A thought experiment:\nImagine that the Canadian government was given a magic technology that could build five million new homes overnight and assign them by lottery to people who didn't currently own a home.\nWould the government push the button to build the homes and give them to people who needed a home?\nNope. It would not.\nWhy?\nBecause the price of existing houses and apartments in Canada would drop by at least 50% overnight. And in our new, insane, everything-is-financialized, asset-prices-are-the-most-important-thing world, that would be deemed unacceptable.\nJust chew on that for a moment: we have a society, an economy, a governing and property owning class, that would prefer to forego the incredible quality of life increases for the population of magicking 5 million homes into existence, than to lose the valuations of a resource that is so scarce that demand grossly outstrips supply.\nWe live in a world of utter madness.

Do you think Tariffs at 25%+ against Canada is enough to pop the housing bubble in and throw its banking sector into chaos? Coupled with strategic hits to its largest investment grade corporations attempting to hit the rating agency metrics. Thus, squeezing their cash flow to topple them into junk status, again hammering Canadas bond market? This Dominoe effect would collapse the currency making Canada the 51st State, finally!

The rule in Canada is ‘my adult children cannot afford to buy in the neighborhood they grew up in!…housing prices have to go down!\n\nWhat they really mean is they want their next door neighbours to sell THEIR house for $250,000, but still want their own hose to be worth $2.8 million (after paying $135,000 for it in 1985 - like my older sister and her family)….\n\nSorry it doesn’t work that way….oh, and forget about them voting for parties which restrict immigration - if immigration goes down, so will the regular increases in the price of housing….

As for “America’s presumptive 51st State” in the intro, as a Canadian, please don’t normalise talking about us as the 51st State, even in jest. We are a sovereign nation, and after seeing the utter disrespect with which Trump and Vance treated President Zelenskyy recently, we have to keep our elbows up ! Otherwise, solid economic analysis of the current situation here in Canada. Merci !

Canada is a joke to reject the offer to join the US. I think aussie and kiwis should join the US too

Add another video and replace 'Canada' with 'Australia'. For we are only a short while behind Canada.

I tried launching a startup in cleantech in Canada, shortly after COVID. No private investors had an interest, and none of the banks lend to businesses, unless they have cash flow.\n\nLong story short, there is no economic mobility in Canada. You are either rich or poor, and nether can swap places. Despite how foolish property speculation is, compared to the potential of a cleantech startup (with a patent), rich people put it into real estate anyways. Literally everyone loses, because of the actions of economically illiterate rich people.

india people you are 100% the reason for visa changes rules. this channel is pure propagnada. some 20 000 or more never ending took any courses just went to canada to steal jobs from canadians. and some 50 000 indians were caught illegaly crossing into usa. fun fact nomad captislts rank the india passport 179-185 the world over lower than most african countries all about experience with said country

After the first 48 seconds of this video I'm now even more convinced that Canada and Australia are basically the same country

What a biased video! USA has AA credit because of their debt, Canada has AAA rating. And rapidly increasingly housing prices is seen across the G7. And the doubling of housing occurred during COVID19.

I’m part of that brain drain from Canada to the U.S. Having dual citizenship made that easy, and while I miss so many things about Vancouver, I was being totally squeezed between expensive housing and very poor income outlook. There were director level positions that were offering less than my mid level role; not a good look. Down south, I was able to jump income (not considering the exchange rate) 200% in two years, and I have far better career prospects. \n\nIt’s not great. I will always be a Canadian at heart.

Canada is starting to stink like curry

Canada, the liberal hellhole. Where getting cucked is mandatory by law and criminals have more rights than victims :)

They have started loosening zoning laws in many cities across Canada two years ago. I have noticed discounts to new homes in my area and some used homes started to go down in values. Even as a home owner, I still hope housing values go down. It will make it much easier to move into a nicer neighbourhood or into a larger home if life requires it.

Canada has many problems and disadvantages which will need to be determinedly addressed in the coming years. However, we have one key advantage over our friends to the south, and one I hope that over time this will increasingly bear fruit: we are not governed by a fascist-adjacent government. Our only political party with policies resembling the American Republicans is polling in the low single digits.\n\nSetting aside the question of whether American Republicans are 'fascist-adjacent', the truth is that much of the world perceives it as such. Our economy is so tied to the US that I would not wish them ill, or at least not very much. However, I think in the competition for talent American politics will be like a 'mark of Cane' on that country for a generation. My guess is that our - in comparison - boring politics will be a key advantage in the years to come.

I’m writing a novel series where there’s a different president in office in 2009-2013, and during this time the crisis in Canada leads to them joining with the UK and other Anglo nations to create a new British empire under the rule of King Charles, and the American president is then forced into a conflict with this new geopolitical foe, and it’s all for personal reasons.

it's going to work. Canada wont go to sell in EU or China it's over seas way to long and most of the times still has to go thru the US lol it's to costly for one, and EU just wont cover all the cost, forget the logistic nightmare. US is like a 2 hour drive away!! big big difference. So simple, trumps tariffs will make Canadien companies sell there product higher so they dont lose to much profits. what does that do? US wont buy! then companies shut down, people loose their jobs. very simple. Many go on welfare for a year, when they run out older one or less educated one cant find jobs etc...Trump will kill Canada plain and simple. that's it that's all. He want our resources and will do it, we are done for. this will also kill truck drivers and many many many side workers. until we are part of the US.

I understand the immigration problem Canada is currently facing but man this is no way to treat any human being, a Russian, Italian, American, Nigerian, Mexican, etc. no one deserves that kind of disrespect. Big props to him for keeping his cool and not letting it ruin his night.

2025-02-25 0
Dose not matter Indian or not..... But Yes Canada need Strict Visa and Immigration Policy like 90s.....
2025-02-25 0
Umm hold on if they are traveling from Canada into the U.S. Where is U.S. border security on this. They dictate who gets in and who doesn't far as their country. How is that Canada's fault? We seized litterarly 30 million worth of drugs and firearms in first week of better border security measures. Coming from the U.S. Don't hear Trump saying anything about that being a problem?! Too much none sense not enough realistic facts being stated via media on the U.S. side.
2025-02-25 0
Bull.hit....you got your clicks by spreading lies. You expect Canada to protect your border? Do your own job.
2025-02-25 0

2025-02-25 0
This is exactly why we have issues with Canada. Our military protects them and they do absolutely nothing for our borders.
2025-02-25 0
Trump was right??? No way?? Again?! .....?. It is on Canada to assist in stopping THEIR illegals from entering the USA.

2025-02-24 0
Really?? Over 95%of the illegal guns confiscated in the Greater Toronto Area were smuggled in from the USA. Who needs protection from who? You're killing us up here. Please do some real reporting and interview the municipal authorities in Canadian cities. And then control the easily acquired firearms that end up in Canada . You're just entertainment, that's all! Lol get a life
