Yes I was, after Trump got elected no. Disabled human rights are horrible here and as compensation for lawsuits can be capped in cases that is unlikely to change. I should state the government had to pay me $25,000 dollars for violating my rights (this cost me $35,000+ in legal fees!) so I know of what I speak. It was the same when I moved provinces. In terms of mobility my fate was better in the 4 third world countries I visited after my stroke, there are no busses in loads of places here as we can’t “afford” them. Also I should state the government tried to make me site an NDA that would not allow me to state their behaviour, this should be illegal where government money is concerned! On to health care…. Why do disabled people struggle to get a family doctor when they move provinces? Also why did the mother of a Ukrainian disabled kid have to go back to a country that had been invaded to get help for her child that was having convulsions? She got no help here and her child was in our system by then and her husband has been paying taxes since I got him a job here 3 day a after landing. Yes there are a lot of good Canadians but this situation has become much worse and Canadians are masters at ignoring things. There is a Ukrainian flag flying from my cabin not a Canadian one. We are NOT the 51st state and will never be but I’ve been made to feel betrayed

Are you kidding me. Are you not in Canada right now. Canada is now the most poor country in the World. Immigration has gone to the roof. No housing. Rents and forget about buying a house in BC, AB, Quebec, Ontario. High unemployment, Inflation is high and going up more. We also do not have a military defense system and the U.S. is tired of Canada not spending money to meet their responsibility as a Nato country. Many Canadians are leaving the country permanent. Investors and businesses are pulling out. Canada is trillions in debt but keep printing more money (toilet paper). Canada has gone downhill significantly over the past ten years. Born Canadians and legit immigrants having to go through a rigorous immigration process are very unhappy and cause conflict. Besides all the different ethnicities cause unrest and are ungrateful, daring the burn the Canadian flag, uttering death to Canada, death the US and Israel. These trouble makers have not intentions to assimilate into Canada's culture and are disrespectful to the Canadian government and it's citizens. Our youth are very unhappy and do not see a future for themselves yet have to work very hard and pay unbelievable high taxes. The minimum wages are only 15 bucks an hour which cannot sustain life here in this country. Please stop making false promises to foreigners to come here and be disappointed. This is not a country of milk and honey any longer but poor and enormous homelessness. Hunger, terrible health care, incredible post secondary tuitions and books. Now that president Trump has won the election he is going to place tariffs on Canadian goods and rightfully so. Russia is very interested in the Antarctica and should they or anyone invade Canada we got 3 days of ammunition. The food in AB is very bad for your health. Everything has pesticides, hormones, and by the time fruit and vegies arrive here from the US all the nutrition have gone. A extremely high cancer rate, young and old, diabetes, depression and other mental disorders are rampant. Our children and grandchildren do not have a future so why bother going to school or work. Our kids live on the streets, shelters, camping in the woods and using fentanyl and meth all kinds of dangerous drugs. The cities and small towns are full of used needles, pipes, and more paraphelia just thrown on the trails everywhere. The US will not assist Canada when a possible War 3 will occur, and we the people of Canada and the land are easy prey. If you do not believe me, just come visit RED Deer shelters and walk around on the trails, go to Vancouver but becareful because random assaults are happening every day, people living in tents, using the streets as toilets, drugs galore, even the police is unable to act nor arrest criminal activities caused by desperate people who need to survive. Canada's economy is about to collapse and fall into a recession. We have too many people coming in our country without checking their back ground and many criminals and terrorist groups are entering declaring refugee status whether it is true or not, we do not know. The people of Canada who work and pay highest taxes are used to house these newcomers and education, jobs, food and money. Our government take better care of these illegal people than their own people especially our youth. So please let us not pretend Canada is a land of opportunity and great. We have to vote for the right leader who will have a very difficult time and challenges to overcome if at all possible and make Canada Great Again!

I came to Canada in 1989 with my twin sister. I haven't left Canada ever since I came in. My twin sister left Canada for good in 2023. I did not come to Canada because I needed more money. I came to Canada because I did not have a country. Canada became my home country but the crazy thing is I don't recognize the Canada I knew over the years. Many people came to Canada to take advantage of this wonderful nation. My beloved city of Toronto turned into a third world country. I'm now in Alberta where I work hard and pay my taxes. My Canada is a paradise on earth. My Canada deserves people who loves it. I had my hardship in my early years and that was what I had to go through. When new immigrants try to cut corners, I always remind them to earn their muthafuka turn. The liberal party screwed up Canada. Chances are one day I will end up leaving Canada for good but before that I'm keeping my Canada great.

Girls, I came here as an international student, I make about 150K year, I pay aournd 45% of my salary in taxes and 2500 in rent, that is unfair. My job comes from the U.S. and now I have to face impossible PR process. Canada needs reforms for sure, but think twice, this is not the only country a highly skilled immigrant can go, the world is big, stop blaming international students for everything, we came here following the rules, and we did not write those rules. Millions of people will be arrested and they will have to be in jails for months or years and that will cost billions more because we the taxpayers will pay for it. I am a double hater cant stand Trump and I am a farmer, i dont use immigrants because i just grow crops that can be mechanically harvested and I have a small farm, But in the past I used to manage large farms where we had a lot of immigrants most were illegal and people don't understand why they're illegal It's because there is an arbitrary cap on how many migrants can come from Guatemala and Mexico if they wanted to come legally just a normal worker They have a 60-year waiting list so it's just impossible to come here legally. Most of these people are very hardworking good people that come here to work for 5 to 7 years save up money and then go back to Mexico or Guatemala build a house and start a business in their own country. \n\nThis year i begrudgingly voted for trump because for me the biggest issue is with the federal and state regulations that make farming much harder than it needs to be especially regulations on diesel engine emissions that cost me tens of thousands of dollars a year and many months of not being able to use my equipment that I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on. And Kamala was the one who enforced the CARB emmisions standards that diesel engine manufactures have to comply with to sell into California which is the biggest consumer of these engines. \n\nLike right now I have my pickup truck that's been down for 6 months because of emissions problems and so many of the vehicles have emissions problems that the parts to fix it don't even have an ETA because they need to fix so many trucks and I have two other tractors broke down that I can't use all my friends that are farmers have a lot more and dems want to significantly increase emmisions standards in 2026. \n\nYou simply can't grow food at scale without reliable diesel engines There is no alternative The vast majority of food is planted and harvested mechanically in the US The bigger issue with food is not well illegals get deported It is will the diesel engines run to harvest 90% of the calories in plant them. \n\nWe have robots that can milk the cows most of the things that migrants harvest can be harvested mechanically and they are in other parts of the world It's just cheaper to do it with labor once that's not the case it will be mechanized. I would prefer to keep migrants here but give them legal working status if they have productive jobs and they pay tax.

What about the immigrants that have been working and contributing and trying to get citizenship for decades and the spouses of American citizens still fighting for their right after paying taxes for many years - are we raiding all families homes and splitting up kids from parents? I have travelled most of America and like them a lot. There are some things which stun me however for such a wealthy and advanced country. 1. It seems many care more about the unborn then the already born. Some want to ban abortion but don't dare try to change gun laws that allow thousands to die in mass shootings. Insane to most of the world. The electoral system instead of just the popular vote. Having a for profit system so big pharma, doctors and insurance companies get rich instead of paying through the tax system.

Seniors are forced to work long past 65 because we can't afford to stay in our apartments or our homes because of this true liberal communist government is more event on stealing taxpayers dollars to give themselves than to help the people of this great country I'm 68 years old I can't quit I owe the government money every year cuz they say I make too much so if 38,000 is too much that I don't know what is seniors should not be taxed at all. We moved to United Arab Emirates ?? in April and it’s the best decision. No taxes , higher paying jobs, safest place in the world I mean no crime whatsoever.

I lived in Canada for half of my life and now live in the US. I have travelled around the world and the same issues Canada has are worldwide. Taxes, increase in prices (groceries, gas etc), homelessness are world wide issues. \nSocialized medicine what was once thought to be the greatest is disappointing at best. Long wait times,lack of doctors in rural communities and poor pay for many doctors are having them head state side. \n\nI hope you find your next country and it works out. Canada will always be home and you can always come back.

The conservative government was a disaster for housing/cost of living and the liberals haven’t been much better. The vast majority of elected legislators here are relatively wealthy landlords with substantial investment property portfolios. It’s not in their interests to fix the housing crisis. They also vote themselves huge salaries and regular pay rises. They are relatively immune to the cost of living crisis. Australian food banks and similar charities are overwhelmed. We have two main supermarket chains, Coles & Woolworths. They both perpetuate rampant price gouging with abandon. Big corporations, especially international ones, pay very little to no tax. This is happening all over the world under governments of every stripe.

Hungary has the top security system (google) to keep immigrants out of the country. Worse. Thief and crime have skyrocketed! Everyone in NYC are robbing anyone they see and stores are\nclosing. They don't get arrested because anything under $1000 is not a criminal offense. The USA needs to get a grip! These people are asking for handouts, which means the USA poor will not get benefits. It is not just Canada. USA people are getting out of the cities! This is a world wide crisis. Say your prayers. We really need a savior to show up!

I’m Ukrainian, and I came to Canada in 2024 through the CUAET program. I work remotely for a U.S. company, but it feels impossible to survive here with my current salary. Just remember that a lot of people have a before and after view. Back in the day a school photo looked like a meeting of every country and now in some areas, those photos look like one country only. My point is that people grew up in a multicultural environment. Very rarely did one group have so much impact with so few people in such a short time. The long and short of it is stop driving like an entitled @$$, mow the lawn, don't be the loudest people, don't crowd, have large gatherings in public areas where you take over some place so that nobody can use it. Some people just want to get in, get their stuff and go home. I understand that the 2 countries in the world with the largest population like to be very sociable and crowd together, but neither of the two groups want to follow rules, laws or be considerate of other people. It's all about them and how they want to live. Imagine you've been paying taxes and following the laws and being considerate of other your whole life and someone coming to the country and making no effort to behave.

There are two absolutes in today's modern world - ethic enclaves (Indians, Chinese, French, Italians, Jews, Arabs, Africans etc etc) and two....douches who are always complaining about that. Indians are the highest income earners in the US and Canada, because they instill strong values of education in their kids, who grow up to become high-paying earners in fields like medicine and technology. This also makes them the highest income tax bracket, and biggest contributors to the tax pool.

Go and read about how 'Passport Index' work. People blame government for India's low ranking whereas the factors affecting the ranking are based on how people of that country behave in foreign land. Whether they come legally and leave before their visa expires. Whether they pay tax or do crime. That's all I am saying. We are the ambassadors of our country and it is our duty to act civil when we are in foreign land as they see us as Indians irrespective of our caste, creed, religion. If you are unskilled to get a job in India then you are definitely unskilled everywhere in the world. Also, people should actually research about how pathetic is the infra in other countries that they so admire. No one shows the truth about what's going on in other countries as the whole world is busy blaming India and Indians. Is it so hard to understand that one should not do 'illegal' things?

I have done part of my education in Germany with very nice professors. I improved my German language skills to C1 level and still keep learning it. I have been working in some of the most well-known German companies some of which used to be part of Fortune 500. I am very grateful for the opportunity that I was given both at university and work places and the support I got from some of my good managers at the beginnning of my career. However, I should say on a daily basis you will face racist comments and discrimination. Despite high tax that I am paying and doing my best to be useful for the society, at work place you hear a lot of racist comments. When you go out, you can see you are not welcome in the society, and that is not only my problem. At both university and work, international people are together and Germans are within themselves, and you are not welcome being there. Here in Germany this phenomenon is called Parallelgeselschaften or parallel societies. Yes, you see people from all around the world, but it doesn't mean you are in an international place, all the expats are within themselves. The society is not open to accept them. As a specialist, you can be much happier living in an English-speaking country which is tolerant and allows you to be part of the society. I should say however, I have had also nice German colleagues who were really open-minded and truely have an international mindset and separate themselves from the historic racist mindset. Putting this comment here, I am ready for racist comments coming towards me. Go ahead.

The caregiver program should go through reform. With the current immigration law with giving the caregivers Permanent Residency putting a lot of pressure on the employers who are working hard and paying taxes to bring the caregivers in Canada. The caregivers are taking advantages by exercising their rights as soon as they lands in Canada. Where is the protection for the employers who are working round the clock to bring the caregivers but the caregivers are abusing the systems and goodwills of the employers. The caregiver program should be like it was before when the caregivers needed to work here for 10 years to get the permanent residency. Otherwise it is becoming difficult for the employers to retain the newly hired caregivers under the new program as the caregivers are getting PR as soon as they lands. Employers need protection. Employers brings caregivers from foreign lands and as soon as they arrive the caregivers can quit and change employer and start exercising their rights as PR - it has to stop to protect the employer because of the employers hard earned money and goodwill they can land here, employers should not suffer for their goodwill and needs.\nWe Canadian employers need workers not the abusers.\nThe caregivers should be brought in temporary work permit and sent back or give PR after 10 years after they contribute to Canada but not award them with PR as soon as they land. Otherwise the lack of workers in this field will never be fulfilled. Many people from poor countries like Philippines are waiting eagerly to come even with low wages, because the money they get is huge compared to any third world countries.\nThis is not justice to indian students who came here to study are preparing to contribute are being sent back.

Yep, leaving in a few months as well. This country is so in a wrong path and I get it, cost of living is rising everywhere but Canada seems to be bad in all sectors of life, not just for being expensive….what is the point of paying for a place to live pretty much as an animal for 70% of your salary and then go downtown and look around homeless and drug addicts everywhere to interacting superficially with cold people in a weather that’s freezing for more than half a year to never being able to fly anywhere as ticket for a three hour flight costs $1000…..oh and endure all of this for a $40k/annually salary after tax if you’re lucky. Not your first world category type of country but be advertised for what it really is….a 3rd world.

Canada is the second largest country in the world in terms of area alone with a VERY small tax paying population. We only have 18 million taxpayers (remember the other half are children or senior citizens living on their pensions). We NEED immigrants to invest in businesses, to pay taxes, to work and do all the jobs we don’t have enough Canadians for. If we didn’t have immigrants, Canada would fall apart as our birth and death rates are low. We need to build more towns and cities or increase incentives for immigrants to move our dying out towns.

I have worked in Australia, Europe - UK and Germany before moving to the US for my master's degree and worked there for many years. Then moved to India and then to Canada. If you are a tech worker, there is no country in the world more accepting than the United States. Period. \nIn US, people respect your talent than what ethnic background or linguistic background you have. People are more tolerant and accepting, and even let you go up the ladder. Thats why many Indian CEO are leaving US companies while Americans don't mind. \nEuropeans and Australians are the most racist people I have encountered, who have little to no empathy even towards highly skilled workers paying heavy tax in their county. \nIt is better to work for your whole life in the United States on work visa, than living in Australia/Europe/Canada as their citizens.

Sad about leaving Canada? You get taxed up the….., it’s frozen for half of the year, the people are also frozen and they try to stab you in the back (especially in Quebec). A childhood classmate of mine visited Canada and these are her impressions: people are fat, disgusting, it’s boring, depressing, cold, gloomy; every second person is in a wheelchair but they don’t have to be, pretending to be disabled because the government pays them for disabilities, etc. After going back home every person that she saw on the street was extremely gorgeous in her eyes after the horror that she saw in Canada…. This is obviously a little exagerated and coming from someone whose expectations were high but you get the point.\n\nWe don’t need to be driving brand new cars all the time, live in brand new homes and spend thousands of dollars for the services that we don’t really need… life is all about simplicity and being able to enjoy every single moment: so many countries in the world offer that: not Canada.

In face, Canada is good to raise children, but when they grow up and you are free on yourself, it is better to change to live in other countries. South america and Southeast asia are among good choices. Selling your house will stop paying the ever rising government tax and strata fee but gives you a more affordable housing while plenty left for buying medical insurance abroad. Saving of 35-45% tax can easily buy a descent plan. Canada is great but the cost of living is far more greater! If you make money online there is no reason to remain in Canada and pay so much tax when you receive almost nothing in exchange. There are countries like Panama where you pay zero tax from income made abroad. Panama does not have the luxuries that Canada offer, It is still a third world country. But your rent is much less and you don't pay tax.

I can recommend you to reside in one of EU countries. It is far more convenient and proper to maintain the living circumstances and standards. A part of the domestic inhabitants and people have also abandoned Canada due to the cost of living, paying substantial amount of taxes and healthcare segment. Please, blame the govt. I don’t think citizens or immigrants are to blame. Finding stable work in Canada is a challenge these days even for permanent residents/new citizens. No guarantee of work even after acing an interview and building skills as needed.
