Fleeing the states because of Trump means thier in that country illegally, its amazing how they think they can come to Canada your not our problem we don't want you don't need you or are you our responsibility so go back to your own country as a Canadian First Nation's that's how I feel

The reality is that many skilled newcomers were underemployed and probably unable to thrive financially due to low incomes and the high cost of living. With the little they have it’s difficult to remain in Canada. Some will return to their home country and others will go elsewhere that is more affordable

If we, as Americans, were to move to another country, like Sweden, we would be required to go through the process of becoming legal citizens. Every country in the world enforces its borders, so why is it considered wrong when we do the same?

It's refreshing to get the TLDR take on this kind of subject. Most of my news come from the BBC or Guardian and anything immigration related is a hot topic. So you are never going to get a balanced, unbiased presentation, just hysteria about the far right or whatever. \n\nAs noted here, I suspect this 'mass deportation' rhetoric will be just that. Never mind China and Haiti, I think the biggest Latino group currently is from Venezuela. Trump might be a maniac, but that poor benighted country's dictator is off the scale. It's a problem and the only way to not see it as one is to remove your head.\n\nI'm down to seeing whatever measures needed to get rid of all if not most illegal aliens. Most people entering the US illegally have not even been from Central or South America (if they are from Mexico they don't even get let in). I also want to see Trump go after people who helped these illegals get here–not just cartels.

The administration won’t deport every illegal immigrant, it won’t even come close. They’ll go after criminals and it will ramp up border security to slow the influx of new immigrants and allow the country to absorb the current immigrants

Let's be real ALMOST, none of what he plans to do is going to be legal, OR cost effective. But people wanted cheaper eggs. So when they wind up footing, the bill or laws get changed by the SCOTUS/Congress, and this country backslides don't complain.

Bit of a side note, but Latin American birth rates have dipped so low in recent years (Mexico's is now lower than that of the US), that long-term migration from Latin America will probably decrease, because young adults are the prime migrators. This is especially true given Venezuela and El Salvador will probably shrink as source countries (Venezuela because it literally had so much emigration already, that everyone who would leave, has left, El Salvador because of the recent improvements in its security situation). I'd also expect to see some Latin Americans head for Guyana instead given its oil boom. \n\nFor context, it's not actually out of the realm of current UN projections that Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole will go from having about 2x the population of the US at the moment, to it being about 1:1 by the end of the century. \n\nThat said, this could also all be counter-acted by the economic hardship aging populations in the region would bring.

I am definitely ok on cracking down illegal immigration and there should be criminal charges for employers that employ these migrant workers with slave wages. However with that being said to deport almost 20 million people that make up more than 50% agricultural workers in the country is a logistical nightmare. Once these migrants go these jobs will need to be filled presumably by Americans that command higher wages. I mean if Trump said he wanted to bring cost of groceries down this might not turn into a good plan.

So countries let people come into our country without our permission. And when we say go back where you were born the country can say no? Guess you wont be grtting finacial aid from the US anymore. Take all aid from all countries till every illegal is gone.

I don’t understand why these individuals spend thousands of dollars paying governments in Central America and Mexico to enter the U.S. illegally when they could use that money to settle in other developed countries. On top of that, they spread their conservative and gay views wherever they go.

I'm also an immigrant, been in Canada for 16 years, came here initially for uni. It's funny that I have no negative feelings towards immigrants from any other countries but India. And I didn't have any negative feeling toward them before I came to Canada, if anything, I only remember something positive my grandma telling me about Indian people being beautiful, that they have big beautiful eyes. After I came to Canada, over the years, based on countless personal experiences dealing with them, sadly my conclusion is 99% of them are bad, 1% are the exception. They are aggressive, rude, stinky, unhygienic, dishonest, always trying to take financial advantage of people or situations to save a few more bucks by being super annoying or cheating, extremely disrespectful and aggressive towards women!! Really nothing is appealing about them. And at a job position, 1 Indian will bring 10 Indians, 10 will bring 100, they are slowly encroaching the environment and taking over everything. Other races try to assimilate into the local culture, while the Indians are imposing theirs onto the local and other cultures. Canada feels like it's turning into a second India. It's lost its politeness, manner, rules etc. I no longer want to live here, I plan to move back to my country after a few years. And I don't really go to Tim Hortons anymore cuz the Indians are taking over all the franchises and lowered the standards of Hygiene and friendliness. I don't think I'm being racist, cuz I'm not having all these negative feelings based on their skin colour or origin. It's purely based on real life experiences in dealing with them.

I feel for you guys. Most Western nations are experiencing this. The politicians are letting in people as if people are going to be sold out and no longer be available. Canadians should not be surprised if Americans under President Trump decide to force Canadians to get visas for future travels. \n\nCanadian generous refugee policy has allowed millions of criminals/terrorists into the country and most of them once they obtain the Canadian passport aim to move to US and Americans are aware of this scam. Canada also has many who would like to harm North America due to their affiliation with terror organizations. It’s not going to be easy for Canadians who plan to visit US.

And another thing she don't realize is. They don't just come to your house and say okay. You guys get together and get your stuff. We're gonna put you in a bus and take you back to the border. No, they violently arrest you like your criminal. And throw you in jail for months sometimes years at a time waiting to be deported. And if you think you'll all be deported at once, you got another thing coming. The man might go and jump. The woman might go in July. The kids might go separately next year. If you don't believe me. I saw it with my own eyes in 2019. I was locked up in Colorado. I watched them raid construction sites hospitals. Numerous other businesses arresting hard work in Mexican people. Imagine all the nurses and workers at hospitals that are from other countries. I watched them arresting nurses. Arresting tab drivers Uber drivers. I watched them raid schools and arrest children. I watched them put these poor people in jails with real criminals. All the immigrants loved me. I was actually in a federal and ICE facility. So I literally saw all of the immigrants. I protected them from the racist white people. I'm from Tampa Florida, so I'm used to the jails and prisons being majority, black guys. But in Colorado, it's white supremace, gangs and Mexican gangs. What's even more sickening? Is people from Washington would come in and take some of the Indians out. And when they came back, I would ask them questions and they said that the government people would get information on their family back in India and see if they could pay 50k to stay in America. It was sickening. I found out that what they were doing was deporting. Poor people and the people that have money back in their country. They have their families send money and let them stay. I saw it with my own eyes.

Apply and come right go home and fight for your country.. we did

Canadian expat living in Asia. Just returned from a visit to Canada. While spending time with family and catching up with them was awesome, I couldn’t wait to be back in Asia. I’m enjoying a lifestyle here in a tropical beach that would be unreachable in Canada. Eating out all my meals, going out, attending cool events, flying frequently to nearby countries for a weekend or week or weeks at a time. Eating clean healthy food, meeting inspiring and friendly people. Typing this from the beach on a Sunday morning while enjoying my big freshly squeezed carrot juice cup that I paid 60 cents for! \n\nCanada only for visiting once a year. \n\nSave money, work remotely or better yet, learn a high income skill and live anywhere while making money online is the new FREEDOM PLAN. Get on it while you can!

Greetings.from Italy. I don't mean to offend anyone, I just want you to know it's going on here as well. I like to go for walks and I must say that I get upset because both Indians and Pakistanis think nothing of pooping and urinating on the sidewalks. So one likes to walk on the sidewalks to avoid the traffic but it becomes impossible and irritating when the mounds of poop and the stink prevent you from doing so. This behaviour besides being disgusting is disgracing their countries of origin. I have also wondered how they clean themselves after pooping as there are no water taps on the sidewalks. Well let's hope that they come to their senses.

We are not satisfied with the hk pathway policy, why can they enjoy the same benefits as our locals ? \nIn the past, people who applied to become a PR had to wait at least two or three years. During this period, they had to pay international student fees and then transfer to a work permit step by step, or join the investing immigration program, and then start to enjoy the benefits after becoming a PR. However, as soon as the hk pathyway people landed, they enjoyed the same benefits immediately as the locals(liked free education, local student fee for university, Child care benefits) which the locals felt were unfair. The days they (hk pathway people)contributed in Canada are very short, and the benefits they receive are far greater than the taxes and contributions they pay. The locals just feel that the benefits they enjoy today are indeed the contributions they have made to society (including paying taxes) over the years. It is reasonable to get a reward for how much they have paid and contributed, but it is unfair for those Hk pathway people to enjoy the same benefits as locals. \n\nThe hk pathway temporarily policy need to be amended. They shouldn’t receiving full benefits as locals while waiting for PR, they should pay the international student fees. Also, too many hk people abuse this policy, use fake academic qualifications to study, and then their whole family receives CCB , also enjoy local students is unfair to our locals. By the way, most of them after getting the PR they will go back to Hong Kong,they have no intention of staying here and make contributions to our country.\n\nThe HK pathway is a temporary policy. The immigration policy can be revised at any time just liked study permit has mandatory amendments and additional condition recently . The Hk pathway can also be amended.

What people don't understand is that you can't just start a process in any country unless you have and meet the grounds for starting a process. Each process has its own regulations. Example: For asylum to take place, you have to prove you have a well founded fear of persecution from your home country due to your race, religion, or political opinion. Most of the illegals claiming asylum base on economic hardship, or violence from local gangs, will not win an asylum case. Wanting a better life for your family is not considered valid grounds. The same with legal status: You have to first become a resident which means you have to be petitioned by an immediate family member ( A Parent or sibling with a legal status in the US). Depending who petitioned you, it can be a very lengthy process, up to 26 yrs if your sibling submitted the application! Process is much faster for spouses and kids of US Citizens. Only after several years as a legal resident can you apply for Citizenship. Spouses married to US Citizens is 3 yrs, IF you know english. If you don't you might have to wait till you are 65, when you qualify for the test to be in your native language, but only if you have been a resident more than 20 yrs and so forth. As you can see doing it legally, is a lengthy process, but all these caravans think they can just march in and let the countries accept them without going thru the process and it has caused major problems all the way around. That's why the laws must be enforced to eliminate these invasions!

Proud dual citizen Canadian here. Love the country, people and culture. However, the Liberal politics of the last 9 years have been a disaster, from high inflation, uncontrolled immigration, lack of pro business investments, homelessness, housing… this is to list just a few issues. The same thing has been happening in the US and Western Europe. Thank you God for helping elect Donald Trump. Many on this forum may not like the guy, but he was before, and will be good for the country, economy, overall people of the US and indirectly Canada. Are we talking about a mass deportation of people who came into this country illegally? The funding and the resources are the problems. Trump is not going to be able to deport as many as he proposes. If some of them have been here and started an American-born family, then they should get special consideration, but if it's decided they get deported it's really not the fault of the government, it solely rests on the shoulders of those who come in our country and break our laws. If the idea is to become an American Citizen breaking the law is not the first thing to do to swear allegiance. It's confusing. My hope is that we get this issue behind us with fairness and compassion, without sending the message that you can just come here without due process.

Something trump supporters and everyone needs to understand is that there is NO application to just apply and come here legally! That’s why her family has been here for 20 something years. Only people that can “apply” are asylum seekers. Anyone from any other country there is no such application. There would only be an “application” is there was an immigration reform that would allow people that want to come or have been here to apply. There has not been immigration reform/amnesty in decades. \n\nI urge everyone to YouTube or go on the uscis website and find this so called application. The only way is either 1. You were born somewhere else and your parents are citizens 2. Enlist in US military 4. Marriage with a us citizen. So it’s not as easy as just applying, if it was there wouldn’t be so much illegal immigration. \n\nNo excusing or saying it’s okay to come illegally, just saying the reason people do it that way is because there hasn’t been and there currently is no process to do it legally.

So people are literally saying that if you are a nationalized citizen, but you obtain that status legally or if you are a legal permanent resident that you are still going to be deported because you weren’t born in this country.
