In regards to the EU, they always followed the lead out of the US. Typical Americans and Trump. Sign a free trade agreement and then when you feel like it just violate it for your own interest. They only play by their own rules. If Canada violated the agreement they would all over it. A while back they tried to nail Canada with 4 billion in softwood lumber tariffs in that they claimed Canada violated the free trade agreement, which they did not. The arbitrary trade council which oversees both countries ordered the USA to pay back Canada the 4 billion. The USA never did. Trump claims Canada treats them unfairly yet they are the ones who violate the agreements. They are the poor trading partner. Canada should trim the exports to the USA significantly and find alternatives. Just cut out the corrupt Americans led by a convicted criminal.

All of these countries need us far more than than we need them. They will cave very rapidly. Trump can also tax remittances which would pull 60 billion from the Mexican economy.

It's incredible that so many of the people commenting here don't understand the reason for the tariffs. We're being invaded by illegal aliens and deadly drugs. As Trump has said he would do is make Canada pay for their own air and ground defense of their nation. Canadians fail to realize the Cost of Transporting Goods to Countries outside of North America. Currently Canadian Goods are Trucked or Railed into United States Daily whereas Cargo Ships would be Required and take weeks/months for Delivery to Asia or Europe.

If countries stop buying military equipment from the US that would be alot more retaliatory than tariffs.

The winner of this war will be whoever can replace their trade bazaar with others faster and better. Europeans and Asians should see the opportunity to trade and fill the gap of the US for Canadian Market. Canada has enourmous capacities that no one should hesitate.
