Commuting on the bus this morning we were cut off aggressively in a single lane no pass zone by a V6 (should be v8) Dodge Charger. Narrowly missing the oncoming car which would have caused a major wreck which would have included the bus. Can you guess who was driving? Hint: The windows were blacked out, exhausts cut off and the man driving was old enough to know better. Behavior like that in your 20s is excusable, in your late 30s to 40s not so much. I understand this is an economics channel, but saying that NO ONE wants to live in Canada because of 3 issues with the economy that most developed countries in the world are dealing w/ is kinda stupid (It's almost like most of the world is in a recession.?) A lot of this data is straight-up wrong or twisted in a way as to be really misleading. The whole video is just full of inconsistencies and is overall extremely critical of Canada to the point of making it sound like a terrible place to live. You could probably find 3 random issues with every single country in the world to make a video about, there's nothing about Canada that makes it as bad as he seems to be trying to make it out to be.

And now you got a 66% capital gains tax for everything you make above 250K a year. Which for Canada's economy it's like shooting every single small business in the balls.

A lot of this video is directly aimed at Trudeau's leadership, but this is completely forgetting the role of the provincial and municipal governments. They play a major role in building housing and planning cities, and yet basically all of this video is taking potshots at Trudeau. That's not to say Trudeau is free of criticism, but I would've liked a little more nuance there. Especially when people are so polarized at the federal level, the journalistic duty is incredibly important here. Personally, I don't think Trudeau can solve this, but I don't think any single politician can. Especially Pollievre who's got next to no credible plan to tackle the affordability crisis. It's really getting ridiculous - I'm making 6 figures, and was living comfortably until 2018. Now I have to pinch every single penny. One thing that changed is I had my first-born. What no one talks about is that the Land transfer tax is charged every single time a house is sold regardless of how many times the same house is sold in a year or 10 year, it is charged every single time. Long delays for approvals from cities, Hefty city fees are also adds on which are pass on to consumers. Forign investment is also an issue. it's the biggest dump I ever had misfortune to live in. Unlike Europe, the cities are block-like, ugly, grey, and polluted. There's homeless , drugged up zombies everywhere. I have to say that I am quite apalled to hear fellow Canadians being so openly racist--not to mention just plain ignorant. For any non-Canadians watching, let me assure you that the majority of us do not embrace or abide by these sentiments--we are for the most part a progressive, tolerant people who accept and, in many cases, welcome diversity and inclusion. We are, after all, a nation of immigrants--many of whom have escaped the oppression, injustice and intolerance that plague much of the undeveloped world--in pursuit of a better life. They bring their skills, hard work ethic and adaptability to a country that would wither on the vine without them. So, it's essential that we maintain meaningful and robust annual immigration rates to avoid the fates of countries like Japan, Italy, and South Korea: shrinking nations facing hopeless futures of economic decline and demographic collapse. We also need to maintain our pace with the behemoth to the south, or risk being utterly consumed by it. I hope and pray that most Canadians understand these basic truths--especially the younger ones. \n\nNow, I will admit that with regards to immigration and demographics there are always some logistical and pragmatic challenges that are part of any democratic, pluralistic society--of which we are, generally, a leader. And, sure, our government policies on immigration, employment, education, mental health, and housing need to be fine tuned to improve short and long term outcomes. But to place all of the blame on a single demographic slice of our overall makeup is simplistic, reductivist, dangerous and downright offensive. In a word, it is racist, pure and simple. Is that really who we are, and what we want to be? I hope not.

Is it racist to say that if you want to live with your own ethnicity, move to a place where your preferred ethnicity lives in. If people want to live in places where there are more Europeans or anything else, move to cities that has more Europeans or anything else. In reality, it is easier to move an individual than to move a group of people. The whole world doesn't evolve around a single individual. Everyone has the freedom to chose to live wherever they want.

I can see immigrants causing a housing problem, and maybe taking their jobs. The fact that these immigrants are attending school, getting diplomas, and doing as well as you say, tells me that the locals are NOT taking advantage of the available opportunities. I imagine they must contribute something to the local economy. It's easy to blame immigrants for your problems, but you have to consider multiple factors before you can do so. I didn't see a single homeless immigrant.

Having Pakistani, Indian, Punjabi, Sikh, Hindu categories is so weird. Punjab is in India and Pakistan, sikhs and Hindus can be found in both countries too. They could just have India and Pakistan as separate categories or a single category to avoid the confusion.

I was raised in Guelph ON, and I loved my childhood in Canada. My friends were white, Sikhs, Bosniaks and Vietnamese, I loved how diverse and welcoming Canada was. At 12 my mother had to stay in the hospital, quick admission, everything free, great doctors and free meds after. That is the Canada I remember.\nAt 16 we moved to NY, life was harder at first. I joined the US Navy to get ahead in education and move away from NY. As time went on I made a good life for myself, married and got a nice condo. My mother got married and made a good life for herself too. \nNow 22 years later, every single one of my friends from high school moved to the US 'cause they could, not one person said they wanted to live in Canada. I still consider myself a Canadian with the Canadian values *I* was raised with, but the Canada of my youth is gone it seems. Honestly make me sad.

You facts are way off to the point of being misleading. Then average cost of a home in the GTA is $1.2 million and by law you need a 20-25% down payment. Even if you're lucky to get that $800k home you need a 15% down payment of 15% so that's $120k! Incomes here suck you need over $250k to qualify for a mortgage...who earns that? My circle is lawyers, entrepreneurs, engineers and only 2 income professionals can get that. Over the last 10 years Canada has become very anti families and anti heterosexual so most people are single. It's also become super anti social. I've lived and traveled all over and everyone I know is making plans to go back to their home countries, countries of parentage or the US or Mexico. As a immigrant who recently got Canadian citizenship, I would like to clear few things here. I noticed that the host of the show has some wrong perception in his mind for international students. I agree that the basic jobs should be allocated to the young population or elderly population and international student should sustain themselves, but on the other hand why don't' the colleges charge the same fees that they charge to domestic applicants ?...the international students pays 5X to 10X the fees that the local student pays for the same courses. Also, when the student applies for visa they already pay 20000K to a Canadian bank for the future monthly payments that they will get so sustaining is not a problem. most of these students work so that they can contribute to the 5X fees that they have to pay. Also, when it comes to skill, the students skills are assessed by the universities and colleges and only after that they come to Canada. If you see an immigrant working in Tim Hortons or Food basics, don't worry he will be out of there in 2 years to a high paying skillful job that local population won't do. Now, when I say all this the immigration problem is real, but it is not because of the student who comes here, pays higher fees and than work in Canada, pay higher taxes and contribute to GDP and economy. your problem is with refugees and immigrants who are brought in mass immigration, who does not have skills. Because this is the population which you brought with to match the labor shortage but can not work so you provide them subsidies, assistance etc. and dig a hole in government funds...…now for the host he seems to have an agenda against Indian immigrants in particularly. I don't mind that though we are used to it. The Carbon Tax on gas in Canada TOOOOTALLY makes sense, but ONLY when we have viable alternatives for driving across all driving distances at all times. Which we do not. New transit projects are always faced with pushback and slowdowns from within the government itself even, and our zoning laws make it so we can only have single family detached homes which sprawls everything so far out that driving is the ONLY realistic transit method. \n\nThis carbon tax does nothing, the reason you implement one on gas is to persuade people into taking an alternative transportation method if you can, OR to source funding for transit programs so that people can ACTUALLY HAVE the option of an alternative. But in Canada? You already know that money is only going to go into maintaining and adding lanes to roadways.

I live in Toronto and i lost two jobs to massive Indian immigration and probably counting, because they r desperate n willing to work themselves to the bone for pennies ... u cant compete with that\n\nas i got phased out, every single one of my co workers became indian, as i roam the streets, all i see r indians riding around on ebikes doing delivery, even in china town a lot of the general populace appears to be indian\n\nim unable to find a decent job because everything is flooded with applications\n\nvery important to note that however hard it is to accept, we cannot blame the actual immigrants ... the government/authorities r letting them in, they need to have much stricter control\n\nnever in my wildest dreams have i ever needed to even consider leaving canada, but at this rate this is what it is coming down to ... i dont want to live in a third world country in the west tyvm

Canadians have this nonsensical idea that their government is not corrupt, I come from a very corrupt country and very quickly realized that they dupe them with the false idea of free healthcare and education…while they pay shit in almost all jobs and they have the highest level of monopolies in the world, Canada’s is governed by very few people that pretty much dictate everything that is why food, housing and every single thing is so expensive compared to other parts of the world….icbc should not exist, Telus, and all phone companies, trans link, loblaw is all a joke and they’re all corrupt
