Australia has an almost identical situation as Canada. Ludicrously expensive housing, banking, cost of living, lack of competition in supermarkets/banks/airlines etc. \nI live in a OK-nice home in an OK area and my house would sell for $1.6M. If anyone young wants to buy now, they’d literally not be able to.

The system is BROKEN. Tenants like this one are abusing the backlogs, landlords like this one want pitty when they are clearly MAKING INCOME on these rentals but are NOT paying taxes on those earnings yet, everyone else has to pay taxes on what little they earn. PLUS, there are landlords such as mine that has decided to take away my basement after renting the WHOLE house so he can build another unit so he can make more money but all he's offered is to keep my rent at the same price, no increase. I have to put up with losing space, parking, dealing with deathly noise for who knows how long just so he can make more money????? He should have made a clear contract around this plan he had to add another unit when he rented it to me. Sadly, landlords have become very greedy, I don't know where they get so much money to buy multiple homes but most families in Canada today can't afford the outrageous downpayments being asked to own a home!!!! I don't necessarily feel sorry for landlords. NOW pay taxes on your income from these homes and you have more of a right to complain I say.

Why would they want to leave Canada? No free healthcare in US...

I went to Florida with a church group when I was 12, we stopped in Detroit to eat and when we left the restaurant our Van had no wheels and was sitting on blocks ?. I came to Saskatchewan Canada as an international student in fall 2023. I did a care assistant program and was attracted to coming to Canada because I kept hearing that there is a labour shortage in healthcare in Canada. However I feel like everything just started going to sh*t in 2024 when I was finishing up my program ?.\n\n One of the things I'd like to highlight about the small towns is that they can be very biased in their hiring practices. Some of us as (black) students had a hard time getting jobs in healthcare in the town because jobs were given based on family and friend linkages (so mostly white or Filipino people got hired). Also there was a severe housing shortage. So even though locals (from my perception) wanted us to stay and work in healthcare (because they are short staffed), realistically there was no where to stay. Canada can't say it wants people in more rural areas and not improve housing in those areas as well. I have honestly been rather disappointed with Canada because I expected better planning from a developed country.

I believe that lack of health care in the U.S. stops many Canadians from even considering moving and working in the U.S. It may take longer to get medical care and treatment in Canada, but everyone is entitled to it. About 30 yrs ago we all paid into it, at our jobs. Not anymore. I believe employers may still be paying into it, but I think now it is just paid for with our taxes. So even people that do not work or are retired, each and every person is allowed it - if you live here.\nThere is also some Dental Care provided for some Children. Very recently,free Dental care is provided for people over 65. It is very new, so I do not know a lot about it yet. Also some drugs too are free for those over 65 too.\n\nPersonally I do not even want to visit the U.S because it seems like a very dangerous place.

Canada often denies visas even to retired members of Indian security services but never denies visas to veterans of Western countries which have a mile long documented record of human right abuses in foreign countries in Asia and Africa. Granting visas is a sovereign right.
