I know it is a novel idea, but hear me out. What if US citizens stopped buying and importing fenthanyl? Would that not solve the problem at the border?

Canadian here- I hate Trudeau just as much as most Canadians, and as it seems most Republican Americans do as well. But I fully stand behind him at this hour. He might have shit the bed for most Canadians during his time as PM, but when it mattered he has stood up for Canada. Review the facts and educate yourself on the current situation between CAN and the US. I will be the first to admit, Canada has not done enough in terms of its own security and military, but these failures should not be the decay in our friendship as nations. The US DOES NOT subsidize Canada, it DOES NOT give money to Canada. In simple terms- the larger country, with the largest economy in the world (USA) buys more from its Northern brother, which produces vast amounts of natural resources which the larger southern country requires. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. I myself would never boo a national anthem, an anthem that millions have sacrificed to protect and defend. But I understand the pain and anger that is coming from my country. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. I do hope that in the future our relationship can heal and move forward but the current actions being taken by the American admistration are horrendus and upsetting to most of the world outside of the US. As a home owner (with a mortgage) and nearing retirement, my first reaction is that I want housing prices to remain high so I can get the most from my house when I downsize. \nHowever, my house sale is so I can downsize into a home that I can buy outright with the money I get from selling my bigger current house. If my house value goes down, I would be OK as long as the price that I would pay from a smaller home also goes down. I want to live in a home that would have no mortgage. I will only get the minimum income in retirement so I need to be in a home without a mortgage payment, if at all possible.

Canada needs to stop living beyond its means. Get rid of un-necessary ministries, involvements in private sector that isn't mandated. There been a number of suicides amongst Indian students, some have been hooked on drugs, some girls have turned to prostitution and many girls have been sexually take advantage by their Indian / Punjabi landlords and employers. The situation is dire. My advice: Stay in India, the education is better, the social life is better, the food is better, the vibe is better. Money is not everything. Being happy is. To buy an average detached home (bungalow) in Toronto / Vancouver is over C$1 million. To qualify for a mortgage with 20% down payment, one would need an income of $200,000. Why can't Canada put a double % on the US tariffs which makes from the US imported goods like cars so expensive that nobody will buy it. Yes it's a problem. Just buy those cars from Europe or Japan. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. As Trump has said he would do is make Canada pay for their own air and ground defense of their nation. For too long Canada has taken advantage of a free halo above their country complete with military hardware from the US. Once Canada is forced to provide monies to maintain and buy updated/new equipment the US will hammer them again. Canada doesn't make anything the US can't make themselves.

Been buying almost exclusively Canadian for every product i can manage since 2016. Trump thought it would hurt Canadians, it just proved to us that the US is unreliable as a partner, so long as 50% of the US population considers us as beneath them rather than partners.

If countries stop buying military equipment from the US that would be alot more retaliatory than tariffs.

The best thing you can do if you're not an American citizen or even if you are an American citizen not to buy any American products. This would include subscriptions to places like YouTube and Facebook American software food items cars etc.

consumers have choices...as well as the importers , supermarkets etc they just wont buy any Columbian products and Columbia will lose out. The Government of Columbia knows this would have happened and that's why they have already folded.

They would lose LOTS of business as US buys a ton but we also produces it’s our own. Why they already backed down in under 1 hour. \n\nTariffs are used as a weapon, not a tax, because people will stop buying and buy elsewhere. Ultimately it becomes cheaper or the same to buy US made items meaning more U.S. workers.
