The outlook is not bad. The problem is that the solution will NOT come from the hands of politicians, not even those who today use discontent to win votes. I bet ten years' salary that people like Poilievre will only do, as conservative governments do, cutting budgets immigrants´ aids , BUT HE WILL NOT GIVE UP CONTINUING TO ALLOW AND PROMOTE the indiscriminate arrival of these immigrants. Unfortunately the claim of racism is what immediately shuts down any real discussion of this issue.\n\nThe fact of the matter is housing prices are FAR too high. And while there are certainly main contributors, one cannot simply ignore the area of supply and demand. Too many people looking for too few locations to live. It doesn't get more basic than that.\n\nThe PROBLEM is our economic growth numbers are DEPENDANT on immigration, and if we just cut immigration the numbers will plummet and foreign investment will tank. We'd dug this hole for ourselves by voting in leaders that rely on immigration to prop up what is fundamentally a very weak economy.

Immigration is always a short cut to avoid tackling the right problem. Canada is a country of many opportunities. My observation is that people are not making effort to work harder, too many regulations also limit companies to make great innovation that brings wealth here. Immigrants who come to Canada have an enormous amount of energy to build the country but the system always puts aside and cannot unlock their full potential. Just my observation only.

This is disgusting to listen to. No country on Earth wants millions of immigrants flooding in getting welfare to the moon and being a statistic of crime cause by these immigrants. No one wants that. I have been (mostly) a life long Liberal living in Toronto. I can honestly say, the Trudeau Liberal government has been the worst government at any level I have lived under - including Mike Harris and Bob Rae. Justin Trudeau likes to cut ribbons and make big announcements and spend time on the completely wrong priorities for Canadians. We need a government focused on the economy and the things it takes to build a thriving 21st century economy. Yes, it takes immigrants and those people will need the basics: a job, food, shelter and services. Instead we get dental care, pharm care, daycare - all these things we can't afford and that do very little to build out a thriving economy we need. We have lost decades due to poor planning of our governments and now we all must suffer. It will take generation to fix this, meanwhile our competing countries will all pass us. I will rue Justin Trudeau and his incompetent Ministers and enablers for the rest of my life.

These people are not migrants, they are opportunists. Here in Canada we watch daily on news people escaping from US crossing the border. Canada and America just need to focus on two of main problems...which are greed and a lot of people getting in real estate who are either renting or selling at a severely inflated rate because those people in real estate just want take short cut early retirement. If rich individuals or companies create more jobs that are entry level and offer decent salary then rich individuals or hedge fund companies can buy empty land and buy town homes or a tower like apartment and charge a decent rate.

Lived in Toronto most of my life. The problem has been the Ontario Municipal Board which is the slowest to act legislators in the province. We left the private sector to do its thing not realizing that the OMB took years to approve residential units. Thankfully the red tape has been cut down and housing is being built like crazy. This problem will take at least a decade to be solved. Its not the immigrants fault. I can remember reading about a Nigerian refugee freezing to death in the cold because we couldn't get him housed. That isn't just cruel to him but shines a light on our own ignorance.

I want to ask you guys a question ( I am Canadian born ), but have had a lot of contact with Americans and have spent some time down in the USA. My question is, Do you think Canadians are passive aggressive compared to Americans? Kind of wishy washy?
