I endured for 3 years but every day going worst. late in 2022I decided to move to the east coast because I thought that place has a stronger culture. I chose Montreal. I had heard it is the capital of art and civilization in Canada. it was absolutely wrong. Canada is Canada. I was shocked again, again, and again. the wave of homelessness, graffiti, vandalism, bad smell, terrible infrastructure especially roads in or out of the city, and above all, you can see trash everywhere. plastic bags, tissues, water bottles, and disposable cups. You cannot see any street or park or public place without these. This is impossible. surprisingly nobody cares. neither the people nor the government!!!!!!! please, don't be fooled by the advertisement about a good Canada. please, be careful. most of the things about a good Canada are deception. comparing Canada to other developed countries is wrong because Canada is only a developing country with a lot of serious problems. maybe a 2nd world country.

I moved from the US to Canada 3 years ago. I lived in the US all of my life. You wait 8 or more hours in the emergency room in the US. I have a great job and I'm paid more in canada than the US for my exact job.I make 6 figures in canada. I also have a small business that brings in additional income. I have a great account also. Great opportunities in Canada. In US you pay taxes and its also alot. I was able to buy a home easily in Canada within 3 years. My phone plan is cheap and i have US line as well. 50 bucks a month. I moved to Edmonton AB. People who live in Toronto like to compare it as if its the rest of Canada. Compare Toronto to New York city.

I studied in Australia for 3 years. The Indian restaurant owner I worked for dint pay me my AUD 5200. When I asked him he threatened me, I dint know my rights then so I backed off. Came back home and applied for various jobs then I came to know that my degree is useless and it’s not of any use in getting a good job. My dad spent nearly AUD 32000 fees in total plus I paid thousands of dollars in rent, clothes, gadgets, food and transportation.

What about the high fees and narrow ... In the education area international students who are forced whipped to take 3 / 9 even if they are sick, broke or have finally one subject left. ( sky rocket fees with so much biasness among coloured and Muslim students )\n\nCanada cares about family values, ( really ) my friend's husband died and her children have grown up, 6 years, no reason but it's Canada. \n\nWhy restrict students with their 3/9 to sponsor their partners, during these times of uncertainty ( pandemic ) we'll it's too hard but everyone and everything that tries to fly with eyes folded will crash land sooner or later. \n\nThe Canadian system is ? slow and too bad but squeezing the juice out of every new comment.\n\nI am an interior student with good English and am still unable to sponsor my husband. 4 years up. \n( alhamdulillah no language barrier, no criminal records, husband knows French, Engineer in profession, international experience... )

As someone who grew up as an expat those statistics you quote and those descriptions of the hardships you encounter are common among expats. It is that first year that determines for most people how long they are going to stay in a foreign country. The first year of living in a foreign country is the hardest and 1 in 3 expats moving back to their home country earlier than they intended is pretty common. The turn over rate for expats is about the same as those numbers you quoted. IMO this seems to have very little to do with Canada and more about what it is like to live abroad.

The bitter truth must be accepted. Without any exaggeration. Completely impartial. I have to say that I didn't see a single piece of garbage in any of the other country's videos to convince myself. Without exaggeration, in all Canadian cities, you will find a piece of trash or garbage on the ground less than every hundred meters. It must have an important reason. I do not know. But this is a bitter truth. You can try. This country should be brought closer to its exaggerated claim. Certainly, some Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and even Malaysia are much cleaner compared to Canada. At this time I live in Saint-Sauveur with my family. I work 5 hours a week as a volunteer person to clean the sides of roads, streets, national parks, and public places in the city. I lived in Vancouver for 4 years, this city is a disaster. when you drive or walk on East Hastings, Victoria Drive, Commercial Drive, West Georgia, Broadway, Main Street, Granville, and most places downtown, you never believe this city is in Canada. they're worst than some places in Africa or the 3rd world countries in Asia. I love this country and try my best to help. I came for peace. Each country has its own pros and cons and question is whether cons are balanced by pros. \nI remember when Austrian colleague come to Toronto for a 3 months for a scientific exchange. She was shocked, whereas I, being in my 5th year of my stay there, I no longer react but adapt to a situation. \n\nAs for doctors, I know foreign doctors who can't practice as is taking forever to get papers done. Some of them need to pass all exams from a medical school. \n\nYou reminded me how I was annoyed by tax not included in a price. In Poland price on a price tag is final, the same for the UK or Switzerland. \nSilent racism I will call it fake openness as it also touches white immigrants from Europe. The job market is sealed shut and glass door awaits. My Canadian, academic job experience was good enough for the UK and Switzerland/Liechtenstein. Funny fact, recently I got invitation to apply for a job in Canada as suddenly I am good enough. Of course no one ever invited me to the network so networking is not. Even funnier I was interviewed for a job but when I saw rent for 1 bedroom in Toronto I withdrawn my application.\n\n I was told old building in Switzerland are bad. Maybe. But after living in a carton wall studio in Toronto, now rent is above 2,000 CAN, I have very low expectations. Remember my shock when I saw quality of a buildings.

need to grow our housing(to out-pace investors coming in and turning them into airbnb's) and job availability(to raise wages), lower costs of housing/rent by at least 1/2... after that, sure... my co-worker's been here 3 years and still can't find an apartment because he can only afford about 800$ a month for rent... and for any place even remotely worth living it's 2000$... some of these people in government are so out of touch...

How about housing bring all these immigrants at once we can't it be implemented over the next 10 years why does it have to be in the next 3 years this puts pressure on housing and drives up the cost of housing the reasons we have a mass amount of people living on the streets now because it's become unaffordable.

At a time when Internet was at its infancy and not available to all, I had researched, applied (snail mail), and came to Canada in 1995 as a foreign student and attended a public college for 3+ years, including co-op. This was 27 years ago and it surprises me that with the wealth of information at our disposal today, there are folks who are still being taken for a ride. People need to smarten up, but often times, I find that it’s the shortcut attitude of many which allows a system like this to exists. I feel sad for these students and their parents, but if you truly want to have a full-fledged Uni / College experience in Canada, then stay away from these for-profit private colleges; apply to a school of repute.

In Australia, we get 4 weeks annual leave based on a 38hr week. I didn't realise Canada was 2 weeks, rising to 3 weeks after 5 years of working for the same employer and 4 weeks afrer 10 years. That does seem restrictive. Apart from that, Australia has high taxes, high insurance costs etc.

I have lived in Toronto most of my life and have noticed a really drastic change in the last 3 years. Crime has gone way up so has homelessness and drug abuse. Rent and house prices are sky high making it impossible to survive for a lot of people. If your starting from nothing it’s a lot harder to make something of yourself without help . Our rights and freedoms are being taken away right in front of our eyes. I plan on working a few more years and hopefully making enough investments that I’ll be able to live somewhere cheaper and hot all year round.

Quebec is a wonderful Province but there are some serious problems : #1 - an anti English undercurrent which sometimes produces some counter productive language laws #2 - a health care system in serious distress ( this is ignored by the politicians ) #3 - the highest taxes in Canada #4 - a lack of low income housing which is getting worse every year which creates an increasing homeless problem #5 - short summers and long cold winters ( not so bad if you dress properly ) #6 - an education system that is firmly stuck in the past. That being said , it's still #1 .

Born and raised here to immigrant parents. Everything that you shared is straight facts with one exception. Depending on the work you do you earn more than 2 weeks vacation. Starting out is usually 2-3 weeks but as you gain seniority/experience you earn more days/or weeks. A previous job I had after working there for 7 years, I earned 6 weeks vacation that I could take anytime throughout the year. When I started I had 2 weeks after a year it went to 3 etc. It depends on the job and experience. Everything else you shared though is 100% true. I've been advised it's best to have more than 1 citizenship for these many reasons.

All of things that you mentioned are true and all of them have drastically changed in the past 4 to 10 years with increased immigration. Smaller communities have had prices go up to 3 to 4 times what they were 6 years ago. Growing up here, prices were much lower - there was so much to do - cultural community activities were so much fun. Many Canadians can't go back to their home communities now because the prices have gone up so much. Many Canadians also want to be with their family and friends and not in a home - and do. We travelled all over North America when I was a child, and it was much easier to do then. In summary, I think that many of these things are very recent changes.

The rental housing market in Montreal is so so expensive and horrible,any places renting now for under $1250 .00 have to many problems,from bad noise levels to smokers and pot next door,cockroachs,mold,landlords all charging high prices for dirty apartments,in the last 3 years had to move 3 times do to these problems,just horrible high rents in Montreal,so hard to find a good place to live in Montreal anymore.

I left Canada years ago and haven't looked back - the taxation is over the top! Not to mention the simple joy of going out to eat/drink, then you need to add taxes (3 of them!) + tip! The heathcare system is also a bit of a false economy - long wait times for doctors, emerg etc. The weather during the winteris challenging. Very good video. I am an Australian citizen, and I share your views. Also I want to add another reason why I prefer Canada than Australia. Being originally from Peru, I currently live in Peru, my wife is also Peruvian and a baby with 5 month at the time of writing, however there is no family reunion visa to take my whole family (only my baby who will hold Australian citizenship but not my wife) so I cannot take them both, because migrations force my wife to apply to the Partner Visa, that cost AU$7850 (US$5,600) plus agent fees, documents, ticket price, and other cost. Also the waiting period is about 24 to 28 months. So if I return to Australia, I first need to find a job, then save the $5,600, send and amount of money to Peru during my absence, then wait about 2 years and spend about $10,000 to $15,000 extra to bring my family to Australia. The cost of waiting carries a lot of anxiety, health issued due to the uncertainty and may damage my marriage, And if I get to my wife a Visitor visa, she is not allowed to work and study, and I must pay private insurance, and for experience, private insurance policies and gap costs are very high. Of course visiting my family every 6 months is costly and timely prohibited, an economic flight from Australia to Peru costs about US$2,500 and takes about 1 day or 38 hours, add also the jet lag and day difference.\nIn contrast, Canada allows me to take my whole family in just 3 months, my wife can get a working visa, and if we decided to reunite in 6 o 9 month, I can go to Peru every long weekend to visit my family, a flight from Toronto to Lima is about $500 return and only 8 hours so I can go to Peru and come back to Canada in a long weeked, a luxury imposible to do if I lived in Australia. \nWhen my father passed away here in Lima, I was in Australia at university, and due to cost and time, I couldn't go to give him a farewell and to his funeral, a issue that regretted; for that reason, my mother-in-law, who needs care and being my wife, her only child, after facing my own experience, we decided that Canada and not Australia, is a better choice, if something happens with my in-law, from Canada my wife can see her quickly.\nThank you for sharing in this video

Great topic for Conversation. Please note, if you are coming to Ontario, Canada as a refugee, you can stay at a hotel for free until you get an affordable place to live, withing 6 months to 3 years. Also, if you are a resident of Quebec and is working in Ontario, please be prepared to pay additional tax on your pay stub and after you have filed your income tax. My advise Budget, Budget, Budget and live within your means. They are ways you can make and have money.

I don't think higher tax rate is a good point when you compare it to a country like Nigeria. The maximum tax rate you can pay in Nigeria is 24% and it begins from anything from 5.6 million naira per annum. After paying that tax you pay for the school fees of your children, and you pay that 3 times every year, Asides school fees you buy generator and fuel it everyday to get something close to constant power supply. (I don't want to include healthcare because if you have a good HMO they will sort out that perfectly well)\nSome of us still pay security due if you live in an estate. \n\nThe point I am trying to make is that if your tax rate is high let's say to up to 50% and you are sure of the quality of education your children is getting in public schools so you don't have to pay for school fees, You don't have to buy generator and fuel it because there's constant electricity supply and there's good security so you don't have to pay for private security. You might realized that tax rate in Canada is effectively cheaper than here in Nigeria. Because you will still pay for school fees, generator and maintenance and private security and all these have a way of eating deep into your income.

I did work with a man from India who used to go home every 3 years or so to visit his family.\nAll they wanted to know had nothing to do with life in Canada, or the people, or how clean and safe it is or if it is boring.\nThey wanted to know one thing and one thing only.\nYes you got it...\nThe guy was getting of the plane, getting down the stairs and his family was waiting at the bottom yelling: 'HOW MUCH MONEY ARE YOU BRINGING???????'

I'm a lawyer who worked for a firm in NYC for 3 years. I got my PR and moved to Canada. I moved back home after hundreds of applications to law firms for a legal assistant position and being unable to get a job at even Walmart.

My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! We applied for PR. Got invitation for my family within 10 months. Landed in GTA in 2016. Stayed there for a one month vacation became PRs. Observed many things and spoken to many of my friends while I was there. Situation was pathetic in a nutshell. Went back to continue my job in Middle East. \nFor 3 4 years I thought about what should we do. Should we move or not. \nUltimately decided to let go the PR status & not Waste my savings on this PONZY scheme. \nStill working in Middle East and in Europe, family shifted back to India purchased a premium apartment a nice car. With our foreign savings I can easily retire in India - I'm still 39!\n\nBest decision ever!!!
