Trump has the right to do what's best for America, but Canada needs to start building a strong partnership with more stable and predictable countries like China and certain EU nations. No more blindly following the US in their foreign policy endeavors and wars for Israel.

I still can't believe that we are being attacked by our best ally. The country that is supposed to represent freedom. The US administration is behaving worse than Russia. The EU and North American allies have been abandoned and assaulted. The vacating of the leadership position in the free world will be taken advantage of by other countries. How much damage has to be done?\n\nTo the Canadian government: Open maximum trade to the EU and friendly countries in Asian the short fall must be attempted to be spanned.

People in the EU also died for you! I liked the USA very much, I spent my vacation there but I will not do that anymore, I will no longer buy American products. I've always respected Canada as a intelligent, polite but tough as nails country. I have not and will not forget how you helped liberate my grandparents by spearheading into their German-occupied country and for providing refuge for their royal family. I can only hope that the special relations between Canada and the EU will become warmer instead of colder like the direction that has been chosen by the US.

I'm European and I am so proud about Mr. Trudeau and his team. What an intelligent people. The speech is simple to understand but together it is so strong and says all that matters. Applause. 20-40 years ago US was seen as a dream country here in EU, every east European dreamed to live there, but not anymore. Today most would not go to US to live even if they are payed to do so. US reputation is in historical downfall.

He makes me proud to be Canadian, and make no mistake, trump won’t win this war…it’s not just us, the EU just announced €800 billion in retaliatory tariffs. Mexico is also hitting back hard..the only winner of this trade war is the super wealthy, but that won’t last, when we all refuse to buy any of the products that benefit them. The best way to hurt the rich, is by turning them into poor people!

EU should do the same on applying tarriffs to Trump US and should continue to support Ucraine against the dictator in that country. Canada leader explained clearly and decisivaly their position against the bully tactics from US based on lies ( that is the policy of the Trump US - actions based on lies )

As a Finnish guy living in Germany I am so glad to hear PM Mr Trudeau´s speech. There are mighty many people around the world who respect and love each other, and try to keep to do so. Chapeau Canadians!! And, the EU is not to screw the US, it never was.

And that tight rope spans from one high rise building to another - the senate and house chambers of the US legislature. The midterms are coming soon and if President Trump loses the house and senate, that tight rope could snap! And all those shock and awe executive orders etc. could come back to haunt him like a boomerang thumping his head.\n\nNever in my wildest imagination would I ever imagine Canadians harboring bad feelings towards the USA! This is 180 degrees opposite of how things were when Ronald Reagan and Brian Mulroney were in the political arena!
