Let’s not forget that Canada already has Tariffs on American goods

I'm with you Canada Trump just used drugs for a excuse he wanted tariffs from day one . To bad their great neighbors .

On behalf of all Americans with an active brain i do sincerely apologize for the dumb tariffs imposed by Trump and Musk and i hope that after Trump leaves office we can get someone who understands tarrifs and its effects and who will revoke this tariffs and restore the healthy America and Canada relationship once again.

What specific actions by Canada would stop the tariffs?
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Canada started a trade war a long time ago. \nDairy Products:\nCheese - 245%\nMilk - 270%\nButter - 298%\nPoultry - 238%\nEggs - 163%\nBarley - 160%\nWheat - 94%\nSugar - 265%\nPeanut Butter - 295%\nRice - 150%\nVegetables - 100%\nFish Products - 100%\nLumber - 20%\nShoes - 30%\nCocoa - 30%\nMetals - 25%\nWool - 30%\nTobacco - $100+% \n\nTrump is actually being VERY NICE with a 25% tariff.

Canada isn’t the problem here, Mexico is. The only country that deserves the tariffs is Mexico, they’ve been playing in our faces forever with the drug smuggling and the illegal immigration. Canada has been a great ally. This is really stupid.

I notice none of you are looking at the tariffs that Canada has placed on the US for years. Surface thinkers, I have no respect for you.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
You and your country are admirable! I am an American and I completely oppose what the Trump administration is doing with these tariffs. I will be buying Canadian and Mexican whenever possible, and have changed my European vacation plans to spend my vacation dollars in Canada this spring and in Mexico this fall.\n\nI am impressed with the alternative trade agreements Canada is developing. Too many Americans are willfully ignorant and do not understand the negative effects that tariffs and trade wars have. They will learn soon enough!

Justin Trudeau has been forced to step down! \nCanada charges 25% tariff for all US goods exported into Canada! You notice how the ex Prime Minister doesn’t mention that this is a reciprocal tariff Canada charges us 25% for anything in the US export to them and some farm items they refuse to allow in their country! With that said! Justin Trudeau is a huge hypocrite, Tyrant, Dictator!

What the heck does Putin have on Donnie? Was it pedophilia on Epstein's Island? was it sex with boys and girls? Was it the mythical pee tapes? Whatever it is it has to be big enough to get Donnie to break with all the US's traditional allies which has to be making Putin rub his hands with glee. How far does this adjudged rapist, and 34 count felon that the US decided it wanted to make it's President, have to go before someone steps in and say that Trump represents a clear and \npresent danger to the economic and military security of the world? His administration forced New York's director of the FBI to resign because that man did not want to give up the names of personnel who investigated the Jan 6 insurrectionists. He put a known Russian apologist, Tulsi Gabbard, in charge. He has frozen aid to a country actively fighting for it's very survival against an aggressive and expansionist Russia. He applied tariffs against Canada and threatens the same against Europe., he has banned the freedom to protest in colleges though he freed people imprisoned for rising in actual insurrection against the Government. Dictatorship comes in steps isolation from the world and suppression of freedoms are but two. The free world weeps for what the US is becoming under this current administration.

Sadly there never was anything we could do to prevent tariffs. We should retaliate and when they retaliate we retaliate and let this go off the roads. We cannot back down to this idiot President. At same time we should be making neither deals with Europe and close out the arrogant USA corrupt government. Canada first initiatives and less reliant in them. Focus on Mexico and Europe and fuck those pricks.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Trump will also increase Canada's tariff by 25% too ?????
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
As a German I believe that the European Union needs to apply his significant power to encounter this madness . Europe should welcome Canada into the Union. Together we are stronger and will successfully counter those tariffs. Let’s start by turning off all those social platforms from the states which are doing more bad than good for years!
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Ahahahaha what idiot puts tariffs on their own exports, that's basically shooting themselves in the foot economically. Good job Canada, this will definitely work, you should increase them even.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
If Canada doesn't want tariffs, then don't charge tariffs on us too, Canada has been charging us tariffs for the longest.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
SLAVA UKRAINE and GOD BLESS CANADA from a US Citizen who is already feeling the affects in his work place because of this BS Tariff! Steel prices going up are causing us to raise our prices on our products made of steel which is everything we make!\n\nTO ALL US CITIZENS! Write your representatives and let them have it!!!!!

Maybe Trudeau can use the tariff incomes to expand Canadas military? I suggest pilot training and recruitment in the RCAF and RCN.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
The tariffs are reciprocal. If they want lower tariffs with the US they need to lower their tariffs. Screw Canada
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Retract the Carbon tax immediately in Canada. Dah. Put a 100% tariff on Tesla.
|

If you believe a word of Trudeau you are blind he is as for left as they get and he has done more to ruin his country than tariffs ever will maybe Trudeau shouldn’t have legalized drugs he is side tracking his pro drug usage i thought he resigned the drug problem in Canada is by far greater than he will admit

Many of us understand and appreciate Canada’s position. The orange buffoon and his minions are not smart, they are selfish, greedy and hateful. They are working to complete their project using the destruction of this country as payment. Many of us are helplessly watching this country crash and burn. Tariffs are gonna cost us dearly! MAGA congratulations this is what you voted for!

Beware there is absolutely no doubt DON-OLD is going to try and bleed Canada to annix it! This is DON-OLDs end goal!! ???? \nWe need to form a protest coast to coast set a date and time, wearing anything Canadian and signs to dhow DON-OLD what we really think about becoming 51st state and tariffs! \nCome on Canadians let fight, fight, fight!! ?✊??????\n\nresistance

I hate Trudeau as a Canadian I would love to see Poilievre take over for Canada, But i don't see what options other than retaliatory tariffs. Trudeau did the right thing really the only thing in regards to this as much as it pains me to say.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
If tariffs don't work why does Canada intend to use them in retaliation??
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
As an Ohioan living on the Lake Erie border with Canada for 23 years, I am a best friend of your nation and your citizens! Canada is a great friend to the United States! Our President is wrong in thinking that tariffs will accomplish anything good for Americans or the world’s citizens!
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
As an American, I don’t support Trump and am embarrassed and ashamed these tariffs are happening. Not all Americans support Trump. Canada is still a friend and ally to me. Trump is a terrible, ignorant person.
|

BTW Mexico is NOT a friend CNN lol - Tariffs on mexico im fine with Canada doesnt need any
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Canada, please just focus on your refugee crime first. and Chinese raising real estate price. that is number one problem. stop using tariff to cover up bad leadership led Canada to today’s crisis. tariff will only affect little bit but crime and rocket high house price.
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Suffer Canada. You've added tons of tariffs on American products in the past and you're still doing it. Get your leftist act together. And you voted for Trudeau so that speaks for itself. Go cry to the choir.

Canada has a very important “CARD” in the table. Invite China to be your business partner and invest heavily in your country and you won’t suffer anything because China is a super power too. Just change direction, it doesn’t matter where the wealth comes as long as you are working in partnership. China China China! That is a language Trump really understand. If you don’t do that then these tariffs will harm your people so don’t let that happen. Invite CHINA now! As much as I don’t like China I wouldn’t think I’d be watching this nonsense and bully behavior from our president.

Canada charges a 300% tariff on some US goods. When are we going to talk about that?
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
It's a pure disgrace to see what Trump's tariffs are doing to healthy relations with Canada and Mexico.\n\nWatching that deplorable play between Trump, Vance, and Zelensky was extremely disappointing and bankrupt of too much to get into here. \n\nMany were hopeful that a more conservative administration would put a stop to the considerable wokeness and far left agenda, however it's clear the Trump administration is about personal gain, control, and more elite power. What Trump's doing is NOT about survival/progress/peace, but absolute Hegemony! ❤??

When does Trudeau leave office? Canadians don't want him. Trump expects more effort at controlling immigration at the Canadian border which Trudeau has not done. He is the reason there is tariffs on Canada today!
|

How can one even measure the decrease in Fentanyl coming from Canada. Ridiculous excuse for creating a stupid trade war. What is the benefit of all these Tariffs, seems to be just downsides.

It is dustbin Trudeau who brought Canada's economy to the ground without any US tariff, and he is in his way out after losing support from his own party. He can say anything he wants, but the damage is already done.

CNN cut out what our Prime Minister ?? was going to say as to the real reason why we are getting hit with Tariffs which is this,,,to economicaly cripple us so Trump can Annex Us,,Take over Canada,,,,we have what Trump wants,,Our minerals, water, rich resources,,,he wants to be like Putin his idol,,,,That is the real plan Americans,,,please wake up to this and get him out of office ,,,your country is slowly becoming a dictatorship brick by brick under Trump and his regime,,,

Trump is talking out of his ass. We are responsible for less than 1% of fentanyl. We pay more money to states than states pays to us. We helped with 911, their wars and their California fires. We invested Canadian money, & time & lost Canadian lives. When is USA paying us back ???? . \n\nTrump has sold USA to Russia. He is their puppet. \n\nThese tariffs will tank USA economy. \n\nCanada will be hit, but we will survive and thrive. \n\nTrump has united Canada. We will buy Canadian, support Canadians and create more Canadian jobs. We need to keep boycotting anything American. We need to raise prices to all products going to USA on top of tariffs & consider not selling some products. We need to make relationships with other countries who support Canada. We have pressure minerals, and oils. Let them figure out how to get them when Canada steps back.

Also awfully funny how y'all were perfectly ignorant when Joe Biden was increasing the tariffs against everywhere else when Donald Trump left the last time he didn't remove them he added on to them and increased them and y'all didn't say anything about it then. You'll act like this is the first time anybody's ever heard of tariffs and yet Canada already had it against us we already had it against them just like every other country. Tariffs are just a fancy government word for interest and as long as those interests are aligned and in favor for Democrats tariffs are okay but when they're not all of a sudden they're not okay again.

I'm usually reasonable enough to realize that while I may disagree with many policy decisions, there's usually a relatively coherent line of thought to back said actions up. The problem here is that there’s no clear logic behind using tariffs as a tool to curb fentanyl trafficking or immigration. I'm not going to speak on the issue of immigration at the Canadian border because there simply is none. Yes, there are illegals from Canada, but almost 100% of them are from overstaying visas rather than crossing the border unlawfully. So let's talk about fentanyl. \n\nMost fentanyl in the US originates from China, often in precursor form, and is then processed in Mexico before being smuggled into the states. But it's typically trafficked in small, high potency quantities, often hidden in legitimate shipments or through mail, and only on very rare occasions is it being brought in by individuals crossing the border. It has _never_ been documented to have shipped in as part of large scale commercial imports, so a 25% tariff on legal trade with Canada and Mexico doesn’t directly target the black market supply chain at all.\n\nIf we take Trump’s reasoning at face value, the argument seems to be that he wants to exert economic pressure on Mexico and Canada as a means of having them crack down harder on drug trafficking networks. But the issue is that fentanyl simply isn’t coming in through mass import channels, so all this looks like is a punitive measure without a clear mechanism to actually achieve its stated goal. And the implications? Drastically higher costs for consumers in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with absolutely nothing to show for it.

I stand with Canada and Mexico. Tariffs created by Nazi maga and not the true american people.

Oh no mention of the Fact that Canada's Tariffs are 3 Times higher on us!! Do the research people.

Hope Europe will react just as firm and determined as Canada has when tariff eventually applied to EU products. Well done Canada
|
| 2025-03-04 | 0 |
Sure! Here’s a version that sticks closer to yo\n\nWhen Canada imposed reciprocal tariffs on the U.S., who do you think felt the bigger hit? The U.S. has a much stronger economy, so it could absorb the impact better than Canada. Same thing with Russia—almost every major country hit them with sanctions, yet their economy is growing at an estimated 4%, faster than most. This just shows that economic strength and resilience matter more than just who imposes tariffs or sanctions.

So you had to hurt Canada by putting a tariff on their stuff so we can pay more for our product that we buy from them? I would say just let them pay more on our stuff and go from there.
|

i have stepped up my purchases of Canada and Mexican goods. tariffs be damned.

Funny how a lot of Canadians complained about Trudeau, the wokeness etc. Albeit reasonably so, Practically praising Trump, until these idiotic tariffs. Now we have Canada united and in a fighting patriotic mood against Trump. UK probably gonna go the same way thanks to Vance. A lesson in hubris.
