I just met a couple from Canada. They see the flaws but won't move to the US. It's also expensive to live here but you have to pay for other expenses like health care out of pocket. They don't want to live somewhere that every nut job can have guns, where schools are failing to teach basics and are not safe places for kids. I feel like many Americans will point out the splinter in the eye of other countries, and yet ignore the rafter in America's eye. People from other countries don't fear America because it has the most powerful military, they fear it because insanity continues to grow and common sense continues to die.

Its funny how Canada was this amazing pretty cool and wholesome country I thought it was while growing up. Now that I am an adult I sometimes wish the USA would’ve won the war of 1812 and not deal with a pest of a nation for centuries

We are Canadian and our entire family is dispersing to other locations in the world. Somehow (insane) realtors got it in their head =s that Toronto was like NYC, when in fact Toronto was growing w/ immegrants but was NOTHING like NYC. Those greedy nut balls raised the prices of homes 10 x over within a few years and now many Canadians are living in tents. If you want to live well, don't move to Canada. You'll live and DIE working. Period. No enjoyment.

I lived in canada for past 35 years. I am married with 3 kids. I work like a dog 60 hrs a week , i pay heavy taxes on my salary soo the government can give away hard tax payers money to people who scam the system. Examples are walfare and ontario works. I know people that get $1350 minimum on odsp and they are more than capable of working but choose to scam the sysytem collect free money and work cash jobs for less money and take away jobs from others. Hate this country now and cant wait to leave and shift else where were i can happily retire and watch my kids grow up and spend time with my family since everything in canada is soo expensive i have to work overtime and my wife also started working part time?

i am from hamilton and we are still very diverse here. yes brampton is quiet loaded with indians. i think what has failed is the requirements for immigration has dropped. i mean we use to have highly educated people come in but now the standards have dropped. so anyone with low standards can come walk in. pubjabi votes for jagmeet or trudeau and they are the group with highest crimes in india the state of punjab and there is a big drug and drinking culture that comes here. the minute our standards grow up with immigration requirements then we will get more educated bunch coming in. when we have greedy power hungry people run the country this is what happens. now people are fed up. the other day i was at freshco and some white guys started to lecture me and he openly admitted he is a racist. i pulled out my camera and started to record. he backed off but he could have done anything. he rude and stupid. i was also quiet upset. people were not like this and were more accepting. i can understand his frustration but he said openly he was racist and called me Fxxxxxxx indian etc... this is out of line. i also gave him a mouth full. i told him i have been here 35 years and his mood changed but its quiet disappointing how people react. its not safe or respectful. not sure where we are headed in canada.

Hence, the more the better, has been the guiding principle for years. any discussion of the merits of liberal immigration policy was discouraged and any questioning of an ever growing number of newcomers was portrayed as racist. bad actors in the form of unscrupulous businesses capitalized on this attitude and started importing ever larger number of temporary foreign workers which depressed wages and incomes. To the mix were added international students who came into the country in their hundreds of thousands in search of work and eventual permanent residence rather than education. critical mass was reached in 2022 and was further exacerbated in 2023. things got so completely out of control that even LPC - the champions of large scale immigration, had to implement some half-baked and half-hearted measures to stem the flow. where this will end up is anybody's guess but once the floodgates are open, they are virtually impossible to close. i am sure we will be dealing with the consequences of imprudent immigration policies for years if not decades to come.

There cannot be productivity when there are no incentives to open business ventures in a country with small population that cannot sustain a strong enough market to profit from. Ad to that a climate that demands a huge bill in energy to keep you warm and with lights on during 8 months of the year and governments (Liberal and Conservatives alike) more focused in allowing foreign products to inundate the market instead of pushing for domestic industries, and last but not least the obvious fact we must import a huge percentage of good simply because there is no way to grow stuff here unless you spend millions of dollars in greenhouse harvesting that will be destroyed by the cheaper price of the same product being imported from anywhere in the world because we want to have strawberries, avocados and kiwis in February, right???

Just bought a home today in one of the fastest growing cities in Canada… takes a well earning couple and of course can’t buy a starter home as they only make those for retired people, so had to go a lot in debt and have to do all this renovation work to rent out the basement legally or can’t afford the mortgage.. but I believe that things will change but will take time to fix it that’s for sure

A Canadian here who moved to the USA back in the 1990's. Back then, and even more so today, it was pointless with the Canadian tax structure to work hard and make higher income. So I moved to the USA, worked my ass off in a progressive tax structure and am now in a place of happiness and freedom in retirement. I visit Canada often enjoying a great exchange rate. It's heartbreaking to see everyone either work like crazy to be left with almost nothing after taxes, or my unemployed friends get almost as much after-tax on welfare who complain about how the schools, taxes and government service are going to immigration. I hope Canada can start developing an identity and work towards something more positive than simply growing the government unions.

Honestly, as a growing teen with a Canadian passport. I feel like I have no clue where to go for University. Especially being a Palestinian Canadian.

Canada hid its inflation in the housing market for a decade. The economy appeared to be growing, and real wages appeared to be staying in line with the consumer price index, but it was smoke and mirrors. If you removed real estate, GDP was stagnant. Wages were actually falling behind and people getting poorer and poorer without realising it. That’s finally become unsustainable, and inflation is showing up everywhere. And the wages are still stuck. The country is sitting on hugely valuable resources it could develop had it not put so many self-created political barriers in the way, and having indoctrinated their population about it along the way. Separately, The healthcare system is getting worse, consistently ranking 2nd last in the OECD in terms of real results delivered. The biggest problem is that the country’s economy is built on immigration to drive growth, rather than productivity, efficiency, or innovation. The more people you bring in, the more housing you need, but they’re at the point that they can’t keep up and people can hardly afford housing anyways. It’s a recipe for disaster. I left Canada by coincidence, having met someone from another country and moved there. I’m glad I left.

And people have the cheek to ask Singapore why we continue to maintain a strict race demographic of 75% Chinese, 15% Malay and 7.5% Indian since independence 58 years ago. We mainly want to preserve our culture and heritage and not upset our people and make them wake up the next day to a strange country they didn’t grow up with. ?

All state driven economies with large state workers employment that keeps growing year by year that go to vote 100% for their paycheck as others do not go to vote because everyone is corrupt etc look exactly like this. At first everything booms and shines, money are flowing for everyone as the governement starts bribing the citizens, but after a while everything goes down and the only ones that keep the wealth is the state sector which, in turns, starts to act like full time lobbyists for the corporations although paid with the general public taxes! Competitivity starts to shrink, everyone dreams at working for the state, public deficit grows year by year, the country borrows more and more money from the markets and submits to lenders and their economic views...you get to work in the private sector more for less, you are told to retire later, public services like school, medicine etc decline the better the paid state workers that do the jobs are...and add to that a general policy toward mass immigration of all nations with no checks regarding abilities or skills that gets citizenship pretty fast to add votes for the same elite that captured the state and everything becomes unbearable!

And all these newcomers require medical care, food, education and housing. This increases economic acitivity for business and social service workers. A growing economy benefits big business and the rich but not the working class. It is the working class that is being sold out. Growing up in Toronto during the mid 70-80-90's and as a child we used to have to take the Subway, to a Street car then a bus alone from Dufferin & Bloor area alone as a 10 &+ yrs old. Without worry , immigrants were primarily Asia's & Jamaicans which were peaceful, respectful. The Indians etc immigration has Increased crime rates, Toronto used to be amazing. I'm an Indian immigrant and lived in ON. I drove through Brampton once and I vowed to never go back there again. But you see this is a vicious consequence of declining birth rates in Canada. Christianity is trampled upon along with its values and principles and this is one of the results. The first thing I asked the day I landed was where were all the Canadians? Have they left the planet? \n\nA country needs people and once a certain ethnic population grows in strength and in numbers the landscape is sure to change. Besides, Canada does not demand immigrants assimilate into the culture, instead it's vice versa and it's disappointing. And when you give up Christianity, what do you expect immigrants to embrace? When you have a country that has 1.5% rental vacancy rate, and only 150,000 houses are built in a year, and then you bring in 1.4 million new immigrants and foreign students/temporary workers, you end up with 500,000 or more homeless people each year. If they bring in another million people, the homeless population will simply grow by another million people as there is nowhere for people to rent and no new homes available to buy.
