The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.

What a joke you are PM Trudeau! Do you really think your puny little 25% tariffs on America is going to hurt us? We, Americans, shall see you come begging, on your knees, for forgiveness?. You chose your path. You still have a time to turn from path, but that will require you to admit your crimes against Canadians and American?. Which I believe you will not do?

I could not be more assured,as a Canadian, by the great unscripted,direct speech our leader,Prime Minister Trudeau, has delivered to Canadians and Americans. Everyday people will hurt through this and remember, it will not affect the oligarchy Trump has created, because they can withstand downturns in economies through wealth. His goal is to crush the Canadian economy in the guise of creating better paying jobs for American. Complete unhinged fallacy.

This is HEARTBREAKING, because Trudeau is speaking to EVERYONE like a leader SHOULD!!! I would open the market for Chinese EV if I were canadian PM, this just to hurt Elon Musk and Tesla, and I would put tariffs on american EV.

Everyone thinks that this is Canada standing up, but what this means is that the Canadians with our economy that is 1/10 that of the US will be taxed at 25% on our imports, this is going to hurt canadians way more than the retaliatory terrifs will hurt the americans. This may also lead to an escalated response from the US exacerbating the effect. Trudeau and others can't seem to grasp that there may be a long term strategy from Trump and this is playing into it. \n\nThe truth of all of it is that Trump does not like Justin Trudeau or the Liberal government.

I am a Proud American that is so damned ashamed of my Federal Goverment and how they are treating our Canadian and Mexican neighbor and North American peers, please except my apologies for how you are being treated, most of us American DO NOT agree with what the White House is doing. Canadians are used to tightening their belts and pulling together and remember that when our trade deals are ratified with other countries and those relationships are built and new trade routes are forged bypassing the u.s. then the u.s. will be a stand alone country wait until Canadas oil and gas and electricity is turned , and let's talk about Canadas potash and just about everything else will be gone let's not forget about tourism because instead of making north America stronger Canada will be stronger and once we start getting fair market value for Canadian energy and our national debt is gone then it'll be bye bye Americans. When are people going to realize that the Tariffs have nothing to do with fentanyl crossing the Canadian border, that is just a smoke screen. the real reason is the fact that Trump is Putin's puppet and Canada is aligned with Ukraine, so now they are trying to hurt and possibly ruin Canadas economy. Canada has the winning hand. Canada has resources that USA needs to survive. USA has nothing to offer to Canada to survive. If Canada should cut energy to USA, let’s see who is the boss. For say, Canada is the biggest producer for potash, a fertilizer needed for the American fields. Canada will suffer from these tariffs but USA will cash down harder. I cannot believe on his last days as PM, he finally started fighting fentanyl, under the threat of tariffs and he wonders why they still put them in place. As a European having lived in both Canada and the United States for prolonged times, my view is this: Canadians are basically the same as Americans but with Health Care. They have a common heritage and history and this is like a brother turning evil and hurting its siblings. Trump is smart? I don't think so, he comes across as a low IQ individual born with privileges, heck he has been bankrupt what is it four times? Right now he thinks he is making America Great again but instead he is on a path to bankrupt even the US Economy. These kind of things in history often have caused actual physical War and he talks about Zelenski is toying with a 3rd world war. Wouldn't it be funny (and not in a comical sense) if in fact Trump causes the 3rd world war with his actions instead?

It is said that if America imposes a tarrif on Canada, then Americans will pay more for Canadian goods. Possibly electricity too. Now, if Canada mirrors the actions of the US, then Canadians will have to pay more for American goods. So we are all just hurting ourselves in a way. Don't you love modern leadership? The automotive industry will just come back and have to eat the margin losses until they recoup.
