5+ years and will be the likely scenario for me once my grandparents are no longer around. If it weren't for them, I would have left years ago. The two primary drivers for me are job opportunities and the government. One thing I will correct is the wages you presented. The vast majority of Canadians, regardless of whether they were born here or not, do NOT make 6 figures and even the high 5 figures is not as common as people like to think. I have been turned down for work because of being over-qualified more times than not and now struggle on less than 50K/yr with 2 jobs. Just trying to get a part time gig to supplement is a problem despite my decades of experience. As someone who is single, one income just does not cut it here no matter how frugal or minimalist your life is. I can't imagine what its like for those with families. Plain and simple, this country, like many, is failing.

I wonder if the reason so many in so many places believe that medical care is a problem is actually a matter of expectations. I know that in the 90s, my little town in Kansas had as many imaging machines as the entire country of Canada, but Canadians were certain they had superior medical care, as did the English. Expectations.\nEven then, if something was so bad that only a silver bullet treatment would possibly help, they still send patients to the USA because they are not equipped to help. Quiet management.\nBut basic medical, especially if you don't have much money, was traditionally better in England. I don't think Canadians had choices, but the functional reality was similarly better than in the States. Expectations.\nFor some time, Americans have had a sense that miracles are practical things that happen all the time, just pull out all the stops to keep grandma in agony another week. This has been reinforced by the civil courts. It is dangerous to be a doctor who does not recommend EVERYTHING be done to prolong life, even miserable life. Insane expectations that waste a lot of money. \nBut basic medical? Just shut up and go to work. Expectations.\nA century ago, there were no significant differences in expectations amongst developed countries because the expectations, based on the technologies of the day, were the same. Plus, there was only so much that could be done, so the total costs of everything were predictable and could be paid for publicly or privately less angst or disappointment. Expectations.\nWhen the technologies change like they have been in medicine in this century, it's good guess that so do expectations. It's also a good bet that there is a mismatch between expectations and available resources. Broken system.

Canada has been turned into a woke hellhole now. The price of living is insane I dont understand how anyone can afford to live after paying the crazy rents and expensive food and bills. The communist gov is out of control as well. I can not wait to retire and got out of this place. Voters are braindead is all I can come up with... I just dont get it. Yes they have the right to their land but they think all Israel is their land which is ludicrous. There were a small number of Jews who never left Israel when conquered so many times. More over, it’s very convenient for him to say “we don’t want them to leave, they don’t want to leave” you mean I don’t want to have the burden to support them, let’s just keep them there and tell them they need to stay. If there are people who want to leave to safety and come back later, they should be allowed and all Arab countries should help the most. Finally, when he says stop the killings… I hope you referring to Hamas. After all he attacked in an inhuman way murdering innocent people and taking so many hostages in which a 9 month baby now his first birthday will be coming up and these savages still have him. So again, is he referring to Hamas? I doubt it!

If anybody had to leave It’s the Israeli settlers who landed as refugees on the shores of Palestine in 1958 seeking safety from the pogroms in Europe to later occupy Palestine and ethnically cleanse 750,000 Palestinians after wiping out 400 villages and terrorising them to flee to neighbouring countries. Many in Gaza are refugees for a 2nd time and now again being slaughtered and bombed… Free Palestine ??

These problems have gotten a lot worse in the last 8 years. I think the main issue is immigration. We are bringing in more people than what we can deal with. I am not against immigration, but just like all the other things the current federal government has done, they are doing immigration wrong. They think immigration is good, so tthey open the hose fully to bring in as many as possible. This is a bad strategy. They should be bringing in a lot less immigrants and that would lessen the housing issues. I think that this is destabilizing our economy to the point where it could have a dire outlook on Canada. I wouldn't be surprised if some provinces leave confederation. What we need is a balanced approach to all things governmental. Not a LEFT or RIGHT solution, a BALANCED CENTRIC solution. Time to vote differntly.

I immigrated to Canada in 2010, and here are my experiences inside and outside Canada. I am grateful for a good education; having a Canadian passport opened up many opportunities in other countries to build a higher-level career. However, if I had known the amount of stress, health, and financial damage that I had to endure, I wouldn't have chosen to come to Canada. I would have remained in the US or EU countries where I could achieve even more without suffering to the level I did here. \n\nMisleading immigration promotion: The government-sponsored Canadian immigration program oversells what Canada can offer. It withholds information on the cost of living, chicken-and-egg problems like Canadian work experience is required to get a job at the same level as you are in, Canadian credit history is required to rent a proper apartment, Canadian education is required to secure a high-level job, etc. \n\nHiring process: I knew the Canadian system was not ideal for immigrants over a decade ago, but it got so bad now that even the born citizens are unable to survive. The Canadian government and employers lack a basic understanding that ambitious, high-achieving people immigrate to other countries for high-level positions using proper channels. It's ridiculous to see that Canada uses a point-based system to choose highly qualified personnel to enter their country yet expects them to pursue low-paying entry-level or labor jobs just because they have brown/black skin. At first, I thought having a Canadian degree and experience might help me get high-level jobs, and I didn't think how I spoke or looked would matter when I had high credentials to show off. So, I got my masters & Ph.D. from the Univesity of Toronto, which consistently ranks #1 in Canada. I have a bachelor's from a prestigious university in Asia and had a high-competitive, well-paid federal government job in another country. Still, none of that was recognized in Canada, and I had to volunteer for over 6 months, 10 to 12 hours/day, in a research lab that led to a funded PhD program. I worked even harder during my Ph.D. with many accomplishments, like 40+ research and leadership awards, internationally recognized scientific discoveries, and innovative technologies. I checked all the above and beyond in various domains (research, teaching, leadership, business, engineering consulting, collaborations, etc.). Yet, employers couldn't see past my race, gender, age, etc., and refused to give me the opportunity at the level of my qualifications. Luckily, I managed to secure short-term work in the UK & the US, and it changed even how I see myself. I was highly respected for my credentials, given higher positions than I applied for, and paid 3-4 times more salary and benefits. Of course, bias is an integral part of every society, but my race, gender, age, etc., were not as big of an issue to begin my career at the mid-career stage in these countries as opposed to Canada. \n\nHealthcare: Access to healthcare was another big challenge for me. When I moved to Canada in 2010, due to extremely low temperatures, I developed hives all over my body, my eyes got red, and I coughed for many months. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and refused to give me any medication. It took us years to get a family doctor, and we got one through my personal network. In 2015/2016, I developed an autoimmune disease, and my eyeballs popped out. As of today, I did not get to see an eye specialist as they have only 1 specialist in the area, and the waiting time is for years for the first consultation. Every time the family doctor told me that I had iron deficiency, even when I insisted that they should run additional tests and they cleared, they were flagged. The doctor never diagnosed my autoimmune condition. Luckily, during my short-term work in the UK, I saw competent interns who completed my care. NHS is poorer than the medical system in Canada... they are understaffed, don't have hospital beds after surgery, or don't have stock of paper gowns, yet the staff are highly competent and caring. Within 1-2 years, they did complete diagnosis by sending me to various specialists, completed eye surgery, and even found a lifelong condition that was preventing me from realizing my full potential. Following, in the US, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis of all the conditions within 1-2 months and put me on two small pills for life. It has dramatically changed my life, and I have even more admiration for the medical profession. While in Canada, I suffered for over a decade, and every time, I was treated as a hypochondriac and never given a single prescription. \n\nQuality of life: Big cities like Toronto are mainly affected by high crime rates, overpopulation, cost of living, low employment, low salaries, etc. A few months back, there was a huge auto theft, and one of my contacts lost their Lexus car within minutes of parking. Despite being a scientist, I have no faith in politicians or individuals fixing these problems. The salaries are not increasing, but the taxes and cost of living are on the exponential growth curve. The ridiculous part is that Canada expects you to pay taxes even when you are not employed or living in Canada! I lived in London and Boston, and they offer a much higher quality of life and pay. \n\nGrowth potential: No wonder Canada, being a G7 country, falls at the bottom of the list in innovation, equal opportunities, economic growth, etc. It has a decent education system but, due to its inherent bias in the hiring process and monopoly of certain businesses, loses talented immigrants and highly qualified Canadians to the US, the UK, and EU markets. Unless there is a dramatic shift in policies, Canadians, especially new immigrants, cannot expect any positive experience in Canada except for being discriminated against and losing valuable time and money by being there.

The root cause of frequent wars, killings, murders, arrests, harassment is that Palestinians have been removed from their land, homes and farmlands. If they can receive what was taken from them by force by the Israelis then the area shall return to peace. Simple: the occupation has to brought to an end. Period.\n\nIf the Palestinians are to be removed from Gaza and West Bank into other Arab nations that would be giving victory to the Israelis who have two main objectives: (1) to remove all Palestinians from Palestinian lands(ethnic cleansing mission) (2) to claim ownership of the entire Palestinian territory (complete occupation of all of Palestine).\n\nFor me, if it comes to the worst senerio, the Palestinians can be given an option, either to seek safety elsewhere in other nations as refugees, if they want to, or to remain on their own land at all costs. \n\nI know most Palestinians shall choose to stay back. Remember, Jerusalem is a blessed holy land for Muslims. There are so many religious benefits for staying there. Every Muslim dreams of being a frequent visitor or native of the holy land in Palestine. Infact, they await both the messiah(Jesus peace be upon him) and the mahdi who shall come to lead them in to posperity in that land. So, they are not going anywhere. The Palestinian Muslims shall continue to live there until the end of time.

When so many Palestinian Houses have been decimated by the bombing and the infastucture destroyed there will be thousands in desperate need of rapidly but well built homes if they are to remain on their land. I'd like to suggest something. The Chinese have recently come up with a way to extremely quickly build modular homes that can both be stably stacked high and dissassembled and moved to another location. If the design is made appropriate for the regions climate this could be a great solution. I hope it could be done ecologically and with healthy materials. The longer they go without housing the higher the mortality rate will be. This solution means people could be housed even before any final agreement is made on where the houses will be in 10 or 20 years time.

Such an evasive answer. The Arab world doesn't want the Palestinians. They have said so many times. Also, most of the humanitarian aid is being robbed by Hamas terrorists and never gets to the people. By blockade, he means the Egyptian border being closed for years, right? Oh my bad, just Israel. So many people will believe this evasie answer, it's astonishing..

No one should leave their land. You can have dignified lifed only in your home land. There are people living in UK for centuries but many times they are called outsiders on streets. Palestinians should never leave.

What are you talking about?! This is so devoid of any and all facts, it's literally laughable. We have a housing crisis because too many people want to move here. DEMAND is WAAAAY up, thats why the housing is expensive (see how that works?). We have been ranked second best country to live in, only beaten by Sweden. We are the 24th most ecpensive place to live (not exactly on top). This guy needs to learn how to research. Wow. Dude, I think it's time to go back to school.

Canada has been sold from us Canadians by our greedy politicians and corporate interests. This idea that Canada just needs to build more homes is insane. There are millions of new immigrants, student visas, and illegal borders crossings every year. Most of Canada is desolate frozen tundra, rocky mountain, bog, dense forest, and the few spots where the weather is moderate everyone wants to live. People dont want more homes to be built because we can already barely drive anywhere due to traffic congestion, no one has doctors anymore, water restrictions start in early spring, no room for kids in schools. Everything is over crowded and over priced because theres way too many people here in a short amount of time and the infrastructure isnt close to being able to support it. The only ones benefitting from these out of control immigration practices are multi national corporate interests looking for a large cheap labour pool.

If you consider yourself a liberal, and have voted for Trudeau and his party in the past, take a good hard look in the mirror, you are one of the voters who were responsible for Canada becoming this way, when he said, “the budget will balance itself.” That should have been all the hints needed for an educated person to see the liberals had no idea about anything in regards to economics, there’s a reason so many people are moving to Alberta, because truthfully, the more conservative policies are just superior when you consider how many times the liberals have exceeded their budgets

Many recent immigrants I have known have left Canada because the cost of living is too high. From my experience they work very hard, usually working 60+ hours a week. After some time they crunch the numbers and realize no matter how hard they try they will not get anywhere so they leave. For those born in Canada we find ourselves being chased out of our hometowns because it is too expensive to live there. For myself it was either stay in Vancouver, surrendering more than half of your income to rent or move out of the city to buy an apartment. In the major cities there is a mass exodus of young people and the strategy has been to replace that exodus with immigration. The problem is that is not sustainable as now new immigrants, seeking a better life are not finding it in major Canadian cities. For those who already own property in the lower mainland the selfish mentality is to do whatever you can to deny construction, thus maintaining the scarcity and value of what little land/housing there is in desirable areas. Zoning laws are beginning to change but progress is slow and municipalities have failed to keep up with infrastructure so the growing pains is going to be immense. It's beautiful here now doubt but if I had no ties and a solid financial footing I would have left long ago. Generations ago you could show up to Canada with no money and thrive if you were willing to work hard. Now hard work won't get you anything.

Several factors played a role in the housing crisis. Governments stopped building new affordable homes long time ago. Many rental apartments have been converted into condominiums. And the ones still in the market have seen ownership consolidation over the last decade. Many existing condominium/house renters have chosen short term Airbnb over long term renters. A not-so-insignificant percentage of home/condominium buyers choose not to rent or live in properties they buy. They hold them like commodities such as gold and silver. On top of all these, you have mass immigration over the last decade.

Our government looks after immigrants BETTER than its own CITIZENS! ????\nFor ex. ppl who have been homeless for yrs R sleeping on the street, in tents, parks, cars etc. They receive NO help! \nYET IMMIGRANTS R getting into shelters! Like WTF?!! ? Some arrived here (in summer) with NO housing (which is ASS BACKWARDS ~ Y R U bringing ppl here when there R NO places for US to live let alone immigrants??!!) & they were sleeping in the streets/parks. Our Govt moved mountains to find THEM shelters in relatively record time but have done NOTHING to help CANADIANS who R ALREADY homeless (A LOT of them R homeless bc of cost of housing & NOT ALCOHOL/DRUG ABUSE!) Most ppl assume it’s bc of drug addiction. Im about to move from the USA to Canada, my type of visa here denies me to have a stable normal life for many reasons, also many of the issues that canadians face are the same than americans does, I belive if you try to live in Vancouver or Toronto you can not expect to save a lots of money, Im moving to a Rural very turistic area, I will have employee housing and I belive ill be able to survive and save money, not like here ofc, but I will have a more stable life in many different aspects, Im a chef so for me its normal to work long shifts which provides me of food most of the time. I still hope that I will be very happy.

this situation i also faced not only in travel, even in cinema theatres while watching movie , some girl , some time matured lady also so many times hit my seat from behind and irritated. In public places they should behave decently.

Basically, Canada decided to wear shoes way bigger than its size. Accommodating so many immigrants without any robust planning and management was a gamble that backfired the country. While i understand a country with a weak demography requires young population to contribute ti fuel its economic engine, lack of job creation and superficially overpriced real estate are the ticking time bombs waiting to go off and go beyond control soon. \nOne thing that continues to amaze me is the tolerance and acceptance of Canadians towards failed policies of its government. The protest against vaccination gained traction, but no real voice against a problem stressing every Canadian on daily basis? \nCabada must stop comparing itself to the US that has a very well planned immigration system seeking the most talented professionals in their respective fields. Canada, on the other hand, doesnt care about the quality.\nPeople have started coming to terms that there's no merit in embarking upon a life changing or rather threatening misadventure to leave everything behind for Canada. Immigration is simply too high at the moment. It's a small country in a big space. Our infrastructure did not keep up with growth for the last 20 years. This is obviously federal policy issues over the last few decades. I don't blame people for coming here, it's nice. That being said... Too many people have come here too quickly. Canada needs time to catch up.

It has a bed, couch, built-in flatscreen TV, a full fridge, oven, washer/dryer, air conditioning, and shower with tubs. You can put a couple of them together to make a 2+ bedroom etc. Demolish all the blocks of rundown houses and put boxable homes call it the boxable neighborhood, for low-income families, our Veterans, seniors, and white/metis men who are the highest in homeless. Situation of the attitudes of Visa officers and other officers in China is horrific. You don’t get visa or other certificates even after you submitted all. Just they tell you to apply and take Visa and other fees but later deny it and take 6-8 months To even deny. You feel stuck, and helpless. You don’t raise voice otherwise they will anyways not entertain if you say a word. Many times you feel stuck to be Indian Citizen. I love my country and always fight others for defending it on many issues, but what’s my mistake to suffer and feel stuck just because of being Indian. Why I am not getting simpler documents easily, which is my right. Is democracy a joke? They told to get single status certificate but in India so called IAS officers don’t know about it and throw us out as soon as they hear it. Even before throwing us out they let us come multiple times to their office to just meet them , so that they can throw us out by demeaning the integrity and regret being Indian Citizen.

They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. Dear Ana, by watching your videos I heard about Relocate Ltd and I contacted them through the link you shared with us. At the beginning of this year ( February 1st) I applied for Temporary Work Permit to Canada. Since then, they've been really kind and useful to me. However, in October my Employment coordinator informed me that she is no longer with Relocate and sent me an email for me to contact Relocate and ask for another person who should keep following up my process. I did as she recommended but after so many emails sent they didn't reply any email I've sent. I am concerned about that. Can you please, support me if you have any contact with someone from Relocate Ltd. The agreed process time was 2-9 months but it's already taking a while without succeed.

The attraction and the charm of living abroad is no longer there.\nOur country has improved so much and so fast in the last 10 years, we have good bathrooms in schools and other public places, which was not there previously. Only drawback in our country is the traffic and infrastructure, which will also become better, but will take time, because of our country's population.\nIn fact you will find servants and watchmen all coming to work in a bikes or scooters, which was unthinkable some years back. Their life has changed for the better, they live in rented flats/or on lease, their children study in good schools and so on, and they dress also so well, that you cannot differentiate between them and the people they work for.\nMany of the so called advanced countries do not have many well educated people like our country, the children there are not as knowledgeabe like Indian kids, their knowledge is limited to the town they live in, they don't know anything about the world outside.\nAnd now with the Khalistani terrorist living freely there it is all the more dangerous. With all due respect, comparing US and Canada to European in general doesn't make sense(please excuse my words). Compare them to European countries like Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg. And talking about countries with more billionaires, you can only do that on per capita basis looking at the American population as compared to these countries, and with that the statistics has proved that Scandinavia has more billionaires than US and Canada on per capita basis. Countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, France Holland and all those other countries limit you because you're not allowed to work more than one full time job at a time, but in a country like Denmark, the wages are higher and you can work as many hours as your strength can and on top of that you get free healthcare, free education, and a lot more social benefits. So these countries come no where close to a country like Denmark. The language barrier is very valid, but putting in efforts to learn languages of countries like Denmark, Norway. Switzerland is worthy than getting a degree in country like America where inflation is out the roof and debt to gdp ratio is over 90%, having to borrow 3 to 4 billion every month in 2023 to stay afloat.. You need to read more on current state of the US.. It's been predicted that in mid 2024 to the end of 2024 5000 people could lose their job every month due to companies shutting down. This is never a good time to relocate to the States! lol

As a Canadian who has lived in almost all the provinces and territories, all my life, I can tell you that a lot has changed as I think the best time or era was in the 1970's and you may have come at the worst time as the worst appears to be now when everything has become too expensive. The other problem relates to Canada, its size, the distances to travel, the smaller tax base with a smaller population than that of United States or India. This is not intended to provide excuses but most people here do not even have a family doctor as many doctors find greener pastures in the United States where the dollar is 30 percent higher in value and salaries are not limited to government health care. It is hard to change when American influence dictates much of what transpires. Homelessness hasn't been a problem but the last five years has provided more hardship for many who find it hard to cope with how things have become.

Like you, I know someone happy with their job, location, medical care and opportunities, but they are also very uncomfortable with the political situation - I'll just say it - Republicans. You need only look at Trump and its followers. Guns over lives (including kids), billionaires over poor, religion over others' freedoms (gay/trans/abortion, etc), mass spread of misinformation (Fox news, OAN, etc) and a personal selfishness and anger which was made very clear during COVID times. It makes them feel like they are walking on eggshells, at least compared to Canada where they lived before and people would look out for each other more (even if they didn't know them). They like the weather, job, opportunities, the USD buying power, and their friends, among many other things, but it just feels excessively risky to them dealing with the combinations of these things. I can completely understand why they and others might want to leave the US.

I studied in Canada back in 2010, worked in Africa for many years and I am from Africa. Currently, live in Europe, Portugal I got my residence after 2 years. I came here from Africa with my family. The quality of live is good. You have more free time to be with family, health systemn and education are free. You may pay monthly fee meal for your kids depending on your income with low income you dont pay nothing. What is true is about the economy grogth for you and family. I feel some segregation, racism is visible and very difficult to see black in very high paying job. I know many people who got nacionality but still earn minimum wage. As someone who lived in Canada, Africa and now Europe, yes Canada is way better I don't agree with USA in term of quality of life and security mainly if you plan to immigrate with your family

Have visited many countries for on-site business work, including Canada but India is good despite all the chaos, espcially South India. Over 95% Sikhs are just like me and patriotic and Love India, but yes there are issues in Punjab which need to be addressed...\nBut a large portion of the blame sadly goes to Sikh politicians. I want to tell the youth that Khalistan is a waste of time and politicians in Punjab, especially sikh politicians are completely bullshit. They are corrupt and have no vision and rely on rural votes which is sikh majority and Jazbaati over every issue and largely into farming. The Punjabi Hindus, baniyas, aggarwals and Jains own the urban economy and are comparatively more practical and forward looking in life. I pledged to move back and did in 2004 to become a student. I loved the freedom and vibrancy of the city, met many friends and had a wonderful time. Even as a student, working part time, I was able to afford a shared accommodation downtown and still have a bit of disposable income. \nAfter graduating college, I found full time employment and was able to live comfortably alone in my own 2 bd apartment in mid-town for many years. In 2012, I met my partner and we continued to live in North York in a 3bd rent-controlled unit. We could see the decline in the city over the next several years. We decided we would never be able to achieve what we wanted to by staying where we were so in 2018 we took the plunge and bought a home in Windsor and have never looked back (though Windsor also has many social/affordability issues) .\nIn all, I miss the Toronto I once knew and loved but the decline of the city is pretty shocking.

I'm from Asia and recently moved to Canada with my family to live a slower-paced and safer life. I've seen firsthand that the drug problem here is worse than it was back home, and they're being coddled with no plans to discipline or rehabilitate them. I asked my friends how I could defend myself and my family if a random drug addict broke into our house and stole our belongings; could I at least beat that person up until the police arrived? They said you couldn't because you'd be charged with assault. It's funny. \n\nApart from the crimes and exorbitant living costs despite living in a rural area, even Canadians who have lived in the country since birth are struggling to make ends meet. \n\nSome positive comments, Canada provided me with a work-life balance that was not possible in Asia due to the competitive nature of the corporate world. So I had time to spend with my family, and you don't have to travel abroad to see beautiful scenery. Canadians are also very accommodating and friendly, in contrast to where I came from, where people will not help unless it benefits them as well. The Canadians here are extremely friendly. So Canada is great because of its people, but I can tell you that the government consistently makes bad decisions about how to solve certain problems, such as drugs and harm reduction strategies. Another issue is that they do not recognize internationally trained professionals, which could have helped alleviate healthcare issues in our area, where we have many internationally trained nurses from the Philippines working as restaurant servers and janitors. We have doctors from Kenya who have to work as general laborers and in other odd jobs where they can use their profession and experience to help people. I am also an immigrant, but the government should strategically distribute us based on our qualifications. I chose a rural area because I don't want to add to the number of immigrants in big cities and instead want to contribute to the local economy by bringing my skills and experience to the pool. \n\nCanada is a wonderful country, and I continue to believe so, but the government must reward and do more for its people who are trying their best to make this country great.

schools in America and Canada are DAYCARE. they aren't Schools. also you seriously forgot to mention the rampant BULLYING that goes on., your child WILL be made fun of whether he is white black or any other race. dealing with that is scary frustrating and really hurtful. even priyanka Chopra was bullied as was I many many times by all races except Indian (I am Indian NRI living and working in New York City as a teacher in public and private schools including college courses for 20 years now). your children WILL suffer in the primary and secondary school systems here.
