Main side point is once you’re in the active duty military, the Government pays all your medical expenses 100% through TRICARE. It is not the tax payers financial responsibility or the governments to continuously take on this private elected debt of one’s choosing. Trans have always found a way to get their gender changed in the private medical sector without adding to the already multi trillion dollar debt we are in. Sorry, but allowing Trans people to serve does nothing for readiness or the Country. In fact the cost associated with making them acceptable by the BS training and complaints really isn't worth it. They account for .03% of the military, which comes out to be roughly 3900 people out of 1.3 million active duty. I keep hearing it would take 10 years to get back to operation readiness afforded by trans contributions? REALLY? Are you telling me that those 3900 are the backbone of military? Personally, I have nothing against these people and Shilling can still serve but as his born sex.

I just retired after 30+ years active duty and trans SM’s should not serve.The amount of time/money spent on one individual is ridiculous.Not one trans SM that I led deployed with their unit due to medical.I was forced to either deploy undermanned or find other SMs that were willing to fill that gap billet.The military has the lowest morale since across the board since the 70’s.We can not recruit nor can we keep SM’s due to policies you are promoting.

Finally, a transgender women, who served in the military for 20 years, showed a lot of balls to talk about having to stay in the navy and military, rather than leaving the military and not join the military is not a good idea. Also the F18 that he flew was a growler ( electronics warfare ) and NOT WHAT was in top gun. The plane he flew the most was a EA6B prowler main line electronics warfare plane.
