He wants to exert maximum pain and pressure on the current liberal government in Canada so that its more likely a conservative like Poilievre will get elected. Then, he'll end the tariffs handing him a victory and thus solidifying a conservative influence. Maybe. In any case, he wants more influence over Canada and its unnerving to watch.
