The Ford EV one of my friends drive was made in Mexico. Another friend told me that her refrigerator and tv was made in Mexico as well. So, I think the general population is (including myself) a little ignorant about where the household items we use everyday come from. It's not just avocados, tomatoes, beer, and tequila and immigrants arriving from the southern border. As for Canada, we import most of our gas from there, as well as, precious metals. I suppose that if we are struggling financially now, what is coming our way might be a little worse for some people. I have friends that say that prices going up does not affect their budget at all. So when trump says he will put 60% tariffs on Chinese goods, it means that the american consumers will have to pay at least 60% more for those goods.

We need tariffs right now to slow down our spending and reduce inflation. If I currently import a t-shirt from Mexico for 10.00 and sell it in the US for 15.00, I make 5 dollars in profit which I use to pay my staff and keep my business running. When Trump puts a 25% tariff on that t-shirt, it now costs me 12.50.You think I am going to eat 2.50 per t-shirt. No, I'm now going to charge you, the consumer, 17.50 for the same t-shirt because my cost of doing business has not gone down. You all really need to do some research and understand tariffs.
