A well balanced report, something sadly missing in today's news. \n\nThat said, I do not see how Islam is of benefit to any western country. Wearing the burka or niqab is antithetical to our culture. I believe that in the 1990's, there was a small movement of Canadian women that wanted to go topless. That movement was also rejected by our culture. \n\nThere are at least 49 Muslim majority countries in the world where one can practice Islam if that is what is important to you. Canada should not become the 50 th.

I grew up in BRAMALEA, now incorporated with Brampton. BRAMALEA was an idyllic community made up primarily of Brits, European, and African-Canadians. Then Justin’s Dad (Pierre) opened the floodgates of immigration in the ‘70’s to ensure his re-election while transforming Canada into a Socialist Society (Socialized “Free” Health Care paid for by mammoth taxes on the middle class) while promoting “Multiculturalism” as the new Canadian Utopia. In his later years, while close to death, Pierre declared that “Multiculturalism DOESN’T WORK!” And, guess what? Neither does “Free” Healthcare!” As each culture swelled, they felt as though they didn’t need to assimilate. When I return to Canada/Brampton to visit family, I’m disgusted! The Indian residents (who Now comprise about 90% of BRAMLADESH’s population) do NOT look after their housing/property. The older/original neighborhoods where I grew up (well-cared for homes with manicured lawns, lush green-belts with pathways connecting neighborhoods and parks) now borders on slum-like conditions. It’s sad and downright depressing when I visit. All of my high school friends have fled the dilapidated area, and no wonder! Canada’s lax immigration laws, failed “Multiculturalism” and Socialist welfare system have all destroyed Canadian culture AND their middle class (strangled by immense taxation). I was fortunate to have grown up in the BRAMALEA of old, but I am so blessed to have escaped when I did! ??

Most of these comments are disgusting! He went into Canada to seek asylum because he knew that he wouldn't be granted asylum with Trump in office in the USA. He is doing it the legal way filling out the paperwork to seek asylum. Unless you're Native American, your ancestors were once immigrants! And not all of them came legally either! El Salvador has a lot of political instability, there is a lot of crime and murders constantly happening. He has a good reason to escape that as anyone would. I'm shocked how much none of you have a heart, it's really sad. That's why the world is the way it is today. God help us all!

Just imagine we heard this immigrant's sad story regarding just wanting a better life for his family. Some people will feel some compassion and say screw you Trudeau or Trump, let them all in, they just want to work, they are not criminals, screw laws, we are all immigrants here blah, blah blah. Let's not forget there are thousands and thousands maybe millions that has the same sad story and the same dream. What are people talking about saying half of Canada is french! Canadians are English and there used to be tons of us in Montreal, but 300,000 left in a mass exodus to get the French whip off their backs, they even fill the French text books with lessons given by the French whip instead of the truth about how the French didn't want to fight in the war and the old cemeteries are full of Irish, Scottish and British soldiers like my grandfather and uncle buried in veteran memorial plots with sad little Quebec government markers! Meanwhile, their English speaking grandchildren like myself not only have a back full of lash marks from the French whip but the French speaking immigrants think they can use the French whip to grind us into the ground our ancestors are buried in as well!!!

Leaving the U.S. which is as free as Canada is not a reason to accept individuals based on a refugee status. Most countries are welcoming immigrants. But stop trying to jump the line ahead of others. Canada has always been great neighbors with our American counterparts. I wish it was talked about more, seeing Trudeau's beautiful tweets most people run up to Canada expecting that they will be welcome to open arms, the reality is that 70-80 will be deported. It is sad for every one especially the people that really needs asylum. It is so sad that we live in such an unequal world. growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

I understand his reasons for wanting to leave El Salvador, but the sad and hard truth is, no other country is OBLIGATED to take them in! Canada, and even the USA is a long ways from El Salvador; did they try any closer countries??

This is sad, however this man knew he was breaking the law when he brought himself and his family into the US illegally and then into Canada. I feel extremely sad and sick about the invasion of Muslim, Based on history, I know this invasion is planned they are here to conquer the lands. Canada is going the way of Europe (France, Belgium - even England). Religions are all absurd nonsense, but this one is particularly worrisome, advocating violence, the destruction of infidels and installation of shariah law. More political than mystical, really. So sad to throw away this great country built by our hard working, well meaning ancestors. As a society we are trying really hard to deconstruct the dogmas that have kept us caged over the centuries. So it is sad to see people falling in love with an ancient dogma all over again. Yes, Canada protects people's freedom of religion, but unfortunately the more religious you are, the less democratic and progressive you also tend to be.

Speaking as a white man I have to admit I don't quite understand the need for anyone to organize as a race in Canada. First generation clubs from whatever country, sure, but as a race? Is it the elephant in the room... American slavery?  I can't help but think that most perceived problems blacks have in Canada are due to American issues we see in movies and media.\nWe in Canada bend over backwards to offer opportunity to succeed. Even touching on racism is widely and loudly crushed. I personally, as do most, give any individual the opportunities they deserve but it's up to them to screw it up or not. To me, if any minority can't make it in this society they aren't trying.\nIt's actually worse in my mind to be white male in public forums because our views and opinions are marginalized and shouted down. Youtube and the internet are the few forums where honest feelings and opinions can be spoken. No one with anything to lose would say this in public for fear of attacks from the thought police. Pretty sad we live in a free country that actually doesn't allow free speech from all. I guess some are more free than others.\nKeep telling me I'm unfair and bad, when I'm not and I might actually grow resentment and the very prejudice you're complaining about.

Canada is not as racist as the US, but I have encountered racially hostile fellow citizens, colleagues, police...Sadly when I was young, such encounters often made me angry and reflect that hostility back....It affected every aspect of my performance in the society, a perfect example of self fulfilling prophecy for those who put out their hate and insecurity out into the world...\n\nI think it is very very very important for black parents to dedicate a very specialized home discussion and teachings to immunize their children from this vile.

This was so disappointing to see. I was considering moving to Canada because in the USA racism and racial profiling is so bad in the south. I am so sad to see that blacks aren't really equal anywhere.
