As a Canadian, I looked into becoming an auto mechanic. Its going to take a year of school, tuition and then, in your first year, you'll make entry level wage and have to pay $3000 in tools. You might even need a truck to haul your tools around. They keep saying how they need tradespeople in Ontario, but the licensing/ apprentice process takes so long for people to transition into. Every trade is so complicated to get involved in. There is a situation where there are willing and capable people, but the admin process is too expensive and bars people who are in need of paying groceries, rent and bills. They can't find enough millrights either. Its the same problem.\n\nYou've got a surplus of willing and capable workers and employers seeking talent, but the admin process inhibits the entire process. \n\nIf I could start apprenticing on-the-job today as a mechanic or millright I would. But, I need to support family, so instead I am working readily available joe-jobs. \n\nAll trade positions will continue to be unfilled on job posting boards, while potential candidates will be busy working low pay jobs in warehouses etc. just trying to survive. Ontario is idiotic! Back in 2014 they introduced the Ontario College of Trades which only sought to take admin fees from every conceivable profession. The old bureaucratic established people in Ontario have a way of keeping everyone as peasants and minions. This is also why people are leaving for Alberta (a wise decision).

Rent will keep increasing as there is no competitive market. as many of the people in Canada are already operating carousel tax fraud. In the 1800's a small school house was sufficient, a local convenience store was enough with a mail order catalogue etc.. As population grows you need more. We also now have self check outs etc.. We are cutting down Canadas number one resource trees to make way for more and more roads etc.. Having to spend more to change and widen roads, feed these refugees, support them till they get situated, house them for how long, educate, train them, and then hope they can actually adapt and not hate us etc.. Look around the world and not just in our own back yards i.e. what happened in NY today, look at Britain afraid to put up Merry Christmas not to offend or any Christian monuments. Canada and Australia have so much in common incl. genocidal monarchs as national heads except for the weather i.e., snow vs desert/temperate grassland. As an Aussie, I’ve lived most of my life in Australia — I was making Au$200,000/yr and my partner is an ICU nurse who made around Au$100,000/yr — and by my standards our life was average in real terms although most (ignorant) Aussies would say we had a great life. Your US health plan only cover's certain Doctors. at certain hospitals. Deviate form those hospitals and or doctors, will force you to pay out of pocket. As a person with a medical chronic condition, I say NO!!! Would never move to the US!!!!

Actually, the fact that there are so many agencies that supposedly help homeless people doesn't mean that help can be accessed so easily. In fact, there is an extreme shortage of housing in Canada and all shelters are full, mentally ill and homeless folks can not be placed in regular shelters, the right approach would be rehabilitation centers. My dear friend when talking say what you know; the massive Nurses shortage in Canada makes 80% of LMIA evaluations to be positive. While saying this things don't generalize; be specific about jobs that would generally have a negative LMIA evaluation; talking about applying for 400times; even the nurses highly sorted after in UK, USA and Canada apply for over 400-600jobs before getting an offer; talk about what you know and don't here talking like a professor about a process you are not vast with.

Like you, I know someone happy with their job, location, medical care and opportunities, but they are also very uncomfortable with the political situation - I'll just say it - Republicans. You need only look at Trump and its followers. Guns over lives (including kids), billionaires over poor, religion over others' freedoms (gay/trans/abortion, etc), mass spread of misinformation (Fox news, OAN, etc) and a personal selfishness and anger which was made very clear during COVID times. It makes them feel like they are walking on eggshells, at least compared to Canada where they lived before and people would look out for each other more (even if they didn't know them). They like the weather, job, opportunities, the USD buying power, and their friends, among many other things, but it just feels excessively risky to them dealing with the combinations of these things. I can completely understand why they and others might want to leave the US.

I am a Toronto Native, a nurse that used to work in Critical Care at Sunnybrook, but moved to Dubai as my husband received a job offer. That was more than 10yrs ago. I must say that every time I visit home, things are definitely worse. I notice that ppl are very negative and also rude. It's quite startling. I also see how much the demographics have changed as well. The city is also dirtier and not as pretty. I can say that if I ever returned, I would consider Vancouver, somewhere outside of the city, or on the island, but for now, I can say that I will never return to live in Toronto., We will go someplace else like Mexico where it's close enough for family to visit and it's close to home. Btw, Toronto is NOT the most diverse city in the world, it's Dubai, and UAE as a whole, where 85% of the population is born outside of the country.

You need atleast a million dollars to buy a house...if you go with mortgage lets say you need 700k cash.... adding let say 50 k for emergencies that makes it 750k ...who the hell would come to canada with that money and start fresh? Housing, taxes, insurance, inflation, low paying jobs and freezing temperatures it all adds up.....

I teach ESL so I talk with a lot of newcomers and immigrants as part of my job. The case of one of my students sticks out in my mind. She originally came here from Ukraine because of the war. She wants to get PR status because she wants to settle here and make a life for herself and her family. She was explaining the process to me and she seemed really caught in a Catch 22. She held advanced degrees in mathematics and economics already, but in order to qualify here she would need to go back to school, which would require a different visa than the one she was here on. She was working, but at a low paying job where she was just making ends meet. So she has to decide whether to go back or stay, basically because of bureaucracy and no other reason. She was strongly considering going back home because of how expensive the cost of living is here. And I can't say I blame her. I was born here and if I had the resources, I would move. I would love to move abroad because the standard of living in most European countries is so much better.

I am 10th generation Canadian and plan on leaving one day too just not sure when and where to go. Affordability is not good, no special things for the long term generations that their whole family grew up here, nothing with banks, nothing with education, nothing to advance careers for myself or my children, non allied people getting in. I remember when there was stricter immigration laws. I remember when one man could support a whole family. I remember when citizens would walk on one side of the street and allow others to pass on the opposite side walking from the other direction on the streets as well as in the stores, when people had more courtesy. I remember when people could joke and not get offended, when people would stand up for one another. When a community was a community. When you could be Christian and not considered offensive. When it was safe to say bless you and not be told to shove it etc... when you did not have to witness riots on the streets and a people divided and it was not believers and non believers either as the non believers would still be peaceful in the past. It is much more than that now. Now it is you are white and racist, which I am far from but have been accused and am very baffled at that statement because never in my life would I in the past ever be accused of that. I am now like, wow what am I witnessing? I just feel something much greater is going to come, but not knowing when. ONe thing I fear is there will be an all out war and it will be whites or Christians being the target one day.

The trouble is Canada is not taking itself seriously. The reality is culture matters. When you dump millions of people into a place over a short period of time, there is bound to be turmoil. The housing crisis. The Balkanization of different cultural groups. The watering down of Canada‘s original culture (the culture that made country desirable in the first place). The low salaries versus cost of living. The reality is this has been brewing for a while, and is only coming to a head now. The solutions are there, but you are “racist” if you say anything. A 90% reduction in immigration would be a good start. Then, a reduction in the size of a bloated government. Incentives for people to have families again. People should be having 2 to 3 kids on average again. A return to Jesus couldn’t hurt as the country was built on Judeo-Christian values. Then, the country will grow organically and will have some hope of becoming great again!

As a construction labour and canadian citizen. I can say that not too many people are comming to construction industry. They would rather have cushy jobs which canada dont have anymore. I my self and no inspired to start my own business in same industry i work as labour.

This is cruel to say but The only immigrants staying are those who mooch on the social system. There are so many immigrants who don’t speak English or try to learn. They get their welfare checks and within 2 years they are back in their home country and just travel back to Canada to empty their bank accounts brimming with welfare money. Meanwhile highly trained immigrants can’t get jobs in their fields and can’t find a place to live and are taxed to death. Also the lack of a moral fabric in the society is making it difficult to raise children here, from the government promoting drug use,to kids being brainwashed in schools with all kinds of liberal ideology why would anyone want to put their kids through all that.

I don't get why so many indians think foreign countries can change their lives. You are an average student soo instead of hustling in India by doing fresher jobs, you go to Canada for expensive education from dubious colleges in hopes of getting a job ?\nI say that if you are talented you can make big in foreign countries but if you know you are an average Joe then you are just wasting money and time in Canada. Which school did your kids study in? I have been in india, canada, uk and i would say that indiaj educational system is based only in the theory part and does not prepare kids 100% unless the kids are genius.

I was born in NYC but moved to Canada over 20 years ago, I now have dual citizenship. In the space of 1 year my retired father had a major stroke and my wife, pregnant with our first child had a full hemorrhage, was rushed to the hospital and gave birth to our premature son who required open heart surgery at 3 months of age. The quality of the health care was top notch, it didn't matter who I was or what I earned, we promptly received the best health care I can imagine. I was maxed out emotionally; I can't imagine worrying if I could afford the monies involved, was it covered under my current health care plan everything was 'just there'. There was no waiting for our legitimate emergencies. I don't know what the math would be on costs but I'm guessing I'd be broke for the rest of my life if this occurred in the States. \nOf course, what countries could afford universal health care except, maybe: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland. Italy, Israel, Greece and 22 other countries. Why is almost every other country paying less for drugs developed by American companies?\nYou pay slightly lower taxes... but what would your income look like if your employer paid you what they are paying for your insurance premiums?\nI'd say the richest country on earth has a little catching up to do...

Vsf services in the uk. I watched for 4 hours as security at the front desk wemt through ever entrants application and told them the picture format they had was wrong. They made everyone retake pictures in a booth for £10 each which they had the keys for (I seen them open it as money got stuck). Only when you go to the desks when your number is called all those people were told their pictures were incorrect an the guy would take them with a camera they had. The original pictures many had come inti the building with were actually the correct formart but they were not accepting them. They were also making people do unnecessary photocopies from the machine in the place, and go on the internet at at ridicules charge unnecessarly. They would also make out there is a mistake on peoples form and then say they would refil it themselves for £10 cash. All these methods were illegal ways of getting money out of people. Dont believe go there and sit for 3 hour and see yourself.

Well I had a kid this year in Québec, it was like 250$ for a single room or 20$ for double room or something. \nYeah some hospital would sell our informations to banks and diapers or food manufacturers... still cheaper than 3000$USD\nFor student I'd say if you are citizen of canada, it's like 10 time cheaper to study here than in US as far as I've seen.\nViolence is something really sad.
