Frankly speaking the vast majority of those students from most parts of the world, are not in Canada strictly for an education. Their goal is a Canadian PR and I am not blaming them for that in the slightest.

As an Indian living in India, I also hate Canadians as well. They stereotype whole India without realizing the diversity of India. They are putting the blame on Indians, but not ready to acknowledge their immigration policy is poor. Your immigration policy should encourage bright minds to move there, but their selection criteria favours particular religion, area and people. Punjab is only a small part of India and so is Gujarat. Majority of Indians don't care about Canada.

Despite the fact that I live in a fucked up third world country myself, there are three major reasons why I have not moved to a first world country yet:\n1. Money \n2. I have my own house here and I don't have any debts. Not a lot of first world citizens can say that now, can they?\n2. I want Guaranteed opportunities (Either a job offer or a PhD offer) if I am to move abroad. \n3. First world countries have a habit of blaming immigrants for all of their bullshit. ALL OF IT. Even the parts that aren't our faults. Fuck them.

Alina does not address the reason for the massive deterioration of Canada. Did she vote for Trudeau? If so, she's part of the problem. The economy is down in every part of the world, not to mention Canada is hosting refugees from Ukraine/Palestine and other parts of the world who also contributed to the drain on economy, if you can't support them then don't bring them? The Canadian economy has been going down for a decade+, many businesses have left in the past and are still leaving, Trudeau hasn't made it easy for them either, the remaining NEED cheap labor to survive. They also NEED immigrants to bring in their money, its a big part of their economy, without immigrant money their Universities/Colleges/businesses are going to be many times more expensive even for the local Canadians. Canadians have big ego but not much to back it up, from my time here, they try to compare themselves to USA but they're nowhere close, nor is the weather desirable to live here, the guise of friendliness/politeness & some high paying jobs is all they had going for them, and now they don't even have that. /endrant

I love it how the video conveniently omits the reason why the housing supply is so inadequately low in Canada - real-estate developers and rental agencies lobbying all levels of government to keep zoning laws draconian and to make new construction increadibly difficult. For example, an enormous proportion of Toronto's urban area is still zoned exclusively for single-family housing. The landlords, who are currently extracting record profits from regular people with no sign of decline, are more than happy to shift the blame towards immigrants, and it saddens me to see that respectable media outlets like the Guardian are becoming a part of it.

For me a Québécois, we missed the boat in 1995. Too bad if you don’t like it but we got screwed by newly arrived immigrants back then and we are being drowned by immigrants now. These are the ones who would literally step on their grandmothers neck to attain higher status in life. Since for me this place is where I feel the most a part of and have understood long ago that the ROC had done everything to negate us as a people a nation and the dream of an independent country with close ties to the ROC is and probably never was in the cards, I have started hoping for some kind of political union with mother France since it has become painfully clear that Canada as a strong bicultural self respecting truly independent country is a bygone notion. Just look at our military, it’s a monumental farce. Look at the insane levels of immigration, we cannot support this!! PERIOD!!! Look at way we genuflect to the US’s economic visions without questioning anymore. The Quebec people are a nation, Canada unfortunately is only a notion. For me getting out of Canada is also a reality except since this place never was one of a cash cow there only to send funds to some family elsewhere I believe we Québécois and Québécoise, with the respect for the First Nations that we have always owed them, need to go our way. So leave Canada, in fact there are too many of you already. We are not the US, we cannot afford the social chaos of savage predatory capitalism. What is bringing this confederation down is exactly that. Wanting to cram Canada, all its constituent parts into an Merican hole. No matter the price. Goodbye Canada you hardly wanted to know us.

It's incredible how people around the world, seem to forget that most countries had shut down for two years during the pandemic, costing countries billions, the issue is the grocery chains, the ongoing confict with Ukraine and Russia, among other countries, crime has spiked, I put part of the blame on the legal system, I do hope you will stay in Canada, beats the USA, which is headed into unknown direction, Canada has very little earthquakes, volcano eruptions, typhoon, hurricanes, although Canada has had the coldest winter on the planet, we as Canadians are in most part caring countries, I also put the blame on the premiers taking money from the federal government and investing in cons, our prime minister has faults, he takes the blame for most issues in Canada, but, he better than the alternative, not sure which country you are thinking about moving to, but take in consideration of the pros and cons of your potential move, the cost of living, health care, job, vehicles, rent, wage, best of luck in your future endeavours

Well atleast they’re doing something about it, rather than complaining pointlessly on social media blaming a country of 1.4 billion people who for the most part don’t have any blame in this problem.

I was doing some historical research on the Ark of the Covenant....revealed some evidence that the 'Sephardic Jewish' folks have been hiding for thousands of years....and part of this involves the location of the Ark of the Covenant and the REAL exodus lands of the Ashkenazi Jews. Because they shared European blood with the folks there. They took their cousins in. But only THEIR cousins. \n \nAfter the Sephardic Jews were pushed by Persians into Spain they were kicked out into Morroco / Africa when the Europeans took back this region. They had religious and cultural differences and these folks were not of European blood. \n \nThe Sephardic Jews turned around and moved slaves into the Americas and impersonated French and Spanish settlers creating slave plantations. They blamed Europeans for this. This is probably because they hated both Europeans AND Africans for displacing them. \n \nPlease note they DO NOT have European blood. We see them impersonating Spanish in South America. They are impersonating French Canadians in Canada trying to push for separatism from Europeans. They are in Russia causing racial conflicts in Russia possibly as Ingush and Dagestan peoples. It is very likely these are the folks that are attacking us all for racial hatred. Its clear they don't like Africa. Its clear they don't like Europe. Honestly as an Immigrant I was definitely lied to by the country of Canada, and tbh this concern is lined with racism to an extent, but there are some valid concern for the most part. \n\nCanadian universities came to me high school, one of the academically successful high schools on my island and tried to take every single high performing student. Honestly immigrantion is an issue for everyone, but it won’t stop until the bigger western countries stop making oppressive laws forcing people out of their country. \n\nThis is not the immigrants problem, Canada is the problem. Also I lived in Toronto, the biggest issue is NOT immigration, the issue is the fact that they are tearing down cultural institutions to build condos. condos are a bigger problem than immigrants. Canada is pricing Canadians out of housing, then blaming immigrants. You guys need to see that for what it is, because a lot of us were lied to, Canada is lying to all of us, its citizens and its immigrants.

The poor unpractical courses in private colleges without any attandance is the problem, another problem is refusees and govt. allowed the asylum refusees , so many tourist visa converted into work , israelies asylum seeker , are the problem , students brings almost $60-70000 and loan , sells property , but after study he remains unskilled coz courses offered to them are useless from most of the colleges. problem is immigration system allowed unskilled people , useless courses , PR to tourist visa holders. Dear blame it on your politicians.They wanted cheap labor and that cheap labor also bring along millions of dollars that partial run Canadian economy .Then the international students majority of whom again from India add billions to the Canadian economy.If you need money and the cheap labor then you have no option but to bear them.Canadian are used to living on various government doles and they do not do the hard work while these immigrants are fighting for their survival, work terribly hard and that too at very cheap rates and they save a part of their earnings which eventually make them home owners.Canadian on the contrary used to living on government aid at many the levels, earn, spend and enjoy and thats the reason they are homeless.Sorry for making ripples.

You cant just blame federal or JT for this issue. Provisional governments are equally responsible as well. They allowed mass international students due to their (provincial) going down economy for various factors. They made false promises to students that students can get PRI in less than a year, otherwise do you think students were willing to go to these cold areas to study without any benefits? You made a promise, now its time to fulfill.\n2. International students funds the college/school by paying fee 3 times more than a Canadian one. There was no check and balance from provincial governments on school/colleges, because they liked the inflow of $$$ within their provinces.\n3. Totally agree with you that fake students should not be getting any merci. But are all the fake students from India, not really. Both the federal and provincial governments were allowing more Indian students because they wanted to have more economic ties with Indian growing economy. \n4. There are some valid points in the video. However, I didn't get it when you said there are people here who don't look Canadian and don't feel Canadian. Punjabi Sikhs from India have been part of Canada since the early 1900s, and alot more came in the 1970s.... So the sikhs have been part of Canada for a long time... Now, coming back to immigration point, blame the federal govt. and not the people.... I have alot points on why Indian people live in Brampton but..... I have to say that I am quite apalled to hear fellow Canadians being so openly racist--not to mention just plain ignorant. For any non-Canadians watching, let me assure you that the majority of us do not embrace or abide by these sentiments--we are for the most part a progressive, tolerant people who accept and, in many cases, welcome diversity and inclusion. We are, after all, a nation of immigrants--many of whom have escaped the oppression, injustice and intolerance that plague much of the undeveloped world--in pursuit of a better life. They bring their skills, hard work ethic and adaptability to a country that would wither on the vine without them. So, it's essential that we maintain meaningful and robust annual immigration rates to avoid the fates of countries like Japan, Italy, and South Korea: shrinking nations facing hopeless futures of economic decline and demographic collapse. We also need to maintain our pace with the behemoth to the south, or risk being utterly consumed by it. I hope and pray that most Canadians understand these basic truths--especially the younger ones. \n\nNow, I will admit that with regards to immigration and demographics there are always some logistical and pragmatic challenges that are part of any democratic, pluralistic society--of which we are, generally, a leader. And, sure, our government policies on immigration, employment, education, mental health, and housing need to be fine tuned to improve short and long term outcomes. But to place all of the blame on a single demographic slice of our overall makeup is simplistic, reductivist, dangerous and downright offensive. In a word, it is racist, pure and simple. And, moreover, with these immigrants forming culturally-insular enclaves/colonies.\n \nSo, it now comes to pass all these years after Enoch Powell, and Jean Raspail, warned us of would eventuate with dismantling borders, concludes with scores of acts of vile terrorism from 2004, being perpetrated by rabid Islamic fundamentalists. But, in spite of it being patently obvious to any halfwit that, mass-non-discriminatory immigration programs have destroyed the cultures of the host-societies, politicians in Britain, Canada, NZ, and of course, Australia, are totally committed to perpetuating large scale immigration intakes.

As a Canadian this video is only touching the tip of the iceberg. #1 Canada was built by immigrants (like my late grandparents) for immigrants, Immigrants regardless if they are here on a work or study permit are not the problem but the solution, always have been and always will be. Yes the part of the problem can be attributed to an inadequate affordable housing and yes the federal government does deserve blame for that. However as the 2nd largest nation in the world by land mass yet with a population less than California, we have a lot of underdeveloped areas from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and that is also the fault of the federal government regardless of political stripe. Regardless if people come to Canada to work or study, the federal government needs to make it more attractive to them to reside outside the BIG 3 cities of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver which have become overwhelmed with immigrants hence the strain on housing and healthcare

The shelters for single men in Toronto are terrible, for the most part. The majority of people don’t understand the plight of the homeless and blame them for the situation they are in! It’s a judgement made out of ignorance of people, who are so far removed from their reality.\n\nIt’s not just bad in Toronto … other cities are facing the same problem. What’s causing this? I strongly feel it’s how the governments (all three levels) are running things … they’re inept! There is no excuse for this … it’s mismanagement/misappropriation of tax payers money! And they’re sending. Ill ions of dollars outside of the country. Well charity should begin at home … take care of your citizens before you start giving money outside of the country! Just makes no sense!

It's great that you go out and document these issues but imo you lean too much on blaming the govt and not enough on the bad incentives that structure our system. Which I understand that govt is also part of these bad incentives but the business community is involved as well

These people say Canada suck, that's false. Canada is a great country, its the leadership who failed the people. And it's those people who keeps voting incompetent leaders are partly to blame, not Canada.

Everypone complains about housing shortage, and blame governments. Governments are not in home building business for the most part. Private companies are. Market forces determine speed of home construction. Apparently they don't see profit in it.

This is a national and global problem. Western countries have hit their economic growth peak and the rich are hiding their money. It's easy to blame foreign home buyers which in Toronto and Vancouver is a legitimate part of the housing problem but it more so has to do with some people not paying their equal share while they profit off of our labor and our spending. The system only works if the money comes back and creates some level of spending. The only issue we have with immigration is the downward push on wages and the Fast Pace at which it's happening because local infrastructure including housing Healthcare and transportation cannot accommodate such a rapid increase and again it's happening mostly in the big cities. This worked in the twenties and the 50s and the 70s to bring in mass number of immigrants because we had big economic growth at the time. We have the poorest industrial policy out of the G8 countries it's Dreadful it doesn't even exist

I teach ESL so I talk with a lot of newcomers and immigrants as part of my job. The case of one of my students sticks out in my mind. She originally came here from Ukraine because of the war. She wants to get PR status because she wants to settle here and make a life for herself and her family. She was explaining the process to me and she seemed really caught in a Catch 22. She held advanced degrees in mathematics and economics already, but in order to qualify here she would need to go back to school, which would require a different visa than the one she was here on. She was working, but at a low paying job where she was just making ends meet. So she has to decide whether to go back or stay, basically because of bureaucracy and no other reason. She was strongly considering going back home because of how expensive the cost of living is here. And I can't say I blame her. I was born here and if I had the resources, I would move. I would love to move abroad because the standard of living in most European countries is so much better.

I live in Canada as a Kenyan and I have been here for sometime .I work as a HR/Payroll Specialist also certified in the field. The problem is not Canada , Canada is a very good county which I love and I am gland God gave me the Opportunity to Come and settle here with my family.. The problem with some people coming here is lacking of knowledge how Canada works .It’s system is very far from how things work in Dubai or Gulf countries. A lot people are thinking than you can just come and get any job even without proper papers or you can earn a lot of money and then build wealth quickly. Which is A BIG FAT LIE. The tax in Canada keeps you humble. That is how Canada funds it's high end life many admire and want to be part of. The more you work in Canada the more tax you pay and many don't know this, and it is one of the main reasons why a lot of people start to regrets, because they realize there effort of working hard is not paying as they hoped. Another thing in Canada is next to impossible to get jobs or rent a place without proper paper work, like work permit, It is not like USA where you can use someone else papers to work. the The main available jobs , easy to get , don’t pay much. And also the cost of living is very high in some provinces like Ontario and BC. They hardly recognize credentials from outside unless you came through a job offer. Also because a lot of things in Canada are paid by the government through taxes, like health care, education. Unless you are tax paper with (and I repeat) Paper work, you cant access the benefit, including thee free food available for the needy. \nMany people forget Canada is looking for people to work for them. Not to grow rich and leave. The system is meant to keep you working. Unless you understand how a system of a country works, one will continue to blame it. Let people get well informed and well educated first , before they jump in the river. And it’s not Canada a lone , but any country in the world. Also a lot of these media post about Canada are misleading. And there is also another trap called debt, a lot of people once they getting working, rush to but things they cant afford and it becomes a stress instead of a blessings.\nIf you want to live well and enjoy Canada . One of the top thing to do is, go back to school once you enter in it, get a good education and you will get a good job. Also give yourself time to adjust. REMEMBER you are starting from square one. You are not continuing where you left in Kenya or in the country you get from. Also, the general social climate is not as friendly as those in USA for example. Not many people are willing to help for free. The most jobs advertised in Canada are the lower end paying jobs, which a lot of people pay a lot of money to come for, just to realize the job they left behind was far much better than this, but no one told them that, just because it said $18 hrs and you converted it to your country and looked a lot, doesnt mean it carries the same wait once you earn in from here. The living expense are very different. The reality is, it is not where you are , but whom you are and determination knows no barrier. Anyone who will trust God for help, work hard/smart and be patience in life, they will make. It might take longer than they expect, but they will get their eventually.

Am a kenyan Canadian and living in canada is the best decision I have ever taken. Lot of kenyan are paying agencies to come to canada through visit permit. People should blame agencies who promise them jobs not canada government . When you come to canada through visit permit you need to change to work permit or study permit. Actually there are thousands of kenyan who have come through visit permit and they are claiming refugee status. Canadian Government is doing its part by giving all claimed refugees shelter and give the money for upkeep. When you have visit permit you can't work in canada but you can convert it to work permit which is not easy but an expensive process. You need to get a company that can process you lMIA that labour market Impact assessment . You need skills to get a company to apply you Lmia or uende China ya maji you pay Indians who have companies in kenya $30-$40 to apply for you lmia. Or you can convert your visit permit to study permit and universities here are damn expensive. Getting a Canadian to marry you for status is very hard. In short am trying to say if you do not come through work permit or landed immigrants life wil be tough use the money you are paying agencies to start something in your country. They are so many opportunities in canada if you have the right papers or status. As for me am a happy single mom who as accomplished alot here and I love canada .

In Nigeria, You can be a graduate of a medical field with BSC or higher or Even a bachelor's of Law and still be jobless for several years unless you are self employed or have a strong connection, a friend of mine has a undergraduate degree in medicine but works as a shoe maker seeing there is no Job available and she skilled in shoe Making trade. The unemployment rate here has been increasing rapidly and on top of that the cost of living dosen't make up for that, even cost of living going high where no one understands and of course you have the bad governance to blame for that. Education system is here is also terrible, why would one be spending 8 years for a 5 year course due to Asuu strike, all these little things can be overlooked by the government but they are part of what dampens the growth of the economy NGL.\n\nNot saying Canada dosen't have it own downfalls, it does like the housing crisis and all but IMO I see they still strive better, one of which would include bringing in foreign workers of skilled Trade to help improve the economy, they go as far as sponsoring visa application and the employers go as far as getting LMIA for foreign workers and the health care system appears to be more stable based on what I have experienced. The educational system is also okay, my sis got funding worth $15k for her tuition whereas her tuition is $20k, they already paid up to 75% of it for her Thesis, mind you I said funding not scholarship, they are totally different. \n\nNot tryna criticize either country before some trolls attack me in my comment section but am only stating my experience and what has been happening in both sides of the fence, it as easy as that.
