I am an immigrant and am disgusted by the government immigration policies. This is no longer the Canada I can to.

Yes, there needs to be a moratorium on immigration now. We need to take care of Canadians here in Canada first. These unvetted refugees/immigrants are causing an increase in crime, increase in housing and our doctors and teachers are stretched to the brink. It simply not sustainable to have over 1 million immigrants planned for the next 3 years. The Liberals are having this open door policy to bolster votes.

Canada's current immigration policies are simply leading to the recolonization of Canada by large immigrant colonies who are economically opportunistic, and basically commute from their home country.

I don't think Canadian Government have many options for this matter. People now can see one or two side effects of a sequence of immigration policies, but overlook the other side of the same coin that newcomers fill a gap in the labor market and tax revenue. After pandemic, I suppose many restaurant and hotel owners would be happy to see more legal migrants coming to Canada. For public schools, they may also be happy to see that. And I don't see a good reason for a country of immigrants to start a backlash against migrants. Believe it or not, there're still a large group of people and businesses benefitting from those policies. The second largest country around the globe only has a population of about 40 million, even less than that of UK. It sounds like a joke when people just complain about housing crisis due to higher immigration but not complain about lots of vacant and unutilized spaces.

The current status of the housing has nothing to do with immigration, they are just the easy target to blame. The current status of housing is the result of MUNICIPAL AND PROVINCIAL POLICIES. Both regulate land use strategies, taxation and environmental impact assessments. It is no longer viable for investors to deal with the layers of red tape. It can take up to a decade to get permits for a new 50 home survey or 200 unit apartment building. Want to blame someone, attend a city council meeting and see the process of trying to build anything for public use.

Canada should plan better. You need housing and resources.\nCan't depend on people to make housing available for rent.\nIt is not the immigrants' fault that there is a crisis.\nIt is the government policies that only care for the money coming in with the immigrants.\nThe same with students.\nInternational students bring their money. They pay triple tuition. There should be more done to ensure they don't become homeless or dependent on food banks after coming here.\n\nIf that is happening, the Canadian government needs to put in more measures to check students' funds.

Bringing talent from around the world is NOT the root cause of the housing crisis. \n\nOther variables such as increased taxes, lack of policy around banking rules, lack of goverment grants/funding for businesses (coming out of COVID or even startup companies) etc etc are attributing to the housing crisis.\n\nWorking with others from around the world coming into this country has actually been a blessing in that it fosters healthy competition within the workplace and society.\n\nLocal born citizens do not all know the meaning and value of work ethics. \n\nWhat a joke and ignorant statement that immigrants are causing housing crisis and strain on health care system.\n\nThe system of Healthcare is broken. Simple answer, Liberals. The current government's policies and actions show they don't care for Canadians nor anyone immigrating here.\nAlso, our healthcare system is not free. The governments unending progressive policies completely forget that you have to actually produce houses and allow medical systems to grow to accommodate the increase in population. \n\n1. Money is worth way less than it used to due to inflation from excess money printing \n2. There aren't enough jobs for full time employment\n3. The medical system is massively shorthanded resulting in huge ER wait times, no family doctors and long specialist wait times (up to a year)\n4. Unnecessary excessive taxation with very little to show for it in terms of public services\n5. Massive housing shortage - Only 1 house being built for every 7 new immigrants coming to Canada\n6. General lack of infrastructure to allow for the increased population in most cities

You are lying to the people about Canada or you don't know. West Africans, aka sub Saharan African are not the favoured group selected for immigration to Canada. For some reason the immigration policy favours Indians from India. 90% of the people favoured now for immigration into Canada are Indians and secondly Latinos from Mexico or some other Latin American country. People from West Africa are a trickle. All this information is on line, Google it. Also Canada is experiencing inflation and everyone is crying about the very high cost of living and finding housing. The housing market is now going through a depression and the amortization rate instead of 30 years is now leaning towards 40-60 years owing to high interest rates. Also there is not overt racism but it definitely THERE, try promotion to the highest level of management in the work place and see how many years you will plateau till retirement, aka HIT THE CONCRETE SEALING. Bro, I don't doubt your experience but you are definitely an anomaly, aka an exception as you are saying that you are here in Canada living the good life. So many West Africans in Toronto are working with InstaCard, Door Dash and doing Uber and Lyft. It is called the GIG economy. You are not in a stable job. The living standard is high in Canada, meaning even the poorest has access to a quality life through the Social Services govt system. Maybe you think that is living the good life equivalent or on par with a person of European ancestry who is at least 3rd generation Canadian and in over 75% of the cases have had a transference of Generational wealth.

1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

Coming from a Canadian citizen, bad government policies all around for the last 8 years is a major reason, but also Canada has become a culture of virtue signaling, leading to valuing foreign aid, migrants and refugees over its own citizens, also accommodating of oversea values and beliefs that immigrants brings into the country over its own founding values and culture.

The Canadian economy is in stagnation (at best). The real estate in the mean time stays in a bubble (partly due to inflation and partly to that very unsustainable immigration policy). Labor market is as good as dead (at least for qualified skilled workers) - with too many businesses (including oil and gas) in decline or leaving. And the overall quality of life as well as the future outlook for young and new Canadians are in decline. Try to fix all that first!

I've been in Canada for 27 years and Justin Trudeau's policies are really destroying the country. Immigration is key to the development of Canada, but not so high in so little time.

There is an adverse selection in the cohort of immigrants leaving Canada. Immigrants with skill and money will likely leave Canada, sometimes after obtaining the easiest-to-get citizenship among G7 as insurance policies, for greener pasture or return to their home countries. Thus, leaving behind unskilled immigrants working min. pay menial jobs. Many 2-year colleges in Canada, like Langara, also exploits international students with bait-and-switch schemes and false promises. These int‘l students will not gain meaningful employment after graduation but continue to work min. pay menial jobs. Depend on their home countries, some will stay, but others from more advanced economies will likely leave Canada. Thus, leaving Canadian tax payers holding the bags. \nInflation and housing are also high in other countries, but there are more high pay jobs too. \nThat‘s why the federal govt decides to address this issue. It is too late, I think.\nYes, I will also be leaving Canada soon. I don‘t want to cough up over 50% marginal tax to subsidize drug addicts, criminals, etc.

And yet they keep bringing in more when nobody wants them, nobody can house them, international students are being scammed and Trudeau's policies are failing us. We are a giant country with tons of natural resources and we do nothing. We should be focused on gas, lumber, hydroelectricity and mines ! Most immigrants come from more conservative places. They don’t wave rainbow flags and get all libtarded about social issues. They see a prime minister that is a flaming liberal and large cities failing due to liberal policies. And most of all the pushing of liberal ideologies in public schools on children. They are not having it and I don’t blame them one bit. I welcome Islam as it is the only religion pushing back on the gender fluid rainbow flag waiving liberal Canadians. Islam is the best chance to get things back on track in North America. I am saying this as a Canadian born white guy.

I don't see immigrants. Just loads and loads of indians from every other indian village coming in with the rest of their family or worse, their community. All the jokes about Brampton aren't even a joke anymore. It's a nightmare. The government's policies are too much leaning on the left side. Cost of living is too high. Spending too much on constructions and other cash-grabbing projects that have no due dates and never end; they drive up the taxes on everything. The quality of new immigrants are also one of the major factor.

We all know that the core of the problem is an immigration policy (not the immigrants) which is completely disconnected from the rest of the picture. Immigration targets have not been built in conjunction with housing and transportation programs, and it would seem that we are not bringing in the sort of labour we actually need - skilled trades ready to build homes. It rather seems that immigration policy has been crafted in lock-step with fiscal and monetary policy in order to push back on wages and expedite the financialization of everything, especially housing. In short, it seems to be part of the plan to move towards a digital feudalism, where capitalists are vassals of the owners, who make their money through rent-seeking.

No wonder everything is getting so expensive and housing and rent is going through the roof. almost 1/2 million new residents a year? Where is all the infrastructure and housing for that coming from? The gov needs to put the brakes on immigration and lets things stabilize for a while jesus. Almost every Liberal policy is like a perfect storm for making this country unaffordable for the average Canadian. \nIf you're going to let people in let it be only in job markets we need like high skilled workers, and especially doctors and nurses. And dear god help those doctors and nurses get appropriately accredited before giving them citizenship. Our system needs people who can work in the system not people who got their degree or diploma in some flyby night school. I see way to many people at my workplace trying to get jobs with fake diplomas or degrees. Those people need to be deported ASAP! They lied to get here and they are lying to employers. Sorry no sympathy there.

After receiving government support, these immigrants take the money and leave. Immigration policy is screwed up. Why not take that money and invest it in Canadians who need it the most to help develop Canada.

America presents harrowing & too limited pathways to obtain just work permits/residency, except you won a green card lottery or something; don't even talk about the asylum program. Without specifying names, my workplace has recently hired a significant number of people from South America, thanks to policies that granted them a five-year visa, food stamps, and free medical care insurance.\n\nThe workplace environment has deteriorated noticeably, with garbage littering the floor, and a lack of adherence to the rules. During my breaks, I cannot even find peace in my car because some individuals are smoking marijuana and the smoke is blowing towards me. To make matters worse, someone damaged my car on private property, and when I asked for their insurance information, they responded with profanities in Spanish and fled the scene.\n\nAs an immigrant, I came to this country with the intention of being an asset, not a liability. It’s crucial that we have a president who can address these concerns without fearing the demands of any specific minority group.

Ontario cut social policies to convert them into welfare for the massive influx of immigrants they received from Syria and Afghanistan starting in 2014, I was there and saw the change Toronto went through from 2013 to 2018 with thousands of people from abroad that received hefty benefits while not able to work, integrate, contribute to society, but were major PR scores for politicians and their campaigns. Aside from that, the cost of rent and food skyrocketed without any control and I've seen unjustified markups at Nofrills in just a year, let alone ordering some below-mediocre pizza for $25 or getting a hamburger meal for $15, and these were 2018 prices.
