Hey folks remember this tactic was used along with mass invasion and immigration itself by the European hordes who not only used biological warfare, uneven warfare and constant invasion of more and more numbers just so they could squat and steal the homelands of the indigenous ethnic American people, The peasants were non-Land owners in Englamd where they couldn't own any land because they were peasants, not nobles or the gentry. The best way to do this as an immigrant is basically live like a pauper and use that exchange rate to invest at home. Don't live a comfortable life in the West. That's how people are making it work, because the work culture is toxic over there and strenuous. If you don't have a high flying job, you have to work 2 to 3 jobs and rack up overtime when they allow it to make good money to invest over there and at home.

I was born and raised in Toronto to Hungarian immigrants, and my whole neighborhood was of mixed immigrants, so I grew up early making friends of different races and nationalities. I don't dispute though that it does exist, I have seen it and heard it. I too have been the victim of racism, yes that's right, but because I am white and blonde, I get remarks mostly from men of different races, anywhere I go on the bus and in stores, there are men of some races who just stare at me with a look that makes me very uncomfortable, and I hear sexual remarks. The other thing that bothers me is that white people are often being blamed, but yet there are different races that hate each other, this I know because I have friends of different nationalities who hate others not like them. Some nationalities even think that I have never had spices in my food, and that I dont know how to paint a wall or use tools, there is so much I can say about this. I guess everybody should sit down and talk to each other, learn about each other.

Seriously are they coming to study or finding a loophole to gain immigration. Crying doesn't help all International students know before hand what they are ending up in, its a rat hole. 90% of the students do not even have money to support themselves then why do you come here. They enroll in colleges but are seen working either under the table cash jobs and sending money back home. We Canadian's have had enough of these sad stories. Please don't come to study. It would be a problem for the US but Canada is the richest country on earth that is the worst run. I used to dream of moving there but no thanks, owning a home is impossible, too many immigrants, shit wages compared to the US. And many more things.

Hello brothers and sisters I’m seeing a problem here. The interest rate in the late 1970s and early 1980s interest rate was 12-18%. People\nComing now are in MUCH better financial condition then people who came then with nothing. The difference is two main things: many new immigrants don’t have the same drive and motivation that previous immigrants in terms of sacrifices such as not driving a mustang, but they also didn’t just settle for labour jobs, they used their brains and began business along side labour. Second thing is, the immigrant wants to see the result before putting in the work. If after getting out of the horrible conditions of India and coming to Canada, a country loaded with opportunities, you still have difficulties then you need to change your expectations and work ethic to match, if they don’t then don’t complain. Cost of living is not the issue, it is the false expectation that they give themselves. To be quite honest with you it takes most immigrants one generation not 5-10 years, so either start working smarter or wait to have this reflection of what Canada is like until you have lived here for 50 years.

You know I used to have a lax attitude about immigration. Like if they want to come let them. That is until my small family and I were made homeless in April of this year. I am disabled bug earn an income in addition to disability benefits I earned by being educated and having two degrees. I couldn’t find any resources or housing. I found lots and lots and lots of resources for undocumented people even grocery assistance, rental assistance and whole orgs finding them housing. Even with kidney failure and dialysis we couldn’t find help. We had to be referred to Adult Protective Services to get any help. It took 6 months. We live in a sad place because American families can’t find affordable housing.

As a Canadian the American system isn't broken. We have so many immigrants coming in from India and Nigeria you can have them. Not only are they disrespectful, but greedy and have no problem throwing trash directly on the ground. They also contribute to wage suppression meaning that they are willing to work for a lower rate of pay. Many Canadian companies will not hire these people given that they don't have North American experience, so therfore will be forced to use food banks and the welfare system.

Very nice conversation. Canada has opportunities for those who are capable to grab it. I was in real estate developments for 6 years during 2011-2018 started with $80k down payment. Until I build my 4000sqft home in Bluffs area in Toronto built few houses. It was a stressful time for many incidents. Dealing with City, contractors, finances is very delicate. All it needed patience and hard working to overcome the every challenges. When I ended up the trade after building my house during the pandamic using all the gains around $1.6m from the houses that I have built and sold. I realized I made $4m which is worth my mortgage free house. So, it is a journey from $80k to $4m in 8 years.. I witnessed many immigrants from South Asia got involved in the real estate construction and many has made few million dollars..\n\nTherefore, I would say to the new generation. Do not give up your hope but make sure you work hard and look for opportunities though it has become hard during these days..

H-1B visas are used by corporations to undercut American wages. Why hire an American with the same qualifications when you can use the visa to hire an immigrant for cheaper? Businesses don't have a shortage of skilled workers, they just don't want to pay a fair wage and would rather pay an immigrant less and get away with it because the immigrants are desperate. Universities accross the country are filled with American born students but why do we have or need the H-1B visa?

The arbitrary aspect of the immigration system is the most depressing aspect of living here in the US. I guess when the system was implemented it may have had some use (such as being impartial to everyone by employing a lottery system) but these systems are pretty outdated at this point and only a leverage for political parties to throw gang signs at each other talking about how bad immigration is. I also don’t think anyone wants to solve immigration problems really, I mean even some of the nicest local people I know throw their hands up like “I don’t know” and I think it’s because immigration suffers from the same thing that many other problems suffer from and that is a lack of focus. Illegal immigration takes up so much time and space that fixing legal immigration seems like a daunting challenge and not at all worth trying. If I were a betting person I would never hedge my bets on immigration, I just need to have the time to digest and understand a lot of knowledge about how immigration helps me and my country. It’s honestly up to the Government imo to give it the proper fix it deserves but, again, why bother if it doesn’t help?

Not entirely accurate. It's pro-wealthy immigration here in Canada absolutely. It's citizenship for sale. Not necessarily wealthy in terms of really wealthy (like Switzerland) but it's definitely citizenship for sale, so if you don't have money, don't bother. Newcomers with medical and engineering expertise can't get jobs here in Canada, in spite of our healthcare system being on the point of collapse and our supposed hi-tech push. Regulatory boards here have made it impossible. Estimates are around 175000 qualified, internationally trained doctors and nurses who gave up trying to practice here and moved into other careers. Ukrainian doctors, for eg, with extensive trauma experience and willing to staff our emergency departments have been told they have to requalify by going to Canadian medical school to retrain for at least 4 years. Same story in engineering. By IT, our government seems to mean low-paid call center IT work, moving the IT sweatshop racket from India onto Canadian soil. If you can afford to buy a business - I believe the total business investment was 500 000 pre-pandemic - that's another way in. Not sure if thats gone up now. So many of our franchise businesses are essentially being used as citizenship tickets. The big ticket item: If you can afford 4 years of postgraduate or undergrad university program, or 3 to 4 year college program - and if you don't have the cash, loan sharks in India will distribute debt across the whole family for decades so one student can go . There us a very good documentary by an Indian filmmaker on the Canadian college/University recruitment drive in India and its consequences. Several of our colleges have student enrollments at over 70% of the entire student body, direct entry from India. Additional problems like grade inflation, different education standards, and outright fraud on ESL testing also mean that Indian students are not well prepared for school here. Many do not have enough English to succeed in their studies. They either need to spend for additional tutoring, take a qualifying year or two ESL (on top of the 3 or 4 program), or fail courses. Universities and colleges keep the tuition though. Honestly our colleges and universities are staying afloat because of Indian students. They're being treated like cash cows - and Indian recruiters are scamming the system, taking fees on their end with unsuspecting students getting falsified documents, or being told they passed their ESL when they didn't. It's a national disgrace. I'm a prof here, I've seen all of this firsthand. Your data may be correct, but the narrative you've constructed for it is not the real picture.

Actually US is doing a better job of ensuring diversity in its immigrants by having the country cap. I used to think it is so unfair when i was in the US but after seeing how the Indian and Chinese immigrants form the majority of the population increase of Canada, I have changed my mind. We cannot have one culture completely dominating thr demographics of a region and effectively killing the international diversity there.

Canada’s secret weapon will backfire. Our healthcare and infrastructure are not ready for record high immigration. Housing is beyond hopeless, with insane prices and record low construction in the pipeline. Only the wealthy immigrants will settle here fine. Most will struggle to pay rent and expensive tuitions for the chance to land a good paying job. Canada has very few companies that are world class or highly competitive on the international level. The summary touched on but didn't expand on one aspect: many use Canada as a back door entry into the US.\n\nSpeaking as a professional level Canadian living in the US, the Canadian brain drain is very much real. The cost of living discrepancy and wage limitations make the US a constant appeal for Canadian professionals.\n\nBecomes more realistic to immigrate to Canada, get a good education, residency/citizenship, work for a couple of years to gain experience... and then start job hunting in the US.\nMight take a few years but likely shorter and better odds than a lottery.

Using McGill University is a poor choice. Quebec has its own immigration system and does not susbcribe to federal Express Entry.

About 25 years ago I would have been happy to move to the U.S. It looked my current job was about to end, and I had a skill set that matched what a lot of employers in the U.S. were looking for. Unfortunately U.S. immigration laws made that extremely difficult. Now I'm retired, and I would still like to move to the U.S., except for the fact that I would have no health insurance down there, and health care costs in the U.S. are the highest in the world. It's true that you do need a gun down there though, and you'd better be trained in how to use it.

I am from Brazil, moved to Canada 9 years ago, now I am Canadian citizen. I was once asked by a American colleague why did I not immigrated to the USA, the answer is: it was not even in the list of possible countries. In fact it is on my top list of places not to move to. \n\nYou have a good insurance through your job? That only means you have one more reason to fear losing it or stay on a particularly bad one if you don’t have anything lined up, if you have a chronic health condition, then you are straight out hostage to your employer. Even if you do have good insurance your bills may one day go beyond the maximum and you still risk bankruptcy. \n\nIf you do go bankrupt, in any civilized country you can’t go to jail for debt, in the USA you can, the country with the highest incarcerated population in the world in absolute numbers and relative too. To add salt to the injury it is a country that did not completely make slave work illegal, it is still legal if you are not a free citizen and your prison system exploit that.\n\nSo it is a country that you can become slave because you got sick.\n\nThen there are the guns… the fact you think you are exempt of school shootings says it all, if you live in a small city it would not affect you? Are you really saying mass shootings never occur in small cities?! They need to call in the National Guard and use brute force to keep them back if they have to. I honestly don’t understand how people think it’s ok to do this. Go the legal route. Yes it’s expensive and may take time but then you will have made it here legally. We can’t be expected to keep allowing illegal immigrants in. We can’t afford it. They are a drain on our economy.

It's this kind of media manipulation that creates an inaccurate impression.\nNow, for the indigenous, yes, there is systemic racism. We have an entire governmental system treating natives differently with reserves, different taxes, hunting rights etc by definition it's systemically racist although many are a benefit.\nI also agree with your comment on Quebec with it's strong almost nationalist attitudes towards maintaining it's French heritage at the expense of individual rights.\n, please don't label someone or an organization as racist just because a bunch of white people occupy top positions without evidence that racism was the cause when it could just be they were the best candidates.
