Now that Justin Trudeau is taking over from Prime Minister Harper, expect a lot of kiss-ass, pro-Muslim legislation, like disaster-headed Sweden, Inshah'Allah, where it is now illegal for politicians to criticise Islam.

I don't care if you wear hijab but covering face all the time and refusing to take pictures for lisence and passport is not okay. also when the whole world has problem with your religion maybe there must actually be problem you have to fix and not act like you are the victims. we have right to be careful and no its not fair to you but this is what people who follow Islam faith and harm others get you. Islamic people out cry for their right but have to problem taking others away. for example wanting daycares to ban pork just because they can have porn. you should not get special treatment for you religion. I am Hindu/Buddhist and I do not ask people to stop eating beef or many other restrictions that apply to me. the pride of your religion is what's keeping you guys from sensible thinking. and no not all Muslims are the same but the percentage of people that share hatred for other religions is too great too ignore. if you want people to accept you then try becoming a part of the culture and not try to change it for your liking. show love to other faiths and athiests. stop trying to make exceptions for your religion.

The best way to solve this problem is through education. Education is like a lighthouse that burns through the fog of religious rhetoric. As muslim people (and people of any religion, for that matter) become better educated, the grip of religion weakens and eventually disappears. It may take a few generations. I'm optimistic that Canada can beat this problem without violence.

I don't mean to be rude but how is burqa a choice? Why would anyone want to dress up in a black robe covering from head to toe, except eyes and sometimes eyes too? I know it's religious thing but how can one make it a personal choice to wear it? That too women? It's ok for men, they only have so many colours in their attire to choose, but women? Seriously? I think burqa should be for Muslim men who are ok with wearing the same colour everyday (in general). I like hijab, the head scarf, it comes in so many colours and it's so pretty, hijab makes you beautiful. Not burqa or niqab.

When muslim woman says they are attacked, by non-muslims it's most likely not true. They do the same in europe, when they get bad publicity, to revert back at the community, they leech on. It's a known tactic, to victimes themselves. The funny thing there is hard NEVER any cameras's to prove their claim, so yeah, most of the time it's just muslim propaganda.

for security and safety they should make it mandatory so that every person can be identified. suppose someone wearing a mask or someone who covers there identity wants to do some evil like stab or robbery or steal etc... now they can go in a store and take what they want or stab anyone etc.... its best to implement laws that provides security for people. also its not required for muslims to wear such cloths so why dont just try to obey for purpose of security and safety. i am a hindu and i love canada. why, its because we have an allstar groups of people that try to live in peace. we should keep this way of thought. also making some comprimises like this will go a long way for muslims with other communities as well. they should try to look at the fact that canada is not an islamic country.

These Muslims left Islamic Pakistan because they hated to live under Sharia, and migrated to non Islamic Canada for better life. The thing is you hear things about ISIS or hamas and you try to separate it and say that it only the extremists, when in fact the moderates still support it. when speaking to a muslim friends of mine i asked her if your book says killing is wrong then why is there so much of it in islam? to my dismay she said that as long as they're killing for her religion its ok and that she supports things like the charlie hebdo shootings. She claims to support freedom of speech, but in reality, only things that are not opposed to islam. tried telling her if you ant talk about something freely then it isn't freedom of speech but she couldnt comprehend that. its disappointing to see that even though they are not the ones directly in the terrorist groups, they still support what they do.

Tolerance is not a one way street. Canadians (and other westerners) should wake up and realize that, and also form a basic understanding about the evils of islam, that muslims stand for.\nMany douchebags and pseudo-liberals of the Ben Affleck kind, will go to great lengths to defend islam and muslims while knowing absolutely nothing about that religion or its followers, with the only purpose being to selfishly display how PC they are. A true liberal person will value their acquired freedoms and privileges, and not be tolerant of the intolerant. Furthermore, real leaders should not be afraid to bring these points up, backing them up with hard evidence (not just hear-say or opinions), for the purpose of protecting civilised society: so that muslims and non-muslims all can understand why islam is incompatible with western civilisation. If muslims are offended by any of that, then that offence is brought on by themselves. PC has no place here.\n\nHere are some reasons why islam is incompatible with civilised society:\n1. Muslims consider the quran to be the perfect book and their prophet to be the perfect man, who's behaviour is to be aspired to, so perfect that any imagery of him does him great injustice and is forbidden. Other than being plain stupid, this in itself doesn't affect civilised society much (except free speech when drawing cartoons), but this does becomes a critical point in combination with the next points:\n2. Of course they benefit from the civilised society, but not vice versa. \n4. Then there are the many verses in the quran that order muslims to fight non-muslims (and specifically jews), order death for adultery and homosexual behaviour, etc. Just search and you'll find as there are way too many to list here. I think Islam contains some problematic ideas (like the niqab, jihad etc.) and it does need to be reformed but in the meantime we shouldn't be prejudiced against moderate Muslims.

The niqab looks ridiculous.  It looks like what a bank robber or someone with a facial defect would wear.  The hijab should not be mandatory either.   Even the Quaran is not specific about the modest attire it prescribes (for both sexes).  There is too much pressure for Muslim women to put on this stupid attire.   It's pathetic that Muslims have to fear speaking out to even mildly criticize their religion and truly horrifying that most Muslims actually support killing people for leaving the religion.

I would like to come and experience and be educated more about Islam I am a new Muslim Canadian women but with my husband not here with me in Canada I find it hard to learn on my own. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. In Saudi Arabia, non-muslims have to wear the hijab. So if Muslims plan to stay in Western countries, they have to unveil just like every other Western woman. Besides, you don't know if it is a man or a woman in burquah and it's frightening. They talk about women in Islam wearing the hijab, but how many of them really pracitise true Islam. Why are not wanting to go to Saudi Arabia. Double standards - they want the Western lifestyle and money and not the Saudi Arabian lifestyle. No other religious group flaunt their religion like the Muslims.

I as a Canadian am sick of muslims and I don't care if people like it or not, they are ungrateful and Canadian taxpayers having to pay a bill of over 260,000 dollars makes me angry, if you don't want to show your faces get the hell out and don't come ,it's high time we all wake up and see this cancer for what it is. Being a Muslim woman must be very sad, in countries where Islam is the main religion they can't choose how to dress, they can't choose to have a career, they can chose who to marry, they can't choose their religion, and Islam also endorse husband to beat his wife if necessary. To the women who wear the niqab: do you really think that God is so stupid to judge you by what you wear??? God looks at your heart.\nThen, we can discuss about how much the US destabilised the middle east, but in general Islam doesn't fit well in a globalised world and created no social and economic development in the last 100 years. There are small exceptions (Qatar, UAE) who found oil under their ass, but in general a society who wants to live and do things like 1.600 years ago can only bring inequality and no progress whatsoever.

As a Muslim living in Canada, I don't see the harm in a woman wanting to cover herself, I wear the head scarf myself, but in my opinions I don't feel the need to cover myself to prove I am more modest or a better Muslim.  I believe everyone has free will and has the right in this Country to dress the way that the law has allowed them to.  No one has the right to tell someone how to dress, not even the Prime Minister himself.  Telling a woman what she can and cannot wear is oppression.  I truly believe that if Muslims want to live in Western civilization, then they should refrain from covering their faces because the face is our identity and People have the right to know who you are and what your face looks like.  You cannot vote with a covered face, you cannot cover your face in a passport photo, you cannot cover your face for your driver's licence etc... I am a Muslim woman and I say this.  It truly is a shame how the media is portraying Islam and the Muslim people as a whole, and it truly is a shame that Canadians have become so ignorant.  I see more ignorance and racism in Canada than I do in America and 9/11 took place in America.  If you want to know about Islam, learn about Islam from a Muslim, a Library, google Islam, or offer to spend a few days with a Muslim family for research to get a better understanding of Islam and Muslims.  As a Muslim myself I can understand the hatred and the ignorance because we act according to how we were taught and raised, and yes we have many extremists claiming to follow the Islamic faith.  These extremists are not only hurting Western civilization, but they are also hurting the peaceful moderate Muslims that value their rights and freedoms as Canadians.  I do not appreciate ISIS hijacking my religion, I do not appreciate Hamas or Hezballah hijacking my Religion because I am a very accepting person and a very open minded Muslim and to be defined by media as a problem or a terrorist is very hurtful and a shame.

Interesting tidbit. My neighbors across from my apartment are Muslims. Normal, non extremist Muslims. They have 3 children. A girl around 9 and two boys around 4 and 7. It was heart-breaking to watch the poor daughter wear long sleeve cotton shirts, long cotton leggings, and a heavy dress over that in addition to a headscarf in 100+ heat this last summer. No AC in our apartments and her family is dressing her like it's 60 degrees outside with heavy fabrics and no airflow. She hasn't even hit puberty, yet only her brothers were able to run around in tshirts and shorts enjoying themselves. She always just sat around looking bored watching the other kids play.

It's interesting to see a Muslim woman give her opinion when in many Muslim dominated countries she wouldn't be given the same opportunity. I've also noticed many Muslims being interviewed are obviously not from overseas meaning they most likely haven't lived in a country that is governed by the law of the religion they follow. I wonder how they would enjoy living in any of the Muslim countries where Sharia law is practiced.

Stephen Harper is the best PM this country has ever had. Muslims are a people that should be a cause of concern. Its is not a religion of peace. The women say its their choice to wear face coverings. that is a lie. Their fathers or husbands force this on them. Best thing for any western society is to send them all back to the mideast. Women should wear what they want. However, there are signs on Bank doors saying 'do not wear bike helmets' yet these Muslim women can have only their eyes showing and get away with it for religious reason. They might as well walk into the Bank wearing a balaclava. They are intimidating, you are removing their human features thus making them threatening and suspicious. There should be exceptions, like when and where you can wear them if we cannot remove it completely at least.
