Wow.. it is sad to depart a place where you've grown up in and call home. VERY SCARY but exciting at the same time. Our family had to leave and reset our lives over 2 generations due to communism and really didn't have a choice. Glad you have the COURAGE/fortitude to commit to move and for the opportunity of choice. I understand how daunting it can be but you have made the hardest decision now. My heart extends to you and wish you the safest journey in spirit, travels and resettlement. \nI am in Australia and grateful for all the opportunities it has provided us but it has become very expensive but not as bad as the US. Its safe and still have a lot of the values we've come to appreciate. Come visit if you haven't been here.\n All the very best. ❤

I have a similar background as I immigrated to Canada when I was 6 years old. I haven't travelled across 50 countries like Alina but I'm well travelled and Canada is still, in my opinion, the best country in the world. Besides the strong passport and political stability Alina mentioned, Canadians also benefit from the great healthcare system, environmental protections, capital markets, educational system, labour standards, etc. This country has afforded me a wonderful career that allowed me to build wealth while giving me substantial financial flexibility and freedoms. Canada is not perfect but I'm so grateful to my parents for moving us here.

The best way to live here. Work here, plan wonderful holidays outside. Make friends all over the world. You won’t feel any negativity ?

I lived in Toronto and moved to the Isle of Man. Best thing I ever did. 10% tax, low crime, no unemployment, no traffic.

After reading a few of these comments, the main take aways are, there are a lot of immigrants, things cost more, healthcare is a mess and inflation.\nI am sorry that things are hard, the costs of everything are up everywhere in the world so good luck in gentrifying other nations and making your problems their problems.\nIt pains me to no ends that after things get tough in Canada many are ready to jump ship for better softer areas where they will trash the place with their incomes creating inequality there as well and then blaming the mess that they will create on the indigenous people that they will abandon for better pastures.\n\nAs a Canadian of native ancestry I never had it anywhere as good as many of the people here complaining about their middle class woes.\n\nMaybe if you fought for a change, like more housing to bring down the prices and fought corporate greedflation and gouging, realizing that much of this problem, the attack on the healthcare services, much of it being done by the conservative governments, then perhaps you would not be so annoyed with Trudeau.\n\nHe is not helping the housing problem by not building the 2 million new homes that he said he would but NIMBY people are making this difficult. They want the charm of a nice middle class feel to their neighborhoods but when it comes to housing, they don't want to build affordable near them and then they complain with their rents are too expensive or the costs of things too high. \n\nI can't say I feel much pity or empathy with most of the people complaining about their lots in life because as far as I can tell, many natives would love to have your problems but the best that many of them can do is to live in their own lands, homeless, even on their own reserves because there is just not enough housing. Yet when the prices of housing was going up, many homeowners loved it, even though it meant that the poor, the actual poor and not you lot, were stacked like firewood into smaller and smaller rooms with no AC so it was hot in the summer and freezing in the winter and the slum lords are having a hey day. \nThe actual first nations people are homeless and being killed daily and are arrested for being poor daily but you lot think you have it bad. \n\nSorry, when non first nations people say that they will leave Canada because its not how they remember it when they were kids and its worse now so they will jump ship to gentrify other nations, I just shake my head and hold open the door as you leave the nation and wonder at your arrogance and egoism.

I am a small town Saskatchewan boy that married a Philippine lady and have 2 kids. In 2023 we decided to sell both are houses and moved to the Philippines with are kids still in elementary school and best decision we have ever made. Canada is not the same country i grew up in the 80s

I completely agree with you. Canadian immigration policy should carefully consider the quality of individuals entering the country. As an Indian, I’ve personally encountered several instances of rude behavior from people who don’t represent the best of our community, including one just yesterday while I was walking with my mom on the street. I wish the situation will improve.

We would like to have you as a neighbor here in Mexico Alina, I'm not going to lie to you, we have some states in which, like even in Canada, insecurity is present, but considering how professional and analytical you are, I think you could choose some strategic place here in Mexico so you can continue with your profession. As bad as it is i think it’s best to tough it out and things will improve, many euro countries may seem better but they too could be come gentrified with time and im sure those places sucked at one time which is why Europeans moved to Canada for the last a hundred years. \n\nIK Canada looks bleak but much of the world sucks and things will improve, haven’t seen the video yet but as far as IK, moving to a warm third world country is never the solution because locals will experience price inflation and all the things we complain about and the problems just won’t stop.

Canada has enriched the US with their best MD's and RN's well trained and affable. The reason is obvious, the US is a much better place to earn a very respectable salary and life.

Wow, so very much of what you said is exactly the same for me. I also have been researching and for years about other countries and the possibilities to live in another country. I have lived in several-working, studying and travelling and have recently chosen what I hope is my long-term country. I will share that I have learned not to say permanently because things can change and quickly-Thailand and income tax, Turkiye and cost of living, Cambodia and corruption and crime, etc. All the best to you and I am looking forward to hearing all your thoughts and decisions. I did plenty of studies back in 2017 because I got a job offer in Canada. I paid the money to the immigration lawyer. As a qualified artisan, a qualified artisan with a red seal certificate which Canada introduced in my country, they told me that I need to pay and get my qualifications redone and tested again. That is where I stopped. This is a.money making scheme. Bullshit in red letters. I stopped the process and I am not sorry I did it. Today I am working in Saudi Arabia and it was the best move I could have done.

Left Canada for Asia 7 years ago and it was the best decision ever.. I'm never moving back. Canada and the US are in a decline... I think it won't be anytime soon that they recover.

Im a surgeon. I came to canada as a refugee child I wouldnt be a surgeon today had it not been for welfare, social supports, affordable apartments for our family, free and excellent public schools, loans/scholarship/ bursaries and access to the best universities for education, and then loans again for medical school/residency. I pay about between 300-500K in taxes a year. I am paying back a lot more than my family received in direct social services, but its worth it for the life that this beautiful country provided my family and I. I hope the taxes I pay will benefit current and future Canadians. Our system is not perfect. if it was good enough to help raise my ESL refugee rear up to where I am today, the social support blanket is better than most places. GL on your move. I wont be moving anywhere any time soon.

Why must the enforcement of human rights vest with the EU? Where is Africa? Where are the Arab States , the US , Russia and China? These refugees & Asylum seekers deserve the best, but the burden can’t vest with the EU countries alone. And what about the horrible governments of origin - why are they not held to account?

Such a lovely and genuine woman you are. I, too, left my home country, as my parents left Lithuania, to build a new life in America. While it saddens me to be away from my roots, I've found a better life here in Phuket, Thailand.
