In India the terminology would be more offensive, “lower class.” \n\nFor my graduation, I applied for my mother’s visa (my mother, who became a widow at 39, raised us under great difficulties with a meager pension of INR 350. She had not gone to school beyond 5th grade and she had no ancestral property, not even a red brick in her ancestral home. \n\nMy mother’s visitor visa was rejected and to this day — I am in my 70s now — it hurts me that she was not present when I received my PhD at Berkeley, one of the top-rated int’l universities. They rejected her visitor visa probably because she had nothing to show as her assets in her application. \n\nBut later. with me getting a job here as a research engineer in a large corporation, my mother visited the US five times. \n\nNot only that, even my older brother and sister in law got a ten-year multiple entry visitor visa when the came for my daughters wedding. \n\nThe point I am trying to make to your mostly upper middle class internationally well connected viewers is that visas are ALWAYS a privilege, never a right, no matter how well placed and well connected in your home country. Being a proud Indian and living in NZ from a decade I can say it's not just the equality.\nThe amount of frauds we do in our visa application just to enter a foreign land, I can speak on behalf of NZ, makes it difficult for the next batch of applications coming from that region.\nI won't label that with racism because every country has the right to protect its borders. Canad shifted from heavily Northern European immigration in modest numbers to enormous asian immigration in a few decades. It also seems that Canada taking educated, skilled migrants from countries with thriving middle class populations

This area was conquered by the British in 1820s, & with the British came a lot of non-native peoples (mostly Bengali speaking people), thereby making the noatives absolutely hate their presence. Following the Partition of India, many Bengali Hindus fleeing persecution migrated to Northeast India, fuelling further unrest. Over time, a large number of Bengali Muslims from what is now Bangladesh illegally migrated into the Northeast & integrated themselves with the local Muslim population (settled by the British), thereby changing the regional demographics based on religion. In the 1980s the increasing number of Bengali Muslims in the Northeast Indian state of Assam sparked an insurrection, which was put down after the Indian government promised to identify & deport illegal immigrants. Similar rebellions also broke out in other states of Northeast India by the tribal population against the rise in numbers of Bengali Hindus seeking shelter from religious persecution by Muslims in Bangladesh. However, very little progress was made in identifying illegal immigrants in Northeast India. After 2011 census revealed that Muslims outnumbered Hindus in Assam (but the combined Hindu-tribal populated outnumbered Muslims), talks began about setting a registrar & tribunal to speed up the process of identifying & deporting illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. This exercise was fraught with allegations of xenophobia, with Bengali Hindus, Gorkhas (settled by the British from Nepal to serve in the army) & Austro-Asiatic tribals (settled by the British to work as labourers in tea gardens) being branded as illegal infiltrators alongside Bengali Muslims. Those who were unable to prove their citizenship ended up rounded in detention centres, eventually to be deported out, which at that time many in Europe & USA had compared with Nazi concentration camps. \nIt would be interesting to see whether this same Nazi analogy is drawn up in case of the Trump administration doing the same as what happened in India.

The kind of deportation Trump has been talking about has gone beyond people that are here illegally. Trump has expanded it to include what he calls 'undocumented' migrants. That group includes people waiting for their asylum hearings, DACA recipients and protected status migrants/refugees, and people that have already had their asylum hearings, but are awaiting their citizenship hearings. \nAs for the narrative about 'murderers' and 'violent/horrible' criminals being in our country, it's like....wait...what??? Now, if you KNOW a person is a convicted murderer or horrible criminal, WHY would you allow them into or allow them to stay in this country to begin with? They are skilled migrants. Why do Canada take them in? Because they lack skilled white people to do their jobs. Also lack of population. Too many students is a problem. Colleges just take in too many of them, because they pay the money. Bring some control over colleges and students intake. There are too many new colleges just for business and that’s not good.

I pay $1475 per month all included and I have a large dog. My son lives in Victoria in the top floor of a house in the beautiful Gorge neighbourhood: 1400 sq.ft., 2 bedrooms all utilities included for $1800. My sister has a 3 bedroom townhouse in Victoria, she pays $1500 per month (no utilities included). I only wish nobody wanted to live in Canada. I have seen the population here explode in recent years to the point where many people are having trouble finding housing and our infrastructures are not keeping up to the numbers. Europeans are funny many of them fear being what they are the minority in the sea of people of color which is the truth and what about how they go to places like India colonize and cause issues there? YGood day. For from context I'll reveal a little about me. I am around 27% Indian, 34% northern African people which is around 61% combined. My other ancestry includes Wales, Sweden, Norway Scottish and Irish, Hebrew/ jew as in from 12 tribes of Israel, However, the world calls me black Jamaican born. I live in small town with population under 41,000 people in northern Ontario Canada for past 21 years. I remember when I came here with company contracted to build and say very few black people mostly French African and some mixed black with some Chinese probably total under 20 people other than white or indigenous peoples. Over the years was steady increase of black, Chinese, Philippino, and my Indian doctor and his family to maybe total around 50 none white none indigenous peoples. Just before pandemic we had a large number of Indian students which was awesome to see considering my heritage as my grandmother on dad side was Indian. But a year before pandemic we noticed many started working in convenient stores and fast food places like most high school students do to save for college/university which was becoming a problem for Canadian students as some employers got incentives or cheaper labour to maximize profits. As pandemic rolled in so it seems more Indian students from other regions in Canada. So, Canada, Ontario, and small town I reside already had huge housing problems as some homes we even to be condemned and indigenous homeless from north increased crime rates and now we had students living beyond building code occupancy with shared living causing rentals to shoot up in prices as landlords became greedy and selfish. This small town of under 41,000 is by some estimates over 55,000 by increasing Indian students who for past 5 years fighting to get permanent residents even though they came as students which proves the goal was always invasion and coming as students was the ticket. If you and rest of new immigrants don't see the problem yet, I'll continue. 95% of taxis have Indian drivers, 98% food and other delivery Indian, 90%+ convenience and groceries, clothing and all stores 90%+ , vehicles on roads 70% Indian, my son barely got into college with 90%+ Indian population in college and his class is 2 white students, himself only mixed , and 2 Africans and 22 Indian students who cheats on a regular basis but professor afraid to confront as they are quick to call racism. But even bigger for me is these Indian students/new immigrants have no respect for the history of Canada and USA not knowing how indigenous peoples were raped tortured and murdered to take over this country and then enslaved African people to build this country while they raped tortured treat less than animals and still suffering with fighting for equal rights for over 400yrs while still being racially profiled and beaten and murdered by police officers because of this colonizers system. Now you come here and benefits from black and indigenous peoples struggles and claiming rights when you have not been fighting the battles with us or for us. Of late, JT ( Liberal party) has become the whipping boy of Canada for all wrong reasons especially for the intake of a large number of international students and no one seems to be blaming the Conservative party that actually removed  the cap in 2014.  In 2014, in line with the International Education Strategy published by the  Government of Canada, the ruling dispensation decided to raise the number of international students from around 240,000 to over 450,000 by the year 2022. \n\nAccordingly in 2014, the then ruling dispensation (Conservative party) enhanced the number of international students visas to 327 thousand from the previous cap of 240 thousand.  In 2015, the figure went upto 352 thousand, representing almost a 47% increase  by CPC during their last 2 years in office .  As of 2023, there are over 1.5 million students holding study permits in Canada. \n\nIt is a known fact and no Canadian can sweep it under the carpet that the economic impact from the contribution by international students was felt across the entire country. From a mere $ 9 billion in 2014 it went to $12.8 billion in 2015 and it further enhanced to 15.5 billion in 2016. \n\nBy 2022, the Canadian government reported that the annual economic contribution of international students had increased to $22.3 billion, greater than exports of auto parts, lumber or aircraft. \n\nNow it is for the Canadians  to decide  as to who should be blamed  for  if Canadians feel that their country has become like a third world country- the international students who had contributed more than $22.3 billion to the exchequer of the govt  in the last 10 years or both the mainstream political parties namely Liberal Party and Conservative  Party  that failed the Canadians by opening up the flood gate to international students with  their eyes set only on the economic contribution  by international students  without  realising the after effect of huge unchecked  immigration of students. A myopic approach by the successive governments has brought in all sorts of chaos,  unrest, unemployment, shortage of houses, increase in cost of living etc..etc....to the Canadians. I can only sympathise with Canadins who are facing undue hardship and mental agony because of the wrongdoings of successive governments while worrying about the future of my ward who is pursuing  three years study program there.

3 million Indians injected into a country of less than 40 million people is insane - what was Canada thinking ?? They had to know that the TFW's would flock to a small number of cities - just as many Indians have done here in Australia. Both countries have absorbed a large population of Chinese fleeing HK and mainland China, but apparently they aren't breeding fast enough. Any moves to restrict the influx of people from the subcontinent is purely a reaction to the backlash politicians have face for trying to fix everything in a single decade.

To be Frank no one in the world think Canadian education is better. And no Canadian institutions or government think they are providing some kind of top quality Education. Canadian multiculturalism has changed. It used to be you came here and became a Canadian... While still bringing in bits from where you came from. Now it's they come here and complain about Canada while bringing their whole package of where they came from for us to accept. I'm tierd of people assuming white Canadians are racist for feeling uncomfortable when their cities are being over populated with non English speaking people (and by the way... It's not just white Canadians feeling uncomfortable... So our media and politicians needs to stop making this a race war). When we allow this many of one group to come in and live together.. They have no insentive to integrate. Immigration 60 years ago was Europeans coming in... I remember my grandmother talking about how the Italians and Portuguese and Germans were coming over in large numbers and it was a shock to the system... But they at least learned the language and integrated. Why are we condeming Canadians for not wanting cultures today from coming here and putting their foreign culture above Canadian culture. Immigration its time for western countries to start protecting their own populations from all the outside challenges that large migration numbers cause.

I gave an easy solution just ask all students and worker to submit an updated ieltr test with 7 bands to extend their visas or apply for post graduate work permit , ielts should be obtained from within canada to apply for extension. I am sure a large group will be able to obtain . Also canada would earn some revenue as well, and those able to receive 7 bands verify it and conduct interveiw and request tax to know how many hrs they work and study and this would show their intention if they are a genuine students. Or settle them in far cities and balance all communities so those in large numbers cannot dominate those in less numbers.

Students and Temporary workers are productive members, and Canada should be grateful towards them. Why are asylum seekers who are mainly uneducated and unskilled are being allowed to come to Canada in large number. This government has no brain and wasting money on everything unproductive and unnecessary. You are as stupid as the government that does not care about revenue loss which is affecting the education sector. Say something that makes sense coming out of racist attitude.
