American here. Will be stepping up my purchase of Canadian goods. Canada isn’t a problem.

China, India and Japan (and some of the GCC nations) have a huge opportunity now to step in and replace America's influence on the world. By driving the MAGA philosophy, the focus on influence over the rest of the world will be reduced / removed and could be really good for the rest of the world as this influence is diluted to be taken up by multiple DIFFERENT nations instead.

A lot of us Americans remember learning about the tariff wars in history class that ended up in deciding fair trade was the better route. I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. Why would you want to upset a good partner, customer, and ally!? It’s Beyond my comprehension…. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. This would likely really help their economy and change the whole dynamic of all the things Trump has issues with. Fix it at the source not try to treat the symptoms.

Why does Canada bother with Tariffs on US goods?\nCost and CO2 pressures demand that Canada review its costs situation with energy and oil into the USA.\nMany costs have risen and they need to be passed on in a per mega Watt and Mega Barrel basis.\nFurthermore. Canada must step up its electrical and oil supply system maintenance to include twice daily stoppages to US bound energy so that system safety and performance is controlled.\nNext.\nCanada has a clear obligation to the USA to prevent a Russia/EU dependency occurring. So further stoppages to service delivery require urgent implementation.\nDo not worry. Emperor Trump will not sue. The US Lawyers know now they will not be paid by Trump.

This is a good step in the right direction. Cut down public sector spending. Since the targets for foreign students are much lower, and the anticipated immigration # should be lower in the next few years, we don't need as many immigration workers. I do hope Immigration Canada would prioritize applicants with higher education, skills that Canada need, etc.

Rest of the world countries must break relationship with US to teach solid lesson to US. Let's see how US economy do without other countries and banned dollar will be very good step.

don’t judge too much. I’m not saying this is good for anyone that is living in ????. we already have a very bad housing crisis etc happening . but i definitely understand why they come.i have great empathy for them .. i feel horrible for them. these people aren’t lining up for black Friday deals or Taylor Swift tickets. these human beings are living in poverty, in danger in their own home countries. True! West won't answer your question but You too are hiding significant details in this video. Also true, West relies in Indian talent however that does not mean the talented ppl should be above the social construct. In US DFW airport as soon as you exit the airport premises you will start smelling awful odor, walk few steps ahead you will see the reason, all the poles are covered with a grainy red paint like stuff, which as a proud Indian, you would definitely know what it is. Its not like the administration don't clean the place, however, it is still in that condition. This is just 1 of many reason why Indians are being looked at as nuisance these days. And finally, what is with Indian behavior, if they are treated with respect they misunderstand it with being submissive and try to dominate the people that are being respectful until they are shown their place and if they are misbehaved then they act as if they are being discriminated. So as a media person, it would be a good thing if you publish a video telling Indians to learn ethics, learn social sentiment, learn proper behavior, and most of all learn to quit back-stabbing behavior before they leave for other countries and I believe in a decade or two these misfortunate events will slowly start to decline.

Indian do not have good reputation in Europe. They come Europe and work cash in hand. Which put pressure on local employees. Most of the Asian countries doing same, so no doubt why European government are stepping in about visas..

Canadian budget in 2023 was around 450 billion and they received Indian student 12 billion directly from Indian students. So Canada has taken a good step so that the erosion from India can be limited. Moreover Indians think Canadian permit as a step to get US green card and many colleges in Canada is also having stake in that. \nEverything happened was for good, everything happens is for good and every future thing happens will also be for good.

So, who in Canada is going to step up and start the road to housing recovery? Will it be the lumber companies, who charge us more for our own wood than they do the Americans, Europeans and Chinese? Thank you for summarizing these key changes! Many problems are actually the Canadian immigration system not learning from the mistakes of the US system and now it’s suffering the same consequences. If Canada cuts down on those selected immigrations but still takes in refugees, it’s only going to make anti-immigrant sentiment worse. Selected immigrants are allowed into Canada to help alleviate Canadian issues…or at least people who come through Express Entry are less likely to become a burden. On the other hand, refugees, given their unfortunate circumstances, really need to rely on a lot of social services and resources to help them resettle. The US has eliminated pretty much all non-humanitarian immigration that’s why immigrants are so demonized there. Americans only feel the drags of refugees and asylum seekers (even though ethically we need to protect them) and there is no selected immigration to balance that out. Yet this round of Canadian policy change is heading exactly that direction.\n\nIt used to be international students in Canada are not paying a lot more tuition than Canadian students. But Canadian universities saw how much money universities in the US are making so they asked the federal government to change the policy to enable them to charge international students several times the regular tuition (whereas in countries like France, international students actually pay less than citizens). So now Canadian universities rely too much on international students to operate and it becomes an exploitative relationship even before students step foot on the campus. The new PGWP eligibility is awful because students can make contributions in every field. It might (and that's a big if) address the pressing problems, but it won't help Canada grow.\n\nI thought the new language requirement was interesting. Some Canadians who immigrated decades ago when the bar was really low still speak English poorly and now they are saying people can’t come to Canada because their language skills are not sufficient. Another point about language is if you apply through Express Entry now, even if you scored the highest language score, given how competitive the pool is, you still won’t get selected. So it’s a given that you need to be fluent in one of the languages at least to get an invitation. Express Entry also selects only the top people, I saw the head of The Institute for Canadian Citizenship in interviews talking about those top-tier people only expect the best treatment/lifestyle when they come to Canada. That's why many of them leave after seeing these Canadian problems play out. But I believe a good Canadian life is not about living in a high rise in Vancouver and Toronto, driving an expensive car, or buying luxury items...it's about the communities, nature and middle-class comfort. So the system is giving PRs to the wrong kind of people (just like mismatched people when hiring that don't align with company values).\n\nThis brings me to the last frustrating issue. There were so many people who attended “fake” universities and bought “fake” jobs to earn points to get an Express Entry invitation. And it's clear that the government wasn't proactively catching these abuses. They are taking up spots from those who try to earn the points fair and square. If I understand correctly, Canada doesn’t send these people away if they are found out (since some of them were scammed). So they still take up immigration quotas.\n\nI have wanted to move to Canada for a long time. I have visited Canada many times, hiking trails through the coastline and fjords, climbing mountains and glaciers. I lived in Montreal for two months to improve my French and I was told by my homestay family that I was the first student they had who didn’t complain about the cold (I wish the winter never ends so I can skate or xc ski in the parks year-round). I have probably seen more Canada than many Canadians and I love every bit of it. But the opportunity for me to even get a shot to move there is pretty much nonexistent now. the main concept of any foreign govt giving permanent residency is whether you fulfil the need for them, so this is good for people who have some skills and can positively contribute but anyone who just wants to go for the sake of going there is not going to get anything , they better study and then return .. this is nothing different from UK, its very hard to get Tier 2 visa in UK unless your job is in shortage or in the occupation list but the difference is that Canada has been very lenient in the past allowing people clearing just 10 years of schooling also getting student visas, this has not happened in UK as people come to study bachelor's or master when they have completed full 12+ years of schooling in their home country.. may be it was needed then in Canada but now its not the same case..so if govt is taking this step its first in the interest of the local people including the ones who have gained citizenship with proper procedure..

This protest is a joke! They know what they signed up for before coming to Canada. So,  they should work within the rules and find a way to legally settle (if they can) or leave. \n\n\nHowever, Canadians deserve to know more about this mess which is an outcome of aggressive marketing by Private colleges and the government's greed to get quick cash into the Canadian economy. Here are some clarifications to note:\n\n\n1. In the last six years, 1.5 million international students brought a minimum of $67,500,000,000 direct cash into the Canadian economy. (Assuming a min $40-45000 per student for 2 year diploma, between to $100,000 - 150,000 for undergrad, and around $50,000 for Masters degrees). Usually, international students have to pay most of this money before applying for the study visa. \n\n\n2. These colleges employ Canadians for their day to day operations. From cleaning, maintainance, administration to teaching, each college operates with approx 20-30million budget. So, more students lead to more employment for Canadians who further pay taxes.\n\n\n3. All students start work straightaway, pay taxes, and do not qualify for social security. They do not qualify for any student loans by Canadian govt or banks. So, they generate revenue for Canada through their work and taxes. The thing that govt LOVES.\n\n\n4. These students become new consumers and their expenditure generate revenues for local businesses.\n\n\n5. Most Colleges would not survive without international students. Which is good in the sense that only quality colleges will survive and other hanky panky colleges would shut down. However, such closures will lead to job losses, bankruptcy when the colleges won't be able to afford their expenses.\n\n\nSo, considering these factors it will be an industry collapse. Govt needs to control immigration. They need to introduce intelligent policies. The steps that current govt is currently taking are politically motivated not rational.

Parents come to Canada to provide free babysitting and cooking services to grandchildren . If they feel lonely it’s because they are not here to make friends but to stay at home . I one case , a grandparent fell ill in Canada and was sent back to India because of inadequate health insurance to take care of himself there on his own while the grandmother was not allowed to go and continued to babysit . These grandparents often are subjected to huge indignities. Lot of comments on how India is so good and Canada so bad . That is so ridiculous. I do not see people immigrating from Canada to India . I do not understand the tale about not getting fresh vegetables . Just step into Loblaws , Zehr , Metro and see what a lie it is . I agree many ethnic stores stock stale vegetables kept in unhealthy conditions . If food doesn’t taste good it’s became no one in the household , neither the grandparents nor the parents , can cook. That is because in India much of cooking is done by servants .

Really good video. But as a Canadian, I also want to mention foreign workers. Foreign workers have a lower minimum wage than Canadians. This makes it nearly impossible for young Canadians to find jobs, as companies which you would think would mostly hire teens (Fast food) just wait until a foreign worker steps up. Go to the US, you see a McDonald's with a bunch of teens in it, go to Canada, and that McDonald's has only foreign workers in it.

Another skill worker here. Although Germany provides you with a relative basic life, definitely it is not a good place for skilled workers and worse it will not motivate you to be better and try for higher places. In a word it will nullify your dreams and ambitions. \nSo my recommendation: use it as your first step to reach to higher places.

The truth of the matter is that this program has been abused for decades and decades by Canadian business. So agree with you Alina! We came to Canada from Ukraine in 2009, we were around the same age you are now. We came to Saskatchewan, settled happily in Saskatoon and we really liked this city despite harsh winters. Unfortunately, bcos of rising living costs, homelessness, and addictions issues happening in a city right now, had to move to a smaller city in SK in 2021. Realizing, we made the right choice while listening to friends who have to pick up extra shifts and find one more job to afford things they used to afford in the past with no problems. It's all about surviving now, not about living. If I had a choice, I would have stayed in Saskatoon, and wouldn't have moved to a smaller place just to be able to go on vacation. Too bad, you have to choose one or the other now. We are contemplating about our next step as well. It might be one of Eastern European countries, we'll see what the future holds for us. I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. The people in the west have had no say in the faulty governments we have had as Ontario and Quebec have put the final nails in our coffin when they elected that buffoon JT for a third consecutive term and then the NDP kisses his butt to join up and torture us more when most sane Canadians did not ask for this. Immigrants are being imported by this idiot called our PM and handed out living accommodations, jobs and our hard earned $$ that he stole from us while our own people fall deeper into the quagmire. Many of these immigrants are bringing their hatreds and views with them to are country and are causing chaos. We are heavily taxed for driving our cars and heating our houses on FALSE pretenses with the govt saying it is to save the world - nice try - BS. The government and schools are pushing the alphabet children protocol per the WEF. These are just a few things that are wrong with this country that is sinking quicker than the Titanic. Everything this country stood for is now gone. It is so obvious to anyone that doesn't consume the main stream medias programming what is going on here (and when you do look at it you see how ridiculous what they report, how they report, they are no longer reporters but merely reading the scripts they have been handed by the powers that be) , however there are far too many people with their faces in their phones that are zombies today which is what the governments want. It's sad to see how governments around the world have abandoned their people and their culture with an agenda that clearly is shared amongst the elites of the world. If you step back and analyse countries throughout North America and a good portion of Europe, its evident there is a common goal they all share. Whether it's the WEF or NWO, there is a group orchestrating the demise of civilization. My wife and I are planning on moving far away from Southern Ontario in the hopes we can still find the essence of being Canadian in the east coast. Beyond that we will travel to the Orient in winters... for now. The government is like this, because there is no Rental cap, and they allow Owners to rent out places for whatever they want in whatever shape. The government won't step into to ensure: rent paid goes towards your credit score, living conditions are good in these units, owners arnt over charging, and are Legal units; so then why would the Government step in now to help Evict tenants, and help owners be able to rent without fear this will happen to them/again. FYI Housing crisis is Government issue as well, as they are allowing Owners to be slimy as well in regards to doing and charging whatever they feel, for whatever they have (good living condition or not). The government created this craziness; of course they will take forever to fix it; like tax time- if we owed them money they want it ASAP, yet they owe us money- they take it into investigation (between now and a year etc) and then they eventually pay it out(if they don't decide to reevaluate your file)... The government broke it; they'll take forever to (not) fix it.

There are now quite a few news stories in Canada of immigrants leaving the country - some back home and others to the USA and other places. Many just get a Canadian passport and then leave. There are public health care and pensions, so it can be an asset and also a convenient travel document to have. A lot of Canadian university graduates have a very hard time finding work in their fields and a lot of them look to the US for a better future. Both immigration and unemployment in Canada are much higher that in the US - so more people are chasing fewer jobs that often pay less and are taxed more than in the USA. Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. The trend of migration from Canada to the US would only increase much more in the future as it is going currently, and its role as a stepping stone to migration to the US could increase. The way this would be seen by many in Canada is that they are losing valuable people to the USA whom they consider assets, since a lot of officials have been trying to bring in more people into the country, but not everyone wants to stay in Canada nowadays because of a lack of jobs and opportunities. Canada is quite laissez-faire about migration, with Toronto being a sanctuary city as well.

I've been living in Canada for the last 10 years ( came here as an international student), and now applying for my permanent residency. Went through high school, post secondary, and now working a full-time job in my field of study. I would say it's long overdue for Canada to scale down on its immigration policies (yes, I've had this thought even when I was a student so anyone who thinks I switched teams can shut up). There are simply not enough houses to accommodate Canadian, let alone immigrants. A lot of them only work minimum wage jobs which neither help the country with shortages in other fields nor their careers in the long term, and overall it gives immigrants a bad rap in the eyes of Canadian citizen. The recent changes in immigration imo is a good first step in the right direction.\n\nEdit: Also I'd like to add that if you're leaving your own home country to join another for a better life, it's your responsibility to adapt and contribute to their society, not the other way around. If you can't do that, stay in your home country.

Immigration is a good thing when laws are followed and processes are adhered to. The influx of people over the last few years of liberals opening the flood gates has proven that Canada ca NOT handle this influx and it is going to get worse before it gets better. I think, by rights, the government needs to take a step back and start overhauling the student visa program that has been reported as ongoing through fraudulent activity. I am shocked that, a government that literally doubled its manpower since 2015 is incapable of monitoring and better processing immigrants.

I was out walking my dog and these 2 immigrants approached me and asked me if I would like to talk about Jesus. I suddenly had an uneasy feeling. I replied if you take one step closer to me you will need more than Jesus so step away now. Can't even to for a walk without being approached by them. I've had other dealings with them and they have not been good. They are entitled and thing we should bow at their feet. Time to deport a few million.

South Asian Indians are fourth generation Canadians and are educated, successful and have assimilated with the European culture. The french lady should see Montreal, it is cool to see Indians, Chinese speaking French. Do you ask why there are too many Chinese in Chinatown? Sadly the new immigration are bad Trudeau policies that India wanted deported back. Others are temporary honest Indian students that are being ripped off by Canadian wrong policies of shameless cash grab. Assimilation for new immigrants could be something in common e.g. free classical piano lessons for everyone in school. Music and language is a great first step in communication. The drug problem has nothing to do with immigration, it is the result of their own culture of drug abuse and bad Canadian policies. I think it is sad that the woman seems to be so negative without realizing the she has to care and use her power for good by demanding that no Canadian should be on the streets, this is why ALL Canadians (especially include South Asian Indians) pay taxes. where is our money going? is not the Canadian Government responsible for the welfare of ALL Canadians? we were the peacekeepers. Canada is a puppet to western primitive thinking foreign policy in a proxy war to destroy beautiful Christian Russia?? Trump has outsmarted Trudeau on every agreement. Canadians are paying double to a country that wants our water!!! I wish Senior Trudeau was here to protect Canadians.

Something tells me they don't want the Refugees. UAE has already stated they did not want them because of the terrorism threat. No body seems excited to step up in the region, which isn't exactly good news for Canada since Canada has let in thousands of these terrorists, and those wishing to join them.

Finally, we have our first Black speaker. What does this say about us? It's a mixed bag of good and bad. It's a positive step forward, but it's also disheartening that it took so long to reach this milestone. However, let's not mistake this achievement as a sign that racism is no longer an issue in our country.
