Canada and Mexico now joins Columbia, Venezuela, and Panama for countries bending the knee to Trump's demands. I've been to the states many times! My opinion is that Americans focus on wallets more than social issues! Americans care more about their own circumstances than working together to help the whole of the population. No one likes to pay more taxes but they are a nessesary evil to be able to pay for health care, public security, and so on! So sure Americans don't pay as much for some things but pay more for things that they shouldn't pay! Health care is something that is very important, how can you be expected to pay for health services if you can't work cause you're ill, doesn't make any sence! Even Americans leave thier country because of what it's becoming! 50- 100 years ago everyone wanted to immigrate to America or Canada, now a days everyone is immigrating here to Canada. Should I have to explain why! It's sad but the U.S.A isn't what it used to be. Mostly because of corporate greed and the influence it has on the gouvernment! Just look at how Trump is running things. A country isn't a bussiness, it's a people, without the people a country is nothing. Too bad Trump and his billionaire butt licking friends can't see that!

Compare how many mass shootings you had in the U.S. compared to Canada. Also, we are allowed to own weapons if you want (particularly for hunting). But we do not make a big deal about, nor are we paranoid to the point we need to openly carry one Up here, it is mostly police and Brinks guards that open carry because it is part of the job.

I dont think Canadians understand that 3 of our states have bigger economies alone than Canada does. This will end very bad for Canada the longer it goes. I'm just speculating, but obviously Trump's stated reasons for the tariffs against Canada don't reflect his real strategy. He wants to exert maximum pain and pressure on the current liberal government in Canada so that its more likely a conservative like Poilievre will get elected. Then, he'll end the tariffs handing him a victory and thus solidifying a conservative influence. Maybe. In any case, he wants more influence over Canada and its unnerving to watch.

I am a Canadian in Alberta and the reality is that the Liberals have weakened the Canadian economy and our standing in the world. Their decision to cripple our oil and gas industry and our lack of ability export our products elsewhere in the world is an issue created by the policies of the Liberals. To impose a carbon tax and further weaker the average Canadian is terrible. There are some policies I don't like out of the U.S. but the reality is that it is never an idea to pick a fight with the toughest kid on the block knowing you will lose. Trump doesn't even want the tariffs he wants Canada to pull it's weight in defense spending and cooperation. Trudeau backstabbed Trump in the past and that won't be forgotten. We need a new government with a leader that understands more than being a drama teacher and snowboarder. We didn't have anywhere close this level of issues with the Harper government. We are lucky to have the U.S. as a neighbor so let's do what is good for both nations but there is no way the woke Liberal's can do it.

Canada and the US used to share a warm relationship. Living close to Canada, our girls hockey teams frequently play the Canadian girls. Over the past 5+ years, the behavior of the Canadian girls changed from competitive, but decent, to vicious, laced with insults and injury. We no longer want to play them because you can predict a concussion suffered every fifth game or so. Canada and Mexico’s 25% does not actually equal US’s 25%. Canada and Mexico are consumers more than producers. They are both addicted to American investments and products and the US wants to bring jobs back to the US.

This was the correct decision because the US wants bring jobs back to the USA. Jobs in Mexico vs USA trump will choose jobs in the US; Politely subsidized lumber from Canada vs lumber from the USA easy decision; Dairy from Oh' Canada , a short term squeeze.
