Trudeau has allowed over a million immigrants a year but has not planned for any infrastructure. Total incompetence.

Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, and the UK have simply become nightmare for immigrants who are lured by the commission agents for a better future. The government of the five countries pretty much allows the immigration scams to flourish because more people simply mean more money and cheap labor. Basically, it's an indirect slavery into a trapped system that completely destroys your ability to get out of it. These five countries do not have an organic ecosystem to grow in a self sustainable way. These are largely consumer societies depending on the import of goods and food. The import of people generates more tax to keep these countries going. In a nutshell, extreme dirty capitalism will destroy these countries soon.

Too many immigrants were allowed in Canada. For this reason, Canadians are paying a steep price. These people need to go back to their own countries before they completely destroy mine. It’s that simple. I know the small town I live in has completely turned into East India 2.0.

The problem is immigration policy and housing policy were treated as separate. Yes, I know, how is this possible? Easy, incompetence. This problem was allowed to boil and that the kettle blew up the geniuses are scratching their ass wondering what went wrong. The government's answer, move the Minister of Immigration and make him Minister of Housing. This is akin to inviting the arsonist who was responsible for the fire to put it out. By the way, listening to this pompous windbag is worth the amusement. In one interview he stated the obvious, how immigration was a problem for housing, something that escaped powers of observation when he was Minister of Immigration.

Is canada will not take immigrants seriously, it will fall drastically. Politicians and planners here are worst in the world. Canada is racist, it does not allow people to jokn their workforce as they know new immigrants are far more capable from them.

If these people have no where to live, and can't find jobs to match their skills, why are they allowed to immigrate in the first place? People who already live here can't find jobs or housing. Should we be emigrating to accomodate immigrants? Canada used to be it's own country, and a beautiful place to live and it has gone down the drain. It's disgraceful.

I think it is the quality of the immigrants that come to Canada that needs to be analysed. If too many low skilled or people with unemployable skills are granted visas, then any country, let alone Canada, would seem like a tough country to settle and earn. Canadian govt seems to be lenient in allowing too many unemployable ppl to get into the country. This has resulted in an imbalance. It just needs a strong govt which Canada lacks at this point in time. 90% of the problems can be solved within 4 to 5 years if govt stops or regulates visas.

Any other country in the world would limit the number of international students coming into their own countries. Why shouldn't Canada limit our own borders and allow Canadians to afford and have housing at home? We are already accepting +1 million immigrants and refugees. We Canadians hope that common sense would prevail.

There are legal measures to immigrate to the US! As a husband and father who paid over $15K to bring my wife and our 4 daughter's legally to the US and now over $5K to help them all attain US citizenship , it is frustrtaing to watch all the unlawful immigration happening. It is appalling to watch US citizens actually coming with excuses for it, and supporting it! If the political systems actually allows and continuee to allow unlawful immigration, they had better add in compensation for those of us who went the legal route! I know compensation for us will never happen, so instead let's enforce legal immigration and secure our borders!!!

The people that are complaining about Canada have some valid points , as do I . But in travelling to other countries you really see how the good extremely out weighs the bad . The main problem in my opinion is allowing massive Immigration without improvement of services across every aspect of living . This leads to the degradation of the quality of life . Government can't have it both ways , Get sufficient housing and services or slow immigration . It's that simple

Any kind of religion is allowed in Canada but immigrants need to know, understand and respect that Canada is a Christian country. That's why both of you are kids/student visas upon entry. Lol. That explains it. 30 years ago, only economic professional immigrants or refugees were only allowed to immigrate to Canada, it changes so much now. so what if instead of sending them to over populated majors cities.... when they immigrate, they go to under populated areas...... to help build that economy up and build that part of Canada up. build schools and grow them in places where we would like development to happen. 11k of people to a under developed area that needs a economy boots / help will go along way and give the major populated areas time to grow their infrastructure to eventually allow larger immigration to happen thus growing population and economy even further. just a idea from a citizen who doesn't matter nor does his opinion. the smart people are the ones in charge allowing this situation to unfold. they are the smart ones

I’m a born Canadian and Canada was once the envy of the world. Cost of living was decent and plenty of good paying jobs. I couldn’t imagine being an immigrant here now. Cost of living is skyrocketing and our government does nothing about it. We are taxed so high and get little in return for the high taxes. Though our healthcare system is free and We do have state of the art facilities and skilled doctors it takes forever to get treated due to high wait times and staff shortages. There are many people immigrating to Canada with high education and experience but Canada does not allow them to practice here because they were not educated here. They are forced to take lower paying jobs. Many young people are leaving because it just too expensive to live here and the political climate is not what it used to be. Growing old here is very difficult unless you have support from family or have a large enough pension account to live in a retirement community

In a press conference that the Bank of Canada held recently they all but blamed the rising housing costs, particularly rent, on the flood of immigration that the current administration is allowing. If they are going to admit these many foreign students then colleges and universities need to use the extra income they are enjoying from the influx of foreign students to provide housing for them.

I don’t think the student’s are a problem as much as immigration itself.\nCanada has been very negligent the way immigrants were taking in to the Country. Instead of letting these immigrants responsibly come into the Country , they were stampeding into Canada without anyone watching that these people even were eligible or not. Post secondary institutions love foreign students. They charge waaaaay more and make that much more.\nThe response against more foreign students by liberal media is the threat that your tuition will go up with limits on foreign students.\nWhat about spaces? For every foreign student there's one less space for Canadian students.\nHousing is the biggest issue today.\nPrevious to Trudeau, the issue was the cost of detached homes in big cities going up but today it's insane rental costs across the board that no one can afford.\nI have been dumb founded as to why after decades of predictable increases and stock suddenly, year after year, cost went up dramatically as stock dwindled.\nI see the same places available, no one's tearing down masses of cheap 70s built rentals so what happened?\nThen I saw the immigration numbers. Canadians aren't having kids so who is taking all this housing? It has to be immigration.\nClearly, it's time to turn the taps down and allow housing stock to catch up.\nThe ripple effect is that no one can work an entry level job in the city. Who can afford a minimum $1000 month on minimum wage? Even at $20 hour, everyone is hiring but no one is filling positions in cities where there's nowhere to rent. Even these way over priced rentals, a bedroom in a run down house has line ups to rent at $800 month.\nThe only people accessing affordable housing are people on the street or on disability who qualify for it. Low income workers are the most screwed class of people especially if single.

I think part of the issue is the type of immigration. We only go for high skilled immigrants who study medicine, law, engineering, etc. It should be expanded to allow more labourers to come and work here to get that housing built.

But the surrounding Muslim nations will not allow Palestinian refugees into their countries, whether they want to come or not. International students should be allowed to train and learn in Canada. That should not be a green light to immigration however. We need to go back to an organized immigration policy that accepts new citizens based on merit and who want to embrace Canadian culture, not erase it.

Canada has become so corrupt. It's also known Canada has become a haven for money laundering and all kinds of schemes like that. These colleges have turned into diploma mills. Their diplomas have no real value anymore. many new immigrants who rushed in thinking canada was some honeypot are now leaving for good which is the most compelling reason why canada is not a destination to immigrate! unlike US there are no mechanisms in place for new immigrants to succeed with higher costs, unaffordable housing and taxes jobs are difficult to find and on top it to adjust as new migrants it’s very difficult so yes the canadian dream is very much over for most immigrants, international students can go anywhere for education it’s not a canadian specialty as such but most students came to canada because it allows them to do work after graduation but other countries are also catching up with attractive schemes to attract these students so it does look like lesser students are expected in canada from now on…

The example used should have been somewhere like Conestoga, which has become an absolute diploma-mill, basically selling residency. The impact on local communities has been ridiculous and many of those students are competing for local working class jobs. Remove the residency ability and the number of students will collapse, that is what is needed. If the institutions can't prove that they can house the students they should not be allowed to bring them in. If some of these diploma-mills go bust, good. We should be putting a break on immigration anyway, to give Canada a break to integrate the millions and millions that have come in in the past two decades.

As a Canadian I think we should be helping fund the Universities and Colleges and getting rid of the private colleges. We need to stop immigration completely for a while and only allow skilled immigrants in required fields. If Canadians assist in funding the Universities and Colleges then tuition will be more affordable for Canadians. I'd rather pay tax towards schools instead of something useless like carbon tax.

I don't think the problems you're describing are a uniquely Toronto issue (many cities across the world are having an affordability crisis - Toronto's is bad, but not unique). I think it's also a lasting effect from COVID (especially on the mental health side). I do sympathize with Chow - seems like the city isn't getting much help from the feds who are allowing mass immigration without any infrastructure or services to support it (see 10.5% proposed property tax hike in order to keep the city afloat after Tory). All in all, think the city needs a bit of time to heal after the past few years but I'm optimistic it'll get there.

They're trying to get rid of the middle class and force rentals and no more ownership. Refugees and immigrants are allowed in to mess with demand and covid caused people to move out of the city, then American billionaires such as Bill Gates bought up all the vacant homes and are raising prices. We gotta fix the loopholes and only allow people who live here to own. Pretty much what happened in Rome is going to happen here and Canada has a lot of resources which is what China wants.

I respect your decision to leave based on misalignment of values and other factors you cited. I wish newcomers would be aware of these things before they moved to Canada. Anytime Canada takes in a flood of immigrants and refugees whose value systems don't align it creates longer term issues for society and the country. Biden is doing the same thing by allowing a flood of refugees, little does he realize what the long term impacts will be.

This is pretty funny. I'm Canadian and my best friend is an economist working for the government on demographic issues full time. Just has an FYI canada has seen its highest immigration rate in the past 50 years last year. I can also see and feel all the immigrants moving in the job market. I'm not so sure why those videos keep being produced. This country is not perfect but it's better than many other places in the world. For example, canada is barely affected by climate change because we already have resilient infrastructure. When it comes to housing it's not so much that the governement does not allow for more building than the fact that it's hard to build affordable homes because the homes in canada require a lot of work due to the nature of the climate. (Has a trained carpenter and GC I know.) It's also very far from all of the world's chaos. All those emerging wars will affect Europe directly but all we get are some small economic backlashes. Anyhow, I've been living here for my whole 31 years of life and I've enjoyed the place and its peace. What I dislike is the cold and the lack of sun. I really dislike Canada now because it is so segregated and overly progressive. A large portion of Chinese and Indians are not a fabric of society and are outsiders in their own ethnic enclaves. I already left, and so are many fellow Canadians like me. If you want immigration you need a cood down period so that these immigrants learn to adapt to the culture first rather than allowing these communities to become the new Canada.

Im 1st generation to Canada in 1952 , garduated from Univ, served in Canadian Army .This country has deteriated due to consecutive governments allowing flow of immigrants, refugees, student visas . Also Liberal Government continuing to destroy our economy, printing beyond our GDP on behest of a globalist agenda in pursuit of world control. I left Canada 2 years ago and moved to California. I lived for 13 years in Mississauga. About Canada: terrible weather, worst drivers, fewer cops to ticket drivers, worst community and University teaching experience. I taught for 13 years in Ontario, and it's all business. Housing is more expensive in Mississauga than a beach house in Orange County. Excellent medical system in Southern California (at least what I have experienced so far with two younger daughters). With year-round great weather and access to high-quality fruits and vegetables, school systems are among the finest in the US. I have not heard a single gunshot in the last 2 years. People are not allowed to take weapons unless concealed with a license.\n\nI would not recommend anyone to settle in Canada. I heard that most immigrants who move to Canada are not well-educated and end up doing blue-collar jobs. Those who are educated are doing under-qualified jobs. A super expensive country with super high vehicle insurance, expensive cell phone and cable plans, and so on. I took a dermatologist appointment for my kid, and it took 6 months in Ontario versus two days in the US. I know it is just my case, but overall, I am very happy that I left Canada.

Anyone who crosses the border illegally for any amount of time be it five minutes or 5 years , it’s a life time ban from ever entering this country again . They have to pass a law like this and have include the ones already here , if you get caught you are deported and never allowed to enter the country legally again period never again. I would have the president give a speech encouraging all illegal immigrates that from this moment until 30 days from now you will have to go back to your home country, if you can’t afford it we will put you on a flight to the airport of our choice in your homeland.So for the next 30 days you will not be stopped or detained if you are leaving the country but anyone who’s still here after that deadline and caught there’s no immigration court with free lawyers you are gone with a life time ban . If you want to come legally than all the regular procedures are still in place . First find a sponsor, than get a visa so you can go to the immigration office and get a background check , if you don’t qualify than too bad it’s not our fault you don’t meet our requirements to be eligible to become a U.S. citizen. If you pass the background check and can prove you can support yourself and have a place to live then you get a green card and you get in line while you are in this country and wait your turn to become a U.S. citizen .

I think your reading of the situation is slight from the wrong end of scope. \n\n1> the job of the Canadian gov is to look after Canadians. (Yes they allow immigrants but that is for the benefit of Canadians and not the other way around. \n\nThe house prices are intentionally kept high. The reason is because it makes existing citizens richer. (Year on year) these people vote and the gov would like their vote) . Creating huge supply of housing is going to crash the market and that will end up people feeling poor. (Values will drop : demand and supply) . Falling values mean people will feel poor and then less likely to vote for the current administration.\n\nI am based in UK which is experiencing record amount of immigration. \n\nTaxes here are high.(I don’t mind high taxes as long as there are good public services to show for them) \n\nGood roads \nHigh speed internet \nGood infrastructure \nHospitals \n\nSo the job of the gov (in western hemisphere) generally is to keep the voting public happy. \n\nThat involves \n\n1>Good public services (most are social states and people accept high taxation as a trade off for good public services) \n\n2> rising house prices. (Voting public wants to feel richer and owning your home is like your retirement and pension pot. Most of the wealth in uk is stored in property. Allowing foreign buyers to purchase houses while NOT living in Canada was the trigger that started all this. Canada receives WAY TOO MANY immigrants per year. The system cant adjusts fast enough. This drive the demand for housing and for rents. \nCanada needs to close access to land/house to foreign buyers, stop investment visa, and cease immigration for a few years until the system catches up to the demand.\nY'all leave Canada and won't ever give up your Canadian passport in case things go south in your new country (also visa privilege).

I was born in Canada but I'm married to an immigrant, a hard-working model citizen who is loved by everyone, we have a child together and we've now decided to move back to Japan. I will not have my daughter grow up under sharia law. I'm educated enough to know what happens when we allow Islam power. They will become the majority because, they use violence to attain their goals, and Canadians are too politically correct, too afraid of being accused of being Islamophobic. Many will think that it won't happen here, just as they think that they will never become ill or be harmed by anyone, but it will certainly happen. We are preparing to leave soon.

Exactly what you are describing ie crime, unemployment, broken infrastructure, is the same across tge West. There are left wing governments right across the West the US, Canada, UK, EU are dystopian left wing nightmares. They have huge numbers of uneducated immigrants or qualified people where there are no jobs available, massive welfare programs which are unfunded, weak social laws which allows criminals back onto the streets. Thet dont spend on necessary infrastucture ie transport because they are basically broke.\nThere is so much more to why Canada, like the US, have been turned into a new 3rd world, a middle ages style economy with shirtages if everything, restrictions on what you can do or say!
