Instead of targeting hardworking individuals, why not direct our efforts towards challenging the government? Creating YouTube videos is accessible to many, but effecting real change requires substantial effort and perseverance, which is often overlooked. Holding a microphone and producing more videos won’t enact meaningful change.

I grew up in Windsor, across from Detroit. It’s entirely different city every 10 years now. The only people actually staying here have it rough, most pass through. Housing is insane, over population is insane, never owning a house is incredibly depressing. But what I miss most is the simple traditions. Like men actually being men, holding doors, saying hello to those you don’t want to. Being gentleman like always, showing respect, giving up seats for older women & children. Walking on the roadside & keeping family safe inside (simple traditional stuff) it’s all gone..

My wife and I are able to save a bit of money for unforeseen expenses. Just when I started to feel settled and thought that things were going quite well, I encountered numerous videos claiming the opposite, particularly highlighting the scarcity of affordable housing. \n \nDespite the prevalence of such content, my personal experience differs. I pay $725 for housing with a salary of $2.3K, which I find to be a reasonable balance. Some might say I was fortunate, but affordable housing ranging from $800 to $1000 is readily available in Winnipeg, and this is just one city's example; there are many other cities across Canada. \nFrom my perspective, the issue of housing affordability is overstated and not solely attributable to the country's policies. Such scenarios can occur in any nation if half the population desires to reside within 4% of its land area (namely, Toronto and its vicinity), leading inevitably to soaring prices – that's simply economics. \n \nIt's not my place to dictate how Canadians should live, but it appears to me that the crux of the problem lies in the uneven distribution of the population. As the second-largest country globally, Canada can comfortably accommodate 40 million people or even significantly more. However, this necessitates a collective understanding that concentrating the population in a single city may not be the most prudent approach.

Until we stop fighting amongst ourselves and start holding politicians and governments accountable, which is not likely, we’re screwed.

I guess that guy asked extra fees, tips for issuing a visa to people, just like what those people always do in third world countries such as India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Africa. The dude complaining about the volunteers for social services work getting paid is redic. This is work and to maintain it getting done consistently and as often as needed you need to pay peers or employees for their time and work. Yes some people will hold to volunteer work, I do volunteer work myself. But if you're volunteering you're more likely to call out for silly reasons or not work as hard and then you end up short staffed and people not getting the help they need. I have worked in these encampments, got paid, but provided the camps with harm reduction supplies, food & water, and toiletries as well as helping people call Central Intake and references to medical support. That is still work, I would usually walk about 10km a day with a heavy bag on my back and I'm poor disabled person myself. \n\nAs well as addressing unhoused folks using substances, would you want to go to detox while not having a home? It feels absolutely horrible and getting sober when you don't have a bed to shower in, a toilet to use, a shower to clean yourself up in, is really f*cking hard. A lot of people start using substances like meth to help them survive as well, needing it to stay up at night so you don't get attacked at night sleeping. Don't shame substance use, but especially substance use with the unhoused.

We are baptist and very very few churches preach the same things we preach here.. so can understand how you feel.
