Immigrants are so massive, that is scary mostly in big cities, we don't have this problem in the countryside. It is so rare to see new comers that had choose to work and live into 40 000 population city like mine. They are very welcome, we lack so much on workforce in every jobs and it is much more easy to find a place to stay. The biggest problem isn't immigration, it is those new jobs opportunities created when we still don't have workers to fill the gap elsewhere who need it most!\nAlso. immigrants to tends to choose living and working in cities as Montreal, Vancouver or Toronto. Canada isn't limited in those cities. Towns, countryside are options, the living cost of rent is lower, house cost less and driving 30minutes to 1 hour on the road to go work is what most does Canadian.

High cost is not an appropriate reason for leaving Canada because if we have enough salary, we can buy the groceries other than buying and rent housing. However, yiu can buy a car. We have two cars.

If they genuinely want to stop illegal immigration, why not make life difficult for them, instead going nuts on arresting and deportation that cost a lot, maybe stop illegals to get a job, renting a room, buying a car, getting mortgage, having driving licenses would be more effective and would cost way less.

Moved here from Ireland (which has it's own issues) in 2011 but really thinking of leaving in 2024. Feels like I'm living in India, plus cost of living is increasing all the time...gas prices, interest rates, rent, utilities, car insurance, etc...... Canada is pretty much in the toilet now.

Illegals don't pay any tax. They get money from the Biden/Harris administration, costing billions to the average US taxpayers. They contribute next to nothing and take enormous amounts.And some have ordered American children and raped hundreds .\n\nYes many are economic migrants are just looking to improve their lives , but even they put enormous pressure on school places, waste deposal, rent prices, and wages, but they help multi nationals, and millionaires with huge property portfolios more than they do the average American.

The West, especially in Europe, is trying to increase their GDP by selling dreams to immigrants: get high-salary jobs in EU. When immigrants come, they can't find jobs but they have to consume food, rent house anyway, for 6-12 months. At the end, they can't find jobs and have to leave. Suddenly, those people will have already given a lot of money to the local European country. What cost the European country? Nothing, except some piece of paper. ?

who will clean the toilets and change the rooms in the high priced hotel rooms for 5$ hour. americans would have to live homeless on the streets on those wages and we know how republicans hate that. this will have a devastating effect on large business and food distribution chains. they were hiring illegals because they could ignore the laws regarding employees rights in working conditions and overtime. not just underpaying them but having them work under illegal conditions some using the field as their bathrooms. this will end badly and they will blame the other party for the fall out as usual. part of the minimum wage increase act was due to the fact the wages didn't match the cost of living. people couldn't afford to pay rent so they live in their car or on the streets and steal if necessary to make ends meet. these were americans doing this not illigals. people in the red states that voted for this will be the first to get burned as usual. it was the democratic party that offered the safety net for those red states.

Moved to Canada in 2013. I lived in Vancouver and Toronto already. \n\nGraduated from Uni, started working and it all went to shit in 2019. Rent costs like im living in a fcking castle when its a 1 bedroom. Eating out costs like im in a michelin star restaurant when its just a low quality food with extremely limited options. Dont even make me start on taxes, which are at least 20% from\nPaycheque, 13% on any other sht u buy, so 33% if u make almost nothing. \nThis country is a shit hole. And yall saying just leave, i will leave, but you will end up with uneducated immigrants, even higher rent (mortgage is even more expensive now) and quality of everything below third world countries. \nSo shut the fck up and open your eyes. Too tolerant and too ignorant mfers.

When I moved to Canada around 30years ago, it was the time when it was possible to rent a studio for 500$/month, the cost of living was fine and we could even have some saving. For the last couple years, it ‘s worst and worst, criminality, homeless, rent and buy appt are too over expensive.\nWhen you accept 1 million new immigrants a year and some they don’t accept Canada with their value. \nWhat do you except ? Now , it’s a mass and it becomes unfriendly. People sticks with their own community and with their own problems from overseas.

I dont know wtf is this. My friend moved to Montreal , pretty quickly got a studio for 600 euro near downtown. And she says the minimum wage is enough to cover all expenses, and she is new there. She likes it there more than in Dubai, and she had a great and well-paid job in Dubai.\nYes, canada can still do better and should have higher salaries or at least lower cost of house rent. But come on, mist contries cant offer even survival on average salary! \nOK TORONTO AND VANQUVER are expensive but there are other cities where u can survive. Its bwtter than nothing. I am a born and raised Canadian and have seen my country go downhill for at least the last couple of decades.\nHealth Care: doctors and nurses are moving Stateside in droves. No, the US doesn’t have universal health care but there are insurance plans and the care is enormously better. My girlfriend had 4th stage throat cancer. In Calgary the doctors at some point told her there was nothing more they could do for her and to get her affairs in order. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. This is no longer the case.\nEverything is very expensive and the tax very high. Plus, we have to suffer winter! Where I live, the joke is that we have two seasons - July and winter!\nI still like my city (not love) but I am retired and own two houses - one inherited and the other bought when it was affordable (32 years ago). Calgary would not be a place I would live if I was a newcomer. Vancouver is beautiful but you really pay for it. \nTrudeau has helped make a big mess of things with immigration and lax criminal laws. My beef is not with immigrants I must state - it is with the lack of jobs for them when they come, thereby forcing bad living conditions and an over reliance on the social systems. I add that the immigration population is much more willing to work in jobs they have to take (despite a high education) than our natural and bloated citizens.\nSo yes, Canada has increasingly gone downhill. On a positive note, hand guns at least are not legal and our country has beautiful natural land.

Thanks to the Government allowing foreigners to buy up Canadian property starting in the 80s, then they kicked out existing tenants, jacked up the rent and rented to other foreigners. That started homegrown landlords to do the same thing. The cost of living increased every year as the minimum wage stayed frozen for several years. Our own government destroyed everything good that Canada was, pre 1985.

A Canadian from Mississauga. I left in 2012, bought a home in the heart of Istanbul Turkey for just $35,000, and now I'm living rent free, with my total basic cost of living (food, metro, internet, gas, electricity) just $280 a month, and I'm not even compromising on anything. I work online and spend only %5 of what I make on living expenses, but in Canada, I would be in the minus on the same salary.\n\nThe amount of stress when you no longer ever have to pay a rent again was all worth moving out, not to mention the depressing Canadian weather.

Wow the entitlement is mind-boggling. If that is the attitude that people have coming here on a temporary Visa. 33 years ago I had a temporary work reason to work in the UK I worked six days a week paid rent paid bills and we built a business that hired other people and put money back into the economy. I can’t imagine being out in the streets protesting it to the UK government that I haven’t been pretty to the privileges of people that were born and bred in the country and were there before me in Ontario we definitely do not have housing available. The cost of housing for a room is $1000 a month outside of the city, basement apartment is 2000 and Condo, one bedroom and den is about 3000. I’m not sure what jobs students are expecting when employment is not at all-time high and the healthcare system is already strained and failing people that need vital surgeries. Seniors are waiting three months for an MRI and students that were born here are having trouble finding employment because entry jobs are given to immigrants we are approaching UK and Ireland crisis levels, it’s not about racism. We don’t have the infrastructure.

Rent has gone up, food costs, gas, medication. That's all we can afford. So more people out on the streets. At this time, there is a world wide immigrate problem causing more homelessness. We faced over millions from Mexico and NYC got immigrants from all over the world. The city is trashed. Ohio got thousands of Hattis people. Europe has immigrants from Africa and Asia. Our country and other countries have absolutely no infrastructure and funds to support these people. Ohio is asking for government assistance. The solution now is strict immigration laws and border laws. Everyone that is not a USA citizen must be sent back to their country. Visa cards. Passports. Hungary has the top security system (google) to keep immigrants out of the country. Worse. Thief and crime have skyrocketed! Everyone in NYC are robbing anyone they see and stores are\nclosing. They don't get arrested because anything under $1000 is not a criminal offense. The USA needs to get a grip! These people are asking for handouts, which means the USA poor will not get benefits. It is not just Canada. USA people are getting out of the cities! This is a world wide crisis. Say your prayers. We really need a savior to show up!

Do you know where the tax money goes to illegal immigrants who defame your country and even want to destroy and hate you? They get a pension for two years and get an apartment for two years with paid rent and also a supermarket money card. The people are the ones who rule, not one person. NO!\n\n3- Did the Canadian government provide the newly arrived immigrants with a sufficient monthly payment, including the rent of a house befitting human dignity, balanced and sufficient nutrition expenses, summer and winter clothing, daily transportation costs within the city, monthly house bills, communication and correspondence expenses, equal and sufficient education payment, cultural activities and a daily pocket money so that they can live humanely?...... NO!\n\n4- Did the Canadian government provide the newly arrived immigrants with a solid, safe and clean social structure where they can live freely without any risk to themselves and their families, where they feel completely safe and without any fear, anxiety and concern in terms of attack and crime?....... NO!\n\n5- Did the Canadian government provide the newly arrived immigrants with a democratic state and a fair social society structure where there is no racism, discrimination, inequality of opportunity, favoritism, incompetence and harassment, whether covert or overt?........ NO!\n\n6- Did the Canadian government grant any right to vote or be elected to immigrants who came to the country legally during their stay in Canada until they became citizens, did they give them the right to vote for the party or people who would govern them, did they give them the right to vote at least in local elections other than general elections? ....... OF COURSE NO!\n\nTHEN, the Canadian State and its government do not have the right to say a single word about immigrants, and the Canadian State should now prepare the trillions of dollars that the immigrants themselves will pay as a result of the compensation lawsuits they will file against all these human rights violations that the state has implemented against immigrants for years, in a planned and systematic manner, unfairly and mercilessly. The Canadian government has deliberately left the immigrants it has accepted into the country, whether they are illegal or legal, hungry, helpless, unemployed and poor, has implemented all kinds of racism, discrimination and harassment against immigrants, has torn families apart, has never allowed them to feel safe in Canada, has not taken any timely, appropriate, necessary and primary duty measures to ensure this, and has done all these within the scope of its fully conscious and previously established anti-immigrant policies and the plans and programs to which those policies belong, because otherwise it could not use and exploit immigrants to their core, in this sense, it is the Canadian State itself that is carrying out human smuggling and immigrant trafficking.

For me as a German 28% taxes with an income of 63000$ a year, are seeming very low. Here in Germany you have to pay about 20% for social security + taxes. If you earn about 30000$ a year you have to pay about 10% income tax + 19% value added taxes + 20% for social security.\nIf you earn 63000$ you have to pay about 40% taxes + social security and value added taxes.\n\nBut when I did hear the costs just for rent, people in Canada have to pay, I understand that even 28% are hard.\nI am renting a 2 room appartment for 500$ in a normal town and I think from what I did hear, I would have a higher standard of living, even if I earn 1500$ after taxes a month, which is a low income, if you're working full time in Germany.\n\nAnd if I would live in a more expensive town or city, the country would help me with my rent, if I have a low income.

The Century Initiative at work under Trudeau's government, no matter the cost to average Canadians. Getting over a million newcomers a year, with our population climbing at over 3% a year. Population is climbing faster than GDP and it's been seven quarters of GDP per capita falling while rent and average house prices keep skyrocketing. \n\nThis place went from fine to terrible in the span of a decade, just because Trudeau and his buddies think we need 100m people in Canada by 2100, otherwise we'll be doomed. In his mind, it doesn't matter what happens to the rest of us, what matters is the goal. \n\nThis is nothing short of the complete and utter dismantling of Canada under the Libs/NDP, as we go from the envy of the world to a non-developed country. It is actually insane.

What govs don't talk about is that all of the emigration goes into few cities only , so it's not spread out on whole population of Canada.\nAnd that bumps especially the prices for in lower costs rents which then bumps the whole market (even outside main cities)\nThis what creates all the issues

This is ridiculous. The majority of the homeless are homeless because they don't want to work the jobs. As a greenhouse manager, the local people don't want to work the jobs that the foreign workers work which is why we are required to bring them in in the first place. I have had many local workers try working in the greenhouse only to quit within weeks because they couldn't handle the work or even the heat that is required. So how are we supposed to depend on local people to do the work? The would be a worker turnover every 3 - 6 weeks. With this program we can bring in people who WANT to do the work because its a better opportunity for them than what they have back home. This is NOT the way to fix the homeless problem. High rent, high taxes and high economic standards are the cause of eat. People cant AFFORD to buy food, pay for living costs and even survive in todays society. This foreign worker programs ALLOWS us to get the work done. \n\nForeign workers brought in on the SAWP program or even low skill program aren't stealing job, they are doing the work that Canadians don't WANT to do as they can't handle it or even believe it's beneath them. Todays youth will never do the work that these people do for us. I respect the work that they do. I would love ANYBODY in the comments below to come to my farm in the middle of summer and spend 8 - 10 hours under the sun for a week and then see what their opinion is.

TFW here, east Asian, a couple of things:\nI am paid the provincial minimum wage, and work in the dairy industry, medium sized farm.\nI started working straight out of high school\n\nFrom what I can see and hear from across the province and largely in the western Canadian provinces, older generation farmers are at the retirement age, but the younger generation is generally very reluctant to take over. \nNot all industries, but definitely in livestock, people sometimes don't realize that, there is literally no breaks, ever! You work every day, holidays, Christmas, and if you do chose to take a few days off, your co-workers, i.e. other family members or workers, have to take up the extra workload. You barely have time for your family, you are often tired around your kids. Farmers have some of the highest suicide rates among all occupations, as well as a difficulty to find partners due to the nature of their jobs.\nThe work is hard, days long, especially during harvests, and if the ever more expensive tractors, equipment fail...\nThere used to be a lot of family owned farms, over the last few decades most have sold their generational farm and left the industry, most because of the cost to operate and because the next generation's unwillingness to take over.\nYong people my age have not been seen applying for my position in a few years now, despite ongoing hiring effort at significantly higher than minimum wage, and I have repeatedly stated that I, although love my job, am ready to step aside at any point so a Canadian PR or citizen can take my position, as required by worker rules. There were a few inquiries from neighboring areas, mostly made by parents, but their children in the end all refused to work, even part time, or seasonal.\n\nOn the other hand, there is the issue of prices: equipment costs have largely more than doubled since the pandemic, grain prices rose... and all that on top of the constant uncertainty of the weather every planting and harvesting season. Most farms don't ever make a profit after the yearly operating cost is deducted from earnings, and the little profit that on occasion appear, goes right back into paying debt or reinvesting in renewing long overdue old equipment.\n\nMy position, and all those similar to mine in agriculture, are in all fairness, very low skilled, with minimum training, and therefore is only worth minimum wage, in my opinion. I was actually offered a higher amount but in the end turned it down because on the job, I discovered the only thing I bring to the table is manual labor (I know that's not really the right way to go about wages, but I do believe that wages should be based on the irreplaceableness of one's skills, and as it stands, although no replacements were ever found, I am very much easily replaceable, skill wise). That, compared to a slightly better paid Starbucks position, with benefits (most farm workers and owners don't have benefits or pension, yes owners too), air conditioning, regular work hours. I mean, if it wasn't for my particular interest for agriculture I'd pick Starbucks any day too!\n\nI think a couple issues are at hand, \n1. Most of agriculture's profit ends up in the corporate processing and supermarkets, that needs to change, workers could benefit, as well as consumers, from distributing that profit between farmers and shoppers.\n2. Agriculture in today's context no longer fit the modern life, although I strongly think that A LOT of people can benefit from getting their hands dirty once in a while and sweating a bit, improve physical and mental health, have better discipline all that jazz. So foreign workers are the temporary solution, if well regulated so that Canadian PR and citizens are ALWAYS prioritized for hire and at a fair wage. This cannot happen unless farmers can turn a profit, stated in point 1.\n3. A new generation of farmers are needed to take over, and they need to be somehow convinced that it is worth the toil, because as it stands, it is not, financially, life style wise. Automation is one solution, although therein lies the huge, foreseeable risk of corporate takeover.\n4. On a specific note, TFW does mandate that workers are provided up to standard housing (not always followed), which puts local workers at a huge disadvantage if they are commuting to work and paying rent, although that rarely happens, and the majority of farms do offer housing to all.\n\n\nI am aware that me being treated up to regulation is not the norm among my TFW peers, which is quite sad and unacceptable. But in my opinion, even if given a leveled playing field, wages , conditions, housing, etc. Canadian citizens and PRs largely will be unable to meet the demand for these jobs, from unwillingness to work really hard physically, unwillingness to live the lifestyle, wanting a career with better prospects... these are harsh words, but I believe to be true, and they also come from a lot of older generation farmers talking about their children and grandchildren. \n\nThis is just in the agri industry, and from what I hear from farmers from all over western Canada : )

Nowadays, people are obtaining Canadian passports only to leave for the USA or Australia. This shift reflects broader issues within the country. The system seems to have become overly reliant on immigration, with a focus on colleges, low wages, and real estate. These factors have contributed to the challenges we face today, including an overheated housing market and a cost of living that has spiraled out of control.\n\nOne of my main concerns is how these changes have opened the door for scammers. Fraudulent colleges, language courses, real estate schemes, and bogus immigration assistance have become rampant. It feels like the system has allowed space for people to exploit others with false promises, turning a blind eye to the very real impact on people's lives.\n\nThis situation could have been avoided if stricter measures were implemented earlier. The process for obtaining Canadian PR or citizenship shouldn’t be as easy as it is today. By tightening these controls, we could have prevented the rise of these exploitative practices and maintained the value and integrity of what it means to be Canadian.

It's so bad in New Brunswick that people who were born here are becoming homeless because the gready landlords are doubling rent and they cannot afford to pay it and get evicted. There is no work here for us let alone anyone else. No one person can work full time at 15.00 per hour and afford rent. It has to stop. The crime rate is so bad than it was 3 years ago and as for the food cost example 5.09 for a dozen eggs. 4.99 for a loaf of bread. It just goes on and on. The government need to fix their mess before it's to late.

The cost of living is so high now in canada… grocery, housing etc,\nthat I’m thinking to selling all my belongings and buy an RV vehicle. In winter (mid-November to April) I would go to British Columbia. I wouldn’t have to pay a rent or a mortgage.

This is little to do with ( Indians) , as an ozzy, we have had 3 consecutive years with the Einsteins in office letting 3 times as many immigrants into the country, Whilst we have a housing crisis. It is a fact that Australia has become a rich man's playground with most housing in the vicinity of 500 K to 1 million AUD and over in most parts of the country. Paris is now cheaper than Parramatta.\nThis coupled with the high interest rates and cost of living have crippled many of the middle class, with many cities fighting over a flat for rent; at times over 100 people fight over 1 property. We have working families some with children living in tents or cars, all the while multiple large construction companies which build the houses are collapsing like flies.\nWe have taken an influx of (refugees) who have taken it upon themselves to have disruptive protests in the streets to show their unwavering gratefulness to our patronage. They expect by protesting and disrupting our business that they will somehow get our leaders to stop the war in Israel. \nBenny Netanyahu has made up his mind that killing his people was a really bad idea, and he is going to get every last bad tooth out ! Despite what our despots say.\nThis has pissed the normal swagman in the streets off no end ! Little do they realise, that even if we the Serfs had a week long protest to stop the government making stupid decisions, it would not deter them for a minute !

They are international students not immigrants. At the same time Indian students in particular have been sold the Canadian dream and once arriving in canada they are shocked by cost of living in canada. They end up working low income jobs, barely afford rent and food. This is not something experienced by Indian students only but by all students. Canada is in undeclared recession, the labour market has slowed down while cost of living has surged.

Vancouver seems so cheap to me coming from Bangkok. I’m relocating to Vancouver from Bangkok. But my situation is different. I have an extremely high living standard in Bangkok which costs a fortune. Vs that’s just the baseline in Vancouver. People don’t realize how good they have it in Canada. In Bangkok, even if you’re wealthy you have to import your food to avoid Chinese counterfeit and microplastics and spend like $2 grand a month on electricity for medical grade air filters to deal with the pollution issue. My rent in Bangkok is $15k / month. Vs I can get the equivalent in Vancouver for $5-$6k/ month. So seems really cheap to me. Food is a lot cheaper than buying organic in Bangkok too.

After I moved to Germany I realized that people in general do not have freedom. Yes you have the freedom to shape your life, Germany is not an autocratic country, however the hardness of life forces you to follow certain paths. Even the smallest changes you make brings a lot of bureucratical burden and risk. That is why you live a llmited life. \n\nAs expats we changed jobs several times to find better opportunities but Germans do not change much. I asked the reason and they answered establishing a life is very hard here, so after you manage it you try to maintain it. These guys were not happy with their jobs but cannot change it because it cost a lot. I living in Australia in Sydney and we are not bad yet but I can see we going that direction . To buy property the price tag cost around million dollars and more ? and everything going more expensive ! It is even difficult to find renting property \nAs results the homeless is growing and going to be worse !

A senior dev in Bulgaria gets 2000-3000 NET. After taxes in Germany, well, he will get a little less. 2. Cost of living in Germany is much higher- rents, energy(because of green policies and taxes), services(because of costly labor), etc. \nImagine a budget of 1000-1500 eur to give you a nice apartment(400-500), bills, food and bars/restaurants 1-2 times per week. With a net salary of 2500 eur(average for qualified jobs in the capital) you can save 1000 eur or more with ease. With almost no illegals security, standard of living, etc is close to german. That is why qualified bulgarians do not go to Germany anymore. Same comparison can be done with all other EU contries. \nBecause of socialist policies for equal payment, high taxes, etc even germans leave Germany. What was the number? I think I saw more than 100000 qualified germans leaving each year. But why stay? To be taxed so that an engineer gets 1.5-2 times the janitor? With german social security unemployed get more than many working people. Indians creating quick access to permanent resident schemes in Canada is an issue.\n\nStill, so much of the population earns under $50k where they cost the govt more than they contribute. There isn’t enough housing for all Canadians excluding all temporary students. \n\nThe problem is that to be “nice” and hand out PR is political suicide for the liberals because all Canada felt this impact. Every year the housing going up 10-25% as there are so few rentals. \n\nEven Canadians who never voted right wing in their lives will vote conservatives next election and not out of racism, but self survival (food, rent, employment, community health)

HighTaxes, insanely increasing cost of living and statis salary (no payraise in last 3 years), free but poor health service atleast at GPs... most of them are good for nothing except for writing you 5 days to sick note )..and fading jobs in IT sector for non-German speaking (no interviews after 1000+ job applications in 4 months) and no job security .. half of people I know have been laid-off atleast once in last 3 years (good that they got 60% of their salary for 1 year but that is not good enough to survive in such an expensive country).... Rent increases 20% every year and services (repair etc) are crazy expensive... It is extremely hard to manage here ... thinking of moving out as soon as I get an option

Many in the working and middle classes are leaving. The cost of a home in nice communities in America averages over 1M Dollars. Tiny, old, fixer-upper homes in America average around $500,000 or more. The average rent for a very small apartment is over $1,500. Rents for apartments in upscale neighborhoods average around $3,500-$7,500 a month. Increasing cost of living in America is a problem. Some working people making average pay are living in their vehicles. Others making well over $100,000/year are leaving because they will not overspend on housing. People are moving to Mexico, Panama, South America, France, Portugal, Spain, Eastern Europe, Greece, Asia, etc. for affordable cost of living.

Best of luck wherever you choose to go. Cost of living is a huge issue in Europe too - rents, food, property prices and so many other costs have spiralled out of control. The UK is particularly tough right now and most people experience a rude awakening when they come here - particularly London. Plus we have riots and real racial tensions now. I would not recommend anyone come to the UK unless they are wealthy.

Same in Australia, insane rent and as for buying a house ! The bank of Mum and Dad is only going to go so far ,living costs ,petrol and idiot climate change solutions have wrecked the lucky country .Im off back to Czech Republic where I lived for 19 years very soon.

Unfortunately, this problem is happening in many countries. I live in California, and the price of housing is become a crisis. There are many homeless people. \nIt costs so much to build housing nowadays, that people cannot afford to buy or rent houses after they are built. The developers want to sell the houses for market value, which many people cannot afford. There is no easy solution to this problem.

So many Canadians in the same situation — perhaps use your Canadian passport ? so many better places for you to be… find a nice job across the border in the US — it’s so easy to get a TN work Visa, or work tax free in the UAE, or build a nice career in Singapore. I had the same problem with Australia — it’s my home, and my heart will always fondly call it home forever. Australia is a big country with small job market, generally ignorant (but nice) people and limited economic diversity. One gets proper civic amenities only in either Melbourne or Sydney e.g., top notch medical care, a wide variety of groceries etc. Taxation is very high and although some people will tell you “we are well taken care of…” that is not true nowadays. The Australian Government’s policies over the last 40 years destroyed manufacturing, the economy, working conditions and inflated the property market. A reasonable 2-bedroom apartment in a Sydney suburb could cost you Au$2000-3000 in rent or Au$500,000+ to buy — and that goes higher as you get closer to downtown Sydney. The problem is that incomes are not high enough in Australia and housing quality is less than average overall for these ridiculous prices. Food, tolls and petrol cost a lot, although Sydney and Melbourne’s fresh food markets give you better prices than you’ll find in most other cities. My wife and I had a combined income of over Au$300,000/year while we lived there. We finally left Australia and moved to the US because even with our relatively high income we could only have an average house for around Au$1.8 million, we couldn’t fill up the tub and have a proper bath because of water restrictions, our kids would get an average schooling and their only dream in life would be to one day own a house. We didn’t want to live like that, so we wrapped up and left for good. The US is much better for skilled people — I don’t mean plumbers, tilers, roofers or landscapers, although life is good for them too. I’m sure someone will reply to this comment about the gun violence in the US. All I can say is that in the US we have the option to defend ourselves whereas in Australia we are expected to quietly die if someone kicks us in the head, stabs us or shoots us. Quality of life is good here in the US for me and my family. Fly free, mate!

im lucky even tho im broke, im doing okay compared to most Canadians... I ive in Burnaby a city next to Vancouver. I pay 2050 for a 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom condo, I split the cost with a longtime friend I only make 19hr but I can afford the $1050 rent and my car insurance is only $95. If I were to look for a rental today I probably wouldnt be able to... have to maybe live in my car or move out of this city. All I know is Vancouver so that would be really tough for me.... it sucks what Canada is like in the 2020s..... too much bs

The cost of living keeps on rising while the quality of life declines more and more every single day. So many young people our age (we're about the same age) who have university degrees and have good jobs struggle to pay rent or even foresee a future where they can own a home. It's incredible how people around the world, seem to forget that most countries had shut down for two years during the pandemic, costing countries billions, the issue is the grocery chains, the ongoing confict with Ukraine and Russia, among other countries, crime has spiked, I put part of the blame on the legal system, I do hope you will stay in Canada, beats the USA, which is headed into unknown direction, Canada has very little earthquakes, volcano eruptions, typhoon, hurricanes, although Canada has had the coldest winter on the planet, we as Canadians are in most part caring countries, I also put the blame on the premiers taking money from the federal government and investing in cons, our prime minister has faults, he takes the blame for most issues in Canada, but, he better than the alternative, not sure which country you are thinking about moving to, but take in consideration of the pros and cons of your potential move, the cost of living, health care, job, vehicles, rent, wage, best of luck in your future endeavours
