I’d move to a blue state, but I won’t even visit a MAGA Red State even as a tourist.

A sizeable number of Canadians do move to the US. The climate is better and in some fields the pay is better in the US than Canada. In most other ways, Canada is better; often by a considerable margin. The US has a lot to offer but no, I wouldn't move to the US; even if they doubled my salary. I'm content to just visit. I do go to the US more than any other country though. I've been there 7 times.

As a Canadian he’ll no I would never move to the USA crazy politics god help us all of any of those crazies are elected in the next election you’re country will become a fascist country no decent health care I wish Americans would stop saying that the health care system is restricted and we can’t go to certain doctors and we let the elderly die bullshit yes our health care system isn’t perfect but we don’t pay a penny to see a doctor and if we have any surgeries or long stays in the hospital does not send us a bill for anything gun violence in the states is very crazy and sadly since that evil despicable trump brought out visible racism Canada is not perfect but I’m a proud Canadian I won’t even go to the states on vacation way to many crazies to all the decent Americans this does not reflect on you

I am scandinavian and I would NEVER move to the US, Canada though is one of my favourites if I were to move somewhere else. I agree with the Canadians on reddit on every point. My tip would be - visit Canada and experience yourself why this is the case. You can always make a new home for yourself in Canada, and have an even better life there. With all that you now have learnt about Canada, you're halfway there. Just visit, and see the US/Canada from another point of view. north of the border. Hope you do someday, why miss out on this fantastic country, people and culture anymore?!! Good luck! ???

Move to the US? I'm not even willing to visit. I don't go places where corpses have more right to bodily autonomy than I do!

My uncle moved to Texas when he married my Texan aunt, but I’m fairly certain that’s only because she has a medical condition that means she physically cannot endure the temperatures we get here in Canada in the winter months. She would have quite literally been housebound for a third of the year every year if she came up here.\n\nEdit: Also, Canada may have a smaller population than the US, but we actually have the second-largest total land mass out of all the countries in the world. Russia is the only country with more land.\n\nEdit 2: In 2022, there were a total of 51 school shootings. That’s more than 4 school shootings *per month.* Of course we don’t trust the USA to be a safe place for children. Especially since even if you survive the shooting, there’s a good chance you’ll be bankrupted by injury.

Tyler, with complete respect you DON'T get why we generally have no interest in moving to the US. You constantly talk about 'you just have to find the right place to live'. True of anywhere, but here the choice would be about preferences and afordability, NOT to avoid gun violence or shunning because of political views.\nThere is no where in Canada I could move to where gun violence would be a big factor to consider (we have rough places, and gun violence, but STRICT gun laws). Let me give you some perspective. In 2019 the USA had 37,038 gun related deaths. (No other causes of death- JUST all gun death). In Canada, in 2019, our death by illegal means (which does include suicide, as it is illegal) was 5,874. (That is for ALL types of homicide, not just guns). And the government was shocked by the increase that year and tightened gun restrictions further.\nYou talk about having certain States more Red or Blue. We aren't bi- partisan, so our politics are a melting pot. You might have people you disagree with everywhere you go, but you will also always find an equal group who thinks similar (unless your an extremist). And even the people who think different will generally agree to dis- agree. There is next to nowhere in Canada where your political views would get you run out of town. \n\nYou are USED to thinking like an American. (Fair, your American; I think like a Canadian) Trust me, as a Canadian, there are aspects of the accepted American culture (your country's way of life) that is boarderline terrifying to people here.

The year isnt done yet.\n\nMy sister moved and lived 6yrs in Texas. 1st wk into her new life there... shootout/lockdown in a Walmart. That was the first/closest time our familly was as close to a handgun (except my father - RCAF veteran).\n\nShe moved back during C-19 in 2021. Lamenting the lack of choices of cracker flavours in Canada. But no longer worried about her HC Insurance. Still complains we only havr 4 flavours of Poptarts.\n\nMy father lived in the US for work and moved for a while. I was glad we moved back to Canada. (I was 10)\n\n Even as a kid, I felt unsafe there. When we came back. There was a wierd relief, that I didnt know how to explain to my Mom & Dad.\n\n Today as an adult. I know my subconscious was always telling me somesort of truth.\n\nIn Canada, its much safer. Definitely.

Don't take any of this to heart... remember that in Canada our Nightly News includes the US and the rest of the world ... good and bad .As a kid we travelled the States for 30 days every summer. We never encountered any problems except for racism. I remember we went to Wendy's for lunch we never had one in Canada back then. The manager walked up to the young kid cleaning the window and said nigger do better. We were all horrified and my dad looked at us three girls and said keep your mouth shut don't say anything. Despite that experience the States has so much to offer even today. Now as an adult my concern would be Healthcare and violence. I cannot comprehend people bearing arms at a McDonald's or Walmart or Target. I would still move to the US but be very picky about where. I live 2 minutes from the US border, visited many times. Move there is a big no. Even though my town is right next to our US counterpart, the differences in culture are immense. Even if their gas, milk and living is cheaper, it is not worth it.

I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

Glad you mentioned racism: Canada is a ewhite nation because it destroyed the original indigenous population and i am amongst those that believes its far too late to change now. We nearly succeeded. Starting to protect other colours now and accept immigrants of other colors is a mistake. Would not ever move there. Don’t even know when I would visit there again. Maybe I’d like to go (very many great places & things to do, lots of interesting history) but I don’t really want to take a chance with all the problems there. Probably won’t be going. Not to mention the insanity that has taken hold with so many ppl- crazy crazy times - I don’t even want to say I’m Canadian down there anymore because we get such ridiculous comments. I don't think so Tim!!! LMAO My Ex moved to Texas and broke her hip. Even though she had it replace right away. It cost her 80 grand, even though I told her to get insurance. She didn't. She came back to Canada and claimed bankruptcy. We have a lot of gun crime .... but they are used by 99/99 percent of criminals!!! i’m canadian and i would never move to the states, my dad often says he won’t even visit again. the school shooting concern? maybe it’s just our news media but that’s literally the only time we hear of elementary schools at all in the states, and it often happens in places we’ve never heard of before, aka small town usa, so: it can literally happen anywhere in the states to me. for more gun violence here’s a story, i recently had a coworker go down the west coast usa with their family and almost immediately walk into a mall shooting, it really happens so much down there that it didn’t even make the news up here. i work in a mall and i’m never afraid for my life. i’m not being naive, we have guns here, and i work next to a passport photo counter and i see how many people in my town apply for PAL (possession and acquisition license) and it’s more than i would think and still i feel safe

I am French Canadian and I would move to the USA if I was allowed to move there. For the weather and for the Americain mentality in general, being more free thinking. I don't really care about the canadian healthcare either because it's so low quality that I have been paying for private care most of my life anyways even though I live on a very small income. I am from Brazil, moved to Canada 9 years ago, now I am Canadian citizen. I was once asked by a American colleague why did I not immigrated to the USA, the answer is: it was not even in the list of possible countries. In fact it is on my top list of places not to move to. \n\nYou have a good insurance through your job? That only means you have one more reason to fear losing it or stay on a particularly bad one if you don’t have anything lined up, if you have a chronic health condition, then you are straight out hostage to your employer. Even if you do have good insurance your bills may one day go beyond the maximum and you still risk bankruptcy. \n\nIf you do go bankrupt, in any civilized country you can’t go to jail for debt, in the USA you can, the country with the highest incarcerated population in the world in absolute numbers and relative too. To add salt to the injury it is a country that did not completely make slave work illegal, it is still legal if you are not a free citizen and your prison system exploit that.\n\nSo it is a country that you can become slave because you got sick.\n\nThen there are the guns… the fact you think you are exempt of school shootings says it all, if you live in a small city it would not affect you? Are you really saying mass shootings never occur in small cities?! Would I move to the U.S? No... but I can't imagine myself living anywhere else in the world either. So it's not just the U S. I don't even have a passport... so I don't even vacation outside Canada.

If I was rich like many Canadians are that moved there. As a regular guy the health care and social benefits out way and problems with winter. Even if I didn,t work for some reason all those things remain. Plus you would start at the back of the line in Canada I continue with my personal support in friends and family. Canadians who say that they'd never move to the USA fall into these groups:\n\nA) Ignorant: People who get their news about the USA from the CBC or any of the other MSM FAKE NEWS outlets.\n\nB) Leftists/Liberals: People who would only ever move to Leftist/Liberal havens, such as New York, California or Washington; and they're aware of how those states are extremely dangerous, with violent crime on the rise, extremely high taxes and fascist governments that make Trudeau look good.\n\nC) The Elderly: Unfortunately, most elderly people in Canada are on a fixed income; and the meager healthcare they're allowed to receive is still far better than anything they can afford in the USA.\n\nI'd consider moving to a number of states in the USA. Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

You're proud of your country. \n\nAs a Canadian, I always felt the difference in basic attitudes between our countries may stem from our history of gaining national independence.\n\nYou all fought tooth and nail and are still immensely proud of that accomplishment. \n\nWe negotiated over time. It stands to reason our society would develop into one more invested in peace and negotiation, and even a deeper sense of social responsibility to our fellow citizens' welfare.\n\nI know of many different reasons why I love your country, enjoy visiting, and am glad we are neighbours. I checked out of curiosity and there are only 6 states that have NOT had a mass shooting in 2023. There have been 383 mass. shooting. Maine, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota. It's a big enough issue that there is an interactive map showing mass shooting. \n\nThat is enough of a reason to not move there. Plus you have Trump and I'd like to not even be on the same continent as that guy. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in north america. Maybe we should build a wall ? just kidding.

As an American who has lived in Canada a very long time, I would never ever even think about moving back.

I don't most folks from other western democracies want to move to the USA now. Mass shootings (even at schools), Unregulated news media with leads to half their population believing lies, women's gay rights are being stripped by a corrupt Supreme court that has more power than the King.

It's weird, I've never even thought of it before...hhmmm. I don't think I could afford to move there either. To visit, yeah, there are a lot of places down south I'd like to see. I'm kinda worried about the heat in some States though. lol

I'm a surgeon in Canada, and even though there are more jobs and I could make potentially twice as much in the usa I would never move there. I would never be able to refuse someone surgery or bankrupt them because they had no insurance. I also don't like the 'cover your ass' style of medicine that most doctors in the USA have to practice because of how often lawsuits happen.

Love your videos, and I think you may be desensitized to a lot more than just the gun violence.\nThe US seems to be playing boil the frog with their people, and unfortunately, it appears to be working.\nI don't even like to visit the US. I can not imagine the circumstances that would have to be in play to get me to move there. I'd probably choose it over Russia, but it is far from the top or even the middle of my list. I’m a duel citizen but I was born and raised in Canada and I would say I have more of a Canadian mindset. There are many things that I like about the States even though I wouldn’t move there. A lot of Canadians like to go shopping and for vacation. I hope to one day explore the North West coast of the States. I know there is a lot of awesome nature. This year however I plan on exploring more of Canada as I haven’t seen as much of my own home. \n\nTyler, I hope you will be able to come and visit Canada. It’s a hidden gem and the exchange rate is pretty good for Americans. I think that would be a really cool video. ?

I wouldn’t move to the US and the medical is only the second reason my number one reason is your lack of freedom. For instance I have always had cats, at this moment I have three cats who are my pride and joy, two of them even go out for walks with me in a pet stroller and even came with me yesterday to the Scottish festival in my neighbourhood and the problem with moving to the US is Landlords can tell you that you have to get rid of your pets were here in Canada, in my part of Canada anyway it is going against your rights to tell you you can’t have your pet and there is no way in hell I would get rid of my cats they are my family and my only family so because of that I would not move to the United States

The US is the LAST place I’d move to. It’s a dumpster fire. I won’t even travel there. Never used to be this way.\n\nTo avoid most ills you have to be male, white, rich and straight AND live in the middle of nowhere…off the grid.

I know a lot of Canadians that moved to the US because:\n- lower cost of living \n- warmer weather\n- better business opportunities or access into industries such as athletics, music and film\n\nAs a Canadian female living in Toronto, this is why I wouldnt move to the US\n\n1. Safety \n\n2. Racism\n\n3. Women's reproductive rights\n\n4. Health care costs\n\n5. Natural disasters- too many areas with things like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Even snow, there are areas in the states like Michigan and Minnesota that get worse snow than we do here in Toronto being situated along lake Ontario \n\n6. Lower costs for college/university in Canada

Tyler the point is not to move to a small town away from gun violence, the point is even one school shooting is horrific and you as citizens should all be changing the gun laws.

At one point (before that last pres. you had down there) I would consider visiting the US for a vacation. I won't even do that now - never mind moving there. And I think what has happened with so many in the US is that they've become habituated to the presence of guns. That's not a thing in most other cultures and countries, unless they are at war.

I wouldn't even think about moving to the US .. The US is so far behind other countries in so many different ways ...

My mom and brother are in Canada. I'm trying to move her to Texas with me. I make great money in Real Estate and IT. She doesn't want to leave Toronto, even though she can't afford it. I travel back and forth to drop money for her. All though she doesn't ask me, I know it helps. We're all from Jamaica and unfortunately I was separated from her for 30 years. I'm glad, I'm in a position to take care of her. If I can only convince her to leave Canada for good. My little brother wants to come to America with me.

Listen... I'm all for helping out fellow human beings but it seems this person was blocking her way which you can see, and she explains that this isn't the first time he's done that! The fact he spoke to her in Indian just shows he is not culturally appropriated to our language or even laws for that matter! Never mind the fact he has packed up and moved his kids and wife assuming! We as long term citizens of our country need to tell our governments we need to focus on our own issues and not just let all these people in! Plus I looked up how much it was to study in India and let me say - it's a whole lot cheaper than it is in Canada, USA or Brittain as far as I'm concerned THEY are receiving money from outside sources to Spy and send info to others covertly! And this is why you liberals need to go educate yourselves. Do not take guns away from citizens, otherwise the government will overthrow everything like Venezuela, China, Cuba, and North Korea. I'm from Brazil and my country has gone to fuck. I moved to the US in 2015 and was one of the few lucky ones to come in and stay legally. I work hard, I see development, infrastructure, support my community and even help those I can. But the biggest thing is that if I one day see people try to break into my house, I don't care what the story is, my family will be protected, and the other side will come back to his family in a coffin, play and simple.

Forget parents, even many immigrants are unhappy in Canada. Every time I run into an Indian who has studied or lived in US he is frustrated. 2 people in my team received their Canadian citizenship and have started trying for positions in US. 3 white Canadians in our company moved to US in last 2 year itself.\nCanada is not a great country from parents. It's cold, white and depressing throughout. Many parents can stay for relatively longer in California or Texas where there is vibrant community and weather is very much like India. I lived for 10 years of life in snow before moving to Canada - Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia. I just 2 winters, I feel depressed in Canada as it's white for 4 to 5 months.

Dear Americans, you can thank the CIA and other black organizations that control and racketeer the cartels for this. The CIA took over jobs from Pablo Escobar and created and organized the cartels. When they realized in the early 70's that the drug business was very lucrative and that Ustistan would never be able to to stop the huge number of people who use drugs in the USA, they decided to take over the job and move it to neighboring Mexico. Keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer.

One of things that I learnt 33 years ago when I moved to USA was not to convert the money because you won’t be able to eat. I sponsored my mother almost 20 years ago and she didn’t enjoy living here because of her life and friends back home. It was very difficult to move here especially when you are in your fifties and especially if you aren’t working. One of the things that aunties are exaggerating is about the cost of the restaurant, I have never eaten in a restaurant that cost $400 for 4 people, even some of the best steak restaurants don’t cost that much. Final thing when they compare the Malls of Canada with India with limited supplies actually the malls here carry sizes that are not even available anywhere in the World. I do respect their views.

First, I want to thank you for making this video. The health of a country, or the health of an individual which are clearly linked, is dependent on our ability to see ourselves and each other, and make necessary changes to improve in the areas that we lack personally, and as communities in our beautiful country of Canada and other countries as well. What matters is sharing our own thoughts, feelings, and experiences because they aren’t debatable. \n\nWe are in violation of Multiple Human Rights violations against Inuit , Indigenous and Métis people by the United Nations. Most have no water to drink—not even boiled water and bottled water is available sometimes when it’s brought to reservations . Children don’t have the same access to books. So many thousands of bodies of children taken to residential schools from their parents arms and community for over 160 years yet the deep wounds aren’t given compassion by most people anymore and systemic abuse actively impacts them and therefore all of Us . We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. The numbers are growing. \nI live in Care due to my physical disabilities . An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. All children deserve healthy drinking Water and an education. Period. Especially, the ambassadors of this amazing land that they see as themselves without separation. That’s accurate. We will have nothing to stand upon if we don’t protect the earth. It will go on without us. \n\nI see many things in the comments I’ve seen or experienced, unfortunately. This is a beautiful country for so many reasons. Ok, umm is snow white? Is water wet? What did you think you was going to encounter by going to a predominately white area? It's like me complaining about racism after moving to a Klan town in Alabama? You should have done your research before moving there. Sorry, not everywhere is happy to accept black people in the world. Even you as an American should know that. Why would you go there? Who the heck told you to go to Edmonton???

Sorry, blacks are discriminated every where in the world, even un African between blacks and blacks which becomes tribalisme or nationalisim.. i face discrimination at work from time to time but it does not stop me from moving forward, i just learn to chose places or people whom are good to me period..?
