I think all things are possible when you are young and healthy. As someone with an unexpected chronic disease that showed up in my 40s I'm on immunosuppressants that are very costly. Thank God the gov't here covers them. With treatments every 6 weeks I have no freedom to leave. While that's taken care of, access to a family doctor or emergency care is horrible. Waiting a month for a doctors appt or having to spend 10 hours in emergency is not okay in a developed country.\n As a citizen you have Canada as a safety net, so its no big deal if you move and don't like it. I'm not sure where is safe in the world right now. A lot of people moved to Equador, and then boom the violence got out of control. Just my thoughts on things.

Thank you for this story, Harrison. We have lived in Brampton for 17 years and no longer like it. The only reason we are staying right now is because our son is taking a three year college course and has only just about completed one year. Another related topic that you covered was about the high cost of rents and the ridiculous rental situations - many of them in Brampton. He is saving money living at home right now. Another big problem is that we don't have the infrastructure for all these people. My son routinely stands up most of the way to school or can't get on a bus because it's full.

Unlike most of the comments here, I absolutely love being a Canadian. I have a rare health condition and the government covers 100% of my medicine costs which is thousands of dollars a month. It’s also safe here and there’s so much opportunity. I immigrated when I was 4 years old from Pakistan and even when I go back to visit, Canada is like heaven on earth compared to Pakistan. The medicine I need to live a healthy is isn’t even made or offered in Pakistan. I’ll forever be a proud Canadian. Thank you Canada ❤

Why would you say the “cost of healthcare in Canada is higher than in Europe” when it’s literally paid-for by our taxes? I mean it doesn’t cover everything (same as UK) like doesn’t cover pharmaceuticals, physio, hearing aids, or dental for most people (they’re changing that slowly thanks to our socialist party that’s been keeping the libs in line), but it’s ridiculous to say it’s costly since for most tax payers it’s basically free. Duh.. it doesn’t work perfectly b/c they are not funded enough b/c rich don’t pay enough taxes, but it suffices. At least everyone is covered unlike the US where only the rich have good healthcare and no medical debt. Very deceptive video.

Im Filipino. You have a no-nonesense style of unraveling things about living in Canada. My brother in law and one newly graduate grandson are aiming for that place. Of course, inspired by their preconceptions about that country. I was born and raised in Toronto. The Trudeau government has absolutely destroyed our economy and is now scamming poor developing nations to come here and work as wage slaves while packing 25 dudes into a basement. This is deplorable. This is just the Indian student scam (selling false dreams and a poor education), we also have the migrant labour scam in our fruit/vegetable fields where workers are abused. I honestly don't understand how these new immigrants survive here, even our Canadian-born are having a lot of financial trouble. Thanks for covering this BBC, the world should know about our economic malaise and how are government is deliberately wrecking this country economically and scamming unsuspecting foreigners.

Shuttle between HKG, USA , Toronto/Canada and Shanghait/China It seems your 10 points cover pretty well about the subject. \n\nHere I have some experiencese to share about the OHIP. yse. it is free system for us. However, the quality is rather inferior to HKG or even in Maindland China. The Dentistry is not free, by the way. and other specialist, such as Protates (Yes, for aged man like me ), the quality (cure results) are really 2 levels down. To my disappoiment. \n\nThe Taxes and service charge make up the bill almost 30% extrate, while in in NY State, it could be half of it. \n\nTThe Canada now is NOT a country, it is another state of America, Canada has been administrated as a genocide government but it keeps barking on the world about others but seldom think about herself of all the wrong doings. This is pushing people to leave even more. \n\n\nNow we are planing to leave Canada. Fortunate enought, we could have a choice. Thanks God!

Having to pay for healthcare is a huge detractor for me. I would never move there because of it. I got breast cancer a couple of years ago. I had many rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation & I can’t even tell you the amount tests were done. MRIs, CT scans, frequent doctor & specialist appointments, Scans of all kinds. I’m still in awe of everything they did for me & of course, thankful (is an understatement). \nI can’t imagine what all that would have cost. I didn’t have to pay anything. It was all covered by the government. I ham now over one year out and currently cancer free. ???

I came to US at a young age - it is a sacrifice for the parents.. but your kids will eventually make a great life for themselves. It is hard to settle here in your adult life, if you are use to the comfort of india. I felt your loneliness… cause when I moved here there was no internet yet and no whatsapp, so couldn’t even talk to our relatives. Thanks for your honest viewpoint.
