I moved to Canada 3 years ago and I can tell you life here is much better financially than London, England where I moved from. Building wealth isn’t hard in Canada unless you live in a city like Toronto. I sold my 1 bed Condo in Toronto for $700k and bought a massive 4 bed, 3 bathroom detached house for 500k in Edmonton. Yes it’s colder here but the wages are much higher and the tax is much much lower. Cost of living in general is much cheaper… Gas as of today is 1.11 per litre at my local Costco!\n\nMy advice to anyone living in Toronto is, move out as soon as you can and also avoid Vancouver because it’s no different!

Food quality in Canada is waaaay better, I been to Toronto to Niagara falls and drove to Montreal, even the American fast food joints tasted better in Canada, I didn't get to try PFC LMAO. Yes my fellow Americans KFC is PFC in the French side of Canada. Montreal women oh my, now what I thought was funny in Toronto every ethnic group has black kids hahaha, they out there trying to build the next Drake

It's cheaper to live in Dallas Texas than Montreal, which is one of the cheapest cities to live in Canada, so I don't know where you're getting lower cost of living (and yeah I heard you're trying to compare apples to apples, but this is impossible and honestly, wtf would someone want to live in a crime ridden city like NYC? Which btw is around the same housing cost as Vancouver..)\n\nAlso, I'm not sure if you guys pay taxes, but this is a HUGE factor; take home income in Canada is much lower, and when you consider Americans get paid the same as us but in US funds, their taxes are a joke, so their disposable income is much higher.\n\nCanada is a country where mediocrity is celebrated, it's a good country for average intelligence type people who don't or won't earn high incomes , who don't want to own businesses - yeah it's perfect for them , but I was born and raised here , and trust me seeing 60-65% of my income going to cumulative taxes is disgusting.\n\nOh and for the record, someone earning average income of $50k in Canada gives up 46% of that to cumulative taxes - this is a fact you guys seemed to have left out.\n\nFor good looking women, bro once again, Montreal born and raised, the quality has dropped severely - a lot of hairy legged far leftist anglo types taking over, it's not what it used to be....\n\nLived in both, once again, Canada celebrates its mediocrity, the US is where you go to make bank and build a business - And Toronto is the most racially self segregated city in the world....

Canada big ups. Definitely, when I have been to the states, the racial segregation was one of the biggest surprises. Being from Toronto, you'll legit have every culture within 1 floor of 1 apartment building. Then go to like Jersey, and not see a single black person in an entire neighborhood. I REALLY like the diversity of Canada, at least in the big cities. Happy to be raising our daughter here, we actually went out of our way to ensure the daycare we put her in was pretty diverse. \nNow, in our small towns, shit gets a little.... I don't wanna say RACIST per se, but definitely a lack of cultural diversity. Annnnd maybe a bit racist lol. \n\nBesides that, our Universal healthcare is definitely one of the reasons I am proud to be Canadian. It's not perfect, but Canadians don't even understand the idea of medical bankruptcy. Like, how could anyone be against the idea of having a system that gets rid of that? Because taxes go up? Like, we all get old and sick at some point. You DO get that money back with the healthcare you receive eventually, and in the long run, pay less per capita than places with private healthcare. It's like being against your pension. Makes no damn sense to me. \n\nLastly, I gotta throw a little shade on the overly patriotic nature of Americans. Like, the US makes great entertainment. They are a world leader in making entertaining shit. But besides that... y'all ain't so great. Your good, y'know, top tier in terms of countries. But not better in most ways than other first world countries. Worse in a few. Canada isn't perfect, but you don't see Canadians constantly claiming to be better than everyone else. It's such a weird flex, like, everyone who isn't from there knows it's not true. It's like showing up to a car meet in a Honda Civic, claiming to be faster than everyone else, laughing and driving off. It's just weird

Canada is indeed great, but the lower cost of living / higher quality of life doesn’t make up for the lower salaries in my experience. It’s nice to be able to come to the states to build a career and then go back once you have a solid foundation. I’m speaking from the perspective of someone working in tech.

Imagine complaining about not being able to build wealth in Canada. In Nigeria you essentially don’t pay tax and you have no roads, no light, no security. But I’m with you on the boringness, lol.

I would say why are u guys are staying in Canada I think u u guys should work for a few years make a good much of money an go back to your country an live a comfortable life at home stop trying to live in other people country make money and build your own country simple

I think it's the same when you move to any country. I have no end of work here, without university education, but it would translate to a very low paying job in another country. I have lived all my life in the best climate in Canada, but it's also one of the fastest growing areas and the traffic and endless high rise buildings have just become too much for me.\nIt seems so silly that the places I am considering moving to are the same ones that my co-workers have come from. I guess it's all about perspective.

Just more than a year living here in Canada realizations:\n\n1. So cold. Not everytime you can be so productive because the weather is a big hindrance\n2. As an immigrant, you will start from scratch. There will be great opportunities, sometimes really fast promotions or salary increase but workplaces are always short staffed that the amount of work is not worth it with how much the salary is. \n3. Some people still have preferences and you will really feel discriminated.\n4. People are polite, I am very impressed but so individualistic, it's sad. Growing in a country with a very collective type of community, you will really fee the void once you try living in Canada. you can't fully relate to everyone, be free to talk to them about everything because you rarely have common ground or understanding. I feel bad for the Canadians, its so hard to build relationships here in this country. Some of them might never experienced living that everyone of their schoolmates understand and laughs at the same meme because all of them have the same backgrounds and can relate.\n5. Housing prices are so high, it is so surprising for a country with big land mass but with very few population. Like how can be the house this expensive when winter is long, houses are wood and not stone and groceries, mall and other recreational areas are far?\n\nOverall, it's like a big scam going here in Canada. The biggest thing positive here is how powerful the currency is and the country being part of G7 and neighbor of US. Also it has very well preserved environment, scenic views. Aside those, others you can live without.

Canada is controlled by Mafia families.The Hospitals are private and get funding from Government. Same in Building homes , Only a few mafia builders can build houses in Canada , it is impossible for others to build.

Each country has its own pros and cons and question is whether cons are balanced by pros. \nI remember when Austrian colleague come to Toronto for a 3 months for a scientific exchange. She was shocked, whereas I, being in my 5th year of my stay there, I no longer react but adapt to a situation. \n\nAs for doctors, I know foreign doctors who can't practice as is taking forever to get papers done. Some of them need to pass all exams from a medical school. \n\nYou reminded me how I was annoyed by tax not included in a price. In Poland price on a price tag is final, the same for the UK or Switzerland. \nSilent racism I will call it fake openness as it also touches white immigrants from Europe. The job market is sealed shut and glass door awaits. My Canadian, academic job experience was good enough for the UK and Switzerland/Liechtenstein. Funny fact, recently I got invitation to apply for a job in Canada as suddenly I am good enough. Of course no one ever invited me to the network so networking is not. Even funnier I was interviewed for a job but when I saw rent for 1 bedroom in Toronto I withdrawn my application.\n\n I was told old building in Switzerland are bad. Maybe. But after living in a carton wall studio in Toronto, now rent is above 2,000 CAN, I have very low expectations. Remember my shock when I saw quality of a buildings.

Please stop making Canada sound like 'the frozen north'. Any educated person knows that this is a 'Seasonal' country. Our summers reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times and we can actually sunburn while sun tanning on these days. We water-ski, swim, boat and sail, golf, gold-pan, hike, bicycle, Motorcycle, camp, picnic, fish, sky-dive, drive, shop, tap for Maple syrup and thoroughly enjoy our Springs and Summers like any other normal person and country. Our Autumn's are glorious as leaves turn crimson and gold, with picking all kinds of fresh fruit, canning jars of produce, carving pumpkins for Hallowe'en, making and tasting wines. Our Winters, loved, with some of the best ski resorts in the world; skating rinks--Our skaters won Gold in the Olympics and some of the best Hockey teams, who have also won Olympic Gold, come from Canada. We still toboggan, go on sleigh rides, ice swim, build snowmen and make the occasional Snow Angel, just for fun. We have learned to deal with winter snows--they're called Snowplows, which are abundant and whose operators are extremely efficient! AND, we have miles and miles and miles of uninhabited land--a rare treasure now-a-days! We are Canadian and we love it!!????

I do watch many videos about the topic. First of all there's no place like home. As a human we will have tendency to resist to change. Choosing to leave a country whatever the reason will always be hard, you left a culture, family and so many good things. Diversity in a country like Canada is a good thing sometimes because somewhere somehow you find link to home. Imagine as a French Canadian like I am, I am consider as an immigrant in my own country. The natives came first from Asia, English took over the country which left us with no country we can call home. Many immigrants will say that French is an obstacle and don't understand why we need laws to keep it, we took our place following negotiations with the native not by conquest and always need to fight to keep that space because we're not making babies anymore and do need immigration like the rest of the country. That being said it brings the sensitive topic of jobs. There's types of jobs you do need Canadian experience, in Canada the construction codes are different from even a region versus another one. Do you know that St-Lawrence river is sitting on a tectonic plate and you need to construct a building which can resist a earthquake? What Canada need to do because we do lack of people on those job, is to provide fast track to help them having Canadian experience. They don't need anatomy courses, human here are pretty much the same but they need to know what medication is legal in Canada. Finally, all is on setting expectations, don't expect to feel at home in here, it take in average 3 generations to really feel at home, so be ready to feel pushed aside, be ready to live in a area where you will find mostly people of common cultural background. You will feel left over and pretty much alone. The only solution to be happy in here is embrasse change, go out of your comfort zone, embrace the local culture, talk to people from different backgrounds. There's a difference between multi cultural and integration. Sharing is caring, share your culture and your food, and most of all don't think you have the best way of life and other people don't understand. When you think everyone is wrong is usually a sign that you're the one who is wrong. Racism weirdly don't have a culture, a race or a religion, it's individual.

There will be a huge influx of Ukrainian refugees, One could not get a better immigrant in Canada they are well educated, hard working, industrious and use to the Canadian winters, They build the prairies in the last Russia war migration in 1914 and will be major contribution to Canada. Many will settle in the prairies were Ukrainian language is more common, and Saskatchewan population will significantly increase which for some time has been a downward spiral.

Right now, we need fewer immigrants, not more. It is irresponsible to be opening the floodgates to immigration when we do not have enough affordable housing for them to live in. Where are they going to live? Under the current system, we have more new Canadians bidding up the prices on a limited supply of housing. To say that increased immigration will build MORE houses is just not true. Since 2000, Canada has brought in 5 956 963 immigrants; (Source Statista). During that same period that we brought in almost 6 million new immigrants, Canada’s housing situation has deteriorated to the point so that people are unable to find affordable housing. Forty-year old’s are living in their parents basements because they cannot afford a house or rent an apartment. If 6 million new Canadians only makes housing worse, what will opening the flood gates do? No, we need to fix our problems at home. Ensure that there is enough housing for people to move into before bringing them into Canada.

Then Canada needs to build bigger roads. Infrastructure cannot handle more vehicles on the roads in Toronto and Vancouver. Real Estate is also out of control!

This whole system needs an overhaul. Why is Canada recruiting so many international students just from India anyway? If there has been a need for housing/hostels for international students why doesn't the government tackle this. In Kenya private developers build studio apartments in areas with Colleges/Universities, this works out pretty well. A private space is better than strangers huddled up together

the part where the one student in India is asked why he wants to go in Canada and he says he wants a white collar job and the life he dreamed of which I would imagine entails a Canadian wife as well? In other words, shouldn't Canada try to attract people to do work in building homes and things we need instead of rent seeking industries like banking, insurance etc... that doesn't improve the lives of Canadians already born here (and in some cases go generations back)

Bhai you have to take into account taxes as well … cost of living is high in Canada… focus on building new skills as soon as you arrive in fact come equipped from home if you can as those courses would be a lot cheaper then here… you have to go above minimum pay otherwise life is daily struggle to make ends meet

What I see in Canada is that lots of people have an employee mentality. Many of them make a good income, but they spend their money on stupid things, like nice cars, expensive phones, fancy restaurants, trips, etc. How can they expect to build wealth if they basically flush their hard-earned money down the toilet? It's true that housing and food are expensive in Canada, but that's basically all you need to live. The rest of your income can be used to create businesses and more income streams, but no people prefer their 9 to 5 job and watch non-sensical TV shows after that.

I’m moving out few years agoes out of Canada and so happy indeed living in ?? so much freedom depending wich states you want to live freedom on money , health benefit , outdoors indoors activities etc…Canada it’s an empty country, empty land too cold and depress living and please check the population of Canada only worth one states (Texas)USA population. Canada only need immigrants to build their country and in terms of Govn professions their are very selective and it’s hard to get through if your immigrant unless your a scientist or engineers still yiu need to move to other parts of Canada to get hired . It also depends where in Canada you live. In Ontario I'd sometimes wait 12 hours to see a doctor at the hospital. Coupled with the amount of racism and hate that's building over there. I have since moved to BC and at the hospital I'm usually seeing a doctor within 15-25 minutes. Plus people are overwhelmingly less hostile. The coast doesn't have quite as frigid winters either.

From what you described and what I have heard from Canadians living in the US, Canada is not a country for someone who is a go-getter and trying to build a better life for their family. Free health care makes the system overwhelmed and causes delays in getting treatment, try being in a situation where u have a life-threatening illness and can't afford treatment. It's hard to build wealth in Canada, try building your stupendous wealth in a country that is unsafe with poor infrastructures. There's no perfect situation in life but I think having a good quality of life supersedes wealth accumulation and most other things.

Canada is fine but you're basically correct. It's fantastic for mousey types who want security and sameness, but if you are looking for adventure, crackle and opportunity, it's a dead end. But if you say anything, you get swarmed by moaners who hate to be criticized. The country is addicted to news articles saying it's the best country in the world LOL. I lived in the USA for many years and it is like night and day. You feel like you are building the future. Unfortunately, the USA has an utterly broken immigration system, so good luck if you want to emigrate there.

I was born and raised in Canada and left 30 years ago. I went to Vancouver about 10 years ago to visit family and I also found it ugly. The big glass buildings looked so dirty and outdated. It felt like an old outdated logging town. Like most Canadians, I used to be proud of the medical system but now I've realized it doesn't cure people it just keeps the citizens sick. Everyone I know there is sick and they are all proud of how many operations they've had and how many pills they take. I remember paying 30% in taxes as a University student with a part-time job. It just wasn't fair. The last straw was when I saw how the Trudeau government responded during covid. They hijacking the news stations and brainwashed the citizens. And then, they froze bank accounts of those who dared to protest or even support protesters. I lost a lot of respect for people there who I thought were intelligent and It made me realize how that place turns people into drones. Now I'm ashamed to be Canadian. Most Canadians live in a bubble and think it's the best country in the world but that's because they don't know what it's like to live. Good for you for leaving. I wish you all the best.

I've met a lot of people from all over the world who come to Canada for a better life. Most are good genuine people, they work hard have children build a life for themselves and become useful citizens and contribute to the community they join. every once in a while I hear someone make claims like they deserve preparations because Canadians act racist towards them. Hearing this I have to ask how have they been wronged? Who was keeping them down being racist towards them. Regarding Nigerians, they are social animals. If they achieve something, they love for people to see it and offer accolades. In Canada, nobody cares what you have. Over time, such a situation could lead to depression, and ultimately to deciding to move from Canada.\n\nReal estate is expensive in Canada. The cost of buying a 3-bdrm in Canada could build a mansion in Nigeria. Imagine having N400m in Nigeria for a house.

I've never been to Canada and I'm new to this site so excuse me if I seem rude, but why are you there. I'm glad she asked the question if you would leave cause its a good question. You couldn't answer. I'm sure Canada couldnt take everyone to just make you live a vacation they want to build their country. I'd love to live there, I hear it's cold but its a choice. If it's that hard dont complain just leave. Then youd be more credible to me. I'm Kenyan living in the Netherlands. I feel now I'm older once my child turns 18, I'd love to live in my country.\nI admire Canada, and many Africans here once they got their passport went to Canada. I find it cold that's why I didn't come, but have visited Nigeria and want to visit again. I visited Lagos longtime. Hope to visit Abuja. Love Naija food, fashion and culture. I'm surprised most young folk don't want to go back home, but maybe when they're retired. It's all good, build home from outside.

Well I hope you two young and beautiful ladies stick with Canada. \n\nI will say you might be a little off when you say that in the USA you will be paid more and can become richer. The fact is the US has the highest inequality among wealthy nations. And the worst health care, they place 20 out of 20 in the OECD. So wages and getting rich I disagree with, and cost of goods are on par....however housing is still cheaper and that is a big one. \n\nDue to the massive immigration we are experiencing here (too fast imo) it plays a big factor in health care degradation and wait times etc. The government was slow to respond to the fact when you add 300 000 people a year to Ontario it will require more health care providers. \n\nAnd don't forget it was the taxes my ancestors paid that provided the buildings you now enter for health and school etc. It seems that is seldom thought of by new comers. Even nice ones like yourselves.

ALL TRUE. I left Canada for the States in 2021. Single RN no dependents here, no chronic disease. There was no sweet spot for me back home. Working extra shift or working according to my FTE has always been a dilemma. Coz the more money you make the more you are being taxed. At some point, it felt like I was just working for my bills and for other peoples’ social benefits/health care. I wasn’t saving up more. I wasn’t building wealth. Definitely the safest and one of the best BUT that’s if you are WILLING to pay the price. Here in the States, I can pay my US and Canada bills at the same time. Can’t do that back home ??. Sad but TRUE.

If, you aren't a disciplined person then you won't succeed in western countries especially Canada imo. I see people constantly complaining about being bored, but I rarely see new african immigrants mix with groups outside of their home culture. That results in NO building, no reputation, little to no African districts or recognition at all throughout the provinces. It's a shame.\nThe carribbeans did it right in Toronto and it's why their culture has spread in that city. What's the point of moving to another country that is deemed diverse and not trying to gain a mixed friend group? They can learn from you and help you level up while you promote your culture. Lol! I live in South Africa and pay those 40-45%% taxes and get nothing back in terms of service delivery. I'd take Canada life any day. I don't wanna build wealth and get killed in the streets because of it. \n\nHaving said that, I'd choose Australia because of the weather and outdoors lifestyle.
