I am Québécois, and things here are quite different from the rest of Canada. For example, we have a law here that clearly forbids wearing religious signs when in a position of authority. Even a teacher, because they are a figure of authority for their students, could not wear the Roman collar, a cassock, a hijab, a niqab or anything else of the sort while in school. In the streets or any other public place, there is no problem at all. Everyone is welcomed to express their difference of culture or religion in the way they dress or in whatever other way. They are treated with the same respect and kindness as anywhere else in Canada. It is only that the separation of religion and state, and religion and authority is paramount here. Everybody is free and can express themsleves freely. But don't use that freedom to impose your views onto others. \nSo, when American judges are chosen for the federal court specifically because of their christian fundamentalist biases, it doesn't resonate well at all for me or the majority of Québécois. When the rights of the LGBTQ+ community are being questioned or jeopardised. Or a previous federal judgement like Roe v Wade is being overturned for religious reasons... it is a definite turn off for all of the Québec people to even remotely consider the United States as a destination to emigrate to (supposing that one would want to leave our beautiful country).\nMore and more, America, that used to be recognized as the land of the free, appears to be retrograde and restrictive and definitely not so free.

As a black man living in Alberta you can stop with the ignorance right there. When it comes to racism I would much rather live in Edmonton or Calgary than literally anywhere in Ontario or Quebec. If this was in either of those provinces there would be way more than three people on site.

What I don’t get is America isn’t against immigrants coming to America (the legal way) but people want to protest coming here illegally and are upset people are getting deported because they didn’t come the legal way. I work with a ton of guys that came to America the legal way and are all for deporting the illegals back to where they came from. The legal immigrants work hard and pay taxes and illegals don’t pay taxes they get benefits and haven’t paid their dues like the legal immigrants had to do to get in. Taking care of illegals takes away from Americans getting the help they need and we have to pay taxes. They protest and wave the Mexico flag holding signs saying “Immigrants built America” and $hit on the things America has done for them. If they built America and are so proud to be from Mexico then why don’t you build Mexico up like you say you did in America. If it’s so great why are you coming to America illegally and running from your country. Do you think protesting and blocking streets and highways is going to get you anywhere with Trump and do you think your going to win the American people over by pissing them off doing stupid things like blocking highways and Streets. You don’t win people over by pissing them off and you don’t win Americans over Shitting on America waving your flag when this country has done more for you then your own country. If you came here illegally and broke the law then you should’ve thought about that before doing it and being put on the ICE list.Go back and by all means come back when your legally allowed and while you wait for that to happen and the papers to go through build up your own Country!

Lets keep i real. The desire that most immigrants have is homeostasis which is the familiar. All humans do this. Individually indians are usually smart and decent people. But in groups ( and this doesnt just include indians) you get this group thinking that is prejudice against anyone who isnt one of their own. Im fairly certain its a good demonstration of what a different culture would experience in their own country. This is especially noticeable in markem with the Chinese population. \n\nLet me say this loud and clear. We didnt let you come here so you could start your own countries inside of our country. That the family whos heritage is of this land, built this house that your living in. With our low corruption goverments , our clean drinking water, our free health care and education system, with our opportunities that make it possible through merit and hard work that it doesnt matter what family or where you were born. These are attractive features of canada that play a role in why people want to come here. And leave where they were. Its it logical to think that you have more to learn about us then we do of you? Not being on some selfish punk shit is canadas greatest strength. Its that same inclusives mentality that keep the government corruption very small which empowers the citizens to make them successful and able to contribute more back into this system. The very nature of hoarding resources for ones family, same culture, etc are the same oppressive situations many of these people left their countries to seek better opportunities. But once given those opportunities and a chance to decide for themselves, a lot of these people use their liberties to create exclusion and hostility toward out groups. The indians do this in a very overt in your face way, the chinese are more polite about it but both have this way of looking out for their own and not being concerned with anyone else. As far as im conerned you should all be split up and dispersered to live in different provinces and cites. I know this isnt realitic but it would save them from what a lot of them are gunna end up be exposed to which is experiences with native born Canadians who are going to very rudly show you what happens when you disrespectf someone in their own home. \n\nThe party is over. You people need to start being Canadian and care about Canadians like you care about your own culture or get the fuck out!

I have a hard time believing that our government finds so much money to allow illegals to function. I’m a veteran so I have had the opportunity to visit other countries and you can’t pull that crap anywhere but here. You can’t work or rent or anything without proper paperwork. Our government should just takeover the Mexican government and end the corruption that keeps these talented and hardworking people down so much they risk everything to get here to do what they should be able to do there. I am a newfoundlander known across the country as a NEWFIE. You ask would i give up by birthplace to move to the USA? I wouldn't consider moving to anywhere in Canada let alone move to the USA. We have health insurance which is taken care of by government, we have Dental care that's taken care of by government we have Starbucks, Tim Horton's, and all the other goodies you mentioned here or you think are goodies. We have very nice people and everyone is willing to help and not stab the neighbour in the back. We have some of the best that nature has to offer. Move? Not bloody likely.

What do you expect, when you see Indians going abroad on tourist visa, and then overstaying and doing cheap labour. Indian tourists go to developed countries with zero civic sense, complete ignorance of the local culture and norms, the people there will obviously feel disgusted, 5th largest economy my ass. Most people try to go in as tourists and never come back, then how do you expect them to give visas to Indians.

One nation can only sustain so much. The president of Columbia didn’t want his own people back. That should tell you something. Yet American media is telling us these people are vital to our economy. If they’re so vital and followed by dollar signs, why doesn’t Columbia want their own people?? Aren’t they needed to build the economy there? Wake up people. This is a serious issue. We can’t save the whole world, we simply don’t have the means. If we stay this route what will happen is we will end up in the same spot that Mexico is. You have to teach them to build properly not bring it all here. That isn’t a fix all. Once we have enough gang members, drug cartels and murders from all the other countries, we’ll become those countries, while they’ll have it good because they purged all their criminals to us. They don’t want them back, yet we’re begging them to bring their problems to us! It’s time to take this serious and worry about our own.

This is addressed mainly to the ugly Indian: My generation came to the racist west and built a golden reputation. We worked hard, assimilated, paid our taxes, and obeyed the laws. We were humble. We celebrated our native cultures within the confines of our communities. While it was frustrating to be invisible in white culture, we never sought to conquer them with our culture. We were ethical to the hilt. Our generations were poor -- yet we struggled to help others in India and in the west. We were NEVER on the dole. Personally I think it is rude to enter a nation (in the west or anywhere in the world) with naked opportunism. Speaking for myself -- despite neocolonialism, I admired western civilization, especially its older forms. \n \nBut the ugly Indian who comes now is loud, brash, socially irresponsible, exploitative, money-hungry, opportunistic, and arrogant beyond belief (full of the hubris that comes from sudden new wealth). They look down on us who have been here a while. They are used to a servant-culture and look down on white working class people, as if they are servants. As for second generation Indians in the west, they can be racist towards us first generations. But the opposite is true as well. Indian newcomers see them as an alien species. Indians do tend to hire their own and stick to their own identities -- I do not mean the Indian identity, but their native state identities. All this feeds into the primary and secondary forms of western racism that are already simmering beneath the surface. This new genre of Indians is destroying the goodwill we have built. I have personally witnessed arrogant young Indian students cutting the line to reach the front desk. No manners, no ethics. As a first generation Indian immigrant I get annoyed. Believe or not because of the behavioural issues also become one reason for rejection. Maybe not a big reason but it definitely should consider. Any immigrant who enters to a country must obey the rules and policies, respect others, environment, culture etc. in Canada from some cities other nations are moving out out due this people are trying to make here as their country in all aspects. Contrary to what you said about India rising- I beg to disagree with you. Indian workers abroad are resorting to all sorts of scams everywhere they go (apple sacking Indian workers for malpractices is the latest example). Suddenly Indian people are not welcome anywhere and the falling of our passport rankings is indicative enough. Just go to Thailand and though you are free to roam around you are not really welcome!

The problem is fear that Indians will travel to the West and not go back. Not just Indians, but Africans, South Americans and many Asian countries do the same. I've lived in the US for 55 years. There was an Indian music troop that came to the US to perform, maybe 20 people, including singers, musicians, comedians etc. After their tour in the US, half of them did not return to India. They figured they can make a better living in the US and live here as an illegal immigrant. This is too common. The next time when a troop of musicians want a US visa, chances are the immigration office will think twice about approving a visa. I can travel anywhere with a US passport because people know that Americans will return back to the US.

Sounds to me like the Indian population has taken over housing and jobs in Brampton, that why the white people are on the street. Idk i think you need to realize that we also have our bias in addition to you having yours. Meaning, to most of us , excepting the most left leaning socially progressive pockets and contexts , which even then wouldn’t be viewed that way to us just acceptable lol ?\n\nOur baseline/political middle in Canada is A LOT more left leaning than the baseline normal/political middle in the states. So while people tend to equate your democrats to our liberals or our NDP , and equate your republicans to our conservatives. It’s just not accurate. If you throw our span of parties and American span of parties on the SAME spectrum /polarity line. You might be surprised to realize how shifted left our systems range politically is from the American one. \n\nThis hugely impacts the average normal expectation , what we clutch our pearls at hearing coming out of the mouths of the general public , and our range of what we expect to not hear or see ranted about unless they’re to our view , extremely right leaning politically /social values. \n\nFor us this means that actually genuinely , a lot of America does get experiences by us as bat shit crazy racist homophobic immigrant intolerant culturally and religiously ignorant , and somewhat backwards in larger or smaller amounts ? I know that’s not fun to hear but. Being the most diverse country based so much on immigration means. What is normal and known /familiar and normal so we aren’t ignorant to , is completely different. \n\nFor us we have our pockets usually in more rural less populated areas further away from larger cities where there is more diversity but that’s the same often in many countries that you will find some of the louder racist homophobic intolerant voices typically in places that truly are unfamiliar and ignorant to the experience of growing up with and around much of any diversity of varying kinds. So it’s not to say we don’t have racism and intolerance of course like anywhere we do. It’s just contained and the range and frequency and intensity is MUCH different. We distinguish nuances of diff cultures and religions more easily and in larger numbers we’re more familiar with diff ways of life , language , food, dress , holidays , values and used to a much less segregated way of existing even when we are differnt from each other as the NORM. My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. Like I don’t think our most intolerant Pockets can hold a flame to even ur closet to middle a bit intolerant places and contexts in America. Quite honestly. \n\nI think the absolute undying favourable passionate upholding and support of nationalistic, capitalist, hyper individualistic mentality about society as a whole (from my Canadian born and bred perspective lol) makes the differences even more glaring blaring and hard to swallow for us lol. Politicians always play safe for their benefits, but any native should never feel a stranger in their own hometown, it's a nightmare, I'm an Indian, from Kerala, I can't think of feeling and outsider in Kerala, so totally understand what people feel in any part of the world. Canadian expat living in Asia. Just returned from a visit to Canada. While spending time with family and catching up with them was awesome, I couldn’t wait to be back in Asia. I’m enjoying a lifestyle here in a tropical beach that would be unreachable in Canada. Eating out all my meals, going out, attending cool events, flying frequently to nearby countries for a weekend or week or weeks at a time. Eating clean healthy food, meeting inspiring and friendly people. Typing this from the beach on a Sunday morning while enjoying my big freshly squeezed carrot juice cup that I paid 60 cents for! \n\nCanada only for visiting once a year. \n\nSave money, work remotely or better yet, learn a high income skill and live anywhere while making money online is the new FREEDOM PLAN. Get on it while you can!

I am from Europe. You won't find a single country in EU who will not deport immigrants that do not have legal documents. If they find them they will throw them out of EU and those persons will get 5 years ban for apply legally. Why do Indians prefer to live anywhere but India. If you think about it…it’s really sad. Imagine not wanting to live in or contribute to your own country. I’m referring to the talented immigrants. The Lawyers, Physicians, Politicians, Businessmen, Tradesmen and the like. Why not take what you’ve learned and put it into practice for the people of India instead of people in America/Canada/Pretty much everywhere in the world but India. Wild. The last time I was in Toronto was late 2019. I've been going there since I was a toddler. People have b*tched about the cost of living for a long time, but I actually don't remember ever seeing a homeless person there or feeling unsafe walking anywhere in the city, at any time of the day or night. Perhaps my skin is thick coming from the metro US experience, or perhaps the city has, indeed, changed rapidly..... Fun fact: I remember people talking about moving from NYC to Toronto because Toronto was dirt cheap in the mid 90s...............

Have been saying it for years to many international students from India lived in qc there were so many international students coming from Punjab to qc. They will go just about anywhere in Canada if it means it will get them a PR wow left qc and moved to Ottawa so far have not seen so many international students . Even as a Born Canadian my parent came from India back in the 80s\nDon’t want to live with Indians . That came from India in 2024 they are rude to girls on the bus have no shame . Ben living in Canada for 40+ years only know there has been a. Influx of migrants from India. Before the people come they at least new basic English and got usto the way of living the new once they don’t even know basic English and don’t have any common sense how they pass is beyond me .
