The fact that you could get the same amount of money on CERB as working a full time job that pays above minimum wage. I made $2 above minimum and I got about $100 above CERB over the month....... All this is why so many said no to working their backsides off to live paycheque to paycheque. Myself, I need to have a routine. So I went back to work ASAP after my job being eliminated at the start of the pandemic. Now everywhere I look I do not recognize Canada. I feel like i'm in a different country. Undocumented immigrants contributed nearly $100 billion to the economy & social security in 2022 alone. They pay the same sales taxes we do. Imagine all the nurses and workers at hospitals that are from other countries. I watched them arresting nurses. Arresting tab drivers Uber drivers. I watched them raid schools and arrest children. I watched them put these poor people in jails with real criminals. All the immigrants loved me. I was actually in a federal and ICE facility. So I literally saw all of the immigrants. I protected them from the racist white people. I'm from Tampa Florida, so I'm used to the jails and prisons being majority, black guys. But in Colorado, it's white supremace, gangs and Mexican gangs. What's even more sickening? Is people from Washington would come in and take some of the Indians out. And when they came back, I would ask them questions and they said that the government people would get information on their family back in India and see if they could pay 50k to stay in America. It was sickening. I found out that what they were doing was deporting. Poor people and the people that have money back in their country. They have their families send money and let them stay. I saw it with my own eyes.

Montrealer here. You can send your kids to any school you can afford. If they're destined to be part of the elite (because you have a lot of money, or whatever), they'll fit right in. Just make sure you can afford all the years it'll take for them to graduate. Otherwise, the switch could be a bit rough on them.\n\nIf you drive, invest in winter tires, even if the province you're in don't make them mandatory. They sure are in Quebec, and they make a big difference while driving in snow.\n\nDon't wear your winter clothes (big puffy jackets, knit hat and scarf, etc.) before winter. Get some in-between-seasons clothes (polar sweaters and jackets, long sleeves t-shirts, cotton scarfs, hiking boots, etc.) If you dress super warm while still in fall, you'll freeze come winter. You have to give your body a chance to acclimate itself to the lower temperature. \n\nWhen buying clothes for winter, the secret to being warm is NOTHING TIGHT. Get a loose jacket, and boots you can move your toes in, with a good sole (no thin cute leather boots please, they are not for winter, just for show), and wear them with fluffy socks, no tight bands. Also, get mittens instead of gloves, much much warmer. And a loose tuque, or ear muffs with the hood of your jacket.\n\nAnd get a pair of ice cleats, for those days when everything is covered in ice. Or learn to skate ! ?

I could honestly write an entire book about this—I’ve been living in Costa Rica for the past three years, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. My personal experience has been okay, because I was lucky enough to be contracted directly by the company, so I didn’t have to deal with any agencies (best-case scenario). BUT wow, the struggles are so real. Life abroad is insanely expensive! Sure, you might earn more, but all that money? It goes straight to bills, and don’t even get me started on the “black tax”—if you know, you know?. Plus Everyone back home just assumes you’re living the dream, lounging on the beach like a millionaire, when in reality, you’re just trying to stay afloat! NOT TO MENTION THE MENATL HEALTH, Premium tears!

A Ukrainian immigrant here. Absolutely in love with beautiful canadian nature, cute little houses, especially townhouses in toronto, just so wholesome. As for life, you gotta be some sort of specialist like a doctor, or a proper construction worker, or a truck driver to have a decent life that goes beyond just getting by and eking out an existence. On my own i can make enough money for food and rent, but thats about it, and im happy about it, really, i get to be alive thanks to canada, but i really hope i could move out of here as soon as it becomes safe, or just move to a cheaper country thats a decent distance away from russia. I ended up being unemployed and i do feel like im in quite a real danger on eventually becoming homeless if i dont manage to procure a job, and you know how the job market is now. As for health care, i simply dont have access to it, at least i dont have a family doctor and have been trying for a while to get one. I haven't tried walking ins yet since i prioritize food over health now but i might someday. I just hope that whatever sickness bugs me is minor, i cant do anything about it. My teeth hurt too, but i cant afford a dentist, and ive found one Clinique in toronto that helps immigrants fix their teeth for cheap, they can help you with three teeth in total, and i've used up one of it, and saving the rest for real emergencies. I cant eat anything except for real soft food, and i know im not gonna get any help i could afford any time soon.\nOnce i get a job i will be saving as much money as i can to leave Canada, i don't know where yet but i'm doing my research and hopefully will find a place, and if not well, sucks to suck. It's hard for everybody out there, i'm just one of the millions if not billions who go through that.\n\nAlso I don’t think ‘nobody wants to live in Canada’ is entirely accurate. It seems that the idea of canada, and the way its marketed, attracts a lot of new immigrants, and a lot of people would love a chance to live in Canada. It's simply not true. But after the fact , once they have , i could believe that some are not willing to stay and might regret the decision of moving in the first place.

I have to disagree with the cost of living. Canada is higher than the us on mostly everything. If you make the same amount of money in the us as you do in Canada your quality of life is much better. Houses in California cost as much as houses in London Ontario…. Gas in Canada cost me 100 per tank in California it is 80. Food cost less in California, cars are way cheaper. You can get a new truck for 40k ish in Canada lucky to get one for 60k, car insurance in cheap in the us you hear on the radio get insurance for 30$ a month it’s like 300$ in Canada, phone and internet is cheap in us Canada it’s ridiculous. I could go on but you get the picture. Again if you make the same amount of money you live way better in the us.

I can tell you one of the major reasons. It is the fact that these immigrants from India do not want to assimilate into Canada. Instead they bring their ways with them into Canada and some of those “ways”, are not acceptable in Canada. One example of that is the whole using the bathroom on the beach. But one that hits hard for me is the insane amount of immigrants that are harvesting spawning salmon with nets, without any of the properly paperwork that is needed to fish salmon with a rod. Using a net is illegal, I know they know it because when I catch them doing this. They become quiet and all of a sudden, after hearing them just speaking English, they pretend they do not know English… I can tell you this is all true. The other thing I have seen with my eyes is shop lifting from the local grocery store. I have never seen that before, not ever in all my years living here. It would be somewhat different if they were stealing essential items and essential foods. But they are not doing that, they are stealing all the luxury items. I am a white Canadian and I am proud of it, but guess what. I am also proud of the fact that I have a doctor that came from India and his family is thriving here. It makes me proud that he chose our country try to come to, with his educational background, it also makes me proud that he and his family have taken the time to try and assimilate into our culture. When I say assimilate by the way, I do not want them or and immigrant to completely abandon their cultures, I just would prefer it if they assimilate to the point where we can have a healthy community instead of all these separate cultural areas in our towns and cities. I love the fact that you spoke some harsh truths here sir, much respect to you and your family sir. I hope you can continue making such informative videos for people to learn from. The other thing I have to add is that the word racism is thrown around too much and too easily in our current woke cultural climate here in Canada and this is just making the immigration issues worse because it produces a culture of fear for those Canadians that would like to help educate those immigrants that need help. But they do not do so because they are afraid of being labeled a racist or some other word and having their livelihoods and overall lives ruined. I am in a position in life where I do not care if people want to say such things about me. I am also well educated and in the position to come up with well articulated arguments in my defence. My main issue with immigration that bothers me more than the rest not only affects us Canadians but also affects the immigrants as well. Ok so before mass immigration was a thing here in Canada our healthcare system that we all used to be extremely proud of the as showing too many cracks and we knew it was falling apart. You think the government would place more funding into the healthcare system. Well that has not happened and if anything they have taken more funds away from our healthcare system than any other time in our country’s history. So before the mass immigration begun we had a major issue with having way too many patients and not enough medical staff to adequately treat everyone in a timely and healthy manner. So now think about that, the healthcare system was already stressed with the current population before mass immigration. How do you think adding waves and waves of more people every year via mass immigration is affecting that system? The answer is this… if the system was stressed beforehand, it is collapsing now. I am one of the lucky few that has a family doctor right now. It takes three months the just for me to see her… If I have an emergency and have to call 911, the ambulance will take me up to the local ER and then I will be wheeled out to the waiting room, which defeats the purpose of me calling 911 for a ambulance. I have waited two days at the local ER just to see a doctor. So here is where it affects the immigrants coming in. If a Canadian that was here before you is already having major issues with the healthcare, then I can only imagine how hard it will be for a new citizen to our country, nuff said really… the local er near me had a person die in the waiting room this past January. Add to this fact that I am actually pretty sick at the moment and so are my parents and you can understand why I am upset about our failing healthcare system. The politicians do not have to worry about our such issues though because they can afford to pay to go outside of Canada and pay cold hard cash for medical treatment. That is why they do not mind removing funds from our healthcare system, it will not affect them and they get to line their pockets with more of our tax money… I honestly place most of the blame for what is going on right now on Trudeau’s government and not the immigrants. The immigrants could help make this crappy situation a lot better for both of our parties though if they tried a little harder to adapt to our ways of life here. When in Canada try to live like a Canadian, I do not think that is asking much. Again, as for racism, I believe in judging a person by their actions and not by the colour of their skin. Racism is such an antiquated way of thinking… Our skin colours maybe different, just like our cultural backgrounds, but after all is said and done we are all members of the human race. Canadians are more angry now than they have ever been. The RCMP have been advised about this across the whole of Canada, so you know it is a real issue. I can control myself and will never snap at others due to how frustrated I am, so I would like to apologize to those of you that may have a bad experience with another frustrated Canadian. NO!\n\n3- Did the Canadian government provide the newly arrived immigrants with a sufficient monthly payment, including the rent of a house befitting human dignity, balanced and sufficient nutrition expenses, summer and winter clothing, daily transportation costs within the city, monthly house bills, communication and correspondence expenses, equal and sufficient education payment, cultural activities and a daily pocket money so that they can live humanely?...... NO!\n\n4- Did the Canadian government provide the newly arrived immigrants with a solid, safe and clean social structure where they can live freely without any risk to themselves and their families, where they feel completely safe and without any fear, anxiety and concern in terms of attack and crime?....... NO!\n\n5- Did the Canadian government provide the newly arrived immigrants with a democratic state and a fair social society structure where there is no racism, discrimination, inequality of opportunity, favoritism, incompetence and harassment, whether covert or overt?........ NO!\n\n6- Did the Canadian government grant any right to vote or be elected to immigrants who came to the country legally during their stay in Canada until they became citizens, did they give them the right to vote for the party or people who would govern them, did they give them the right to vote at least in local elections other than general elections? ....... NO!\n\n-So, do you think that the Canadian government, which does not fulfill any of these, is a country ready to accept immigrants? ....... OF COURSE NO!\n\nTHEN, the Canadian State and its government do not have the right to say a single word about immigrants, and the Canadian State should now prepare the trillions of dollars that the immigrants themselves will pay as a result of the compensation lawsuits they will file against all these human rights violations that the state has implemented against immigrants for years, in a planned and systematic manner, unfairly and mercilessly. A few years ago I went to university of Toronto for free dental care, cost me 350. Bucks was waste of my time and money, never in my life I though that a employee of the university believed she had more rights than I, due to loss of my job 40 years I found myself in a very shita situation. No wonder we have so many low-skilled immigrants in recent years. Thanks to this dumbest policy issued in 2020, we basically opened the door and welcomed visitors to get work permits whenever they want. labor shortage due to covid?\nShould have ended this stupid policy in 2022 when everything was opening up and getting better already. Also, instead of improving the working environment and coming up with solutions for the local Canadian workforce to cope with covid impacts, we just welcomed all random visitors to come to Canada to work. all these indian new comers in the past 3-4 years have used the loopholes of this policy with the help of unethical Indian immigration agents and employers who are only trying to save money to provide them employment letters so they could get work permits \nNo wonder we have so many low skilled Indians that have brought and created issues in Canada. Have we noticed car accident rates increase? The unethical visits to the food bank? It also takes away from from Canadians getting into Canadian colleges and universities as the international students get charged higher tuition fees. More money for the universities. Canadian students end up going over seas. I have a few friends whose kids tried getting into medical school here but were refused. They ended up in Australia, in medical school and are living there now as doctors. We could have used them here.

International students could be one reason for this too, they come here and get work permit and work and send money in India, the citizens don’t get a job and they don’t invest them .

No Offence to anyone but when you applied to come here as a student or tfw you had to prove and swear that you will go back home once your studies or work permit is done , its a part of the cbsa and irrc questioning if your protesting you are breaking the rules and laws of your visa and you are subject to deportation because you lied to immigration and the cbsa , i lived in another country for 3 years during covid i could stay up to 3 years with my visa , my last renewal the officer told me sir this is the last renewal you will have to leave so that is what i did i respected the laws of the host country and went home , i feel sorry the students were lied to by the schools the government and THEIR own People telling them they will get pr give us 20k-30k cdn $ but thats not our problem .... vet the agencies yourself before applying , come here legally and there is no issue , but don't think our country has to give you pr or CITIZONSHIP just because you spent allot of money or worked here pr and CITIZONSHIP is a privilege NOT A RIGHT , when you had the interview with immigration and the cbsa what did you Promise i will leave didn't you ? time to start packing like i did go home and better your country with the knowledge you go from here if you dont break the rules you can always come back Legally god bless and good luck

Why some skilled immigrants are leaving germany? I have many friends who did that- IT, finances, etc. 1. Very high taxes and thus net salaries comparable to Eastern Europe. I did plenty of studies back in 2017 because I got a job offer in Canada. I paid the money to the immigration lawyer. As a qualified artisan, a qualified artisan with a red seal certificate which Canada introduced in my country, they told me that I need to pay and get my qualifications redone and tested again. As much as I could make more money by living in the States no amount of money could make the anxiety of potential school shootings worth it. I know my kids have essentially 0% chance of that in Canada. Also getting cancer won't ruin me and my whole extended family financially. I am sorry to hear this. I am in the same boat. I moved here around 37 years ago and found this country much better compared to my old country, especially when the army killed students. I decided to stay in Calgary, Canada. What makes me sad is seeing Canada going down the drain. While seeing everything getting worse, my old country becomes a prosperous, advanced and powerful country. My classmates back there were mostly high-level leaders, and some of them became elites. As the best student in the class, I could not get position even close to theirs. Only good thing is that I have been making a lot of money due to my strong technical knowledge and the capability to do difficult work. I hope I can at least maintain the same living standard when i am old, but it looks less and less certain. If I realized this at your age, I would have moved back.

Hi! I'm an American with the 'dream' of immigrating to Canada for many years. Got permanent residency and am working in Montreal for the summer to try it out and.... really shocked about the high taxes vs. the quality of the roads for example :/ What social benefits are Canadians really getting? Although the pace of life and culture is nice, it is hard to make less money here as a teacher than I could be in the US, and with some bullsh*t to put up with (pardon my language). And although I feel safe here, I can't believe how car thefts are so brazen and common. I might just become a seasonal visitor after all.

Canadian immigration is a joke. I earned a masters here from a reputed university, spent so much time and money, 6 years later I became a permanent resident. I was so grateful. Now, anyone with a sob story in the name of “persecution” can just come here and actually get government money for a good while to settle in. And now, we have entire flight crews just simply “claiming” asylum. The government has made everyone who took the right channels, faced so many hardships in the way are effing losers who could’ve just gotten in through the many bogus channels. i love this country, but it has gone to the dogs steadily since 2015.

Some have tried to enter Japan, but could not get in. They didn’t have employment, no funds, no home in to live in Japan. And Japan has a large elderly population. So they have rightly said sorry we can’t take them on. We have an elderly population to look after. What I find very strange is that immigration is an issue ONLY in the western world . In other countries it is not and mainly because if you are a foreigner you will always be a foreigner so things are clear from the start . \nSo as a foreigner you will have to put your kids in private schools , get a private health insurance etc …basically you will have to do what the wealthy locals are doing , difference is that they could use the public services but they don’t . \nAnd so for if you cannot afford to bring your family (also the type of visa you get will tell you if you can ) then you come by yourself , make your money and go back home . So the system automatically regulates itself . Simple .

This isn’t totally accurate, and comparing Canada to the US is like comparing apples to oranges, a more apt comparison would be Canada and Australia (similar government structure, similar population, similar economy) unlike the us that has 8x our population and is the richest country in the world lol. \n\nThat being said the problems with the Canadian economy are pretty straightforward imo, for housing it’s simple, the Canadian government has invested heavily into the real estate market with things like the Canada pension plan being largely invested into the CPP. There is also a huge amount of people who have banked their retirement on the value of their home, for the most part these are blue collar workers. These two things combined have created a huge problem for the government, it basically has to choose between fixing the worsening housing crisis and in the process wipe out the savings and retirement accounts of millions of Canadians or let the problem get worse and worse until something boils over. This problem is also being compounded by the increasing number of international students being misled into coming here, they are being promised world class education but are receiving bogus diplomas from what are essentially sham colleges (thanks Ford). \n\nWhen looking at the competition in the country it’s a more complicated problem than people like to admit, in order to not become a client state of the US we have to place stronger protections on our industries and media, this insures that Canadian money stays within the Canadian market but has the drawback of discouraging competition. Now if you ask me the solution to this is to nationalize large industries that are being controlled by large oligopolies who unnecessarily manipulate the price of goods like Bell, Rogers, Loblaws, air Canada, petrol Canada, etc. By taking control of these industries the government could have better control of the price of goods and should result in better prices for consumers in turn we’re leaving some of the pressure placed on us by the cost of living crisis. This worked wonders for alcohol which in Ontario brings in 1.5 billion in revenue for the government each year, imagine how much internet, electricity, phone service and produce could bring in.

Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. A long time ago, it used to be beneficial to go to cities where you could get a job making 5-10x the money you could in a rural town. Now it's the opposite. Current cities have reached their maximum growth because the first wavers have decided to pull up the ladder. They want their investments in property to remain high so they block new construction that would otherwise lower their house prices. And that's totally fair. They want to have the maximum standard of living and that's the best way to do it. Fair market bro. But a lot of people, especially politicians, can't plan more than 6 months in advance because of elections. Bad management in certain cities instead of looking for new markets. Medium sized cities are the next best option, since they can actually grow somewhat. The absolute best option is to get an education debt free and then work remotely in a very cheap area with all the luxuries you want.
