hello, Canadian here. i believe that ( personally ) if Canada had the same freedom for weapons as the USA, things wouldn't go as bad as the USA. or wouldn't change at all. the main problem, which americans at large still refuses to admit it seems, or at least the loudest ones, is that it's a culture problem, not a gun problem. the whole of USA culturally is kinda rotten with way more chances for someone to just crack and go nuts, or commit a shitty act out of desperation, anything. while in Canada, we have people and gorups to help take care of this. we do not bankrupt people by making them seek help at hospital, and so on. the whole socio-economic of the USA is to blame for this. \n\nin my humble, basement dwelling person opinion as someone who thought about this subject for a while.

Most of these responses seemed to be from left-leaning people in Canada. British Columbia is NDP, socialist leaning, in other words. I'm from Alberta. We recently had an election here and made it abundantly clear we do not want the NDP running our province. We have a gun culture here and won't give up our arms. I didn't read one mention of the PM in Canada. Yet, walk around and all you hear about is the hatred people have of him and the division he has caused. The leader of the NDP sides with him. I actually have dual citizenship, so harbor no bad feelings to the US. I just don't go where there are a lot of left-leaning Dems/Liberals. Alberta to Texas is almost like not leaving Alberta, just going to the ranch down the way and visiting family.

Listen... I'm all for helping out fellow human beings but it seems this person was blocking her way which you can see, and she explains that this isn't the first time he's done that! The fact he spoke to her in Indian just shows he is not culturally appropriated to our language or even laws for that matter! Never mind the fact he has packed up and moved his kids and wife assuming! We as long term citizens of our country need to tell our governments we need to focus on our own issues and not just let all these people in! Plus I looked up how much it was to study in India and let me say - it's a whole lot cheaper than it is in Canada, USA or Brittain as far as I'm concerned THEY are receiving money from outside sources to Spy and send info to others covertly! And I can smell a rat! Those people worship !multiple gods and are evil! They are not from Christian communities they are devil worshippers! They laugh and in their language talk to other Indians who love with us and call their big tech company's they work for! Spys! All of em!

All these reasonings are pretty tame ngl. It's just 1st world problems after 1st world problems. Even the speed limit thing. There's nothing wrong with 50 even if it should be 70. You know, I agree on that, that there are times when the road is so empty I want to go past the speed limit. But the thing is, that's just a luxury. I can stay on 50 and I'll lose at most 2 minutes on a 20 minute drive. Boo hoo.\n\nBut hey, you seem to like your new place a lot, so good for you. That's all that really matters. Not typically against helping people trying to give their families a better life, without the risk of being killed over dumb shit, but it's getting more and more likely here. Not to mention our own housing crisis. We really do need to at least get things under control for our own citizens before we do more to open up migration. Sure, we have plenty of land and a very small population for it, but it seems more and more that we're tumbling down a hill as a nation right now.

Racism happens to a lot of races here in Canada and around the world and I think will always be the case. My mom came from the Philippines and worked two jobs back to back for 17 years and was bullied so badly by East Indians because they ran her work place but she had to stay strong and deal with that among other things while growing up but is still grateful to Canada until this day. My ex girlfriend of many years was Congolese but grew up in Kenya and yes I felt racism on her part when we were together and it was frustrating and sad but again it came from all races not just white people. She is still grateful for Canada and always stayed strong and didn’t let these idiotic attitudes tear her down. Hopefully things will change in the world but the state it is in right now doesn’t seem to be the case.

Not that many people in the developed world are shopping for an alternative country. So I imagine most Americans and most Canadians will be content with their nation of birth. But as a Canadian, I have to admit I'm a bit scared of the US. The level of violent crime down there is such that _many_ (not all) people feel they need guns for personal security. American prison rates testify to a level of desperation and alienation that is _not_ appealing to me. I don't want to live somewhere where owning a deadly weapon seems like a sensible idea! Also, as a struggling creative/entertainment person, I can't guarantee I'll be consistently earning good money – there are plenty of lean times in my biz. I don't want to be repeatedly worrying about my health coverage disappearing, whenever work dries up. I've never had that type of anxiety in Canada, and I sure appreciate that. Btw, although the Canadian health system is a long way from perfect, I've always managed to get appropriate care, according to my needs, quickly enough, at no cost to myself. And currently, I really like my GP _and_ my specialists!

O the irony. How many of you here believe the election was stolen the bidens are a crime family and the government is totally fucked all while clinging to the 2nd amendment seemingly the only piece of this government you care about that states you should only have those weapons to fight your corrupt government and yet crickets but these people fleeing governments who execute people for their opinions who also have no weapons should somehow do something. It's almost like they don't see how the effects of employers offering wages too low to support paying rent being mixed with large investment firms buying up all the Housing stock and enacting policies of constantly evicting current tenants to increase rental prices isn't a major component in the problem.\nThe reality is, the housing crises could be easily fixed by raising minimum wage to a living wage and restricting investment firms from using residential housing as investment stocks especially as one of their tactics seems to be to intentionally not rent out large portions of their housing stock to create a shortage in supply, this driving up demand along with rental prices.\nYou can't honestly complain about the homeless crisis while ignoring the fact that corporations are intentionally keeping rentals empty to drive up rental prices. I am an Australian. We seem to have a similar situation. Many of the children of baby boomers have given up attempting to purchase a residential property. Plus, our R & D spending is one of the lowest in the OECD.\nConservative, middle-class Australians, who until recently were in charge of the place, are not big picture people. Their concerns usually centre around their favourite private school and private health premiums.\nWith what is termed negative gearing, an amazing number of property investors don't pay a cracker in taxation. It's the same with our gas and iron orr exporters.\nWould you believe we have the lunatic situation of being the world's largest exporter of LNG, but have a shortage of it on Australia's east coast? We are even considering constructing terminals to import our own gas back from Japan!

Even tho I don’t think this is correct, U.S people luckily finds themselves on a good position to see this just as people making a tantrum to enter the U.S, proudly I say I’m Mexican American and I’ve lived in Mexico and Brasil as well, non of those Latin American countries I lived is as bad as Venezuela and even like that I’ve seen some very messed up shit, they are countries with a huge culture and beautiful but on the lowest levels it’s a pretty dark place to be…so for the USA people here that is heavily throwing shit, be some kind of human try to understand at least , I get it, I don’t think this is the way neither, but they are not just people trying to invade to take over or whatever, I even saw a comment saying that they should shoot those Venezuelans, the world is a pretty messed up thing now, and luckily or unluckily we don’t really know a shit about it, they are DESPERATE it seem like they were violent and most probably some of them tried to get violent but most of them is just desperate people trying to have it better in their only and one only lives..worst yet, if you have a kid, imagine how worried would you feel for not being able to provide your kid with a good life… see the people in the front for example, they were people begging and crying, is being desperate for having something better, and this is a really biiiiiiig subject with a lot of issues, wrongs, misunderstanding… you don’t know how bad is going in Venezuela, not even me, but I can imagine it cuz I know how bad some people have it in Mexico, and they don’t know how them illegally getting into the US is going to affect the US, I try to get all points so I don’t think this is correct, this kind of events shouldn’t be happening, but I also understand, just to put it in perspective, I’ve talked with some people from Venezuela and they’ve told me some crazy stuff, quick example. McDonalds something most American people know …for one person only it can be around 15 - 20 bucks, in Venezuela, and I think minimum wage rn is around 6.15 bucks and if it’s good it can be around 20 - 30 A MONTH, now apply this formula to EVERYTHING, housing, bills, expenses and I think things in Venezuela for a little bit better not that long ago,so it was worst than what I just told you, imagine you finish college you have somehow of a decent life and for things you don’t understand and no one advise you of, next week your job, money is not even half of the value it had last week, imagine if it was you and your family, your kids…I don’t have kids but I know my mom would’ve done anything for trying and give me not even a luxurious life, but a kinda decent life, and I know most of people would’ve done the same, and not only for your kids, also your mom, dad, sisters, brothers and even YOURSELF…again, I’m not saying this is correct or it’s not I’m just saying at the end our surrounding make us do whatever we are doing….I get you not being okay with this, but try to be comprensible and not go straight into hate for this people. \n\nUnfortunately I wouldn’t imagine anything to solve this problem and I hope something better comes for the entire world right now …but I just doubt it…

If you have an issue with latino people coming here undocumented, you should remember that your ancestors did EXACTLY the same thing and that they decimated native Americans in order to create rules, laws and regulations against the very thing they themselves did. Don't like it? Why are you here in the Americas then- if you don't want to mingle with us? All of Latinos are American whether central, south or north American.\n \nNative Americans were here first. Aside from the fact that we need to protect our borders I would like to remind everybody that when I was a child we went into Venezuela as a military force we continue to go through all the South American countries either taking out directly the people that were voted into office and placing our own in there and then exploiting each country and now the Venezuela has come upon corporate entities who are literally starving them so badly that they’re going to the zoo and eating the animals it just seem unjustly criticized because you never hear about that side of it you just assume there’s Mexicans trying to cross the border as usual this is open my eyes

There is increased systemic racism against black people around the world these days, especially in Europe. You have to look deeper to understand what is going on because on the surface everything sometimes seems okay.

Our current administration wants them to come in droves from these third world socialist countries where they blindly re-elect tyrannical leaders. They protest against their policies and then re-elect them again. ?‍♀️ Our current administration and some state leaders have already stated they would move to allow illegal immigrants the right to vote. It’s a power grab to ensure they will maintain control. And seems they want to break down and overload our infrastructure where we will be dependent on government aid and then they can implement socialist policies to control the people. Nothing else makes sense for why they would be doing this. It’s not humanitarian, it’s causing chaos and allowing for criminals to flourish.

Canada is moving people urgently from Ukraine , Syria, India, China... but seems like a struggle to bring in immigrants from the south end of this continent, insane.

Damn I’ve been to Toronto a few times and overall the white people seemed pretty friendly and laid back over there. Same with white Canadians I’ve met in the US and other countries. I guess their racism reputation isn’t as bad as the US.

Funny story , they gave my aunt asylum for a fake story she invented, she now has work permit cashing big money on this year tax return as she has 3 kids she is living the life ! It seems she will be now getting a visa . I called the ICE and reported her for lying and nothing was ever done . She came I’m sure from this group and let me tell u she said so many people were allowed inside .

This is really tragic, but it doesn't seem like anyone is asking what can be done in Mexico, or Venezuela or Guatemala, or wherever, to help create an environment where people can be safe and have real economic opportunity there? This is not good. There is a reason these people are risking life and limb to flee their home countries trying to come to the US.

In fact there’s so many unused homes that exist in the United States that we could give every homeless person we have here a house and there would still be over a million houses empty. People dislike housing being an investment but it's a good one because no one builds enough houses so supply is always restricted. Build more and prices will go down it just seems so obvious

As a lifelong Canadian, agree 100% with you, this place went nuts last 3 years and has many other problems as well. Canada is trading on it;s name which is long since peaked and Canada doesn;t seem to figure that people have options and will go where they're treated best.

Seems fine to me. People need to look in the mirror and their spending habits. People focus on WANTS and forget about NEEDS, and many spend beyond their means... which should include what if situations. Those of us who spend with that in mind still have fun but when things hit the fan, we're not impacted as much. You don't have to be rich to make wise financial decisions, including where you live. But it's easier for some to point the finger at government, companies, certain segments of the population, etc. versus looking in the mirror first.

We have a leader who seems to be deeply invested in shutting down our oil and gas industry. He shut down oil and gas. Which put hundreds of people out of work. Then he slapped us with a carbon tax. He told us the carbon tax dollars would be invested toward producing green energy projects and manufacturing jobs. So far, the Carbon tax went up again, he banned plastic straws, he’s hitting our farmers with heavy restrictions on fertilizer, because it’s not green enough. \nMany of our indigenous communities have been living for years with contaminated water. He promised he was going to ensure the indigenous communities have access to clean drinking water. He has not fulfilled that promise. \nHe’s bidding $30 billion dollars to hopefully sign a deal to manufacture electric car batteries for Volkswagen. \nHe’s investing in other projects, as well. Unfortunately, he’s only investing in eastern provinces. \nSo far, there has been no investments in western provinces yet. Many of the out of work oil and gas workers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are still waiting on the jobs they were promised. \nLow wages, high inflation, high taxes and high income housing is bringing a lot of us to our knees. \nOur leader is corrupt. It seems like every week there is another corrupt scandal he and his government are involved in. \nI can’t speak for every Canadian, but I can say with absolute certainty that a large number of us are sick and tired of our current leader. Most of us live with the hope that if our leader can get voted out. Canada may have a chance to go back to the way our beautiful country used to be.

You just can’t push yourself into Mexico or any other country that these people are coming from. You will find your self in their prisons in a heart beat and those prisons are terrible places. There a right way to enter the USA and these people are trampling on our laws and customs by doing this. America has been very kind to them and look what happening. They seem to have no regard for our laws.
