My first visit to Canada (the so called Province of Quebec) was in 1972. If you've had asked me at that time where was paradise, I'd have answered to you that it was right here in Quebec and particularly in Montreal. I spent two years and went back home in 1974. I came back five years later in 1979 with the intent of staying and I did. I've spent decades of wonderful years here, and although I will leave next year, I will still remember with nostalgia the lost best decades (70s, 80s and 90s) I'd have spent in Montreal. I will remember the most beautiful city of the world and what it has become in the years 2000 amd counting. I remember how clean and well maintained that city was; how its people were among the most polite and civilized in the World; how life was so easy and affordable; how tolerant as a society the French Canadian one was and so on. Today, all that is gone, and when I take a look at the pile of trashes and garbages on the Ste-Catherine street and Saint Laurent Boulevard, it makes feel sick. In fact, Montreal has become a huge Third World city, and it is not better on a social point of view : you can't walk one block or two without being dragged by a homosexual or a lesbian. Speaking of lesbian and homosexual, you can't keep your work if you don't support the LGBT and or willing to date your boss. I am leaving next year to go back to my country where there is still a seemingly willingness to normalcy, but since the LGBT has managed to sneak its power everywhere, I am not holding my breath of a bright future overthere, but it's my home and I prefer to be there and deal with it.

This liberal government is so out of touch its rediculous. Our immigration minister is obviously just trying to collect a paycheck as bringing in over a million immigrants from now til 2026 is not the answer. Basically, all countries have challenges..The $1M question is, which challenges can u tolerate as an individual? It is only u who can answer that question n not anybody else. Not even yo own mother of father can answer that 4u!! Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

I was once asked by a American colleague why did I not immigrated to the USA, the answer is: it was not even in the list of possible countries. In fact it is on my top list of places not to move to. \n\nYou have a good insurance through your job? That only means you have one more reason to fear losing it or stay on a particularly bad one if you don’t have anything lined up, if you have a chronic health condition, then you are straight out hostage to your employer. Even if you do have good insurance your bills may one day go beyond the maximum and you still risk bankruptcy. \n\nIf you do go bankrupt, in any civilized country you can’t go to jail for debt, in the USA you can, the country with the highest incarcerated population in the world in absolute numbers and relative too. To add salt to the injury it is a country that did not completely make slave work illegal, it is still legal if you are not a free citizen and your prison system exploit that.\n\nSo it is a country that you can become slave because you got sick.\n\nThen there are the guns… the fact you think you are exempt of school shootings says it all, if you live in a small city it would not affect you? Are you really saying mass shootings never occur in small cities?! I was born here in Canada and in the last 5 years almost every new person I met was new to Canada. Every time I ask them why they came and it's the same answer every time. They got sold a dream of beautiful life in a clean country, but they don't realize it's all a dream and not realistic.

Of course they will go back home if the conditions in Nigeria improves. They are all saying that now because of the situation and yet there are still people going back home. If you ask the same question of citizens whose country's conditions are not favourable they will give you the same answers.

you ask that question to a south african, the answer would be a big YES, going back as soon as they are done with their reasons for being in a foreign country, we always come back home, we don't migrate to other countries that easily we love our country and we are stubbornly patriotic.

I've never been to Canada and I'm new to this site so excuse me if I seem rude, but why are you there. I'm glad she asked the question if you would leave cause its a good question. You couldn't answer. I'm sure Canada couldnt take everyone to just make you live a vacation they want to build their country. I'd love to live there, I hear it's cold but its a choice. If it's that hard dont complain just leave. Then youd be more credible to me. Pretty good Adam I'd just mention a few of those things are...I don't want to say inaccurate but way more diverse. For instance French. Yes Quebec is the only French province BUT New Brunswick is the only Bilingual province and basically half and half. This is good for things like federal of provincial services because by law they must provide service in both languages but not so basically everywhere else. The problem with this is you can have an almost completely English town almost nobody speaks French and drive 15 minutes and be in a town where nobody speaks English. Research on this might be hard because a town with a French name may not have any French people in and vise versa. Also this problem is multiplied in the fact that if you Do want a French area we don't speak standard French or Quebecois but instead Le Chiac which is a difficult and confusing mix of old French and english (almost exactly like the Cajun dialect). Second part of this is that Montreal is easy to live in if you don't speak French and is so multicultural you are just apt to hear Swahili as French in public. Last part is be very careful where you move on the prairies as they have may isolated towns some that speak French also. Next is tipping I've never had to tip anyone for a haircut outside of the military and all other forms of tipping here on the east coast are purely optional and wait staff don't get upset if you don't leave a tip unless you were a jerk or left them extra work like making a big mess (I worked as cook for a while after I got out of the army and I rarely ever head staff complain) HOWEVER....tip a waitress well and she might accidentally give you 2 pieces of pie lol and tip a taxi driver well and he will not only get you the cheapest fare he will find ANYTHING you may need no questions asked. Lastly on the nice thing....we are nice for sure especially compared to our southern neighbours BUT there is a lot of passive aggressive nice that happens and this also varies greatly. For instance as a city boy of course you answered the way you did but a guy who have lived all over this country in big and small, French and English places who now has retired to a rural town I can say I find the cities quite snobby and the French and the English can be quite snobby to each other and where I live now if you asked a random stranger for 5$ chances are you would get it also driving down the road people you don't know will just wave at you as if you were the closest friends. Canada is certainly a weird place so many extremes and my advice to anyone wanting to move here is do your research and then visit and travel a bit if possible because even us Canadians can be surprised by thing or two across this gigantic country

Like dude I was born in Canada and my parents are immigrints who came legally so I can tell you my side. A non biast side. Since I live and work here I can tell u most people of colour r welcoming, however most people who are here and have trouble finding work dont wanna see more people come and make it harder like texas and arizonia. 8:17 BEST BUY Hello people Just before the COVID 19 pandemic struck our Country, in the United States of America. My son and I were shopping at Best Buy. We had more than five or six different people ask if we needed assistance. My Son would say no thanks, and I would ask each one that did ask if I needed help, to help me. That associate would show me where to look, then try real hard to get away from me. This happened at least five to six times. All six times, I said yes. Finally, they stopped asking me and continued to ask my son. The reason my son would say no thanks is because he was just looking. I, on the other hand, had questions about what I wanted to buy. They did a great job answering all of my questions, however, when it came to buying what I wanted to buy most of all of the associates had either left the area or went home, because I could not find anyone when it came down to purchasing the items I wanted, only to find out what I wanted was made in China, They no longer carry the product, in their stores, or online. However, they still had the items on display; however, you just could not buy them. P.S. We are white.

As a proud atheist, I find all religious costumes to be either degrading, or just plain hilarious. \nTheir minds are poisoned from the time they are born, and that's child abuse. \nWe should be asking why we are allowing so much immigration. The answer - families don't have as many kids. Why? Kids are expensive, and when your giving over half your salary to the government, having no kids may be your best option financially. So the government responds by keeping taxes high, and making up for smaller family sizes by recruiting immigrants from the Philippines, Nigeria, Sudan, etc.. The handful from Syria get all the attention, but they are a small fraction of the total. \nSo either start having more babies, or start preparing for the multicultural mosaic where the liberal values that made this country great will need to be protected, and I would say, promoted.
