There's a job shortage not a labour shortage.There are millions of unemployed and under employed people that would love to fill high paying jobs and trades but can't due to bureucratic barriers.Ask the doctor driving a cab in toronto or the lady with a masters degree who makes your latte.Companies should train people not pawn that off to the college's.The myth is these low to no slilled immigrants are supposed to generate wealth for Canada yeah? It's been 54 years of imposed mass migration where's the pay off? If they could why didn't they do it back in their own country? Not gonna lie. But Canadian teenagers feel entitled . They don’t want to work which is a shame. That might be a problem with the parents. But a good portion of 20-35 year old living with there parents are white Canadians. Let me be clear before you all slam me. But it is fucking true. I've got a Canadian PR and went to see the country in October. As IT professional I find it hard to get a job, earnings- expenses ratio is not really favorable. So I stay in Armenia and work for Russian companies. The climate overall sucks. Its not cold. Its ridiculously cold.\n\nMy advice: Be made of money. \nSeriously though, have a huge savings and have a long term financial plan. Getting jobs that pay a living wage here as newcomers here are HARD to get because they always want Canadian work experience. University education from other countries other than the US, UK, or Australia don't count here. Many Indian home owners give them rents at much lower price than the market rate which goes up to 1400 dollars a month but since they are Indians and new to Canada they give them for 1000 dollars a month. If students 3 people live in that, if families 2 people. Indian home owners do that for food cooking smells and other reasons. I see some new immigrants both working couple make up to 90k per year but still live in basement apartments for more than 3 years to save money. I have lived in UK, Australia, US and Canada. I spent 2 years in UK, 1 year in Australia then moved to US for my masters where I also worked for 6 years. So total of 8 years in US, I moved to India and had adjustment issues. Then 1.5 year later I moved to Canada as permanent resident. After 2 years, I ended up leaving Canada back to India. Some people suggested wait for another 13 months and return with Canadian citizenship but I had enough. What I have realized is, for tech/scientific roles, Canada or other countries are no match for the US. \nAlso, Americans are much kinder and open than people in Canada/UK/Australia. All these countries are expensive, quality of work and pay is not good. I was getting 150K CAD in Canada, where I pay 2100 CAD as 1 BHK rent. In India, I make 90K CAD and 2 BHK rent is 400 CAD. To me, America has no replacement, that's why people dont want to leave the US. I was not willing to spend whole life waiting for green card, and other countries are no match for US. That's why came back to India fro second time, despite the issues here.

I left Canada 3 years after I got the citizenship, because the cost of living was unbearable. I was living in 1 bedroom condo in Vancouver (Canada), with no cars or investment. In 2020 I found an entry lvl job at Amazon Seattle (US). My pay doubled, tax reduced by 50%. Sold my Canada condo, and bought a single family home and a car in Seattle. I was just forced by my husband to come here in 2010. I never plan to live abroad but I went for the sake of the kids and dont want regret. My husband is mentally ill even before we got married(family took advantage of me when they saw I was an independent widow that time). Upon arriving here, nothing was prepared,no beds no nothing just the social housing and he was already orienting me to get food from food bank and simply convinced me to follow here for the child benefits,free education and healthcare. Let me just mention, the family of my husband is claiming they were rich and prominent in the Philippines. Fast forward....14 years after, he didnt get a house for us....I just ran after him for child support....he didnt finish the divorce process that I ask him to do upon arrival....now, that its time for him to pay tution fee for college, he is mad! I worked in the mines of Northern Ontario have had two wives and six children payed high child support and spousal support. But just before I was ready to retire I had no more responsibilities and I got to keep my pension. I brought a house twenty years ago in Newfoundland where I am from and put it in my Mother's name. I am now retired with a payed for home which I heat with a wood cook stove, electric base boards but never need them and have solar panels and wind turbines but I am still hooked up to the grid but my bill is 40 dollars.I don't have internet or Netflix only a cell phone with a 100 gigabytes download.I run my tv off solar power that charges golf cart batteries also have a generator to charge the battery bank .I download off of YouTube and other places to a 1 terabyte hard drive that run thru my laptop and have that backuped . I have a ham radio. 250 gallon water tank just in case the village I live in the water goes out. I have a water flush toilet and a compost toilet. My property has apple trees and very productive raised beds to grow food, I also fish and hunt small game but I buy beef and pork that is free range and grass fed from a local butcher. There are many ATV trails around here, we have a gas station and small grocery store which I try to buy as much as possible from to support local employment. I have a side by side ATV with a nice back box , insurance and gas cost nothing. I used to have a truck but got rid of it because I didn't need it to get around plus I enjoy the ride in the side by side. The only draw back is to many people drink and drive around here and young people on drugs who steal.. I have pension and benefits and traveled for five years before I came back here. I get restless for excitement but remember it's a time to be quiet. Don't crave others company and I am pretty healthy, the only stress I have is to figure out what I am going to do that day. Yes I have to work to get wood and grow food but I could sit on my ass all day if I felt like it but you got to keep yourself in shape. I watch a lot documentaries and read e books but have my favorite books in paper. It does get boring but boring is good and you must be happy with what you got and no I don't need a partner remember I was married twice and everything was about what they wanted and not me.. I have gotten used to not answering to anyone or having to meet their needs and wants.. yes I am happy and don't have to struggle

I think if you want to succeed then you will succeed anywhere. I love my country India. But I don’t like the pollution and the rat race children go through . You cannot afford a decent place to stay in big cities if you are not earning really really well. Yes, loneliness is there in Canada but you can make friends , join extracurricular activities. I do hate the health system but also I know that God forbid if I ever have a serious disease , I don’t have to pay for it through my nose like India. This lady is cribbing for nothing at all. I don’t think she wanted to stay. She must have thought here roads are paved with gold. In India also you have to struggle . Go in a packed train to work, come late and cook. You don’t learn any life skills because maid is there.

Who on Earth would want to live here? We are such a depressing and failing culture and society. We have placed ourselves in a situation where nothing properly can grow here. Canada will get far more depressing over the next decades. I tell people all the time don't come here, you'll pay more than money for coming here. And I tell people, who are able, to leave. Find a better place to call home. Canada can't be home to people. Not with how we are easily dislodged, displaced and how everything around us is on fire and burning down. \n\nDon't come to Canada unless you're suicidal and want to die, or you happen to be super rich and you can make it. \n\nCanada will be losing many many Canadians in the future. Whether it's people leaving the country, whether it's people returning to their old countries, or whether it's people killing themselves off desperately trying to find solutions to problems. \n\nPlease don't come here people. \n\nCanada is a horrible place to live. And if I could leave here, I would. But alas I'm a very poor Canadian. So that leaves me with options of suicide later in life, at least Canada is getting programs together for that and the options become more accessible every passing year. If we are going to make a country filled with shit, we at least need to give options to people to leave instead of holding them to a slave system that goes nowhere.

Came to Canada from Kuwait looking for a better future. Big mistake, shouldn't have flapped my gums at work, i had a decent banking job with a career and a future. Now im stuck driving a effin truck with a bachelors degree to make slightly above average with 0 appreciation from the public, and a middle finger to say thank you for my 70 hour work weeks. I see my bed once every 3 days. I sleep next to rats and roaches in truck by the ports. Belittled by port workers and customs agents. Barked at by everyone down to a forklift driver. Looked at as lesser of a human because of the colour of my skin. What a horrible life :( My sister has already left and she was a dentist in Toronto. My mom went back ages ago. My dad is the only one wanting to stay to take care of his elderly patients, many rely on him. All i do is pay taxes and hide my money in the business, what a corrupt and horrible financial system.

I have visited the United States many, many MANY, MANY times over the years. I've loved every single visit. The people are warm and lovely....some of your scenery and historic things were more than a joy to behold Would I ever want to move there ? Not even for a second. In fact, sadly, my husband won't even go back for a visit anymore. This is sad to me, but I understand where he is coming from. \nWas sad to say good-bye to our dearest friends who moved to the US, because the job pay and promotion was impossible to say no to. They lasted 2 months and settled for less pay and no promotion to come back home. They found it so weird, that all the new friends they made, thought they were freaks because they didn't own guns. The final straw was when they learned these people were packing when they came to summer barbeques. That was the final straw, and they high-tailed it home. \nIn recent times, a country run by someone I see as a loose cannon, psychopath...makes it a most emphatic NO.

I’m 70 and when I tried to get jobs as a kid and later as a university grad - it was the same story. Whether the job really requires experience or the employer is just using it to keep entry level wages down - that just goes with the territory and also feels universal. Lastly - you speak of “the Canadian way” without giving any examples. What is “the Canadian way” or is that just your euphemism for racial or cultural prejudice? Toronto has BEEN trash, pay 2500$ a month to live in a shoe box and sit in traffic. If you want to move to Toronto just move to one of the many citys surrounding it almost every one is a better option.

I dont understand why people keep coming to Canada i born and raised here i am always in debt i barely support my 2 kids and my wife Canadian government they take off my income almost 50% and 15 % taxes on purchases so i live with 35% of my income what the hell is that also we are living in cold weather 6 months i dont understand like here in Quebec if uou want to buy a house you pay a welcome tax whats the hell i recommend everyone if you have a stable job in your country stay in your country between your family .

As an immigrant to Canada from a country that produces some of the most in-demand professionals, inventors, and artists in the world, I am appalled at North America’s ‘get rich easy’ culture. The States at least has a booming innovation sector that ensures it’s producing things others want to buy and can’t themselves produce. By contrast, Canada’s ENTIRE FREAKING ECONOMY seems to be built on getting rich easy without producing a thing of value for the world: how can flipping houses be the largest chunk of your GDP?! It sickens me. I’ll live and work there - at a job that pays six figures and came to Canada only because I moved there - for a few years, and then move. I have never seen a more dull and uninspired group of people.
