Canada like Europe windrush... use you all until they no longer need you and toss you back like garbage. The sad part most of did not set a betterment back home. Do what you can do now. When a country, region or city gets a significant population that has no sense of belonging to that place and take no effort to integrate with the local culture and uphold the way of living, you know the place is going to go for a toss. I’m empathetic but we can’t take in others when most Americans can barely keep a roof over our heads/find housing. No. 1 rule when the plane is in trouble, ensure your mask is on and you have air before you attempt to help anyone else. My American husband and I moved to Los Angeles from Montreal, because of the fact there was still a lot of live music compared to other places. It was a great 17 years of music but guns started to be more of an issue. Health care was big, and was going to affect us soon, and then tRUmp came in . We knew that the changes were NOT going to be for better health care, or better gun laws, or better immigration policies, and we moved back to Canada. Now we don't even want to visit because of the current situation re all the aforementioned issues. I wouldn't dream of moving back. And numerous friends have asked how can they get into Canada.The Canadian immigration site crashed when tRump won. if not married to a Canadian, most people would be rejected. i appreciate our system of government; tRump would have been tossed out early on with a Vote of No Confidence.

The successive governments have destroyed the base (farming, fishing, forestry & mining) of our economy, plus squandered our tax dollars on building up the bureaucracies, while ignoring infrastructure. Toss on top of that the unfettered immigration of people who then wind up sucking from our tax dollars through welfare. This has cost us billions in FDI in projects tossed out by the courts and projects that will simply never be considered due to political and regulatory risks. \n\nThat said, if Canada wanted to improve this situation without meddling in the constitution one thing they can do is to allow housing to catch up to the population. We have the fewest number of dwelling per capita in the G7 in the highest population growth in the G7. This is a recipe for a housing shortage which ensures that a lot of capital will flow into the housing sector simply because it offers promising returns relative to the risk of operating a business. I believe Canada grew by over 1,000,000 residents in 2022 however we had 240,000 housing starts (4 residents per dwelling) and average house size here is 2.51 residents per dwelling. \n\nThat disconnect between housing starts (see regulatory framework above as to why we can't build enough houses) will just cause more capital to flow to the sectors making the business investment environment worse.

If we keep letting in every person from every other country we will lose everything we value and hold dear to our lives.
