I mean the reasons listed are already reason enough, but additional reasons:\n\n- our labour laws tend to be superior to the majority of states (seriously, Wisconsin has no workers rights, maternity leave is barely a thing in most states let alone parental leave)\n-social security net in the event of losing a job (during the start of the pandemic, even though we did have to suddenly change the system, the fact that we already had a safety net to begin with was a huge relief to many)\n- the racism, while still obviously present, is significantly lower (experienced more racism in Edmonton than I do in a tiny town in rural Quebec). This before even beginning to consider how the police forces in the USA would be more likely to target someone like me whether I am guilty or not (have personally had nothing but good experiences with the police anywhere I have lived personally).\n\nThe only things that have ever tempted me in particular have been the lower housing costs, but… that’s clearly only the immediate monetary cost, and for me has never even come close to making up for the other significantly more important things that I would have to deal with / be concerned over.

Curious as to why you immediately bailed on the whole issue of vanishing rights for women in the US? I can't even imagine being a woman of child bearing age or the mother of a daughter who could end up with an unwanted pregnancy. I would be leaving ASAP. It boggles my mind the way the US is rapidly backsliding into the early 1800's when it comes to the rights of anyone other than a white straight middle class or wealthier man. THIS is why we shouldn't let people in Canada who don't share our values. People come from different countries and their values are not to increase productivity, create community or become Canadian. My bf is an immigrant and in his citizenship test he was asked if women were property. Future students, PRs and citizens should not be able to own more than 2 properties. Whoever says this is motivational and aspires to create wealth by causing financial distress to others should leave Canada.

I had a friend whos family split up and all 4 children and their mom ended up down in Philadelphia somewhere (some cult/religious thing she got into that started the whole divorce ect) and they would come back to Canada for visits. When he would explain going to school, having to walk through metal detectors on the way in, guarded by cops with SMG's I just couldn't fathom what he was talking about or why it would be needed. Luckily I managed to convince him to stay one time when he came and visited and still lives here. Personally I'm considering moving with how hostile my government here in Canada has become to anything oil/gas/nuclear/fertilizer. My trade (Steamfitter/Pipefitter) is being reduced to shut down work only and I have some family down in Texas and its pushing me more and more to start looking elsewhere for work. However I'm single, if I had a family there would be no way id leave. As good of healthcare you have down there (way better than most if not all of Canada in relation to wait times and expertise), one long illness or something and they drop your health care? Your screwed. Plain and simple.

No, I wouldn’t. I just moved from Vancouver to London, uk. Lots of people asked why I didn’t move to New York. Main reason is health care. I’m a self employed hairstylist and no one is providing health care for me. Second is gun violence in general, mass shootings are a big issue, just because it hasn’t happened in your small city, doesn’t mean it won’t. Mass shootings are just the most extreme version of gun violence. I don’t want the people walking down the street next to me to possibly be carrying a gun on them. That is truly terrifying to me. Third is that politics are so extreme and so prevalent. Lastly the fact that women’s rights are being taken away. I absolutely cannot support a country with very little benefits and aid for those who cannot afford to have a child, that then makes them have a child. That’s the briefest way I can explain my feelings, I could go on and on, but I’ll leave it at that. \n\nThe only benefit I see in moving to the us from Canada is for certain opportunities, and those come in big cities, so there’s absolutely no point in moving to then live in a small city. \n\nI appreciate that you’re being introspective as you go through the video. Unfortunately gun violence is a massive one for many Canadians, even when they travel to the us. Now that I’m in London, I hear a lot of the same sentiments being mirrored by the Brits. No one wants to lose their health and safety just to move to the us. I didn't like this conversation about the restaurant service, I feel the service is very good. I don't like people (servers) coming several times during our private lunch or dinner. This is a different type of expectation servers to come several times and ask many times. I want to ask them how many tips they are leaving in the restaurant?

It's wonderful to see people so excited and exhilarate to want to be Americans but come the legal way learn the process and assimilate into being an American. My mom and brother are in Canada. I'm trying to move her to Texas with me. I make great money in Real Estate and IT. She doesn't want to leave Toronto, even though she can't afford it. I travel back and forth to drop money for her. All though she doesn't ask me, I know it helps. We're all from Jamaica and unfortunately I was separated from her for 30 years. I'm glad, I'm in a position to take care of her. If I can only convince her to leave Canada for good. My little brother wants to come to America with me.

Please anyone watching this do not take it as fact. Pretty much got all of it wrong. Fishing and Hunting in Nova Scotia and cold? Can live in Vancouver for $50,000/year?? Alberta is way more than Agriculture, oil and gas. Also quite a few more cities than just Calgary. Toronto is getting worse every year. People are leaving the city because it is so expensive to live there. Quebec is getting up there with cost of living along with the taxes. Vancouver Island, yes mild in the winter compared to the rest of Canada but jobs are hard to come by which is why a lot of people retire there.

I live in canada and am starting my final year of high-school in the fall. I have a lot of friends my age, none of us are planning to stay. All of us are going to the States or Europe. We're not leaving because we don't like Canada, we're being forced out because its too expensive to survive. The last two years have been a slow realization that the options for people my age are A) live on the support of your parents for the rest of your foreseeable life, B) become homeless, or C) leave.\n\nIts especially painful because a lot of people here came from immigrant families who worked hard to come here for a better life for their kids, just to have their kids leave for elsewhere or even return to their country of origin.

Canada is never the same in the past fifty years.People just want to come here for the Money so they can leave for the country they belong.They think Canadian are stupid because of their generosity so they take advantage of the government hand out.Leadership in our country is not,we became Followers of the U.S.systems and no accountability for the conditions we are in.Supporting wars and giveaway funds to nations and ignoring our citizens who need help.Everything you need you have to pay taxes and what is our taxes doing nothing.

Its easy to leave when you have a Canadian citzienship to come home to. Insurance policies are powerful and lets us take risk we otherwise wouldnt.

As a Canadian who moved to (self-proclaimed world-class Vancouver) 30+ years ago, when it was a gritty, fun, quirky unusual city, I thought it was paradise in Canada. However, as time marched on, I saw the gradual change, the boring glass towers, the shoebox apartments, the closing of most live rock music venues downtown, the end of Indy races in False Creek, the cancelation of Seafest, the unchallenged foreign ownership of both commercial ond mostly empty condos, leading to a severe housing crisis - gridlock and crumbling infrasture. Furthermore, the cost of living and taxation is crippling. The present Gov't (either sides, 1 of the same) has lost all credibility. The media is garbage. Healthcare is subpar period. So, like yourself, I've also spent several years overseas in cities that are soooooo much more beautiful with amazing climates. I also spent as much time outside Vancouver possible during the last 4 years. I haven't changed much personally but wow(!) the rise in narcissism, anger and divisiveness in Vancouver over that period of time is palpable. You nailed it with 'status chasing and diengenuis' - When you leave, then come back you notice this change much more. For those that were trapped here for the last 4 years, I feel for you. I really do.

The leaders of the Latin American countries should feel so much shame that it is so terrible there that their citizens want to come to America. Do you know how bad it has to be for someone to leave their home forever to go to someplace where half the population hates you because of your skin color?!

Why doesn't cnn report on how most illegals coming in are from China and Iran, and the cartel members that use babies to get easier access into America then they leave them in the desert to die!

I am so sick and tired of seeing this all the time. Look at all of our homeless all the veterans that fought for us to have our freedom that we hold so dear, What about those people ?? Some of them are on the streets and are homeless!! We’re not even barely helping our own people but yet we’re supposed to help all these immigrants that are coming over illegally and forcefully? Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? What did he think was gonna happen? You were already in the US, which comparatively speaking to Central America, is much safer by every metric. Why would you then leave the US to come to Canada? Of course you can’t seek asylum because you’re not a refugee. \n\nDon’t get me wrong, I believe that if people follow the legal procedures for the country they wish to reside in, they should at least have a chance at residency. However, this guy is an economic migrant, and if he wishes to live in Canada then you shouldn’t be filing for asylum, you need to apply for residency. But the fact that he was already undocumented in the US means that he risks deportation if he re-enters. Congrats, you played yourself and you’ve put your family in jeopardy. \n\nAbusing the asylum claims system is going to ruin it for those who actually need help. Get it right or go back home.

Sad to see people leaving their countries, but we can't take everybody in when we have our own Americans are struggling days in and days out. Leaders of every country need to bust their brains and consistently come up with and implement ways to improve the standard of living in their countries so that no one becomes this desperate to leave for another country....its really heartbreaking to watch especially knowing the fact that children are being affected in more than one ways and they are the future....the cycle needs to break

It’s heart breaking that these individuals are this desperate to leave their own country! Our country is going downhill faster than ever. But they still want to come here. Remember when we used to have leverage, and we could do things to get other countries to become better for their own people? I do. Why isn’t our government working on trying to keep Mexicans in their own country by negotiating trade deals, and making sure Mexico is being responsible of a leader of their own country as we are of ours? Oh that’s right because we haven’t been responsible. It’s all going pear-shaped and everybody’s at risk.

Not doing a complete immigration reform is responsible for this. We can protect our country and have proper immigration policies at the same time that are not lengthy for years. Our government has done nothing but empower human trafficking and coyotes. Put people who are desperate in the situation of leaving their homes giving up what they own and putting their children and themselves in the mercy of traffickers. They should have to be able to support themselves when they come here just like we are required to do. Only refugees should be given assistance. That country should have to be declared a refugee situation. It's not hard to fix the problem it has just become a political game.

Anyone who is criticizing these immigrants from wanting to come to America should ask them selves where did your grandparents or great grandparents come from? What situations were they in that they needed to flee from? Nobody wants to leave their home country. They’re desperate to do so because of war and crime. There is enough for everyone to be here. We have enough to help people. This is what the statue of liberty represents: help your hungry, and your poor. Even if we give them temporary refuge.
