There was a time when I used to go to Canada for vacation. Somewhere around 2019, I started to find hotel prices very high. I have not looked at prices since then, but now it must be way higher.

I have a theory; US lottery gave PR through a random selection, it allowed ourliers who otherwise will not qualify to get PR and move to america, these are the ones that start business and do random stuff that diversify and boost the economy. Canada PR system is based on point selection, points are earned from degree, work, language etc, this brings a specific type of people, people good in classroom, obedient people who look good on paper, these group are not risk takers, they will find a job, go back to school and struggle for the same type of opportunities. this places pressure on the system to cater to them. This is just my theory

Housing prices are so crazy that I just rent a room and six months per year go live in developing countries of Asia. My income in Canada is only 25K as a single retired person. No home. No car. No partner or family responsibilities. No job. Cook at home only. No alsohol or drugs.\n\nSo, there are solutions. GIS and living out of a suitcase. Numbers reported are true and its going to increase in 2024. I live in the capital and I see dozens of distress home sales due to increased mortgages. People face high taxation, heavily overburdened healthcare system, unaffordable rentals, loss of jobs, grocery prices over the roof, rapidly increasing crime rate and robberies, uncertainty about the good days again. Canada used to be a good place to settle, but now there are dozens of other countries that are welcoming with an affordable peaceful life. For Indians, there is absolutely no reason to hunt for a job or better life here as it involves start from the scratch for everything. India is rushing to become the fastest growing economy in the world with millions of opportunities and a solid political leadership, a history in the making.

I don't even know what to think as an open work permit holder. Where I was from, 2 years ago, i sent like 20 job applications, went to 5 interviews and got 2 offers. Took me 2 months but that was it.\n\nNow I'm starting my 4th month in toronto and sent more than a hundred applications, and I've not even gotten a single interview. I had naively assumed that having a certified native-level proficiency in English would ease things up a little, but i just feel completely ignored in this city. You have a right to a land, as well as obligations and responsabilities for inhabitating that land. You can't be crossing into your neighors country and start butchering people in name of your god and then expect another state to tolerate that. When you start 4 wars in 4 decades (the first one the very next day after formally creating the state) let's say your intentions will at the very least be doubted, and you aren't exactly going to be trustworthy to be left unsupervised for eventual aggression.

I'm from India and was in Indianapolis on work for one month. I thought i'll go nuts from the sheer lack of human contact. Practically nobody to talk to, the roads are empty, the streets are empty. If you start a random conversation with a guy in the street, he totally freaks out. Maybe it's different in other places but man it was very very depressing and i just couldn't wait to fly back. Of course, i love American people and they are very warm if you know them from before but strangers exchanging pleasantries, that is absent. It would be nice to just see people on the streets but no. Not sure how the kids keep themselves entertained

I guess we did a right move. During the cold war we moved to Canada in Jan 1990 from former Czechoslovakia after spending almost 2 years in Austria to enjoy freedom. I remember renting a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 balconies in Brampton /ON for 360/M. In Mississauga 600/M for a 5 bedroom townhouse. Later on in Orangeville/ON I bought a fully detached house with a nice land with own swings and slides a swimming pool for 144 000.00. When the non stupidity in law started in 2002 we sold our house packed our things and went back to Europe. I always loved Canada as my second home but I guess the table has turned and we cherish freedom elsewhere. I am really sad about what's going on with Canada but it isn't really that hard to figure out why.

They aren't good investments and both a recession and a housing crash are necessary to lower prices. \n\nLet me say something about the housing crisis - it's not immigration. Canadians are overleveraged. Many own second, third and fourth properties that they rent out. Once they have to renew into the teeth of higher rates you'll start to see a correction like what we saw in the 1980s. Couple that with higher unemployment and you have a recipe for a crash. Everyone wants lower house prices -- until we get them. Go try to renew your 600,000k mortgage on your million-dollar house that's now worth $800,000. \n\nHealth care is a problem - but where isn't it? The UK? The US? Many parts of the US are close to third-world countries. \n\nI'm happy here. The rest of the world seems bonkers by comparison. Go ahead and leave.

we've gone from 30 million in 1997 to 40 million in June '23. 97% are immigrants. If the govt really wanted to control this housing problem, they should have started building apt buildings about 25 yrs ago. We're going to accept over a million immigrants this year....but the Feds are providing funding to build 65,000 houses in the GTA. Not apt buildings, .....single family houses. Even with MY math, i can tell that's not going to be enough...

it shouldn't even be a question. we are accepting way too many. it would not be a problem if we spent the last decade or two focusing on improving health care, expanding transportation and infrastructure, attracting jobs, building homes and so on. unfortunately we didn't do that sufficiently. we haven't even started to see the implications of this yet. in 5-10 years time the situation for everyone is going to be more dire than it has been in the last 1-2 years. we are in for very rough times all because we have an addiction to electing utterly useless governments no matter which side of the ideological aisle they sit on. if you think there's a lack of housing, not enough doctors, overcrowded transit systems etc now, it'll be a shock in years time. even if we started to improve these things now, it is not going to keep up to the demand

Listened to your vlog and I want to suggest few things as an immigrant myself... I am not sure of your detials but seems like your husband came back after 2 months leaving you there with family.. I have rarely seen any family settling abroad unless they have seriously burnt all there bridges back home.. if you start with a mindset that let's go and see and if doesn't work out we will come back 90% odds are you will go back.. firstly come with absolutely clear mind that no matter what happens you are not going back.. and you will make it here no matter what. The journey will become much easier and one directional.. Secondly you do not have to rely on any family abroad to move.. this is an other mistake people make.. they think they will have support but this support is actually a limiting option ... it doesn't let you get on feet quicker. Nobody can support you for long abroad and sooner than later you have to get on your feet. once you over stay your welcome you can start getting some unwelcoming vibes and then you get depressed thinking there is no one genuinely yours in this country.. you waste your initial time relying on your family.. better start without them in the first place and get going from day one.. and lastly 2 3 months is nothing to settle any where let alone in Canada.. you have to be patient, persistent and focused and after 2 years and after seeing all the calendar and religious seasons twice, you finally start to think of new place as your home.. its hard but in the end it's truly worth it and then you can never go back to India or Pakistan

Canada has become so corrupt. It's also known Canada has become a haven for money laundering and all kinds of schemes like that. These colleges have turned into diploma mills. Their diplomas have no real value anymore. They are churned out solely because of money and it's flooding the market as well. \nHow is this allowed? \nCan you imagine how many Canadian Citizens are DYING because they have to fight against millions of new International students and new coming immigrants each year for a hospital spot.\nWait times at ER as exploded. Tons of new cases where Canadians died waiting for emergency help. They are starting to get stigmatized because all Canadians see is insane amount of Indians that barely speak English (that would be the immigrants not the students) and with a housing crisis and it affects Canadians. Stop capping our resource sectors so much , start ramping up the procurement and processing of those resources . Our processes are way more eco friendly than the other main international providers . It would help drastically reduce emissions from non eco friendly sources while providing our economy with the huge boom it needs to upgrade our housing production and infrastructure. Look at the real stats on our worldwide emissions... Canadas emissions are a tiny blip of the worldwide emissions ... our government acts like we're this massive air pollutant scourge and we just aren't. We can go net zero pretty fast of we stop stepping all over our energy and resource sectors ... then immigration would be supportable ...

The housing is something the government should have seen earlier, stepped in to start creating homes itself. It is too expensive for small companies to build or they are forced to sell what they build at a small margin or lose to regular people. Most other cases they are up against giant companies like BlackRock who use houses as investment. The hands off approach of the Liberals and Conservatives has lead us to a housing shortage. We need to build housing, and it is quite apparent that private companies too small to compete or too big to bother. The government and Canadians are going to have to solve this ourselves, and build more housing.

So lets do some simple math if the government could achieve this every year which is beyond a drugged induced fantasy the federal budget would need to find 73billion in cuts 60 billion would be needed for interest payments 13 billion going toward principal. As a canadian i never thoughg of living anywhere else vanxouver is so beautiful. Growing up govrnmebt started cutting programs and services in schools ans public resources. And kept doing it. \n\nNow they are removinf beautiful homes to build ugly apartments no yards .\n\nThere is not enough public space. Everyone is moving to the city. We use to be able to go to the beach on a weekday in spring and there was no one. Now its packes. To get to the bathroom was almost a block long. The bathrooms are small. Goos for population we has in the early 90s. We need somethings 4x larger now. \n\nIm ok with new comers but if they create a new community in the rural areas. We have so many areas up north no one moves to.\n\nOr lots of space to build new communities up north, not deatroy the current communities that already exist. \n\nWith all the new apartments there is not enough space for cara, no parking and no room on public transportation.\n\nSimply, the city cannot support anymore people. Its unrealistic. \nI worked with a girk who shares a 1 bedroom apartment with 5 other people and she still paid 1500 a month for rent.\n\nThis will soon be like america - run down, extreme poverty & homelessness. Why? for good reasons (1) foreigners need to have Job in a foreign country in order to survive (2) without an income, a foreigner just might become criminal and start stealing their personal property or hurt the natives in their land (3) a country with already X million head count of their own population, will lose their means of income if foreigners come and take over their Jobs -- his/her income or their bread/butter and so much more. unless you are invited to come work for them, you should only permanently live at home and not across the seas unwelcome in Australia, Canada, Europe, USA. \n\nThose countries, just like yours, will have to survive economically -- with their own resources alongside their gov't's help. nowadays and very late now into the existence of human-kind on earth, and now at the height of the age of reason and educational attainment, should have already learned very well on how to build their own land and with a sustainable economy for welfare of their own native people to financially support themselves and to survive. foreigners have no civil rights to sneak-in into a foreign land and steal or hurt their livelihood -- we have to mind our God given manners. \n\nTry not to quilt together a self-created poverty situation for yourself and others. how many children/adults do you feel you have to have at home and could financially support. We live in Houston, Texas, where the culture is more conservative. Parents are not told how to raise their children, cost of living is still relatively good, and being Muslim (wife wears hijab) hasn't been as challenging as other places. \n\nPlenty of Muslims from all over, mosques, Islamic schools, halal food, etc too. \n\nMy parents moved my siblings and I from Los Angeles to Karachi, when I was 12. Not so much for religious reasons, more homesickness. After a miserable 15 yrs, I moved back to the US. \n\nI'm not trying to dissuade you guys. Wanted to share a few key things to help your transition:\n1. Pilot it out. Move to Istanbul for 6 months, then maybe Kuala Lumpur for another 6 months, etc. Test out each location. Inflation is everywhere. Not all Islamic countries are Islamic. But you have to experience it first hand. \n2. Take LOTS of money. A decent life outside the first world means you're loaded. \n3. Build connections where ever you go. The things we take for granted are luxuries elsewhere. Water, electricity, gas. Connections help you get what you need, sometimes for a price. \n4. Schools will be underwhelming. If you can homeschool, cool. \n5. If you start a business, go solo. Don't partner up with others. \n\nIn any case, hope it works out inshaAllah. Who knows, we may be neighbors!

then Cost of Living in Tunisia went (x 3 )in less then 2 years but at least we have sun almost 8 months the year and the winter isnt that Winter for us its just cold but we got sun somehow even in january and the sea is swimmable from may until october so yea \n\nPS : I prayed somtimes to God that i wished and want to Go to Canada But unfortuanly the door was closed and Now i understand he just wanted me To stay Close to him since i found the true path and asked God to guide me and never let me go away from Him So YES GOD didnt want me to struggle and iam so Glad , im taking note and i share same things with you guys and my wish for Canada starting to vanish , specially the Cold part i dislike that , better go to a muslim country where you can find the Sun the warmness the Mosquee , people who doesnt hate , Halal Food etc

Me and my husband are trying to leave the US for similar reasons, life is hard and no time to actually enjoy our kids s childhood and we want our kids to get a islamic education and enjoy life as muslim in muslim country it s so fun, i personally started suffering from social anxiety i can stay home for a whole month because i feel i uncomfortable with the bad looks and the negativity to the point that i don’t take my kids to the playground because im afraid they ll be treated in a bad way because it happened in the past , we r thinking about going the arabia saoudi or morocco\n i work with individuals with disabilities i will miss them so much my father asked me to not leave that job and to do my best to make their life easier, i feel like i ll miss them the most, may Allah unite me with them in jannah ameeeen

Every time I go back to Toronto, I see how dead all my old friends are inside. They should've followed my lead and gotten the fuck outta there a decade ago (when things were already pretty bad). No amount of therapy can help you if you're living in a rat cage. You want to improve your mental health? Start with a healthy environment. (I believe it was a black latino psychologist who first said that, though, which might explain why said advice is \ngenerally ignored in mainstream culture. Also, keeping people stressed and hopeless means more money in psychologists' pockets. ?)
