Economic Measures\n\n1. Trade Sanctions:\n\nThe U.S. could impose severe trade sanctions, significantly affecting Mexico's export-driven economy. Since the U.S. is Mexico's largest trading partner, this would create economic turmoil, particularly in industries like automotive, agriculture, and manufacturing.\n\n\n\n2. Disruption of Remittances:\n\nThe U.S. could restrict the flow of remittances, which are a major source of income for millions of Mexican families. This could be achieved through regulatory controls or financial restrictions on money transfer services.\n\n\n\n3. Border Closures:\n\nClosing the border to Mexican goods, services, and workers would severely harm Mexico's economy and disrupt supply chains.\n\n\n\n4. Withdrawal of Investment:\n\nThe U.S. could pressure American companies to pull investments from Mexico, particularly in manufacturing sectors like automotive and aerospace.\n\n\n\n\nPolitical Measures\n\n1. Diplomatic Isolation:\n\nThe U.S. could work to isolate Mexico diplomatically by influencing allies to reduce cooperation with the country.\n\n\n\n2. Support for Opposition Groups:\n\nThe U.S. could covertly or overtly support opposition groups to destabilize the Mexican government, creating political turmoil.\n\n\n\n3. Restricting Visas and Immigration:\n\nHalting legal immigration from Mexico and implementing stricter visa policies could strain relations and harm Mexico's workforce mobility.\n\n\n\n\nMilitary Measures\n\n1. Targeting Drug Cartels:\n\nWhile publicly framed as fighting organized crime, intensified military actions against cartels could destabilize Mexico's security situation.\n\n\n\n2. Covert Operations:\n\nThe U.S. could conduct covert operations to undermine Mexican infrastructure, either physically or digitally (e.g., cyberattacks on critical infrastructure like energy grids or communication networks).\n\n\n\n3. Border Militarization:\n\nIncreasing military presence at the border could strain Mexico's resources and create political tensions.\n\n\n\n\nCyber Measures\n\n1. Cyberattacks:\n\nAttacking Mexico's financial systems, government databases, or key infrastructure through cyber warfare could cause significant disruption without direct military intervention.\n\n\n\n2. Misinformation Campaigns:\n\nSpreading disinformation to create internal conflict or undermine public trust in Mexico's government.\n\n\n\n\nEthical and Strategic Considerations\n\nThese actions would not only harm Mexico but also have significant repercussions for the U.S., including:\n\nDamaging the U.S.'s reputation internationally.\n\nDestabilizing the region, leading to increased migration and security issues.\n\nEconomic blowback, given the deep economic integration between the two countries.\n\n\nIt's essential to emphasize that discussing these scenarios does not advocate or condone such actions. Such hypothetical strategies underscore the importance of diplomacy, mutual respect, and cooperative international relations.

The Ford EV one of my friends drive was made in Mexico. Another friend told me that her refrigerator and tv was made in Mexico as well. So, I think the general population is (including myself) a little ignorant about where the household items we use everyday come from. It's not just avocados, tomatoes, beer, and tequila and immigrants arriving from the southern border. As for Canada, we import most of our gas from there, as well as, precious metals. I suppose that if we are struggling financially now, what is coming our way might be a little worse for some people. I have friends that say that prices going up does not affect their budget at all. It does affect mine though. That's where we are.

Drugs, like trump hats and tee shirts are imported because they are cheaper. They would still be made in America if there were no china. China will always have a trade surplus with America because of the cheaper costs……that is until china overtakes America which is almost there.
2024-11-28 0
Lower prices tax cuts getting illegal immigrants out and putting tariffs on imported goods really and look at what happened to the nation's deficit under his last time in office.
2024-11-28 0
Screw Mexico and Canada. I don't give one damn what the president of Mexico says and Justin Trudeau is even less important than that. Reports like this are why CNN's ratings are in the tank. Anyone that believes ANYTHING on the 'Communist News Network' is an idiot. Like MSNBC and all mainstream fake news, CNN will go the way of the dodo.

Balance of Trade deficit: US import more goods from China. Tariffs on goods coming from China will be passed on to consumers thru increased prices.
2024-11-28 0
lol why do the brainless sheep believe trump when he says China is paying for the tariffs?? - nothing could be further from the truth - it is the usa importers who pay the tariffs and they in turn pass on those increased costs to the american consumers. So when trump says he will put 60% tariffs on Chinese goods, it means that the american consumers will have to pay at least 60% more for those goods.

This is indicative of the stupidity he is capable of. He will allow his arrogance to ruin our international relations with every other country on the planet most importantly the NATO member nations. He will go at her regardless. She has already decided what her response will be.

Mexico has a huge meth problem. The poor underfunded clinics dont even have tests for fentanyl. \nSo there is underreporting of fentanyl deaths. \n\nThe allow businesses to import chemicals to make fentanyl and accept bribes from cartles.
2024-11-27 0
Who cares about tariffs? Climate change is obviously the single most important issue. You won't have groceries to buy when Earth will be F***ed...
2024-11-27 0
More MSNBC lies. President elect Trump just announced that he and the President of Mexico have spoken and Mexico has agreed to work to significantly reduce illegal crossings from Mexico into the US. They also have agreed to work with US authorities to combat drug cartels and reduce the illegal importation of illicit drugs into the US. \nThis is exactly what Trump
2024-11-27 2
Lol you people really think America needs Mexico ? hate to break it to you but you’re not the Middle East, no oil, you’re not that important.
2024-11-27 0
Trump os dumb his professor said he was the dumbest student he ever had. Donny when tariffs are added on imports the importing county pays them. Wake up. You are showing you are not a business man. If property taxes go up you have to pass it on to the golfers so you raise what it costs to play a round add it on to the cart fee. You wont take the loss you dumb dumb
2024-11-27 0
Maybe solve the problems that are causing people to not want babies instead of importing the world into those same problems.
2024-11-27 0
Ignoring retaliatory tariffs (China, Mexico, and Canada could slap on tariffs on goods they import from the United States) that would drive down demand for goods exported from the United States, Trumps tariffs would raise prices a lot for consumers, even if the tariffs would help some domestic producers.

Over thirty years ago I worked with a recent immigrant from Iran. Pulled over for speeding he argued with the cop. In Iran, you argue with the cops and tell them how important you are and how the cop will get in trouble for harrassing you. It went as you might expect. I explained that in Canada we thank the officer for the ticket and they generally lower the speed you're charged with.

Imagine Mesco threatening the US? Bwahahahaha the US doesn’t import jack to Mesco.
2024-11-27 0
Wow!! She didn't read the most important part ??‍♂️
2024-11-27 5
What foolish reasoning to believe that tariffs on imports will correct the drug addiction of a society overwhelmed by income inequality, inflation, unemployment, debt and poor education.
2024-11-27 0
And not all are from Mexico. Tit for tat. Wait till they Stop sending America ANY imports ? Guess
2024-11-27 1
She is terrified. We import a LOT more ftom Mexico than we export to Mexico.
2024-11-27 0
Do your research. Less jobs in USA means higher taxes for a working people in USA. Do your research, China owns all the ports and docks in Mexico, so all the unregulated imports coming into Mexico are trucked and rail trained over the south borders while bidens border patrol agencies are tied up processing illegals and looking for drugs and terrorists, imports are pouring into the USA with not ONE regulation on them..
2024-11-27 0
LOL I don’t think even the most left-wing Democrat is scared of anything the president of Mexico threatens with. ??\n\nIf really cheap, illegal, migrant labor is stopped, then the tariffs put on Mexican produce that’s imported will allow farmers to compete with those prices here in the United States. And they will be able to pay a higher wage and lots of legal migrant workers will go and pick produce.
2024-11-26 0
Its almost on par US exports v US imports with Mexico approximately $440 B usd\nTrumps warning imo is more signalling in how seriously the situation is viewed and what is on the table telling the extent Trump is prepared to go in solving the problem.
2024-11-26 0
Can anyone name one item that mexico imports from USA????
2024-11-26 0
Of course domestic businesses are getting the tariffs bills - it's an import tax, it will raise business costs and retail prices domestically - why don't people get it?
2024-11-26 0
That's okay. We already know how to make refried bean slop with U.S. grown ingredients and can manufacture our own knock-off souvenir trinkets! No need for Mexican imported products!
2024-11-26 0
Trump is an idiot and he's going to tank the Midwest red States producing farm products. Those farming red states export to those countries that trump will tariff and those countries are going to set their own tariffs on the US imported products including farm produce, auto goods etc. But hey they voted the idiot in and now they get what they get. ?
2024-11-26 0
but china using mexico to import alot of goods to USA and mexican not getting much from it!!!! i support trump move 1000%
2024-11-26 0
I'm old. You know how I know that for sure? I remember Laugh-in and I keep hearing Sock-It-To-Me, Sock-It-To-Me, Sock-It-To-Me. Tariff's arent' going to strengthen our trade negotiations with China. Quite the opposite. They'll just cut a better import deal with other countries. And it's not COUNTRIES that are ripping us off - it's CORPORATIONS. Trump wants you to believe it is countries so he can give tax cuts to corporations and dumb people won't know how badly that is screwing us over. It's like 'Over here is the REAL evil', not over there! Trust me! I'm your protector!!'

Mexico and South America thought them productions was gotten be reestablished to them.. and tax US as the middle man with the help of china billion dollar import in Peru, and choke hold on them minerals within the Caribbeans… it looks like a transfer of wealth was cooking up with the full support from the ?donkey party.
2024-11-26 0
Her words are not important. They’re a joke. Who cares what this Mexican woman thinks? Really? Who gives a damn?
2024-11-26 0
someone please ask that presidential lady in mexico if she knows how we might decide to hold her and her countrymen accountable for those 300,000 Americans we loved so very much! importing death in America and then talking tough is not acceptable..
2024-11-26 0
To everyone that voted for him, expect your grocery bills to rise even more now, the Us imports a lot of food from Mexico, and on top of that he says he will deport millions of immigrants, many of them work in our fields, so we will be paying much more for our food, buckle up Americans, idiots elected and idiot for leader.
2024-11-26 0
Canada and Mexico will not take it lying down! Enough of Trump and his crazy nonsense! I can't even imagine the extent of his ignorance on important economic matters and every other matter. This must be how insanity looks and sounds like. Americans will have to deal with him themselves. He is so full of it!
2024-11-26 0
this is not not an economic back and forth, mexico better get their head on straight, there will be ACTION WITHOUT \nMEXICO S PERMISSION SOON.. THEY WILL BE SORRY IF THEY CONTINUE OPPOSING AMERICAN INTERESTS AND IMPORTING DEATH HERE!!
2024-11-26 0
We need tariffs right now to slow down our spending and reduce inflation. Not only that, IMO this will be a temporary ouchy for US consumers but in the long run it’s going to benefit us if we stay strong. \nIf you notice, we have some of the best entrepreneurs in the world and many people here looking for the next opportunity. I’m sure we will find people to replace those imports and maybe eventually do it more efficiently and eventually affordable with coming technology.
2024-11-26 0
Trump needs to understand that the U.S. is in a struggle for Allie’s as China tries to peddle its influence in central and South America— with no more important country than Mexico…
2024-11-26 0
I agree with trump make America great again, we do not need cheap labor to harvest our fields, nor to clean our houses, nor to clean our dirt. We as Americans can do it, nor do we need to import food or goods not produced in our country our land can grow by our hands bananas, rice, corn, beans all year long even in cold snow winter, when can make cars and tractors and allow china to grow in the markets that we remove our companies pure american pride we can do it
2024-11-26 0
Trumps supporters were too dumb to comprehend that high tariffs on imports would NOT help our economy. It’s like when trump said that Mexico would pay for the border wall. Mexico is playing chess while diaper Don is playing candyland
2024-11-26 0
Zionist placed Mexican President=We DO Not care about importing your chiklets.
2024-11-26 0
Mexico’s president is so much more mature than our clown-elect. He thinks that overcharging for imported food will slow down America’s drug consumption ? That’s like playing American football with a billiard ball!
2024-11-26 0
Much of the material that makes Up Tesla Vehicles is imported. So Very likely Musk Will be exempt from Trump tariffs.
2024-11-26 0
Tariffs are important it saves jobs in America by not allowing countries to dump extra cheap products in the country to run business in America out of business like what just happened in Chicago with a tire plant cheap tires coming from China forced a sumitomo tire plant in Chicago to close and lay off American workers. Stop listening to these people on the media who gets their talking points from the same Globalist that is destroying America ?

In 1930 American politicians decided to significantly increase tariffs \nand 25 other countries immediately responded by imposing significant tariffs\non American products and the trade war made the depression significantly worse.\n\nTrump's trade war won't likely lead to a depression but it will make things \nworse for almost everyone.\n\nExpect higher inflation, economic stagnation and also economic disruption \nas American companies can't suddenly and magically create new production \nto replace imports and can't do it as cheaply or they would already have been doing that\nand American exporters are going to face tariffs and sanctions imposed \non their products by other countries.\n\nThe extremely integrated car manufacturing industries in the United States, Canada and Mexico could be thrown into chaos.\nAn average car part crosses a border about 8 times during production.\nHow the heck do high tariffs deal with that standard car production situation?\n\nTrump would know all this if he thought about history or\nabout how the North American economy works or thought at all\nbut thinking is not something that appeals to Trump.\nInstead he just spouts out whatever random idea pops into his head \nand calls it policy.

Trump is the biggest Hypocrite in America!\nThis is a guy who’s merchandise, that he sells to his cult followers mainly comes from China, NOT THE US! Is he going to put a tariff on the crap he imported! Of course not!\nHis own daughter, in his first term, on an official visit to China, negotiated HUNDREDS of trademarks with CCP officials, whilst being an advisor of daddy’s administration! Which netted her and Jared millions of dollars in profits! Talk about republicans being massive HYPOCRITES, they should’ve investigated her! But the GOP have all become LICKSPITTLES, AND RING KISSERS to their Dear Leader!
2024-11-26 0
The MAGA cult sheep who think that Trump adding a tax onto all imported products \nwill save them money are about to get a basic lesson in arithmetic and economics.\n\nAny 7 year old could have explained it to them but MAGA cult sheep don't like \nto listen to people explaining reality to them - \nit reminds them that they are disconnected from reality.

for those that don't understand tariffs. If I currently import a t-shirt from Mexico for 10.00 and sell it in the US for 15.00, I make 5 dollars in profit which I use to pay my staff and keep my business running. When Trump puts a 25% tariff on that t-shirt, it now costs me 12.50.You think I am going to eat 2.50 per t-shirt. No, I'm now going to charge you, the consumer, 17.50 for the same t-shirt because my cost of doing business has not gone down. You all really need to do some research and understand tariffs. I'm not moving my business to the US. I'm still getting the same amount of money for my products. The US consumer is footing the bill....

So if Mexico and Canada somehow stop the flow of fentanyl into the United States \nis Trump in return going to bring in adequate gun control laws so that the flow of smuggled American guns into Mexico and Canada is stopped?\nMexico and Canada should demand that in return.\nSmuggled American guns are responsible for a huge proportion of the shootings and murders in Mexico and in Canada.\n\nAnd I doubt very much that there is significantly more fentanlyl entering the United States from Canada than is entering Canada from the United States.\n\nAnd completely stopping the flow of fentanlyl sounds like magic.\nIt's impossible.\n\nAnd the whole reason for the movement of fentanlyl is the demand in the United States \nso even if Mexico and Canada could completely stop the flow of fentanlyl \nthere will still be fentanlyl in the United States - either imported or produced in the United States.\n\nI don't believe that Trump doesn't really cares about fentanlyl addicts.\nHe just wants an excuse to be a bully and to express his xenophobia.\nWho believes Trump really cares about fentanlyl addicts? Nobody.
