What is Trump doing? This move by Trump raising the Tariffs is bad for the US people Very sad to hear what he is doing to Canada considering what Canada is trying to do to help the US. Now because of this Canada has to raise their Tariffs to survive.

Picking a trade war with Canada, Mexico, China and major economics is a very bad idea. It will not bring anybody to the negotiation table to get a better deal. It will drive them away from US partnership and they form alliances, new trade routes and partnerships, de-dollarization, etc. Just think why does a country needs USD when they cannot trade with US. BRICS have overtaken G7 in the overall GDP. So, In the end, US will be left alone with limited trading partners. US people will need to pay for tax + tariffs which will put them in a downward spiral.

So the American government protects Canada with our military and cost the American tax paying people billions of dollars to protect this country that we get nothing in return for our protection. I have no idea if Prime Minister Trudeau reads any of these comments or if his team does, but as an American, I am ashamed of our current government. In a sense I know why (optics), but in another sense, I don’t. Why do so many insist on retaliating against Trump’s tariffs with more or higher tariffs of their own? I think it’d be so much more effective if someone said, “You know, we’ve thought about this, and we have come to realize that tariffs are really bad. Oh, the solution is pretty simple, as is the reverse of tariffs. Most of Canadians savings are poured directly or through investment funds into Wall Street to increase US investment. The main export of US is bonds and stocks. Let the Canadian government introduce a tax on any investment on its residents on any asset in US currency or us denominated. Immediately billions and billions of dollars ( CAD ) would return into the country. Too bad for US treasury bonds and stocks.
