Hello Madam,\nI feel this could be due to a possibility for permanent migration due to heavy taxes in India. There are lot of upper middle-class people trying to relocate to low tax countries. Please share your thought on this.

I don’t know who needs to know this but as of 2022 if I’m not mistaken backed by the federal banks and the global banks, Mexico is not or no longer considered a third world country for the record it’s considered an upper business class country and it’s on the rise. It’s number five in the world for importing the exporting Number one is the USA ?? . I just wanna let that sink in. I really do hope that President Trump and the president of Mexico I hope they both come to an agreement because it will not be beneficial for both parties. At least the one who’s gonna fill it. The most will be US. It’s just gonna force Mexico to look elsewhere not to mention Mexico was back by the US dollar to an extent, and it also has the back of the euro force along with the Chinese currency Mexico forced to be reckoned with not to mention all the car companies that are being Located in Mexico cars that enter in and exit Mexico in the car market not to mention Mexico now has the biggest cobalt mining probably in the world if I’m not mistaken Mexico is now in demand. Mexico knows this now but it’s not stronger than the US but if the US no longer cooperates with Mexico in Mexico, no longer cooperates with the US well it’s gonna be pretty sad not to mention the amazing history they have Like when Mexico along with Brazil defended the US when they were crippled by Japan and when Mexico went to help liberate during the Nazi invasion in Austria, Mexico has a great history of warfare and defending this country as well. I’m proud to be American and I love my Mexican heritage. I just hope it doesn’t go too far

Our politics suck. That means both Trudeau *and* mini-Trump Poilievre. The housing issue and overburdening of housing/healthcare/etc. by too many immigrants in such as short period of time is something I'm not hearing being seriously addressed by both Libs and Cons. Politicians can talk about programs to build more homes (too little, too late) and such but they aren't addressing some key sources of the problems. One could have a decent life in Canada in upper-lower class to lower-middle class but now the starting point is upper-middle class. Quite sad.

Best wishes for your move from Canada. Canada is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. However, Canada is largely unaffordable. America is unaffordable. Many in the working and middle classes are leaving. The cost of a home in nice communities in America averages over 1M Dollars. Tiny, old, fixer-upper homes in America average around $500,000 or more. The average rent for a very small apartment is over $1,500. Rents for apartments in upscale neighborhoods average around $3,500-$7,500 a month. Increasing cost of living in America is a problem. Some working people making average pay are living in their vehicles. Others making well over $100,000/year are leaving because they will not overspend on housing. People are moving to Mexico, Panama, South America, France, Portugal, Spain, Eastern Europe, Greece, Asia, etc. for affordable cost of living.

Most people in Canada do like immigrants and try and want to accept newcomers . I am happy to see new faces younger people, people with a different outlook. However this lack of housing is a major problem for poor and lower middle class people - citizens and noncitizens. Unfortunately rents are a racket in most cities, the real estate business is full of unnumbered accounts and money laundering; Canada is full of organized crime from all over the world, we cant control foreign attempts at killing our citizen. So we can tell our government is not efficient and is doing a poor jobHowever I dont think the average immigrant is the problem and I feel they are treated like rubes by our government and taken advantage of and so are Canadians of different ethnic backgrounds who also suffer the same problems of many immigrants. According to the news we broke 40 Million residents in Canada in the new year. They just announced that the Canadian population is already at 41 million as of last week. How can we absorb this many people. I would say the majority are from India. A lot of these new residents are amazing. But hear me out......For more than 70 years Canada has accepted diverse immigrants from around the world. These immigrants have always had challenges with acceptance and integration as they bought homes and had families and raised children to be Canadians. But these immigrants are economic migrants. They don't want to be Canadians like they used to. They want the PR, and the citizenship. But they want to work and move all that money out of Canada back to India. Then when they retire, they themselves will dump all their Canadian assets and move to India where cost of living and home ownership is exceedingly less expensive. Even their federal government pension plan money will move out of the country. I'll be totally truthful...MY perception of these economic migrants is that THEY HATE US. In India they are educated, come from Middle class and upper middleclass families. They want the PR and Citizenship so they can eventually pull their entire family from India over to Canada. But they have to Work at Burger king or Tim Hortons when they arrive. And the HATE and resent Canadians for it. \n Canada allows people to keep their foreign passports and citizenship. There are 300,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Hong Kong, There are 450,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Lebanon with a War about to expand across the border. 20 years ago, international students were the cream of the crop. They usually came from upper class families and were wealthy. Some of these were my friends, who went to boarding schools abroad and decided to come to UT for their bachelor's. Many went on to graduate school in the United States or Switzerland and never came back to Canada again. They were not here to be Canadian citizens. They were already very wealthy and there was no incentive to be here. I learned a lot from their experiences. The international student route was never meant to be a pathway to citizenship.

Some of the stats cited here are straight up wrong or... creatively employed, and there's a lot of contradictory information and the typical conservative 'the sky is falling' sensationalism and misattribution. That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. Trudeau focuses on 'equity' measures, hoping for a bit of cheap good press, while his efforts are, for the most part, just window dressing and the issues, while meaningful, are often not of paramount importance or even applicable to the vast majority of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

If you are in the lower to middle class then yes Canada is better. If you are in the mid to upper class then the US is better.

When I passed my Post Graduation in 70' s from London University ( in Engineering) Canadian Embassy gave me Visa and One way ticket for free. While I was in Embassy waiting .. I saw some colorful journals and green in summer mounds of snow in winter. I had grown up Central Indian Climate. 5 years in England still kept me alienated environ cold weather and Culture. Most disturbing was visible Brown skin foreigners for ever.....at 2nd tier of Society ,..... after getting 4 month Valid visa I started probing fron friends who had earlier migrated to Canada. Living, impediment of long very cold winter, 1970's Canada was still racist and Parliament had strong bill waiting to stop colored immigrants and keep country white...Then in 1975 the Bill was voted down. For the reason that old white generation was aging and demanding Pension and Health Care. Welfare Chest was showing bottom and had to be replenished by tax money. Young tax payers were needed. India, China and Black Carribian were overflowing with young workers...so they had swollow Colored immigrants. Country was the largest but most commercia cities are at border of America, because north is brutal cold. Canada could not build population. 30m (10% of USA.) And Economically behind CA$= 0.80USD. Let the Visa expire...and went back to my old country to Start my Consultancy office. Lived in upper middle class tier and retiring with comfortable cushion to survive . Saw the whole world during past decades of active life... Including Canada US China . Don't regret living among brown people where my roots are. No body looks at me as colored foreigner. Yes I totally agree with this but it is the upper class that have caused all of this by overinflating the housing market. It's a trickle down effect two-fold. One, everyone in small business must charge more due to a decline in community numbers from empty houses (foreign investment properties) and two, like was said, no competition so they (including the communications industry that mysteriously deters any competitors enter the picture) charge whatever they want basically.\nMy partner and I are buying a place on the other side of the planet so we can go live cheaply at least some of the year!

You are indeed great. I have been written off bc l had 3rd class in my first degree on secretarial Administration. I went in for a post graduate diploma in sociology had an upper credit. I went in for masters in dept of sociology(option- peace and conflict studies) had an upper credit. I want to go in for a PhD but don't know a school that will accept me. Would go in for any other good course outside sociology pls for 2024 academic session.

I was born and raised in Toronto. I have no family inheritance to give me a jump start. I make good money (middle upper class) but I’m still struggling financially. Not because I spend like crazy or anything, but because taxes are crazy and everything is so expensive. And now with the high interest rates, my monthly expenses went up $4000+ for no reason. Just based on interest rates. I had a pho lunch for 2 last week and it was freaking $70! Crimes are increasing like crazy and the government keeps having talks of handing out money when we are in so much debt. Seriously the government right now is discouraging talented hard working ppl and encouraging lazy leeches to keep being lazy. Our healthcare is also a joke. Doctors know nothing and are only there to write prescriptions. The amount of people I know that was misdiagnosed for conditions so obvious that any 10 year old can figure out by googling their symptoms is ridiculous. \n\nBeing a Toronto native I really hate seeing the city/country crumble like this. I am starting to question if sticking around is the right choice. But I’m so established and embedded here I don’t know how to uproot everything and move elsewhere. I think greed is the main reason for the problems in the USA. Canadian doctors don’t make the,only American doctors do. But the are very comfortable and happy. Big pharma gouges the America people. The vast (I do mean vast) majority of Nigerians live in absolute poverty and in virtual war zones. This guy was obviously from the upper class and made enough money to live in a secure, gated community with its own power generators. Most Nigerians live in shacks. He may be one of the few immigrants whose station in life dropped after emigration.

His advice also works the other way as well: moving from 1st world to developing country as a middle aged professional. If you're established in Canada or USA and move to Nigeria (a lot of tried it), you will start from many levels down regardless of your CV and the salary in Nigeria is not enough to sustain your family relative to their comfort level in USA/Canada. The irony is the same reason why he moved & is enduring the situation in Canada is a same reason why USA & Canada based transplants endured harsher conditions on ground in Nigeria: they feel it's in the best interest of their children and therefore worthwhile in the interim. Once the goal is met, they return back to their 'home base'. Hence, his situation is not the classic Japa - where the vast majority folks need to move by any means necessary to survive due to hardship in naija. His advice works for those who are doing relatively ok in naija [net positive monthly cashflow upper middle class individuals]. The average Nigerian who is suffering will manage anyhow situation in Canada compared to the daily hardship on ground in Naija.

I have mixed feelings about this video. This video does a good job outlining the immigration process but it does not highlight any of the negative consequences of immigration that Canada is experiencing. One of the main reasons why cost of living is so high in Toronto and Vancouver is precisely because we have so many immigrants coming in without enough housing supply. This is by design because politicians and the upper class have a vested interest in keeping real estate prices high because so much of their net worth is tied up in the housing market.\n\nAnother negative is that employers hire immigrants working low skilled jobs and pay them less than Canadians because the immigrants are willing to be taken advantage of since they're just happy to have a job in Canada which pays better than their country. \n\nAnother myth that gets repeated is that Canadian takes immigrants out of compassion and unfortunately a lot of Canadians believe this. It was never about compassion, it's about bringing more people to 1) pay taxes to support our social welfare as Canadian birth rates decline and boomers retire, 2) keep housing costs high and 3) pay immigrants lower wages for the same work because immigrants are fine being exploited since they have a job in a first world country.\n\nAnother problem is the cultural shift. In the most immigrant-dense regions you'll find that many immigrants themselves surprisingly don't want more immigrants coming to Canada because they see these negative consequences. The people who are most pro-immigration have no problem cramming 8+ people in a basement and exploiting their labour because they make enough money to live in communities that immigrants can't afford, and so they don't have to deal with the cultural shift that's taking place. This is NOT the fault of immigrants, but rather the politicians who put economic growth over quality of life. Over HALF the people in the GTA weren't born in Canada, so they didn't go through our school system and have no connection to our culture. Canada is unfortunately going to become very racist over the next 10-20 years as Canadians start feeling like outsiders in their own country. It's somehow considered racists to criticize the effect of multiculturalism on social unity, yet the cultures we accept in Canada only became distinct cultures because of monoculturalism.

As a Canadian, I think you should mention that these high housing prices and low wages are DUE to the mass immigration we're going through. And the resounding sentiment as to why is due to corrupt politicians who benefit from higher real estate prices and low wages, as they're part of the upper class that owns businesses and property.

I have no interest in moving to the U.S., but the main reason people do choose to move there is for money. On average, middle class, upper middle class or upper class Americans are wealthier than the equivalents in Canada. At the top end, dramatically richer. People who are in it for money or for some specific job tend to move to the U.S.

Can someone pull up the population and other stats about Newtown CT for Tyler? Pretty sure a small town full of middle class (upper middle clas?) white people didn't help those kids.
