I've been watching your videos when you were showing NY apartments. You are doing an amazing job on covering NY imigrant and crime problem. You really are an awesome journalist.

I'm a Nova Scotian in Toronto that went to High School and College in South Carolina then lived in Chicago.\n\nI agree with a lot of what you say but not on Chick-fila. It is just over priced now. in the 90s in SC it was so GOOD. \n\nMy only hard disagreement is our politics. Our politics are boring I agree but that is because classically in Canada, our politicians stick to the issues. We try not to make our politics a spectical like Pro Wrestling. Frankly, Canada is freer & more democratic. I'm no Trudeau fan but his government got their shit together for Covid and have really done an amazing job on the economic recovery. Where the so calll Conservatives are cozying up to some very extreme groups that talk a lot of herritage shit while crying about immigration. As a white guy, trust me when I say, when we whites start getting worked up about herritage and immigants it is a bad combo.\n\n\nAnyway, sorry to get so intence, I really did like your video and glad you have both made a home here. I am watching this video from Canada and I have 4 words for you - “DO NOT COME HERE!!!” Everything that was mentioned in the video is absolutely true. Canada is facing many problems, unaffordable housing, broken healthcare systems, homeless people, drugs. I am always scared to walk in downtown at night when I’m returning from work. And the worst part is, you cannot even defend yourself here if a homeless person is attacking you. If you do that you will be prosecuted saying that why did you touch that homeless guy and it is a violation of human rights, which is stupid. So does that mean that we should just let a random homeless person kill us?? How does that make sense?? My friend who was having an asthma attack had to sit in the emergency room for 8 hours. If something would have happened, who would be responsible? And the list just goes on. And what does the Canadian prime minister do about that….? Let a guy be a girl and a girls become a guy? What does that even mean??? I have nothing against the LGBTQ people. That’s your life do whatever you want, I don’t care. But there are so many other issues going on in the country and the government is focusing on allowing people to change their genders !! \nAnd the worst part is that a portion of the tax we pay from our hard earned money goes to the homeless people. And what do they do? Buy drugs and start attacking random people. I really feel sorry for this country and the people of this country. \nI always respected my county, India but now I really feel that the sense of security, belongingness, our culture is amazing !!! \nIf anyone is planning to come to Canada for studies, please think again. And if you have already booked your flight, all the best….its going to be extremely tough.

Toronto born and raised and a 4th generation Canadian, I loved Toronto so much! As a boy, I was lucky enough to live in a large house at Yonge and St. Clair. Early on we didnt even have to lock the doors or lock up our bikes. We had Beckers corner stores and played tag and baseball down on Summerhill Ave. Fast forward several decades and I have been living in small town USA. By no means is this country even close to perfect but the town I live in is safe, clean and not nearly as populated as Toronto. I am heading back there for a visit and look forward to having my mind blown at the volume of humans that I will see there. I loved the diversity and the amazing food but the housing shortage and ridiculous prices for rent/housing make it next to impossible for even an income earner of my stature want to go back. I cant afford to buy a house there and I make pretty good money. I will love to visit and it is where I am from but I dont see myself moving back there. That makes me sad. Thank you for the video!

According to the news we broke 40 Million residents in Canada in the new year. They just announced that the Canadian population is already at 41 million as of last week. How can we absorb this many people. I would say the majority are from India. A lot of these new residents are amazing. But hear me out......For more than 70 years Canada has accepted diverse immigrants from around the world. These immigrants have always had challenges with acceptance and integration as they bought homes and had families and raised children to be Canadians. But these immigrants are economic migrants. They don't want to be Canadians like they used to. They want the PR, and the citizenship. But they want to work and move all that money out of Canada back to India. Then when they retire, they themselves will dump all their Canadian assets and move to India where cost of living and home ownership is exceedingly less expensive. Even their federal government pension plan money will move out of the country. I'll be totally truthful...MY perception of these economic migrants is that THEY HATE US. In India they are educated, come from Middle class and upper middleclass families. They want the PR and Citizenship so they can eventually pull their entire family from India over to Canada. But they have to Work at Burger king or Tim Hortons when they arrive. And the HATE and resent Canadians for it. \n Canada allows people to keep their foreign passports and citizenship. There are 300,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Hong Kong, There are 450,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Lebanon with a War about to expand across the border. We cannot continue with this.....every time one of these places destabilizes they end up on the CBC waiving their Canadian passports demanding the Canadian government do something to get them out. \n The Author of the video is correct. IT isn't about hate or xenophobia...Its about making sure that people who come here want to be here, Are taken care of properly, contribute to Canada and its development, integrate into out society and culture, and do not make life harder for the people - ALL OF THEM - already here.

Great video…loved it! My perspective is a bit different…I grew up in Canada, I lived 4 years in Toronto, 1.5 years in Waterloo, 14 years in Ottawa and 3.5 years in Calgary…overall, just little over 23 years in Canada. I graduated from University of Waterloo and Masters from University of Ottawa. I have a strong educational foundation from Canada, which I am very proud of. I moved to Houston, TX in 2016 and my last 8 years of living in US has nothing but AMAZING!!! While living in Canada, i was never able to save any money. In my last 8 years of working and living in US, I am 90% done paying off my mortgage on a very nice 5800sq feet house in Sugarland, TX. I owe very nice 2024 Lexus and 2023 Mercedes SUV that I can only dream of in Canada…so Canada is good in so many thing (I do have a soft corner for Canada in my heart as I grew up there) but when it comes to opportunities and life style to its full potential…USA is way ahead of the game.

This video is amazing but I really wish you would have put the source for your charts in the corner. This is a huge omission and I cant find anything that matches the population growth rate chart in the video. The statscan website's chart shows a much smaller increase from 2020 onward. amazing video, but i would recommend doing research on the job search of young and overqualified canadians. it is currently impossible to find a minimum wage job due to the over saturation of the population. as a 17 year old with good grades and work experience, i cannot find a job after applying to ~60 places in person, and neither can my friends. however, this video does make me feel seen as an unsatisfied canadian :)

Nice video. I watched it as I like to learn from other perspectives.\n\nI was born in Toronto, and I must say, this “no time for life and fun” is a new thing. This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think that will help

Oh i wasn’t expecting quebec to be thee no1 on this list but it’s nice to see it there im from greater Montreal\nIm not the bragging type but it feels nice to see it there especially that most people don’t fully appreciate the luck we have\nIt’s also funny to see that most people from outside say Montreal is amazing and people from around the city love to hate it for some reasons\nI must say that recent years have been hard cos of the consequences of the pandemic among other things which made the access to healthcare much harder than just a few years ago and also the prices of houses and rents have exploded since 2020 and the crime rate have raised in Montreal but not as much as cities cited in the video from the prairies \nI think its still a great place and safe place to live and we are lucky to be in that province and that country even though quebecois love to complain or as we say « chialer »

Go out and learn what CANADA is before making these videos.\nFirst you should know that Canadian Companies don't hire anyone for a high skilled job. Even if you are an amazing engineer with 20yrs of experience. They want even skilled people to get canadian experience by working entry level jobs.\nAnd you are crying about how immigrants are applying for entry level jobs. First you should ask your companies and government why it is wasting the talent of people they brought by asking them to do entry level jobs.

I totally agree that this country will break your spine and test your ultimate willpower. Me and my wife came here 5 years back and we decided that we will shut ourselves like a tortoise. Forget about savings and forget about everything else. Only and only one goal we had in mind is that we will live in the basement and earn top dollars. Just to give you a perspective. My first pay was 19 dollar per hour and my current pay is 87 per hour. My wife started with 16.5 per hour and now earning 69 per hour. Even though our income grew substantially, we never raised our expenses. Answer to all problems in Canada is income. Now after 5 years we bought house worth of 1.4 M. We moved out of basement and felt immense pride. We paid 37% down payment and 3 banks approved our mortgages in a heartbeat. No debt at all. We paid up our car in full. Just a regular new suv nothing fancy. \nEveryone is different, we all are unique and I believe you took a right decision. Each and every word you said in the video is true. \nWe cried , we fought , we felt that our life is ruined but we both thought that ek bar to Canada ko harana hai. Itni income generate karenge ki sala CRA shock ho jaye progress dekh ke. We literally cried when we saw our YTD on Dec 31,2023. We crossed 300k and lately to be honest we got a kick in living in basement. People around us thought of us as a regular poor couple but from inside we knew that we are earning in top 3% of Canadian population. \nI would highly recommend that understand the job market of Canada. Work on your soft skills. Power on the language is MUST. It is even more important than your technical knowledge. Make meaningful connections. Stay away from negative people. Canada used to be so affordable, and such an amazing place to live, it's sad that this is all changing... : (\n\nI do have to point out, though, that the tax rate in Canada is the same as in most of Western Europe (30 to 60%) and the ratio between salary and cost of living is similar. It's pretty normal, in France, Italy and Spain to spend half of your salary on your rent/mortgage, some people even spend more than that. (The average salary in France is about 2,000€ or sometimes even less and the average rent for a 1 bedroom in big cities is about 1000€. In Spain, the aberage salary is about 1,000€ but rents are 600€ per month or more...).

Interesting video! Here's my perspective:\n\nI'm from Quebec City, of Chinese descent, born and raised in Montreal, where I lived for 21 years. I've also lived in Vancouver for 3 years, Toronto for 5 years, returned to Montreal for another 3 years, and have now been in Quebec City for 15 years.\n\nAs a Quebec City resident and business owner, I find the city amazing. During the pandemic, there were many programs and subsidies available. I even wrote to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding the CEBA program for businesses, suggesting some changes to the eligibility criteria. They followed through, and Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau sent a detailed response, signed by him but likely written by his staff, explaining the revised criteria and suggesting other potential programs. Provincially, my MP's staff guided me through various programs. Ultimately, I received nearly everything I needed to survive and potentially thrive through the pandemic (to be confirmed in 2024).\n\nTaxes are high, but I feel safe in Quebec City. Crime rates are low, and I've experienced little racism, possibly due to my fluency in French. Starting a business here has been easy, with minimal costs and bureaucracy.\n\nAs a gay man, I've never felt endangered. I can comfortably express affection for my spouse in public without feeling judged.\n\nHealthcare, including access to medication and doctor consultations, is extremely affordable. Super Clinics offer next-day appointments at no cost.\n\nI own a commercial condo for my business, which cost significantly less than it would have in Toronto or Vancouver. My rent for a one-bedroom apartment is CAD 755, and electricity bills are remarkably low.\n\nWith the shift to online business, I've accessed international markets while benefiting from a low-cost, safe environment. I received a CAD 2400 subsidy from the Canada Digital Adoption Program, among other government-funded programs, to expand internationally.\n\nAlthough homelessness exists in Quebec City, many supportive programs are available, and most homeless individuals here are polite, likely because they face less stigma.\n\nI believe it's crucial to explore different locations when moving to Canada. Many smaller cities offer great opportunities, which works to my advantage.\n\nRegarding the judiciary system, it's not perfect but feels less biased compared to the Supreme Court of the United States, such as in cases like Roe v. Wade.\n\nMy advice to immigrants is to learn the local language fluently for effective communication. One of the sweetest videos I've come across on Canada. No negativity or hate-mongering, just facts as it is in the simplest of ways. I've been living here for almost 3 years now- and I'm used to being alone, but I still find the void maybe its seeing your own people back home. I'd say it's quite a struggle to live here and you start to accept it as a norm. But I love motorcycling and I am overwhelmed by the natural beauty- did some amazing rides in summer, but unfortunately winters are here now. While I have three years on my OWP, I'd use that time to gain more experience, travel across the beautiful landscapes and head back home. I don't see myself settling in here- not my kind of life. I am very adaptive and have come up on my own in life from a very tough childhood- I love Canada for what it is, but then it's just not for me.

Nice video! It was quite a rough year for me as I lost my job as a college teacher and earning from home was so uneasy due to the economic recession. Things turned for better mid-year as I got in contact with Ms, Norman Davina, I opened up about challenges I was facing here in Norway. During my time working with her, I was able generate weekly returns on my investment in the money market. We still keep in touch, such an amazing lady.
